       Welcome to the Nation Encyclopedia, a collective of information
       containing public details from every sovereign nation. Here, a
       list of the existing nations is compiled as well as basic
       information about them. For example, regional maps. This is also
       where you get to apply to make a new state and begin your plans
       for world domination.
       Applying for a New Nation:
       Firstly, make sure you've read and understood the forum rules
       and all the stickied posts in the University. Once that's done,
       you're going to want to take a look at the world map to find a
       place for your country where nobody else's settled. Keep in mind
       that there is an absolute hard size limit of 50 000 pixels for
       your nation.
       Once you have an idea of where you want to be, you're ready to
       apply!

       Most Followed Religion / State Religion:
       The most commonly-followed (and, indeed, essentially the only)
       religion in Rhenania is known as Solailism. In its most basic
       form under the first migratory tribes that would eventually
       settle Rhenania, the sun was worshipped as a physical deity for
       its necessity in growing crops and traveling safely.
       Over time, however, this direct belief in the sun as a god was
       supplanted by a number of prophetic movements that spread
       throughout the nation. These prophets generally claimed to have
       been born of the Sun, and appointed as the representatives of
       the cosmos on earth. Over the course of a few hundred years it
       became more common to venerate the now-deceased Prophets and
       their interpretations of stellar phenomena rather than to
       directly worship the sun.
       This shift proved useful as astronomical development advanced
       and it was determined factually that the sun was rather plainly
       inert, one of millions or billions of similar stars. Solailism
       became more and more dependent on the recorded words of the
       Prophets, with the movements of the stars above now considered
       to be interpreted by said prophets as the source of their
       decrees rather than having somehow dictated words to them.
       The primary differentiation of the Rhenanian Solailist church
       from other nations' is in its veneration of a number of
       individuals from the line of the House of Rouenne, such as its
       founder Rollo, as having been guided divinely in their goals by
       the heavens and thus considered to be prophets themselves.
       The state follows a fine line between secularity and the
       establishment of a state religion: while the Congress and
       judiciary are nominally secular, the ducal line are for the most
       part staunch Solailists. Among the population, approximately
       eighty-three percent are modern Solailists, ten percent follow
       olders variations on the religion or other faiths, and seven
       percent are irreligious.
       History:
       The first settlers to the Rhenanian river basin arrived there
       from the continent's coastal regions, migrating upriver until
       they reached the basin itself, which they found to be full of
       fertile and nutrient-saturated farmlands. The semi-unified host
       of migratory settlers dispersed along the riverside and the
       enormous freshwater lakes. Eventually they came to form a number
       of clans, who feuded intermittently with one another for
       resources and lands. In times other than those of strife,
       however, the tribes generally maintained amicable relations with
       one another, and exchanges of goods and artifacts maintained a
       relatively-unified Rhenanian culture.
       Eventually one Rollo of Rounne, a man of legendary (and likely
       mythologized) strength and wits, emerged as the undisputed
       leader of his namesake tribe at the settlement of Rouenne. An
       ambitious leader, he bound together what tribes he could through
       careful diplomacy and united the rest by force. By the time of
       Rollo's death the Rhenanian basin was a unified nation once
       more, and despite some infighting in regards to succession it
       remained so for the ascension of his son. This son, Robert I,
       was a skilled statesman, though perhaps not quite as much so as
       his father. After a number of years of rule, he came to suspect
       that it would be most conducive for the overall unity of the
       nation that it have an enemy to combine against. The kingdom of
       Iridar, to the south downriver, was perceived as the best
       option.
