Building a House

It starts with the desire to do it. Then comes making the plan.
Then comes gathering the resources needed.
The you dig into the earth to create footings for the
foundation of the house. If this is done in sand, the house will
fail. Dirt has some sand in it, but the carrying capacity of the
earth makes it work. As time goes on you add rocks, bricks, or
cement. They are even stronger than the dirt because of the
ionic bonds that give them their strong, heavy, and solid
properties.
This story can be used as an analogy to any serious plans we
conceive of. If we lack the desire to persevere in setbacks, and
limitations then the "house" will not become a "reality". If we
cut through the obstacles to keep our vision and construction
going, something will emerge. There is always unexpected events
that confuse us, but we make adjustments and continue on. The
"house" is never finished and is different than our
expectations.
Having had countless plans in my life, some of them are still
being worked on, and I find the effort to keep them going the
most rewarding thing I have found in life. I stopped relying on
the couch to put me in the game. I just decide I want to play
and jump right in. Sure it breaks the rules, the rules need to
be challenged and reformed. They won't if we stay on the
sidelines and the game becomes stagnant and become irrelevant.
The House will not be Built.
