       Belkan Orthodoxy

The Belkan Orthodox church is one of the oldest extant religious
institutions in the region. The Belkan Church teaches that it is
the One, Holy, True Church established by Derpus Flerpis in his
Great Commission to the apostles. It practices what it
understands to be the original Flerpian faith and maintains the
sacred tradition passed down from the apostles.
The religious authority for Belkan Orthodoxy is not a central
entity but the scriptures as interpreted by the seven ecumenical
councils of the Church, located in each of the current
territories. The Belkan Orthodox Church is a fellowship of
autonomous churches. The Belkan Orthodox Church considers Derpis
Flerpis to be the head of the Church and the Church to be his
body. It is believed that authority and the grace of God is
directly passed down to Orthodox bishops and clergy through the
laying on of hands—a practice started by the apostles, and that
this unbroken historical and physical link is an essential
element of the true Church. However, the Church asserts that
Apostolic Succession also requires Apostolic Faith, and bishops
without Apostolic Faith, who are in heresy, forfeit their claim
       to Apostolic Succession
Belkan Orthodoxy spread throughout the kingdoms, mainly through
the long extinct Holy Belkan Empire, where it was the state
religion. Thus plays a prominent role in local cultures and is
one of the elements of said cultures promoted by the United
Kingdom of Frecoslavia, to maintain a sense of unity.
It's most prominent episcopal see is Strashnyye. The majority of
Belkan Orthodox followers live in the territories of
Frecoslavia, with less numerous communities in the former Belkan
Empire region of Strovalkia. There are also many in other parts
of the world, formed through immigration, conversion and
       missionary activity.