       Iridar had suffered for a number of years from monarchial
       disputes -- most recently, its elderly king was without issue or
       immediate male family, and the realm was at risk of being thrown
       into chaos upon his death. Robert reached out to the the king of
       Iridar, offering to bind their two royal dynasties into one for
       the sake of continuity of throne. After some negotiation  the
       king agreed, and it was decided that Robert would be married to
       his cousin. Shortly after Robert's return from this negotiation,
       however, and a few months before he was to marry the
       aforementioned cousin, the king fell ill and died. The nobles of
       Iridar, chafing at the possibility of serving under a foreign
       king, annulled the betrothal and refused to recognize the king's
       dying wishes. In response Robert raised up a mighty host of
       Rhenanians, and rode south along the river to take by conquest
       what he had barely failed to gain through guile.
       As it turned out, fate was in the Rhenanians' favor. A few
       pitched battles took place, and quickly it became apparent that
       the primarily foot-based armies of Iridar stood little chance
       against the armored cavalry of the Rhenanians. Following a major
       conflict outside of the enemy capital, in which three major
       nobles of Iridar were slain, most of the nation's resistances
       crumbled and it was swiftly conquered. In order to hold onto
       their new, richer lands, it became necessary that the royal
       family of Rouenne intermingle with local customs. Robert crowned
       himself not as the king of Rhenania but as that of Iridar,
       naming Rhenania as a Grand Duchy and granting its ownership to
       his brother and general Tancred. Marrying much of the rest of
       his immediate family to the remaining noble dynasties of Iridar,
       he was able to acquire support for this new realm.
       Our focus, of course, is not on Iridar but Rhenania. In the
       north, Tancred and his new vassals chafed somewhat at the
       transition of rule -- they had set out as conquerors and
       succeeded to the position of vassals. This anger simmered just
       below the surface for generations, and while in a few instances
       armed conflict broke out these were generally able to be
       mediated as a result of the shared dynastic relations between
       Iridar and Rhenania.
       This dynamic changed drastically for the worse several hundred
       years later, when a violent revolution came to pass in Iridar
       after a series of costly and near-bankrupting wars with nearby
       Svebia. The south was swept with liberal furor, and all of those
       members of the House of Rouenne who were present in the region
       came to find themselves facing the business end of the axe or
       the guillotine. The branch in Rhenania, preferring their heads
       to remain strictly intact on their shoulders, declared
       independence from this new revolutionary Republic of Iridir.
       Iridir, of course, was not prepared to take this without a
       fight, but the Rhenanians were prepared to put up one. Conflicts
       along the Rhene river continued on-and-off for decades, but the
       Rhenanians always managed to protect their core lands from
       incursion by the revolutionary armies. Eventually those armies
       turned their eyes to easier prey, and even later found
       themselves crushed by other foreign opposition.
       From that point on, the governance of Rhenania remained
       relatively stable. The Grand Duke, knowing that to declare
       himself a king would necessitate the appointment of powerful
       dukes and draw further ire from those of revolutionary mindset,
       instead chose to pursue a path with less chance of treachery.
       After about a year of deliberation the Rhenanian Compact was
       placed into law, a constitution that governed over the power of
       the ruling dynasty. While the Duke still held a significant
       amount of authority, this could be placed into check by a
       formalized court system and a parliament made up of
       representatives of the people, the nobility and the church.
       This placed Rhenania into a period of great prosperity.
       Innovations in industrialization significantly increased
       technological advancement and standards of living. When war
       broke out between the kingdoms to the south, the Rhenanians
       (naturally) stood oposed to Iridar once more, but did not devote
       significant military resources to any expeditions beyond the
       rivers. Eventually signing peace with the rest, they embarked
       with reasonable wealth and status onto the world stage.

       Government Type: Despotic Aristocracy. Has a lone single ruler,
       going by the title of “High Prince(ss)”. Under the High
       Prince(ss), will be 3 appointed “Princes” from 9 candidates
       drawn from the High Counts, who themselves have 3 Counts under
       them, who then have 3 Marquis beneath them, who have 3 Dukes
       beneath them, and 3 Lords beneath them, with the “Lords” in
       direct control over various cities/small regions. A High
       Prince(ss) is elected from one of the 3 standing Princes when
       the High Prince(ss) dies or steps down.
