In case you haven't noticed, I have been offline for several
days. The phone I bought to replace the phone which went dead
died also after just 6 days. Screen also crapped out.
This occurred right when we got a massive hurricane force
windstorm that lasted for several days. The wind has slightly
calmed down today. None of my PCAs showed up from Sat to today.
       I was totally cut off.
The Kentucky Fried Chicken completely blew away, the roof here
was damaged. Many cars and trucks blown off the roads. I lost
power for 6 hours, the PCA who showed up today lost power for 3
       days.
I got in touch with Brian by asking a neighbor to use his phone,
and a mutuual friend brought over a new phone today. I am
trying to get a landline internet installed also, but do not
       have it yet.
This has been a very rough couple of weeks for me. A real taste
       of collapse in action.
If you don't see me online for more than a couple of days, call
the wasilla police and have them check on me.

Good question. I am in the same boat as most others of course, I
feel significant, important, in my family and professional life.
Should I die, folks will cry, etc etc. It is a fraud. It is a
fraud and anyone with a broad enough perspective runs smack into
       it in a nanosecond.
My feelings, as real as they are to me or yours to you, have no
more to do with our species or planet's value/significance than
an ants thoughts on the usefulness of nuclear power to help
mitigate climate change. I've got a talent for handling
       cognitive dissonance it seems.
       [/quote]
Maybe in another multiverse ants think about nuclear power and
climate change, but not our own and your claim about
insignificance was for the individual, not the species or
planet. I won't ask whether the entire Milky Way is significant,
or why, as an ant is every bit as integral to the whole as any
scientifically understood as uninhabited and unloved galaxy. Wrt
Hawking's Black Holes, if the ant vanishes the universe
       implodes.

RE FINALLY gets Home Internet again
   DIR By: RE
       Date: January 13, 2022, 6:04 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
It took a few weeks and a lot of headaches, but I now have home
       wifi again.
It all began when the screen on my smartphone crashed, which was
at the time my only connection to the world at large. Then
after several days incommunicado, I finally got a new phone.
That lasted 5 days before it also crapped out.
Then we had our windstorm and no PCA help for 3 days.
So I decided I needed a backup communication system to the phone
and called MTA to install a home internet system. Apparently I
owed them $104.31 for a bill dating back to 2010, which I never
received. To pay this bill, they wouldn't accept payment over
the phone by credit card, nor would they accept a personal
check. It took several more days to get someone to go to the
bank for me and get a Cashiers Check. Then more days for their
billing dept to record the payment and another day to get the
installer over here. Hours were spent on the phone trying to
       get this done.
Today I also had my Cardiologist appt via "tele-medicine"
because right now I don't feel safe to leave the digs. But it
fulfills my promise to the EMTs that I would see a Cardiologist.
:) He wants to put a heart monitor on me, which I said is fine
as long as they will send someone here to put the stickers on
me. Otherwise it will take until the spring when the ice is off
the pavements before I will venture outside again. He said he
will look into it to see if that is possible. Also probably
prescribe another Statin, which have always just made me feel
       worse.
For today however, I ate an egg and a little mac & cheese and
took a multivitamin and iron pill.
       Another fun day above ground.

       🏥 RE is Dying 2 - Omicron?

OK! As the few regular readers here know, I have been going
through about a month of feeling "worse than expected". lol.
Downright awful actually. I now think I know what was going on.
Based on the latest in epidemiological studies, symptoms of
Omicron infection occur in the Throat, and can include Nausea,
Vomiting, Diahreah and Night Sweats. I had them all, except the
Vomiting, because I simply do not eat enough to vomit up
anything. lol. Plenty of Dry Heaves and Retching though.
The GOOD NEWZ. My immune system finally stepped up to the plate
last week, and after 2 incredibly bad nights, it's ALL GONE now!
:) I feel like my usual awful self again!
I didn't take a COVID test, so I can't know for sure on this.
Hard to explain otherwise though. It will take a tougher
variant then this one to put me down. ;D

When I said " Never got the Flu", what I meant was it never
affected me much. I probably had it numerous times, along with
the Common Cold virus. Sniffles and a cough for a couple of
days. This episode was more of a problem, due probably both to
my advancing age and greater virulence of this virus.

   DIR By: RE
       Date: February 18, 2022, 10:57 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Well, it has been a hellacious couple of weeks here for RE in
the battle to stay above ground. Fought on two fronts, dealing
with physical misery, and dealing with a virtually useless and
       dysfunctional medical system.
It all began with a recurrent problem I have had with my GI
tract. Periodically, it becomes impossible for me to eat
because I suffer from extreme nausea, and if I do put some food
into my mouth and swallow it, retching and dry heaves follow.
These episodes can go for an hour, and it is painful and
exhausting. So I stop eating. This eventually screws up my
electrolytes and hemoglobin, and then I get acute anemia. The
first time it occured about 3 years ago, I dropped 40 lbs and
then needed 2 units of blood and a few days with IVs to get my
       electrolytes back in balance.
This time, I also happen to be wearing a Heart Monitor, due to
the Cardiac A-Fib I went into after the fall going to get a
replacement phone. The Cardiologist wanted to monitor my heart
for a month, so I have had it on during this entire Nausea-No
Eating episode. As it turns out, I have had episodes of V-Tach
(Ventricular Tachycardia)during this time. I suspect those
episodes correspond to the retching and dry heaves episodes,
which make my heart go into overdrive.
So anyhow, now I am back to dealing with the medical industry,
and in this case my PCP writes a scrip for meds which supposedly
help with nausea and the cardiologist wants me to take a med
that slows down your heart rate. In NEITHER case are they
dealing with the UNDERLYING CAUSE, which is that there clearly
is something wrong with my GI tract. They are treating the
       SYMPTOMS, not the DISEASE.
My PCP tells me to go to the ER. Has HE ever been in an ER
waitng for somebody to come to your cubicle? Does he do
ANYTHING? I couldn't even get him to order blood test draw from
the visiting nurse service, which mostly does not actually
visit. They call you on the phone to ask how you are doing.
They need an order from a DOCTOR for a "Skilled Nursing
Service". What dooes Medicaid pay them to call you on the
       phone?
My Cardiologist was more agreeable, though he wanted me to come
to hospital also, though with a scheduled appt. Problem there
is 1st, I don't leave the digs nowadays. Not til the snow
melts. 2nd is I need to coordinate the PCA (not always
reliable), the Cripple Transport service and the Appt time.
It's close to impossible to do this. He did finally agree to
write the order for the VN service to come pull the blood, but I
didn't get a call from them yet.
Then there is the underlying issue, my GI Tract. Problem there?
NO Gastroenterologist at all in the Mat Valley. Gotta go to
Anchorage, almost impossible for me at the moment. Besides, I
saw this guy when I first had the issue, and he did about
       nothing.
Nevertheless, I still am above ground.

KDog is correct. This sucks. I'm so sorry you aren't getting
better care. You ae being treated as a commodity, an item on

and energy possible. No creative thinking. No conscience. So
unfortunate you don't have someone acting as your advocate and

being tough and hanging in there.
