I don't know about everyone else, but "sorry we haven't got
any", is something I'm hearing more and more:

As we've been building our house we've run into a lot of "just
not available". It's getting better in the building world as
most subs have come up with work arounds. Building materials are
pretty local. Fittings and fixtures though are often offshore
products. Lots of making due going on and larger trades
stockpiling expecting future shortages. That of course can make
it worse. Ones that come to mind:
We could not get a main electrical panel with generator backup
built in; I assume too many people building new with a generator
element or solar; work around was a separate backup panel.
PEX pipe fittings using the copper "L" shape for stubbing out
the wall; work around wall using pipe bends to make the PEX do a
nice 90 degree and come out the wall directly.
Two exterior doors are still on back order; work around bought
and installed a used exterior door to make due.
Garage door on hold until January awaiting hardware. Work around
plywood wall with man door so we can heat it.
Plumber could not get well wire anywhere in the eastern part of
Canada or the us. Rationed cable was air shipped from the west
       coast...
       Lots of other ones.
It's all added delays and money. Luckily we are doing the work
ourselves for the most part so it's just time and frustration.

That's the reason it's not included in the comparison chart.
The idea is to convince people that switching off a few kights
in the McMansion will make a significant dent in electricity
consumption. Problem is, there are way more consumptive uses,
       besides mining bitcoins.
       A few:
       Air conditioning
       Electric Heating
       Electric stoves for cooking
       Street Lighting
       Aluminum refining
       EV Cars and Tucks
       Subways and LLght Rail transportation
       etc, etc, etc.
Now NYC made gas stoves illegal for all new buildings. That
means they will all need electric stoves. Gas stoves are far
more efficientt, not to mention far better to cook on. Dumb and
       Dumber.

[/quote]I would say gas stoves are more efficient if your
electric grid is natural gas driven. It also presupposes that
the natural gas grid is in place. It is a huge dangerous
infrastructure compared to electric. I have made peace with
electric cooking while in the apartment after 20 years of gas.
Conventional flat top electric soso, The newer induction units
       are better than gas.
Induction in the new house. Barbecue side burner for power
       outages or a hotplate.

Bitcoin currently consumes around 110 Terawatt Hours per year —
       So from the graph 62 + 24 + 15 + 12 + 10 + 7 = 130 Terawatt
       Hours per year.
Almost, but you will have to wait until next year for bitcoin to
       consume more.