       Economic System: Centralized Command Economy with heavy national
       regulation. Trade with foreign powers is done by strict
       individual licenses for traders to bring Cargo X to Location Y
       for Price Z with deviation not accepted. However such licenses
       are easily obtained as Lorvasa thrives on Trade, they are just
       highly protectionist and take a dim view of “predatory
       merchants”.
       Leader Name: High Prince Vasili Gar’Lorik
       Ruling Political Faction: Noble born bloodlines. While most
       posts are Elected/Appointed by their lessers and majors, the
       truth is that these posts are all filled with proper noble
       bloodlines drawn from the past of Lorvasa, in accordance with
       the Falisian Reformation Movement several decades ago, that had
       reached major appeal after the failure of the empire they had
       broken away from in the wake of the Great War. Named after its
       original spokeswoman, Sey Falis, it’s a traditionalist movement
       filled with heavy amounts of national pride and a belief in the
       glory of past figures of Lorvasan Nobility that they seek to
       embrace again.
       Most Followed Religion / State Religion: Lorvasa has freedom of
       Religion, and most neighboring powers and historical partners do
       have at least a minor presence of their Faith within Lorvasan
       borders, though Religions are kept clear of the halls of power,
       with the LSS often cracking down on “Dangerous” religious
       figures that might cause trouble. Most native Lorvasans tend to
       worship the The Black Way, a religion based on reincarnation and
       seeking of perfection in your current incarnations life. Such as
       a Farmer believes that they are supposed to become a perfect
       Farmer, having mastered all there is to the life in their
       current life, and by doing so will break away from the cycle of
       reincarnation to join The Black Way. It is also believed that
       those who join The Black Way will return to the world when it is
       on the brink of final disaster to guide and protect the faithful
       Lorvasans. All in all it is an ancient religion that they have
       never thrown.
       History: Lorvasa in the ancient times was never a true, global
       power. The best they could claim was to be a mercantile power
       with a strong naval tradition. Ships of strong Lorvasan wood and
       sail plying the trade routes of the Sea. Most actual military
       conflict was internal rather than external, rivals between noble
       families over control of the more scarce resources in Lorvasa.
       The Sagas of ancient Lorvasa are many, of great explorers,
       artisans (they are particularly proud of their music and wood
       carvings), and the warrior kings of noble families.
       When the War of Ruthless Aggression (As they call the Annexation
       by Ryudinia) came, the Lorvasans were ill prepared for it. The
       people were fractured into 8 different Noble Power Blocks, who
       only decided to work together against the external threat when
       it became clear that it wasn’t just a small border skirmish or
       absorbing the least of their rivals into Ryudinia. No peace was
       available, and honestly Lorvasa could not have stopped it, as
       they were still technologically backwards and far out manned.
       The War of Ruthless Aggression is a dark spot on Lorvasan
       history and it isn’t unusual to hear more nationalist Lorvasans
       speak bitterly about the humiliation and cruelty of the war when
       it comes up.
       Since the annexation Lorvasan culture was suppressed by the
       Ryudinians, who for several generations took a very dim view of
       the outside Emperor and their own laws and culture. Along with
       perceived crimes like the dismantling of the Lorvasan Nobility,
       seizure of the Lorvasan naval assets and property to serve the
       Ryudinians left a very bitter insurrectionist movement in the
       nation, only kept in check by the superior military power of the
       Empire of Ryudinia.
       During these years of occupation the Falisian Reformation
       Movement formed, bringing together the disparate, grumbling
       factions of Lorvasa under the guiding doctrines and theories of
       Sey Falis. It became a strange time in Lorvasa as it outwardly
       appeared more Peaceful than ever before in its history of
       occupation, with acts of sedition cut down to practically zero
       as dissidents were gathered together, training in the Lorvasan
       wilderness, gathering supplies, and preparing for the day to
       overthrow their overlord.
