The one on the US predictions are for the 22nd century... I
doubt it takes that long. I know since my youth Canada has been
on an immigration quest trying to counter act declining
birthrates with targeted immigration. The system tries to poach
educated, English and French speakers from throughout the world
at the expense of their home countries... It's vicious but seen
are virtuous here. I've wondered if the us is doing a similar
thing using illegal immigration since it can't seem to get a
legal framework in place.

All the Industrialized countries have been below replacement
levels for many years. The only reason these populations
haven't been shrinking is immigration. 3rd world immigrants
have made up the difference. Japan has always been
anti-immigration, thus the situation there is mush like Latvia.
Increasing numbers of empty and dilapidated homes. Declinig
population is a killer for the construction industry, in fact
all industries.
Capitalism is all about GROWTH, and at its core, growth is about
population growth. Why do you think the Statue of Liberty says
"“Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning
to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send
these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside
the golden door!” This country’s greatness and true genius lies
in its diversity."? Because that is how the people at the top
of the pyramid make more money! It's not about freedom or any
of the other Bullshyt sold in the history books. Without
immigration, where does the FSoA get its Lettuce Pickers? Where
does the UK get its Pig Butchers?
Since immigration comes primarily from darker skinned countries
this is wht the demographics have changed, and why White
Nationalist parties have taken root. It erodes the power of
white people since the newbies can vote. At least if they are
LEGAL immigrants. Thus you want to make legal immigration
difficult and illegal immigration EZ. Why do you think Uncle
Joe is allowing through families but not single men? Why did
Welfare go primarily to single mothers? Sense a pattern here?
Now, how long will the decline take? Well, current numbers
suggest a 1-2% decline per year absent immigration. Covid by
itself appears to add around .2% If you compound -1.5% over 50
years, you get around a 48% decline in population. 3rd world
immigration can continue to make up for this , for a while. But
with war, disease and hunger ravaging these populations, they
are not an inexhaustible supply of new lettuce pickers and hog
butchers.
Do you expect the population statistics to increase or decrease?
Well, with increasing numbers of Baby Boomers meeting the Grim
Reaper each year, the Death Rate seems likely to increase. So a
1.5% number is conservative.
Even assuming 1.5% to be constant, over 100 years you have a 78%
population decline. It won't be constant though, it's likely
to increase a while longer, then gradually decrease
assymptotically and finally level off at some number.
Long before this occurs though, the economic and political
problems will grow and social breakdown will occur.
How long before the math catches up with us in the FSoA? Make
your own calculation on that.

It's only a problem if we place over-riding importance on growth
and the current taxpayers making the social security payments
for the elderly, because govt and fund managers looted what the
fogies paid in themselves. In general human history, the boomer
generation average long lifespan of four score years, is an
artificial luxury based on technology plus cheap and plentiful
energy.
Going forward, hospitals are not going to keep up and a
significant number are just going to pass away earlier. Here in
Tas, we have nowhere near enough trained staff on ventilators,
plus other problems and procedures are going to be delayed. Time
to get that airbag warning light that stays on fixed and start
holding onto handrails going down the stairs. The system will
not be expanded to accommodate this situation.

Just looked at the wiki, death outnumbers birth by about 33%.
They should do well for available resources and emission targets
then. Next is to either issue their own currency without
borrowing it, or raise a generation of robot technicians.

This explains why I never catch a cold. :)
Clearly, a population knockdow is good for the environment, not
so good for the economy. The trajectory is quite clear however.
