Mass shootings are up nearly 73% so far in 2021

Three and a half months into 2021, mass shootings in the US have
increased nearly 73% from the same period last year — and gun
violence researchers say each new shooting is likely to spark
another in a contagion effect.
There have been 147 mass shootings in the US since New Years
Day, compared to 85 such incidents between January 1 and April
16, 2020, according to data published by the Gun Violence
Archive. A mass shooting is defined in the database as an
incident where four or more people were shot, not including the
shooter.
Mass shootings in 2021 also have been deadlier than early last
year. According to the Gun Violence Archive, 176 people have
been killed so far this year compared to 92 fatalities during
the same period in 2020.

My energy calculations having me doing kilometers. I was where
this happened one day before (Friday). It happened 16
kilometers as the crow flies from the doghouse at noon yesterday
(on Saturday).
Not mass enough I know, but being 10 miles away is worth a
couple of victims.

Every shooting is now a mass shooting or a race killing by cop.
Begs the question:
If a black guy shoots some people in a rival gang, and then a
cop shoots him, which is it? Both?

MIAMI – Three people were injured in a shooting Saturday
afternoon at Aventura Mall that sent shoppers scattering to hide
in stores and running out of exits just before 4 p.m.

Police say an argument between two groups of people got physical
outside the Hugo Boss store in the mall, and one group showed a
gun. One man from the other group pulled another gun and fired
multiple shots, according to witnesses and police.
They were bangers. My son was in a movie theatre in the mall
visiting a friend who has been working in Miami for a few months
when it happened. He came back to Seattle last night and found
Miami to be a special kind of ****-hole and never wants to go
back.
As soon as the news started getting passed in the crowd they
split out a side exit and went straight to their car and split.
Stuck in traffic trying to get on a freeway, police helicopters
going to the mall flew over them.

It is both, yes. And if none of them had guns, none of it would
have happened. Gangs, gang rivalry, cops murdering folks (often
referred to as protecting the public), without guns we would all
be like the Oom-pah Loompa's, happy, singing all the time with
plenty of chocolate to eat.