       When the Great War broke out, these plans were almost ready to
       enact. The troops pulled out of Lorvasa towards the meat grinder
       of the battles against foreigners. Lorvasan men conscripted and
       forced to fight in a war they didn’t see as their own cause. 3
       years into the conflict, Lorvasa broke out into massive, violent
       rebellion starting with the Colonial Administration Office of
       Ryudinia seized by the first High Princess of Lorvasa, Kallis
       Gar’Lorik, rising the flag of Lorvasa once against over the
       Homeland.
       The War of Salvation though did not end in that lightning
       strike. Ryudinian soldiers were pulled from the front to restore
       order, and regain control of the pivotal transportation hub of
       Lorvasa. In bloody, brutal urban siege warfare the High Princess
       Kallis Gar’Lorik lost her life, fighting against the 5th
       Imperial Corps. Her son, was chosen to be the new High Prince,
       Vasili Gar’Lorik, to continue the War of Salvation against
       Imperial Ryudinia, which saw grand cities of Lorvasa turned into
       broken, bombed out shells of their former glory, scars that
       still exist in the nation to this day.
       The War of Salvation ended with what Lorvasa sees as total
       victory, following the proclamation of Independence handed from
       Emperor Serafin of Ryudinia. Relations with the Empire remains
       bitter, as most Lorvasans alive now have lost something to the
       brutality of the 5th Imperial Corps during the War of Salvation,
       along with the nationalist movement of the Falisian Reformation
       taking hold. To say in this day that Lorvasa is still on a War
       Footing and appears more like an armed camp to outsiders than a
       peaceful nation isn’t at all incorrect. The LSS is an active
       presence felt around every corner, the Lorvasan Royal Guard is
       constantly being rebuilt and trained to properly resist what
       they see as the inevitable conflict with the Empire.

       History:
       To understand the current state of the Socialist Republic of
       Ryudinia, one must first understand the historical context. In
       the year 1487 of the Common Era, the lands of what would become
       the republic were not yet part of Ryudinia at all. Indeed, they
       were primarily comprised of many small factions and petty
       lordships. Unable to band together to stop conquest by the
       invaders from the Southwest, they fell one by one. In the years
       that followed, programmes of settlement and cultural
       assimilation had driven almost all of the old populace out of
       the lands now claimed by the Imperiya Ryudinia.
       Among the lands they fled to was Entokia, which as a large
       kingdom was able to put up fierce resistance against the
       Ryudinians. Similarly, Celestina put up a fight, though was
       eventually subjugated also.
       Over the course of the next few hundred years, these settlement
       programmes continued, and by the 1800s, the lands of Northern
       Ryudinia were considered fully assimilated into the empire,
       though those in the east still retained their heritage.
       Separate from the capital of the empire, however, it was perhaps
       inevitable that the lands of the North would become something of
       a haven for free thinkers and philosophers, able to hide
       themselves away in the vast jungles and mountains. It was in the
       mid 1800s that the ideas of socialism began to take root here,
       and by the turn of the century, there were several large groups
       of dissenters waiting for their opportunity to sieze power and
       mold the country into something better. This opportunity came
       with the Great War of 1914. The Imperiya Ryudinia suffered
       terribly in this war, and by the end, the empire was crippled.
       In the aftermath of the Great War, what was once the Imperiya
       Ryudinia disintegrated. Fascists in the southern homeland
       incensed at the breaking off of huge portions of the empire,
       lead a coup which deposed the emperor and siezed power in the
       south.. Those socialist militant groups in the north, seeing
       this opportunity, broke off in a relatively bloodless
       revolution.
       The People’s Army, an alliance of all major socialist groups in
       the country, swept across the land, casting down tyrants,
       reactionaries and fascists alike. Within seven months, they had
       cut ties with the south and formed a coalition government, now
       comprised of three main partiess, each only bound together by
       necessity.
