Well Sportsfans, somewhat unbelievably, I am one of the Final
Four candidates for the position of Director of the Susitna East

The Open Question still remains, what IS Doom, and to what level
will the species Homo Sap sink before this go round of Collapse

Based on the times it has been claimed to be about to happen, is
happening, or happened recently but no one noticed, the answer
is probably tht it is relative to most everyone. Your neighbor
loses their job, it is a recession,, you lose yours, it is a
depression, right?
It is an open question because it can be whatever we want it to
be. In the greater schema of no one gets out alive, it is just a
minor subset of the WHY, and not much more.

I am a firm believer that most of us on this board aren't going
to be knocked off by some big and impersonal DOOM, but by the
small and personal and common.

I seem to recall Mike Ruppert having a similar theme, back
during his LifeBoat hour days? Can't save everyone, make
lifeboats, etc etc. Got tired of waiting around for it maybe?

The Ring of Energy Politics. Round she goes.

Yes FarmGirl. Doom was a part of everyday life forever until
fossil fuels came along. Then excess energy led to mass
delusion and mental derangement. People went to seed. Now we
all have to deal with a mortality modern life tried to pretend
was not there.
Life is a struggle, many want to give up. Things are getting
interesting.
Giving up is much easier than thinking things out and dealing
with reality. But people like easy. A revolution is too much
work.
A revolution would be appropriate but 'we' don't have enough
intellectual horsepower to know what to do on the other side.
Or enough love.

Glad to see you are still in the fight, RE.
Your refrain of SAMAYC is what first drew me to the Diner, as
this is essentially my focus. I agree that what we face will
probably not be extinction for the human race, but a rapid
die-off to levels that will be more sustainable - for a while.
We are in the beginning phases and it is not likely you and I
will see the end. No matter what gets us, the important work is
to mark out a path - for those who remain - to live lives with
the possibility of some dignity, meaning and maybe even some
joy.
As Mr. Hemingway said, "It is a fine world and worth the
fighting for. And I hate to leave it."
The pace of deterioration of the natural world is accelerating
and gets my bet as a primary driver of die-off, but every few
days the possibility of nuclear war seems to take the lead, with
solar flares, magnetic pole shifts, famine, new custom built
diseases and social and civil conflict coming up on the outside.

We (as a species) face a grim future, of this there is nn doubt.
Anyone who does deny this needs a good smash on the head with a
Sledgehammer. But Population Knockdown dpes not equal
Extinction. 75,000 years ago by the DNA mitochondrial record,
our species suffered a Knockdown that took us down to around
10,000 Human Souls or 1000 Breeding Pairs. What actually
caused that knockdown remains a disputed point amongst the
Indiana Jobeses of the academic community, but that it did occur
is NOT disputed From that last set pf SURVIVORS, we grew to
now near 8B people.
Done once, it can be done again. Hopefully we (as a species)
are a bit smarter about it on the next go round.
If YOU wanna be one who makes it through the Zero Point, now is
NOT a good time to be a QUITTER. I won't make it much longer,
but bad as things can be for me on a daily bassis, I just do not
quit. Losers QUIT. Keep on fighting to the end.

Oh, people didn't stop dying just because humans began using
coal and oil and whatnot. Maybe they just didn't die as soon as
they once did.

Struggle being relative, do you have any favorite metrics?
Suicide rates suddenly skyrocket or just folks using more
anti-depressants? The idea that life was once not a struggle,
and today for some reason is, is interesting. Just because of
fossil fuels? To me it seems like the entire social media "look
at my great life as an influencer" is likely to make people
depressed as anything.

Everyone likes easy. My metric of a world gone wacko is the fact
free nature of our social interactions. Fact free, alternative
facts, "I choose to not believe your facts and will substitute
my own", that sort of nonsense.
We tend to sort of villainize concepts rather than really
accurately pinning down the names of oligarchs and corrupt
individuals who are driving the state of the world and
profiteering from it.
Focusing on concepts impinges our ability to accurately envision
solutions to the problems that we face we need to be pointing
fingers at individuals we need to be publishing lists of names
not just of companies but of the people running those companies
and the connections that they have to governments.
We need lists of the subsidies that are propping up destructive
industries and we need a list of the ministers who are granting
those subsidies year in year out and yes that information all
exists in disparate silos. We need to be collating it to create
a really clear picture of who is running the world into the
ground.
Down the pyramid of needs we go. I like her question. Why
aren't we rioting?

The Big Day Arrives
By: RE Date: July 27, 2022, 4:11 am
---------------------------------------------------------
In a little less than 10 hours, I will be sitting with 6
Directors and the CEO of MEA interviewing for the position of
Director of the Susitna East district electric power, which
includes Wasilla & Palmer. I have no idea what they will ask
me, what the job responsibilities are, what it pays or anything
else relevant to a job interview.
I am about as physically cleaned up as I get these days, and
have my freshly washed best Cripple Clothing ready for the trip
in the Cripple Delivery Service Van to MEA Headquarters around
11 AM. My outfit needless to say is NOT Suit & Tie. lol. That
I actually have functional clothing that works for me has taken
a lot of experimentation.
I will report 2moro on how it went.
