Back to the topic at hand...
Iīm going to play Switzerland here, and go with Solace.
While I agree that the HP series is not as diverse as some other
famous works of a similar caliber, you have to put them in
context. Back when these books were being published, being LGBTQ
was a social death sentence, and the community was still on the
rise, plus, public opinion was very different, and if the
characters had been written more diversely, the books may not
have become as popular as they are today. Just because thatīs
not how should work doesn't make it any less true. These books
       are OLD.
On the other hand, Rowling trying to play her audience, and
pretend her books are more diverse than they are is a jerk move,
and she should know better. No excuses here.
Yes, it would be cool if the books were more diverse, and yes
it's wrong of her to pretend they are, but let's be a bit open.
Stories are not set in stone. Sure, what's printed on the page
is important, but what really matters is what forms in your mind
as you read. Stories can be fluid. Have you ever read a book,
and pictured a character one way, only to see that in the movie
they were way different? HP is more than a book series, it's an
imaginary universe, where thanks to magic, anything can happen,
       so maybe we can stretch our brain, and bend the rules a bit;
       Okay?
Regardless of your opinion, or your belief, or who you agree
with, we all have the right to speak our mind, and that right
will not be restricted on this site, not now, not ever,
otherwise we can always make a GIQ2 with a new Admin. (that
contingency plan won't be necessary I hope.)