       It is now 1920, and this coalition has become uneasy. Calls for
       elections are increasing in volume, and rumours spread across
       the streets that it won’t be long now before the tensions in
       this fledgling republic boil over.
       The Syndicalists cry out for the government to press onwards
       with the internal revolution, to transition into an anarchic
       utopia, free from the chains of landlord and government alike.
       The Totalists call for further centralisation, claiming that the
       people should not be expected to have a hand in the running of
       the state. They claim that a strong, centralised political force
       is necessary to keep the revolution alive.
       The Democrats insist that the current form of government is
       ideal, where all have a say in the workings and yet there is
       still strength behind the government’s policy. They advocate for
       a permanent revolution, for the country to push onwards and gain
       allies to ensure that fascists and reactionaries cannot steal
       what they have all fought so hard to accomplish.
       There is no question that something has to happen soon. Truly,
       the only questions that now remain are those of “What?”,
       “When?”, and perhaps most importantly, “Who?”.

       into the history, bb, even if it's a very new country. As it
       currently stands there are exactly two lines of it. Elaborate on
       what led to the area's settlement or communist sentiments,
       maybe.

       all the branches of government are kept in strict check by the

       essentially laissez faire, as the country thrives on production,
       and has been a net exporter for almost its entire existence,
       there are some tariffs that are applied to foreign goods

       Most Followed Religion / State Religion: The Argent Church and
       Sable Pantheon of Ee-Shak
       The warship of Ee-Shak, the god of merchants and the leader of
       the Sable Pantheon, the Pantheon includes a huge amount of
       dieties for almost every aspect of life. But the most important
       part of the religion is that death is simply a new stage of
       life, and they are born into the Afterworld, whereupon they live
       a life that is said to be incredibly similar yet vastly
       different, and when they die there, they are born again into
       this world, and so on and so forth. However, while widely
       followed, the religion is not mandatory and there are numerous
       other, much smaller religions.
       History:
       The history of Eestliionaalia dates back many years, the area
       was originally settled long before recorded history, and with
       the persistent and heavy tree cover, the skin of the local
       populace is almost as light as their cousins up on the northern
       continent. The country was once a conglomerate of disparate
       kingdoms and lordships with no coherence, till one day, long
       ago, Valyreis Eelane founder of House Eelane conquered the
       lands. Knowing the Disparate Nature of his subjects, he ceded
       his powers of wether rulings were just, to a court chosen by his
       subjects, and his ability to make laws, and his executive power
       to an assembly of lords, ten from each new province, that was
       chosen by the people.
       However all was not well, not all lands took well to this new
       power, and as such there were rebellions and minor incursions.
       However the armies marshaled to conquer the lands were put to
       use crushing these insurrections, and after a couple years,
       there were no more, growing complacent, the assembly disbanded
       the armies, whose soldiers went back to their previous trades,
       and defense was left to local militias, administered by their
       respective lords, the land grew rich and prosperous, and for a
       while the most excitement the militias might have was flushing
       out a particularly annoying group of bandits, but that was soon
       to change, the tribe of the nameless, as they came to be called,

       decided that the solution was to be a professional army, the
       capital was in flames and half the assembly lay slaughtered
       where they had sat. The king and the surviving nobles fled from
       the city recruiting and training an army with all possible speed
       Eventually the invaders were pushed back, while also suffering
       heavy losses, and even though this event led to the proud
       military tradition that is still in place, it left a sour taste
       in the mouths of the assembly on the subject of capitalism,
       trade restrictions mounted over the ensuing centuries, and soon
       thereafter the economy was in collapse, unable to raise funds,
       the assembly chamber grew dirty and threadbare, and the
       military, the pride of the nation, had to resort to sharing
       muskets and only being able to supply a single load of powder
       and shot for each soldier per day, the natural outcome of this
       was pioneering in the fields of rifling and metallurgy, to
       squeeze every last bit of use out of each scrap of led and iron,
       and this thrift has continued to this day, with riflemen
       drilling for days to ensure every round in their clip hits as
       close to target as possible.
