Chapter 1: Archimedia Arc
By: Semiazas Date: December 20, 2011, 3:19 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
[quote]Archimedia has long been a popular subject among the
citizens of the world. Stories about the continent has
entertained the curious hearts of children and burned the
explorative spirits of men. Tales of dwarven ingenuity that
reigned across the land, and the rebel elven forces that tried
to push them back were common when one was giving an account.
But none more were more famous than the mysterious human
civilization of Kounat, which is said to have been consumed by
demonic hordes. The humans were said to have powerful magical
abilities, and even more glorious machines than those of the
dwarves. Impossibly high structures were said to be erected by
them, shining lights so bright that it turned the night sky
white.
In reality, Archimedia is mostly known for its reputation as the
land of wars, with battles being fought out between clans more
frequently than the crops on the land are harvested in a year.
The Dwarves didn’t like the humans because of their exponential
progress in technology, while the Elves simply despised the
other civilizations for destroying forests in order erect
buildings. The relationships are so tense between the clans that
the history of Archmedia has never been properly archived, as
anyone not of the same clan will be captured and imprisoned
without notice. As such, modern civilization, even those closest
to them such as the province of Bermesiah, has never tried to
make contact with the continent.
New observations has sparked a new interest in collective
people, however: a faint light was seen by the shore of
Bermesiah in the direction of the continent. While merely
written off as an erupting volcano at first, it soon became
evident that the light was not some natural occurrence. Since
the day the light was first seen, it has since became ten times
brighter; bright enough to mask all the stars in the skies over
Bermesiah. A multitude of research teams from all over the world
were assigned to investigate the light, but not without a
substantial army guarding each one. Smaller independent groups
set sail as well, hoping explore the continent besides finding
the source of the light. All of them were in it for the same
things, however: loot and fame.

"Such a nice breeze..."
Elisa stood tall at the front of the deck. Currently on a fancy
cruise, the ship set sail towards Archimedia.
Three days before she was on the cruise, she was sleeping like a
beauty in her room at Serdin Castle. She was lazy to wake up
even though it was morning.
Hanzo came to her room, bringing the latest news. He spotted her
still sleeping. Not to wake her up, he left a letter on her desk
and disappear from the room.
Elisa remembered the letter and took it out. What was in there
was a piece of picture and a few lines wrote by Hanzo. It was a
picture of a beautiful star, but not too far from the earth. The
light emitted by it was far too bright for a normal star, making
it quite bizarre.
'This was captured at the shore of Kanavan. The location of this
light was at Archimedia.'
With curiousity, she decided to head to Archimedia. She took a
cruise ship, because it would also be a vacation for her.

~Kanavan Castle Audience Hall, Three Days Ago~
The Queen had begun to speak about the "bright light" that shone
within the distant lands. In the Audience Hall, several
elite-ranked soldiers as well as Aaron were gathered.
"Rumor has it that this 'bright light' shone within the land of
Archimedia, a mysterious land not even recorded in history. I
hear people have gone to venture to seek the light within that
continent. Some say objects found within that continent will
lead to glorious fame and wealth." The Queen said. Most of the
soldiers cheered in joy. Aaron was not one of them.
"But my Queen... Fame and fortune will not benefit Kanavan at
all. We do not need to acquire the objects that mark greed. Lady
Elesis, Lord Ronan and Sieghart the Legendary of the Grand Chase
are enough to have our kingdom recognizable." Aaron replied.
"That is very wise, Sir Aaron. Most of my advisers thought about
that as well." The soldiers murmured as the Queen agreed with
Aaron's remark.
"Please, explain how these things would lead to our kingdom's
downfall." A soldier asked.
"Have any of you read The Merchant of Venice by William
Shakespeare? A man almost died because he could not repay a
debt. If we brought a sum of wealth to Kanavan, the citizens
would become greedy for it. A civil war could easily break out."
Aaron said.
"If I may ask you knights, if you were offered a box of gold,
silver, or lead, which would you pick?" Only the first two
choices were picked. The last choice was ignored.
"Maybe you should look at this another way. Their other meaning.
The same book points out that gold symbolizes a form of greed;
all that glisters is not truly gold. Silver is a foolish desire.
And lead? You could say it as being wise." The soldiers gasped
in shock and murmured once again.
"Sir Aaron. For this case, I shall dispatch only you to
Archimedia to investigate the 'bright light.' Your wisdom,
knowledge, and resistance of greed makes you exceptional for
this task." the Queen said.
"I shall humbly accept this quest, your majesty." the Energy
Blader bowed.
"Whatever you find in there, the decision is up to you; keep the
item, leave it alone, or destroy it."
"Think what would the Grand Chase would have done. Of course,
your majesty." Aaron said and turned to leave the hall.
"Heh... We could all learn something from that knight..." the
Queen chuckled as he left.
~The Mistwalker, Present Time~
The airship Mistwalker soared through the skies, a breeze of
wind flustered and ruffled Aaron's hair. He wasn't the only
person heading to Archimedia, although he kept to himself at the
front of the ship. He also looked down and spotted a cruise ship
heading in the same direction.
"I hope it is not the greed and wealth these people are
after..."

