This has of course been an ongoing problem since the early days
of Covid, but when Nurses start making more than Doctors, it has
       gotten out of hand.
The issues of "burn out" and PTSD also bother me somewhat. From
Florence Nightingale in the Civil War through the 2 WWs, Nurses
had to handle nonstop Death on a daily basis. Not old folks
either, young Cannon Fodder blown to bits by shrapnel or turned
into swiss cheese by machine gun fire. These exercises in death
went on for 4-6 years. Now only 2 years into Covid, they are
quitting in droves. Nurses have gone soft.
You wonder why I refused to go to the ER after being harangued
by the EMTs that I really should go? If they admitted me, I
would once again be trapped. Lemme just die at home, please.
  HTML https://www.businessinsider.com/travel-nurses-current-health-system-unsustainable-only-working-for-pay-2021-12
Travel nurses say the current healthcare system is
'unsustainable' as COVID-19 infections surge again. Some say the
pay is the only thing keeping them on the frontlines.

If we add another 50% to price at pump of petrol and diesel, the
equation of whether to try and eke out an existence by working
for wages or some other way changes for a lot of people. I saw
$2.05/l on Friday so already 5c into the extra dollar to
increase by 50% (Tas price being at least 20c higher than
       mainland).
Someone who had a 100$/ week fuel expense previously is now at
120-130 and headed toward 200$. Doing something at home
including online negates most of that expense. Then there is the
time they could put into growing food and cooking food which is
also going up in price as opposed to buying in supermarket or
takeaway which they do because of time and energy limitations.
       Call that another 100$ saving.
For the underemployed casual worker averaging say 700$ week
after tax, they are probably better off not working for wages.
Elon has a hell of a lot of rocket engine orders to fill now.
His are the nearest best to the Russian ones the US relies on to
launch satellites and were just stopped by Russia.

I have to admit a shocking degree of ignorance here. What the
hell is Frito Pie? Is this one of those questions that "if you
have to ask you don't want to know"?
