The color Green, or is it Red?
By: Kevinshiphopdad Date: November 7, 2019, 9:37 am

This question has bugged me a lot recently. Is your red the same
red as my red? It seems confusing, but the question is actually
quite simple. Let's say you looked at a strawberry. Now we can
both agree the the strawberry is red. However, neither of us can
know if the red I see is the same as the red you see. The red
you see could be what I would call green, but we've both been
trained to call it red. Any thoughts?

This is actually true, as you probably know, our eyes have a
number of different parts that collect light, filter it,
transform it into information, and send it to our brain for
processing, however, we each have different levels of the things
that process light, and this affects the data we receive. So,
when I see a color, you will see that color, agree it is that
color, but by looking at a different shade of that color.
Your hypotheses take it further and make me wonder, the forum
has a bunch of red everywhere but is the red I see the same red
that you see? Is there a way we can test this? I don't think so,
our brains are already hardwired to think of a certain color as
it is, and anything related to it is also done accordingly. For
example, we think of red as emotion, passion, violence, and
blood (Mostly) but the red I see is not the red you see! do you
see my blue? maybe, but if you do, you have no way to
communicate this. After all, how do you describe color in such a
way as to not relate to anything else? It's like describing
color to someone who is colorblind. It just doesn't work! This
is a good question.

As an artist, I know that certain colors together are pleasing
to the eye. Most people find certain color combinations to be
"pretty". Would different people who see another color than me
still think that? I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I do
think the way I see red could be slightly different then how
someone else sees it, but not too much different.

I did some more digging (Research [BLEH!]), and here is what I
have found out.
1) this is a REAL THING
2) While we all see different colors, based on our knowledge of
the human eye, the difference between what we see is minuscule.
3) more research is being done.

Do we need to discuss this? We talked about this last year in
science. It has to do with the retinas in our eyes and what
color they percieve

Even if you've already talked about it, the whole point is to
have an in-depth discussion.

One of my theories about this is that everybody's fvaorite color
is the same color, but what we see that color as has a different
name than what somebody else sees that color as. That was
confusing but you get what i am trying to say. Right?