Looking at the windows, Aeon could see a see of star, each one
shining more than the other. He made a long trip to his
homeland, Archimedia but he didn't want to stay for too long. In
fact he never knew much about this place, since he only knew the
forest on the eastern part of the continent.
He arrived through the latest Flying ship, the union between
Violet Mage guild's knowledge and dwarves ingenuity. Tomorrow
he'd have to leave Serdin's territory and cross dwarves kingdom,
go through Kounat's kingdom and reach the place where he spent
his childhood. He couldn't help but wonder how they'll react
when seeing him, afterall he left like a thief even though he
was indebted to them.
Sitting on the bed he remembered what happened a few days ago.
~Serdin's castle 3 days ago.~
Aeon was walking through the castle, even though his clothes
were a big contrast with the place he weas in, no one seemed to
care since he was one of the numerous gardener.Arriving in front
of a small door guarded by two heavy armored knight, he was
asked.
“What are you doing here?”
“I came to pick my tools, the red one with a heart shaped
handle...”
After he heard the answer, one of the guard activated a small
lever hidden behind him making the wall in front of the door
slide. Behind this entrance was a long dark stair going down.
Arriving at the end, Aeon entered a small round room, the room
was empty except for a table and a giant cross on the wall.
Beneath it, we could read : "We are the Queen's Will.”
Under the Cross, someone was sitting, smiling calmly, this
person had the highest authority on the Kingdom : Serdin's
Queen. Aeon kneeled.
“Mission complete...”
“Thank you Aeon, I knew I could count on you.”
“...”
The Queen wore her usual smile, full of kindness and wisdom, but
this time, she looked a little bit sad. As usual, Aeon kept
silent watching the Queen. Understanding that he wasn't going to
ask, the Queen resumed the discution.
“Actually... I have a favor to ask you... I know you just came
back, but you're the most suited...”
“...”
“Have you heard about the rumor in Kounat?”
“The artifact?”
“Yes, that one. I want you to go to Archimedia and investigate
it. If it happen to be dangerous, destroy it.”
“Alan is the specialist when it comes to magical artifact...”
“Indeed but there's a second thing I'd like to ask you.”
It was rare for the Queen to ask so many things, Aeon couldn't
help but tilt his head.
“If I remember well, you grew up with elves from Archimedia
right? I'd like you to make contact with them. Lately Kounat's
kingdom have been... restless and I'm afraid they are plotting
something with the Violet Mage guild.”
“A strategical alliance with the elves... if something were to
happen, they'd attack Kounat with our help...”
“Yes... It's exactly that. Unfortunately, the Violet Mage are
full of secret and I can't overlook a single thing when it comes
to them.”
As the Queen answered, we could see that she felt pain and
saddness.
“As the Queen, I can't let those who're hungry for power run
wild. Aeon will you help me?”
Aeon nodded immediately after seeing his Majesty's weak smile.
“Thank you! I knew I could count on you.”
“I'll leave right away.”
“Aeon, take care of yourself... and use some discretion, no one
must know who you really are.”
After Aeon left, someone came from the shadow.
“Your Majesty, I'm impressed by your ability to make him talk...
you'll have to teach me how to do that...”
“Don't say it like this, he's a good boy.”
“Should I send someone to keep watching him?”
“He is your comrade, have trust in him.”
…
While reminding his past, Aeon fell asleep, a long mission was
waiting for him.

After taking some fresh air, she decided to head to her room. It
would take some time before the cruise arrive. She walked along
the corridor, and after so many doors, she saw two men that
looked like a worker on the cruise panting and taking a break in
front of her. They looked like they had been running for hours.
They saw Elisa and asked,
"You've...seen a kid...around here...?"
Panting while talking, Elisa shooked her head. Whoever they were
talking about, there were lots of childrens and passangers on
this cruise. How would she know?
"That kid couldn't have gotten far..."
After that, they left. Elisa headed to her room.

