I lived in Springfield, MO. It's not "hillbillies". It's a
typical midwestern city full of strip malls and a huge number of
fat people. It's home to the Regional Medical Center, a main
economic driver for the area since so many people have diabetes.
Median income is $23K, less than half the national average.
Just about evry family needs 2 working parents. A lack of day
care is a real problem.

Back in Brazil, I was always jealous of the Military and State
Dept brats who had "PX Priviledges". They could get Cheerios
and Hershey Bars. Looks like the military supply chain isn't
doing so well these days.
