One night at the abandoned house in Serdin where Elisa and her
family lived, light emitted from inside of the house. The
fireplace was still useable, burning the woods at its place.
"Aeon, you are going to be a Knight Master."
Sitting on a couch, Elisa spoke, talking to Aeon in front of
her.

Aeon had known Elisa for a while now, when he started working in
Serdin’s army, he was assigned to the same platoon as Elisa.
Since both of them were talented they chained promotion until
they path separated.
Elisa’s swordsmanship allowed her to become a Swordsmaster, it
was a really prestigious post since one of them were leading the
Grand Chase.
Aeon joined the Saint Black for his tracking ability and made
vow of secrecy regarding the kingdom’s affair. Even though Aeon
had officially retired and became a gardener in the castle due
to an injury, Elisa was one of the few who knew about his new
occupation.
That’s why when they met, he was literally stunned but what she
said.
"Aeon, you are going to be a Knight Master."
As usual, Elisa was one of the few who could show a hint of
emotion on Aeon’s face and once again, it was a desperate
surprise that could be read. Unable to regain his composure, he
bursted after a long silence.
“Wh-What are you saying? You should know that Im busy! Did you
think about what other will say? What do you have in mind
again?!”
Even though he was complaining, he knew that it would be hard to
make her be reasonable.

Aeon was shocked hearing her words. Of course, Elisa wasn't that
surprised seeing his reaction. Everything she said out of the
blue always surprised everyone.
"Calm down, will ya. I'll explain..."
Taking a gulp over her tea and took a deep breath, she finally
spoke.
"By tomorrow, I won't be with the Queen. Got something to do
at... Silver Land. I need to escort someone over there."
Her words aren't very convincing, yet she tried to keep it a
secret. Everyone mustn't know about what she was going to do
tomorrow. Hoping that Aeon would accept her offer, for a day or
two.
"So... will you do this for me?" she asked, fiddling her
fingers. It wasn't really what she always do, but hopefully he
would fell for it.

Drinking some tea she resumed.
"By tomorrow, I won't be with the Queen. Got something to do
at... Silver Land. I need to escort someone over there."
There’s always at least one Saint Black hidden near the Queens
so it shouldn’t be a problem but Aeon was interested in “that”
person. Seeing that Aeon wasn’t convinced she asked.
"So... will you do this for me?"
Then Aeon noticed that she was playing with her finger, it was
really unusual, she was lying and if she tried to appeal to his
sympathy it meant it was something big. Knowing that discussion
was meaningless, Aeon postponed used his usual trick when
interrogating prisoners. He kept staring at her trying to create
a discomforting feeling and waited for her to spit whatever she
was hiding. He was ready to wait all night if necessary and had
a "I won't leave until you tell me truth" kind of look.

Aeon stared at her, as if he wanted Elisa to tell him the truth.
She knew this wouldn't work. So without further ado, she stood
up with cheer.
"Then it's settled~ Make sure to wake up early tomorrow~"
With that, she walked out of the house and disappeared without a
trace.

So she ran away... Aeon sighed, he knew it'd be like this.
Coming back to his house, he looked for his old uniform
wondering... what is a Knightmaster's duty?
How much trouble would she cause until she's satisfied?
Half desesperate, Aeon fell asleep. Somehow, he knew that the
next days would be tiring.

~Morning, before Elisa and Aeon talked~
"What did you say!?"
The Queen yelled at Elisa first thing in the morning. She had
already expected this kind of reaction, but the Queen yelled so
loud it echoed the hall. Hopefully nobody heard it.
"I have to watch over those people, and you're telling me to
take a day off!?"
"Calm down, your highness..."
"How could I!? I am the Queen of Serdin! These people are like
my children, and I must keep them watch as they grow! I don't
want any of them to be part of some thugs or whatever! I-"
Elisa stopped the Queen's yell by putting her finger on her
mouth.
"Please, your highness. You've been sitting on this throne for
years now. Do you know how it feels like being outside of the
castle?"
The Queen froze after hearing that.
"Do you know 'freedom'?"
"Uh, not really?"
The Queen had never felt how it feels like being outside of the
castle. Well, she is the heir of Serdin. All she was taught was
leading the people of Serdin.
"Then it's settled~ You're coming with me to Silver Land
tomorrow. It'll be fun!"
"B-but... who's gonna watch over the people...?"
"That has been taken cared of, your highness. Hanzo!"
Hanzo the ninja appeared in front of them as he bowed to them.
He then performed a jutsu, putting his fingers and hands
together as smokes came out from his feet. A moment later, an
imitation of the Queen appeared at his spot.
"What... is this?"
"Isn't it obvious. He'll replace you for a day or two."
"But, will he speak? I mean, he never spoke."
"Worry about that later. So please relax your mind tomorrow,
your highness~"
Thinking hard, the Queen gave in.
~The next day~
Elisa and the Queen, who was in disguise were standing in front
of the gate. Hanzo, which was the Queen bade them farewell. They
had to leave very early to avoid suspicions. The current Queen
wore contact lenses and a hooded robe.
"Is this really okay...?"
"It'll be fine, your highness. Now lets leave."
With that, they left Serdin's main gate. Riding a carriage to
the port at Kerrie's Beach.

