You are suppose to learn that you skipped Safety and the
Love/Belonging levels and gave yourself Esteem. Your pyramid
has three levels because you are essentially anti-social.
Not that it is a bad thing because when your esteem comes from
belonging as my socialization pressures me to do, you are
screwed when the love and belonging that feeds you goes away.
Hell you can't trust people anyway so if it works for you, it
works.

Where Does The Big Sleep Go?
DIR By: Glainty Glassaische

---------------------------------------------------------
What's cool about 'the big sleep' is that it might take us to
the end of our universe 'just like that', in the blink of a
relative eye, and then we wake up again in a new one, maybe from
'soil' of the old...
So all that time-- quadrillions of years or way more, after
black holes and neutron stars and white dwarfs and all those
other strange relics finally disappear into non-existence-- gets
infinitely-shrunk relative to our current experience into a kind
of soul singularity and we do it all over again as consciousness
slows time down for us again.
Maybe we come back as a bird or a bug that gets squashed almost
immediately after birth.
Maybe RE's soul returns as some kind of short and very muscular
and thick-boned creature on a planet with much more gravity than
our current Earth. Maybe he has 8 legs and can afford to lose 4,
who knows. Maybe he's able to fly or glide in the planet's thick
and dense atmosphere.

He survived longer than usual maybe because he was able to tap
into the universal mind which transcended a little bit the
limitations of his physical self.
...Well, you never know...
What's cool 8) about Hawking, if I have this aspect correct, is
Hawking Radiation, because it seems to function as a kind of
uniter/connector of one universe to another and therefore
represents infinity. This is assuming that many if not most
black holes are and/or contain a universe.
The importance of infinity to me is about free will versus
determinism. If we have infinity, then it effectively breaks
absolute determinism, and therefore we are free individuals by
virtue of the possible fact that we exist in infinity and
therefore infinite variables act upon us to render our actions
and thoughts,

BJ replied to that post saying something about a little
knowledge not being enough to offer opinions because of rare
cases, and posted an article explaining why Hawking lived so
long. This was an article by a neurologist in Taiwan. The post
was removed for some reason, but I read it and ironically I
believe I now know what explains hawkings lifespan.
First, let's use that article to learn from, as its typical of
the TNI/MSM today and the reason faith in it plunges ever lower.
The article mostly sang the accolades of Hawking, clearly the
Taiwanese Neurologist was a huge fan. The bottom line was that
Hawking was an amazing person and so had an amazing will to
live, as well as very good care. That explanation may satisfy
the gormless, credulous, clueless, naive and trusting normies
who still have full faith in official narratives. To critical
thinking readers it is just typical of legacy media propaganda.
They all know there are people with amazing will to live, dying
of terminal conditions every day and if the amazing will was
involved, it should have prevented or slower the progression of
the condition in the earlier stages. Good care, including
physiotherapy and even ventilated breathing are available today
as well, but don't result in lasting 50yrs that I'm aware of. I
would be much more satisfied with pointing to brain plasticity
and regained function in some cases with different conditions as
a possibility. Full disclosure at the end of that article was it
was funded by the US military.
Thanks to Buddy's first post I learned that Hawking published a
book in 1974. Thanks to the deleted post, I learned from the
article explaining to the semi conscious how Hawking lived so
long, he was diagnosed when he was 21.
I figured he was probably at least 30 when he published the
book, so was diagnosed in the 50s or early 60s. Wiki says his
DOB is Jan 1942, so it would have been 1963.
BJ asked in the deleted post if ALS is a subtype of MND. Yes it
is, but in Europe it is more often called Classical MND, in
America known mostly as Gherrigs disease (after a famous
baseball player who had it).
He would have stopped playing right about when he was diagnosed
if he was playing at the time as it would be impossible.
It's a well known phenomenon that now it is almost entirely
older people who get ALS, but before about 1960, younger people
also had it a lot more often. Today if you said a baseball
player has MND, I would assume they had already stopped playing
years ago. It is not understood why this is.
I think Hawking was misdiagnosed in 1963 and had PLS, not ALS,
but never corrected the record when that became clear later. The
mistake is understandable, since PLS is extremely rare, MRI and
CT not available in 1963.
PLS only affects the upper motor neurones (brain), unlike ALS
that affects both upper and lower (brain and spine) PLS is a lot
more gradual, although there are cases where initially only
upper motor neurones are affected and later lower also, that
would be my guess for him. With PLS, dying after 20 yrs is
typical but a normal lifespan is not unusual.
Re all the quantum physics, I have no idea. I get the sense he
was also a celebrity because of being in a wheelchair and
communicating via technology, looking at words that transcribed
to digitised sound like a cyborg. This makes very futuristic TV,
answering questions and talking about missions to Mars like an
all knowing half human supercomputer.
If you ask me to name just one more contemporary physicist, I
can't, only a few past ones for very practical and applied
contributions, eg Einstein, Oppenheimer, Tesla. People tend to
love the story of the struggle and overcoming odds, plus the
semi cyborg aspect of Steven Hawking. I'm sure his ideas and
work were also inspiring, I just don't know anything about them
to comment.
On determinism and infinity, my take is you need to explain the
purpose of existence or life to put the idea in context.

Why does existence or life need a purpose? Seems a bit of a
random human construct...that our life needs a purpose any more

'Homo sapiens' means 'wisdom' and 'same as or like us'. Your
suggestion is we are all the same as Homer Simpson, incapable of
contemplating or being what GG was talking about, infinite.

'Homo sapiens' means 'wisdom' and 'same as or like us'. Your

contemplating or being what GG was talking about, infinite.
Yes...humans are inflicted with hubris on a massive scale, us
thinking we are so wise and all. My suggestion is not that we
are the same as Homer Simpson, but that we are delusional as to
our importance, regardless of how clever and wise we want to
think we are.
What's with the dorky video? I know RE throws up golden oldie
songs which dates his taste in music, but Brittany Spears
singing in some form of afterthought clothing seems to have as
much thought in it as the guy in the suit. And is more
interesting to watch to boot.
What importance do we think we have, which you know better than
the rest of us we do not?
The Homo Sapiens song is painful to watch, but not less relevant
than the meme on individual insignificance in the question of
infinity GG raised.
KD also occasionally throws up old song clips here and there.
Points are awarded for obscurity and decades since airplay, so a
horrible one hit wonder from forty years ago is hard to beat for
bonus points.

I posted a meme above that perfectly demonstrates the importance
of us individually, and collectively. What else about our
"importance" do you believe I am missing?

Painful is not what I implied when comparing it to the value of
Brittany doing the same. And the meme was framed from the
perspective of an individual, but it also includes the entire
species. And planet, and solar system, for that matter. I get
gout on occasion, that is painful, Devo videos or guys in
amusingly colored suits don't qualify.

Sure. The songs posted here, and at the dinner, always seem to
brand us as a bunch of old farts. Just an opinion, but one
influenced by having a couple of kids who exist in the youngling
world, so I am forced to bump into their musical entertainment
on occasional as well. Sure not the stuff us old farts grew up
with.

Bonus points for....what? Old farts with enough computer skills
to post old videos? I can post images, maybe not videos, so I
give you best.

I've posted lyrics instead of video for your benefit now. Mere
millions and billions mentioned below, so how much more false
the iimportance any poor person gives to their money must be,
when the $upply expands by trillion$ every year.
Whenever life gets you down, Mrs.Brown
And things seem hard or tough
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft
And you feel that you've had quite enough
Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned
A sun that is the source of all our power
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour
Of the galaxy we call the 'milky way'
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point
We go 'round every two hundred million years
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, the speed of light, you know
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there
is
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely is your birth