>> Kanavan Eastern Docks - 30 minutes before departure
"So, why are you going to Archimedia?" The red haired girl
crossed her arms and gave a sharp look to her client. "You don't
look like a greedy warrior to me." The merchant, a petite woman
no older than the red-head, had just finished fixing up her
goods. Her bright, casual dress contrasted with the heavy armor
of the warriors and the enchanted robes of the magicians.
"I'm not a greedy warrior, Ardea! I'm a greedy merchant! Imagine
how much money I'd get from selling supplies to these macho
guys!" The merchant's eyes lit up with excitement, taking quick
glances at her potential customers. "Besides, I also have a
friend to visit."
"Yeah, Leila, but why do you need me?" Ardea asked, somewhat
unsatisfied with her answer.
The merchant bit down on her lip. "...I can't fight."
"Knew you were after the Source!"
Leila picked up her bag of goods scowling, accidentally knocking
aside a mage's sleeping Gon. "That doesn't matter. I'm paying
you to protect me! Now, come on! I don't want to miss our
airship!"
>> Aboard the Mistwalker - Present time
The airship was already soaring through the skies. Dwarven
technology along with new uses for magical energy changed
Bermesiah quite a lot, but for the better. Already, the ship was
more than halfway to the destination.
Leila's eyes danced around the airship, taking in sights of
rich-looking people rather than her surroundings (to their
dismay). Ardea sighed and looked out of the large window.
Archimedia was almost in plain sight, and the great light
shining above it.
"Hey, Ardea... Would you mind giving me a discount?" Leila
asked, shifting her eyes from a group of nobles to the red-head.
"Y'know... since we're friends and all!"
"No!"

Ariel is sitting on a bench on the Mistwalker, gazing at the sky
through the window.
"I wish Kayla could see this... Such a nice sight. I should
really come out of the castle more often. Hm... I wonder how is
she doing right now...I hope my parents don't get mad when they
find out... speaking of which.
Ariel starts fidgeting with her robe.
"I don't know why Kayla suggested I wear this robe.. She already
made me dye my hair black. And I barely go outside, not like
someone is going to recognize me. At least not in these clothes.
Ariel was wearing the clothes she has worn the day she set out
looking for the tome that now hung by the leather strap. Resting
on her lap with her hands held together on the tome. Ariel just
sighs and continues to stare out the window.
"" I hope Kayla doesn't get in trouble with my parents because
of me... Considering they know what Kayla really is...
I'll give her a call.."
Ariel closes her eyes and begins to concentrate.
Kayla..?
"Oh. Hi Ariel, how are you on the airship?
"I'm fine.. When are you going to come?
"When you land there."
"But.."
"Do you really miss me that much...?"
"Yes.."
"-mental sight- Fine. I'll come as soon as I can. I'll tell you
when I'm ready."
"Thank you so much! But uh... Can you tell me why am I putting
the tome on display again..?"
"To keep people away from you. People tend to leave magicians
alone if they don't look very welcoming."
"Is that why I'm wearing this robe..?"
"Yes."
(Robe is beige and is on top of Ariel's current outfit. And
Ariel outfit looks like this:

ignore the weapon ^^; and just imagine the tome at her side)

Kayla's side-
"I'm sorry for lying to you."
"Hahahaha, it's alright. If your there to protect Ariel I'm okay
with it."
"It's a good thing she's finally feeling like her old self."
"Yes."I'm sorry for deceiving you by..."
"It's quite alright. We understand dear."
"Thank you.."
"You put quite the show. We didn't know you were a fake."
Kayla starts to blush.
"Hurry up now, I think my little girl is starting to miss you."
"You have no idea.."
"All the more reason to hurry up dear."
"Ok, thank you. Bye."
Kayla quickly bows to Ariel's mother and father and leaves. She
closes the door to the throne room and does a quick area scan.
"Good, no one is here right now. I better hurry."
"Ariel, I'm coming now."
"Oh, okay. One moment please."
Two minutes later: "Ok. No one is around. Hold on.."
A moment later a summoning pentagram appears under Kayla's feet.
"Transfer."

"Blue! Wait!" Reiyanne cried out as she charged after him. The
little boy stopped for a moment then winked and dove down
another corridor. "Oh! Is this really a good time for this?
Please, stop!" She grimaced, thinking back how she disagreed
with Lyra about visiting, Archimedia, it suddenly felt like a
much nicer idea than chasing Blue around the castle. Then
again...I'd probably would've seen Rapier, he has a tendency of
appearing where there's treasure to be found, she thought,
pausing to catch her breath.
"Reiya!" Blue exclaimed, smiling mischievously, then started
running again as Reiyanne closed in on him. Blue and Reiyanne
had eventually closed in on the throne room. Blue stopped by the
young lady for a moment, not noticing the pentagram on the floor
then quickly leapt out of the way as Reiyanne dove at him,
barely catching her balance as she landed onto the pentagram in
his stead.

"Transferring complete. Appear."
Kayla appears along with a young lady.
"Uhhh... Kayla?"
"Oh my, I thought I made sure no one was around."
"Ummm, excuse... but who are you miss...?"
