No, we would know almost instantaneously, because our sun probes
would be obliterated, and NASA would be informed. From there on
out, it would be all over the radio. However, I could also argue
that many people would never know, because they would not be
informed of what was happening before we all get consumed by a
fiery inferno.
Side note: I REALLY need to read the book Inferno.
