"Hmm..." The edges of Ariel's lips quirked up in amusement as
she took another sip of tea, gathering her thoughts.
"Nina?" Ariel gestured with her index finger for the maid to
come closer. She turned from Aaron to the maid who leaned
forward towards Ariel. She set down her tea and turned her body
to the side while lifting up her chin. Lifting her right hand to
her face, she blocked the sight of her lips moving as she
whispered into the maid's ear.
"Understood Princess." The maid stepped back and bowed then
disappeared in a flash. Leaving only a after-image behind.
"Now then. It's time we went on a little trip Aaron." Ariel said
as she turned back to Aaron with a small mischievous smile.
Without warning, Ariel's magic circle appeared under them. They
disappeared, only to reappear on a wooden bench with a view of
the knights training in the practice field with the barracks
nearby. Ariel stood up and started towards the knights at work.

"Hmm... Nina?" Ariel called for the maid and whispered
something.
"Understood Princess." Nina said as she stepped back, bowed,
then vanished.
"Now then. It's time we went on a little trip Aaron." the
princess said with a wicked smile on her face. Aaron gave her a
confused look, and was even more confused when Ariel's pentagram
engulfed them and sent them to a knight training hall.
"What is this for? Why bring me here?"

"You'll see." Ariel mused while giving him the same mischievous
smile over her shoulder as she continued walking
She turned to the practice field as she got closer, "Hello
everyone~! Nice to see you're all hard at work. Where's the
captain?"

"You'll see. Hello everyone~! Nice to see you're all hard at
work. Where's the captain?" Ariel said as she continued walking.
Aaron quietly followed.
"Good afternoon, princess." the knights said in unison.
"Cap's in the infirmary looking after Strategy Chief Lieutenant
and his squad. Says he got ambushed by some elves or somethin'
while movin' through the Elven Forest." Aaron gasped slightly
but low enough so no one could hear; the SCL was his father.
"The Elven Corps? No, four hundred years ago they were pacifists
and refused to take in any part of the five-year war between our
two kingdoms. Must have been Serdin's new allies, the Black Wood
Elves of Archimedia."
"Smart kid. 'Ey! You're dat SCL's boy aren't ya? Dude talks lots
bout ya, ya know? Keep being a good boy, kay man?" one of the
higher ranked knights said. Aaron simply nodded as he went on
his way.

"Cmon, we're going to talk with your dad. That was the whole
point of us coming down here. Now. Let's go." Ariel quickly
grabbed ahold of his hand and without another word, Ariel
teleported them both to the infirmary where Aaron's father lay
injured.
"She's acting normal again." A knight said to break the silence.
"I forgot she was good at magic." One knight blurted...
"How long has it been?" The higher ranked knight sighed in
wonder, going down memory lane.
"Three years? Or was it four.." Someone answered.
"Wait... they were going to meet his dad..." Someone blurted.
"..." The practice field went silent.
"You don't think..."
"No... It can't be."
"Enough!" The higher rank knight exclaimed as he snapped out of
his trance.
"Unless you're all secretly women get back to training! I don't
want to have to report to the captain we were talking about
Ariel's possible boyfriend. Goddess knows the king and queen
will have one of our heads if you're all wrong." The knight
finished with a sigh. "And it ain't going to be my head."

"Cmon, we're going to talk with your dad. That was the whole
point of us coming down here. Now. Let's go." Ariel grabbed
Aaron's hand and warped them to the infirmary. Numerous injured
soldiers were present, but the captain was not in the room. In a
corner lay the Strategy Chief Lieutenant, badly injured than the
rest.
"Father!" Aaron quickly darted to his dad and knelt beside him
and held his hand.
"Son... I had hoped you and the princess would not have seen me
in this terrible condition." Aaron's dad said quietly, coughing
up a little blood.
"Save your strength. What happened to him, doctor?" Aaron asked
the nearby doc.
"The Captain says that he was at the Elven Forest leading a
scouting party while elves suddenly ambushed and lay siege
amongst them. According to the Lieutenant's squad, they were
ordered to retreat and wait for reinforcements while their
leader held them off. He endured many cut marks all over his
body and some of his injuries are infected, but thankfully he
isn't poisoned. He'll be all right in about a week or so, we're
doing the best we can, son."
"Thank you. Oh father, I should have been there... I am sorry...
I cannot save anyone..." Aaron wept quietly.

Ariel was quiet the whole time, standing in the background. But
when Aaron started crying Ariel decided now was a good as time
as any. She gestured for the doctor to leave them alone and he
complied.
"Hello sir." Ariel said as she knelt beside Aaron. She put a
hand on Aaron's father's shoulder and in an attempt to comfort
him Ariel started healing him. Her hand glowed faintly,
unnoticeable with the sunlight coming through the window above
the bed.
" Um.. Aaron. There's no easy way to say this... so here it
goes. You're not coming with us to Alcubra." Ariel steeled her
face and made it cold and emotionless.

"Hello sir." Ariel knelt beside Aaron and placed a hand on his
father's shoulders, attempting to heal him. It didn't seem to do
much better, but at least it was something.
" Um.. Aaron. There's no easy way to say this... so here it
goes. You're not coming with us to Alcubra." Aaron looked down
and sighed.
"I understand, and that is all right. The princess does not need
me, Kanavan does." Aaron sighed and closed his eyes. He knows
it's pointless to reason with someone who thinks you're useless
to him or her, so why bother. It would also be pointless to
argue in front of an injured father, and he was more concerned
about that.
"May the Grand Chase and the Spirits bless you along your
journey. Anything else that needs to be said?"
