       Do you buy the Spin?
By: RE Date: September 28, 2021, 8:32 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Over in the UK, Da Goobermint Spin on their current Petrol
shortages is a lack of Truck Drivers. What? Did they all die
of Covid in the last month?
If this were really true, there are obvious solutions. Detail
Military truck drivers to handle it. Raise CDL salaries to
attract people back to doing the job. Train recent HS Grads for
a WPA style Driving Workforce. etc. Supposedly there is enough
crude and enough refinery capacity. I don't buy iy. It comes
too close on the heels of the NG shortages and skyrocketing Oil
prices. I think they are trying to *ease* the public into
rationing by blaming this on Covid, Brexit, Labor shortage etc.
Oil is predicted to go to $100/bbl again. As we all know, the
economy tanks at $80/bbl, and that was before Covid.
So...have we FINALLY hit the wall here? Is this the "BIG ONE"?
Or will the Smartest Guys in the Room pull out another Stick
       Save?
       Inquiring minds want to know.

Did they have a vaccine mandate for the drivers? They might
have been sacked or quit. The govt backed down here (for now)
when the drivers threatened to shut down the interstate. Casual
contract drivers also had a big industrial action not long ago.
I don't know the outcome. These guys have no stability or
security and can't even take on loans.
So we have oil AND gas problems. What happened to all the big
mediterranean discoveries and gas Trump demanded the Euros ship
across the Atlantic, out of stock like everything else?

I went down the rabbit hole on this one when I found out about
it. I even watched some vids by some British blokes on Odyssey
who were ranting about 'Problem / Solution' .
The shortage of drivers is real. In the UK trucking does not
pay enough to make a trucking lifestyle attractive.
Consequently a lot of drivers were foreign. They have gone
home. That is the Brexit connection. Sprinkle a little COVID
on top of that. Why are we having the same problem with school
bus drivers? People with the necessary licenses are in short
       supply.
BUT the attitude is that the government is **** with people to
prepare them for winter shortages. People went Toilet Paper
panic over petrol causing an artificial shortage. The blokes I
watched figure the media is 'manufacturing consent' and it is
all part of a larger conspiracy.
They have a point. The media created the panic. Setting a
       narrative it does seem.

OK, the Driver shortage is real, but I don't think this occured
out of the blue over the last 2 weeks. It has to have been
building for months. Nobody noticed migrant truckers were going
home? Trucking companies didn't notice their payrolls were
       shrinking? What?
No contingency plans were prepared? Nobody in Da Goobermint
thought, "Hey, if we don't have enough Drivers, we can't get the
product to market."? Is everybody that stupid? Don't answer
       that. Rhetorical question.
So far, Covid has killed off less than 1% of the population, and
that is skewed heavily towards old folks. So it's not dead
truckers for the most part. Vax mandates could explain more,
but do that many people really quit their jobs just to avoid
       getting jabbed?
The problem is of course economics. The price of the oil is
going up, then if you add on top of that the price of labor
going up the cost of petrol at the pump would have to rise
rapidly to keep up. That of course is as bad as shortages.
Shortages or rapid price inflation, both are recipes for rising
political unrest. Now the question is, where in the
Industrialized world will this boil over first? The UK and the
Eurozone seem like good candidates to me, so does China.
If people can't get/afford heating fuel this winter, I suspect
       something will break somewhere.
