Kounat's Collapse ("Final Final" Dungeon) Summary
By: Darkboy132 Date: May 17, 2013, 11:22 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Before we begin, let me point out important things:
[list]
[li]Wizard's Labyrinth and Monster Train 301 are confirmed to be
canon and are even referenced.[/li]
[li]The Aernas Hammer, as mentioned in Zeruel and various parts
through the dungeon, is a legendary weapon Ashtaroth used to
make Kounat go boom. He wants to do it again so he can make the
world go boom and reform it into his own image. However, it
needs the key, Mari, in order to completely activate (which is
why it backfired on him when he first used it).[/li]
[li]The Klara Libri is a tome said to contain all of Aernas'
secrets which Ashtaroth used to make the Aernas Hammer, but
somehow lost it. Though Kassias Grandiel somehow got a clone of
it, its still significantly powerful.[/li]

The Grand Chase arrive at the heart of Archimedia, immediately
taking notice of Kounat's castle, which Sieghart claims should
have been destroyed during the destruction of Kounat. Kassias
Grandiel arrives greets them and informs them of Ashtaroth's
presence, though they are interrupted by Drawl on steroids.
Grandiel heads off to confront Ashtaroth while the Chase deal
with Drawl and later, Veron, who is also on steroids. After
defeating them both, their clones appear and swarm in. However,
Arawn and Gilberta arrive immediately afterward with their
troops, setting aside their feuds to hold back the demon horde
in order to allow the Chase to move on.
The Chase is then confronted by [s]Chloe[/s] Dahlia, who taunts
Ronan of the death of Harpe Noir by Ashtaroth's hand (in Monster
Train 301) and attacks. After the dark elf's defeat, Ashtaroth,
now a big tall buff guy, arrives with a Thanatos-like attitude
and states she no longer has any usefulness. Dahlia begs for a
second chance, and Ashtaroth says "You can serve *beheads her*
by DYING!" He then sacrifices Dahlia's remains to summon several
Highlander's Specters and forces them to fight the Chase.
The Chase is forced to kill the Highlanders by destroying the
source of their immortality (their soul left behind after
destroying the body), though they are swiftly confronted by the
ressurrected Graham, the leader of the Highlanders. Grandiel
arrives and informs the Chase that Graham's soul is much
stronger than the other Highlanders and cannot be destroyed by
normal means. He employs the use of the Klara Libri's clone,
though he regretfully informs Sieghart that his friends cannot
be saved. After Graham's defeat, the Highlander's consciousness
returns and speaks to Sieghart. Recognizing his old friend,
Graham manages to reveal that Ashtaroth is activating the Aernas
Hammer in order to recreate the destruction that annihilated
Kounat. However, Sieghart notes that the Aernas Hammer cannot be
complete without the key (Mari), and that Ashtaroth does not
have it. Sieghart swears vengeance as Graham's soul fades away.
Finally confronting Ashtaroth, the Chase have no problem
defeating his pitiful beefed-up form, so he turns into a demon
and goes King Nasod mode and is still beaten, a result of
Grandiel's training in the Wizard's Labyrinth. Grandiel arrives
and tries to convince his old friend to stop, but Ashtaroth
ignores him and uses the power he gained from the Aernas Hammer
and begins godmodding by effortlessly causing Sieghart's Raging
Flame Sword to do 0 damage. Grandiel warns that normal attacks
will not affect Ashtaroth, but since he doesn't have the key,
the clone of the Klara Libri's power can kick his ass.
So instead of the Grand Chase effortlessly doing their one-shot
move on previous bosses, Grandiel takes his crappy time to
whittle Ashtaroth's health while deploying a barrier that
effortlessly nulls his attacks. After defeating Ashtaroth once
and for all, the Aernas Hammer suddenly teleports Mari to the
field. Void arrives shortly afterward and blasts Mari to prevent
the Hammer from completing itself. Grandiel sacrifices himself
to trap himself, Ashtaroth, and the Aernas Hammer into the
Wizard's Labyrinth for all eternity.
Arawn and Gilberta then arrive at the scene and immediately
become wary upon spotting Void, though the misunderstanding is
quickly cleared by Dio, telling both of them that they can trust
him. Void then proceeds to wiping out Mari's memories of the
Klara Libri to ease her suffering, takes the book, and requests
the Grand Chase to take care of her before leaving.

My thoughts:
Okay, WTF is this? This has got to be the worst final final
dungeon in history. The whole dungeon itself is completely
cruddy, as well as being poorly and lazily made. The story
itself doesn't even tie in properly.
Despite Thunder Hammer establishing that a mass demonic invasion
is pouring through, only Drawl and Veron are the demons from
Elyos present. Preceding on is just Dahlia in one form with no
upgrades. Then after that are lame-looking "immortal" specters
which are nothing more than Sieghart clones and are ironically
pitifully easy to dispatch. Finally is Ashtaroth who's still an
everlasting copy of Ronan, Sieghart, King Nasod, and Arme. This
is just pure lazy; a final final dungeon is supposed to have
some sort of long and epic battle like Berkas' Lair, not cheap
mimics.
Then we have pathetic Ashtaroth who copied Thanatos' persona,
King Nasod's form and moves, Ronan's, Sieghart's, and Arme's
abilities and heck even used Summoning Jutsu: Reincarnation. How
unfortunate, a big bad boss downgraded into a copycat. To make
him even more lame, his first form only has 4 attacks, his
second only 3, and his third 3 attacks + alpha strike + summons,
all of which are incredibly lousy and doesn't even work a sweat
to dodge; he's the "final final" boss, so he should be more
menacing. To top it off, his immunity to all but an NPC is
ridiculous; the Xenia gods aren't immune to anything, even
Thanatos doesn't really need the Deity Orbs to be beaten. Heck,
what was the point of training the GC in the Wizard's Labyrinth
if they can't do jack shet? Finally, Kassias Grandiel also
effortlessly blocking Ashtaroth's attacks is even more stupid;
no challenge at all and he takes all the damn glory.
Finally we have the lame story conclusion. The Dwarves and Elves
suddenly making peace for just fighting Demons is something they
could have resolved a frickin long ago. Oh, but the thing I find
most absurd: we have Void HELPING Ashtaroth in Thunder Hammer by
stealing the Deity Orbs and thus engineering his ascension to
godhood as well as Zero's description severely and continuously
labeling Void as a big bad guy, then he SUDDENLY TURNS ON
ASHTAROTH by denying him the Aernas Hammer - WHAT THE FRICK WAS
HIS PLAN THEN!? To even make that worse, Dio immediately tells
Arawn and Gilberta off by saying he's a good guy - SO THEY
SUDDENLY DECIDE TO FORGET VOID'S ANTAGONIST PERSONA?!