       
       Eventually, the old guard faded away and was replaced by a new
       guard, who, brushing off the stories that wealth only attracted
       violence, lifted restrictions on trade, and eventually the
       economy started growing again, the assembly chamber was cleaned
       and gilded and the common man reached new standards of living,
       but it was not enough to fully recover, until the great war that
       was.
       During the great(emmerian) war, bringing their technical skills
       to bear, the economy of Eestliionaalia soared, as a arms deal
       with Estovakia led to Millions of Escots in business for local
       manufacturers, and also brought them close to another country
       for the first real time in history, after the war, Frecoslavia
       and Strovalkia were soon major trading partners, and that is
       where the modern day begins

       History:
       [spoiler]Pre-Unification (Before 1834):
       Before the unification of Svebia, the country was separated into
       many smaller states, borders somewhat similar to the current
       province areas. These microstates originally grew through a vast
       network of farming communities, which records date as far back
       as the 2nd century. United through a common currency and
       trader's union, as well as the reformed version of Solailism,
       they prospered together. The largest city in the area,
       Prussetwick (now known as Prussetburg) was the economic capital
       of the region, well into the beginning of the Industrial
       revolution. With the advancement of machinery however, other
       cities began to develop, from mechanised farming communities.
       Cities such as Rejavik to the north-west, and Slovgic to the
       south rapidly expanded due to the new growth of industry. Due to
       this, a highly aristocratic society emerged in the leaguestates.
       These families often controlled many local governments: the
       biggest of which is the Olhouser family, which still rules the
       Empire to this day.
       Unification (1834-42):
       With a developed aristocratic society, the large noble families
       began to host regional meetings and discussions, with the key
       focus being the unification of the lands. Some smaller families
       opposed the idea, however they were brought into line via the
       use of paid mercenaries and regional militaries. The Olhouser
       family - the most powerful and dominant estate in the region -
       diplomatically formed the Svebien Commonwealth. Jarl Olhouser
       was also named the first "King" of the area, of which all
       subjects below were duty-bound to serve him. He, unlike his more
       recent descendants, ruled with an open palm, therefore securing
       popular support. Rebellions against the newly formed
       commonwealth arose, but over the next 8 years into 1842, had
       shrunk to localised, non-violent political movements.
       Imperialisation (1842-1915):
       With the Olhouser family's firm grip on the Svebien region, the
       population and economical prowess of the empire grew. It had
       become one of the largest nations in the continent, and thus
       required centralisation, in order to remain dominant. As such,
       reforms began to create an Imperial Svebia - or Svebien Empire.
       The idea of which wa smet with open hostility, including a small
       civil war in 1857, where over 750,000 people died as a result of
       the rioting and fighting. Naturally, due to their overwhelming
       power and economic strength, the Olhouser dynasty was
       victorious. With the dissenters vanquished, the Svebien Empire
       could form, and consolidate it's power over the local region.
       The Aftermath of the Great War (1915-1920):
       The Great War began over the (Svebien-Named) Hoollousten region.
       Controlled by Iridar, the Svebien military amassed at the
       border. Trenches were dug, and millions of Svebiens lost their
       lives. The national population fell within the 5 years of
       fighting, from a significant 62 Million, to the 50 Million it is
       today. 12 Million people, volunteering to fight, or otherwise
       conscripted towards the end of the war, to fight the
       outnumbering Iridar-Ryudinian forces, lost their lives on the
       front lines. The war ended in a Svebien victory, after allied
       Rhenanian forces attacked the Ryudinian homeland. In the peace
       treaty, the battle-scarred Hoollousten area was annexed by
       Svebia and incorporated into it's territories. In 1920, it was
       added to the Imperial Flag.[/spoiler]
