Russia under Alexander I
[move]Yeah, I don't think so MSNBC[/move]
[/quote]In late February 1943 (just one long human lifetime ago)
the Soviets were pushing back the axis coalition in exactly the
region in dispute right now. They were slaughtering each other
in the Donbass. The forces the Russians were fighting were
Hungarian, Romanian, Italian, rebel Ukrainian and German. As
the Nazis had swept across the Ukraine in the previous 1.5
years, the Russians burned everything the Nazis might find
useful. Everything. Millions died. They were killed by the
Nazis or died of starvation, exposure and disease. Millions.
The Ukraine was drenched in blood - and that is an
understatement. This, of course followed the axis defeat at
Stalingrad and around the sea of Azov.
Yeah, the Russians might just have an interest in maintaining a
buffer on their western border.

Vlad does the BLITZKRIEG!
I am surprised he is going for Kyiv. The Ruskies don't have the
same support there that they have in Donbass.
No matter what economic sanctions the West drops on, as long as
Russia can trade with China, they can launder money through
there.
It still does not look like NATO will confront Mother Russia
directly with military force. If they do, it's WWIII in Europe.

If they just return fire from the Russian enclaves it changes
nothing that hasn't already been happening for the past 8 yrs,
mercenaries and arms can freely flow in forever. Expect an
election at the end of the operation. Problem is its pretext for
the US pumping more missiles and troops into all other countries
bordering Russia, like Poland and Finland.
Are you getting lots of msm interviews with always women
Ukrainians who don't sound even slightly foreign, yet talking
about their frequent visits and close family still there? Who
sound uncannily like fellow journalists with lots of very long
and well prepared answers patronizing the Ukrainians without any
of the "we need help from nato, now' as the only answer from any
real ukie? Always talk of bravery and resilience, the same word
on all lips, just like with newsreaders who all get the same
brief and use the same word of the day in other news. Everyone
always hearing explosions assuredly attacks on civilians, but
zero reports of civilian casualties.
Here was my reply to a friend on day 1, at the start of the
week:
So just as he indicated, as soon as the Olympics were over he
had to do something about the intense shelling in the Russian
enclaves. I think they will run out of ukies wanting to die and
bases inside ukraine to launch drones from in a few months.
China has a lot of robotic unmanned gizmos they will be wanting
to test in battle and so much the better if it's not their own
war, although they will be financing the whole Russian operation
in return for favourable oil and gas contracts. Supply chain
shocks and stockpiling of things like fertilizer food and ad
blue now about 5x the price last year are really an act of war
anyway.
The intention is most likely to create an expensive quagmire for
Russia while getting the same level of contracting spending as
Afghanistan and on a continuous basis again. What could possibly
go wrong?

No mention of how the euros are going to pay for Russian oil,
gas and wheat without swift, guess they don't need it that much.
If it gets done, every major military spender like India and
little republic that bought Kalashnikov rifles or mig jets in
the last 40 yrs and want more, or still need parts, will be
signing bilateral agreements bypassing the petrodollar