The next day
Waking up earlier than usual, Aeon couldn’t help but yawn
loudly; thankfully no one was here to see it. He decided to wear
his old uniform which was fitting him perfectly. Before
performing his new duty, he wanted to notice his comrades not
knowing how to explain the situation.
But when he arrived to their hideout, he saw something unusual,
in the interrogation room, the room was tied and Sirion, the
Saint Black’s captain was… interrogating her?
“What’s up with that outfit? Anyway, I want you to find the
Queen ! Someone kidnapped her and replaced her with this fake!”
The fake queen was watching him obviously paniced and tears were
forming at the corner of “her” eyes. Aeon was speechless.
“… Hanzo?”
“Aeon, what are you doing here? Please save me !”
“Sirion… let him go… The Queen is safe…”
“Do you know something? Explain yourself !”
“Hanzo… the Queen is sick… She MUST NOT leave her room, okay?”
“Aeon what are you…”
“The Queen’s illness is special, and Knightmaster Elisa left to
find a cure, in the meantime you appointed the young master of
the Vindict house Lord Sirion to act as your representative and
I, Aeon Eteris as the Kinghtmaster’s temporary substitute. This
decree will be signed this morning and will last until the Queen
is cured. Also NO ONE must see, touch or breath the same air as
the Queen since her illness is highly contagious. Am I clear?”
How long was it since Aeon talked this much? He didn’t remember
but he was really annoyed. But both Hanzo and Sirion understood
that no one should talk back to him at the moment.
Once again you leave me to clean after your mess…

They were halfway of their journey. Elisa sat opposite of the
Queen, watching the scenery. A long silence broke as the Queen
spoke.
"Elisa, why are you so eager bringing me out?"
"I just felt like it." she said with a smile.
They continued sitting in silence until they arrived at Kerrie's
Beach. Awaiting at the port, were a few people and a ship. Elisa
walked to them and asked,
"This ship takes passangers?"
"Yep, all the way to Silver Land. Just 300 gold!"
"I'll take two."
She handed the money to the dealer and called for the Queen to
board it.
"By the way, I can't call you your highness from now on."
"Are you disrespecting me!?"
"Just to avoid suspicions."

“Hey, is it for real?”
“Why is the gardener here?”
“Him? Our commander? So lame!”
The knights were openly showing their disdain. But Aeon knew
it’d be like this. Earlier after sharing the roles with Sirion
and Hanzo, he went to see the sub-captain. He was a knight
around 25, which meant that he was talented to reach such a rank
at his age. He had that feeling of being weak and shy but he
was definitely hiding his skills, more importantly, his eyes
were red and he it seemed like he didn’t sleep for days.
“S-So y-you know *yawn*, captain Elisa won’t be here and the
Queen appointed Captain Aeon to replace her…”
“Tch! The Queen must be seriously ill to appoint a garderner as
a Knight captain.”
“H-Hey! Be careful when you sp-speak about the Queen or…”
“Or what? Wanna try me, huh?”
It was natural for these knights to be upset, most of them went
through the Military Academy and struggled to be appointed
knight whereas Aeon who everyone knew as a gardener and was
younger than them, became captain overnight. Seeing that
discussion was useless, Aeon stepped up to face the knight who
was complaining the most openly defying him.
“Oy… Kid… DON’T GET COKY!”
Hearing this, Aeon tilted, he was already in a bad mood but
hearing someone call him kid triggered something within him.
“I’ll teach you how to appreciate the taste of dust…”
As the knight raised his sword to make a powerful vertical
strike, Aeon dashed to close the gap between them and jumped to
kick the sword from the knight’s hands, using the momentum from
the first kick, he rotated on himself to land a spin kick which
pushed the knight several meters away on the landing, Aeon took
his dagger and threw it so that it’d land next to the knight’s
ear. Scared that the fight would get worse, the sub-captain
intervined.
“Hu-Hum… Please listen! Y-You might not know it, but captain
Aeon used to be part of our army, he was in the same platoon as
Knightmaster Elisa and he was really talented, if it wasn’t for
an injury, he could’ve become a general!"
“Tch… if he got hurt it means he wasn’t that great!
‘Brat, are you saying that you could easily dispose of three
trolls by yourself while protecting our Queen and making sure
that not a single drop of blood would reach her?”
It was a severe voice that came from behind Aeon that spoke
those words.
“Ge- General Marsh?! O-Of course no, Sir! I’m too inexperienced
to brag about such a thing!”
“Then don’t make fun of someone who could do it, beside the
Queen was the one who appointed him as a substitute captain.
Would you question the Queen’s decision?”
“N-No Sir! The Queen is our beloved ruler and I swore to protect
her with my life!”
“Then you and all your platoon will run around the casern one
hundred times and no supper for you tonight! It will remind you
of the meaning of discipline. Move up NOW!”
“SIR, YES SIR!
Even though most of them wanted to grumble, they didn’t dare to
do it in front of a genera and started running with their heavy
armorl. After saluting politely, Aeon bowed as to say thank you.
“Aeon, you kicks are as sharp as ever, it’s such a waste that
you decided to retire because of your injury. Well those guys
are not stupid, they saw your skills, so they won’t cause
anymore trouble! Take care… if only you were appointed
Knightmaster instead of Elisa… life would be easier…”
Saying those words, General Marsh left without looking back.
Elisa… teach your soldiers about respect!
