A man with his face concealed appears.
“Huh? Who're you? Get to **** of if you don't wanna
die.”
“I'm just someone who hate animal mistreatment...”
“Are you an idiot? Who give a **** about some damn
cat?”
“... Speak... who's your master?”
The mysterious man summons a spiky ice crystal in his right
hand, but free man laughed as he took out from his pocket.
“A mage... don't make me laugh. This charm will protect me
from whatever you throw at me! Ahahahahahah!”
“Answer or die...”
"I hope he doesn't mean me too.. Wait.. if he has the pendant
then.. that means the one covering his smelly hand over my mouth
isn't immune."
Ariel closes her eyes and bows her head forward to give the
impression that she has fainted. Her captor sees this and takes
his hand off her mouth but keeps a firm grip on Ariel as if she
is a prized possession.
"Binding chains."
Invisible chains snake around the captor's legs and arms. In his
surprise the man releases Ariel and tries to move but can't.
"What the ****! **** this girl is a mage too!"
"What!?!"
The chains slowly force the man's arms to press firmly against
his side. Into a stance of the soldiers awaiting a command from
their captain.
"Pft.. I can finally breathe."
"You little ****!"
"Huh?"
The man who carries the pendant charges at Ariel. Panicked Ariel
quickly puts up a barrier in front of her. The man slams into
the barrier and curses.
"Dam ****! Stop cheating!"

"What-what are you.. what are you talking about?"
"Your using magic against me! But I have this magic pendant
which protects me against magic. STOP CHEATING YOU ****!"
"eep!"
Ariel made a small frightened noise. The man continues to ram
into her barrier but it remains standing in between the man and
Ariel.
"Wait.. If it's only magic that's directed to him then...
Hmmm...Magic.. Magic..Summoning could work.."
A sliver pentagram appears under Ariel. She starts muttering a
chant. With one hand raised to put up the barrier, she raises
her other hand and points with two fingers directly at the man
in front of her.
"Manipulated Iron Summon: Alchemic Chain!"
A sliver magic square under the man. Steel chains spring from
the pentagram and wrap themselves around the man.
"What the ****!?!? I said stop cheating ****! This is magic.
Magic doesn't work on me when I have this pendant! GOD DAMMIT!!"
The enraged man struggles to break free of the chains while
letting out a stream of curses after curses.

Even though she seemed to be in trouble, the girl managed to
free herself from the thug and use some magic spell to bind him
while she created a barrier between herself and the second one.
She would eventually bind one thug with summoned chain too.
Coming close to the first man, Rayerth cut his head from a
single swift swing as if to make an exemple for the second one.
"I repeat... speak or die!"
"HUH... I kn-know nothing, we just meet every night near the
port! There someone make us a sign and bond our eyes to bring us
somewhere by walking, sometimes they'd even use a sleeping spell
on us. By the time we recover or sight we are already in front
of our master! PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!"
"Who's your master?"
"I don't know we never saw his face, but he's tall and thin with
a young voice, since he always calls us "commoner" or peasant"
we think he's a noble!"
"..."
"KEEP YOUR PROMISE! I Answered your question right? You'll free
me right?
"..."
Rayerth approached the man and gathering mana on his hands, tore
the binding chains. He also left a present for the thug in the
process.
"Huh? Why can't I move?!"
His legs were frozen, and it was slowly repending to the upper
part of his body...
"Wait! You promised! You said you'd set me free."
"For scums like you there's no better freedom than death... See
you again in hell."
"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
The thug turned into an ice statue.
Feeling that his red shining eyes returned to normal, Rayerth
left, he didn"t want to bother himself anymore with that girl.
Beside, he needed as much rest as possible to continue his
investigation...

"... That man...He killed them. Oh my goodness.. And after all
the trouble I went through from following them. If I see him
again I'm just going... MMNNNNMMMM!"
Ariel lets out a sigh and walks back into the streets. She
retraces her steps back to the Inn and then walks back to the
castle.
"-sigh- Now Kayla's going to wonder where I've been..."

Going back to the inn for good Rayerth decided to sleep right
away. He now had some clue for his investigation and wanted to
be at his best for the next day.

After making it back to the castle Ariel wordlessly makes her
way back to her chamber. And the first thing she sees is Kayla.
"What took you so long?"
"I'll explain tomorrow, I'm tired right now."
"Ok then, here let me help you."
Kayla helps Ariel undress and fits her into her nightgown. Ariel
dismisses Kayla and goes to sleep.

Ariel wakes up at 8:30 A.M, she stretches out her arms and
yawns.
"Kayla?"
"Here."
Kayla suddenly appears in the doorway with a breakfast tray. She
walks over to Ariel and has a seat next to her bed and sets the
tray in front of her.
"So, do tell what happened last night?"
"Well, I found two men from Syndicate and followed them."
"You what -_-?"
"And.. they caught me. Then a mysterious man appeared. I got
uncaught and spell bonded one of the men. The other tried to
attack me but I put up a barrier and he just kept charging into
it..."
"He just what..?"
"Ya, I couldn't believe it either. Anyway, he just kept doing
that so I bond him with the Chains summon."
"So you used magic to bind the first one and a summon type magic
to bind the 2nd one?"
"2nd one had a magic pendant that wouldn't let magic really
affect him."
"Ah. So where are the men?"
"The mysterious man killed them after he questioned them."
"And after all the trouble you went through just to find them."
"Well I don't think I could have brought them back here anyway."
"... Don't tell me your going to try again..?"
"Maybe.. I'm bored staying up here most of the time. And it was
kind of fun.."
"Even though you were scared to death >.>?"
"..."
"Look, I talked to your father, he says he's already looking
into the situation but since I brought it up, he's going to try
harder."
"How?"
"I don't know. Send more guards into town to patrol the city?
Have spys lurking around getting information? He didn't tell me,
he just dismissed me after I told him everything."
"Well okay.."
"Don't worry, I'm sure he's going to do something about it. You
should've heard what he was yelling at some people. Hehehehe. He
said, 'WHY IS THERE STILL PROBLEMS WITH SYNDICATE!?! I KNOW YOU
ARE WORKING ON IT BUT NOW I HAVE MY DAUGHTER's MAID TELLING ME I
SHOULD DO MORE ABOUT THIS??' I ran away laughing to death."
Kayla starts laughing hysterically after recalling the memory
and Ariel joins her.

When Rayerth woke up, he felt strangely light, even though he
was injured, the feeling that his investigation were moving up
put him in a good mood.
For the third time in three day, he went to see the doctor.
"So... what is it this time?"
"... Fell on the stairs..."
"... Right..."
Sighing, the doctor started healing Rayerth's wound.
"This morning several corpse were found..."
"So?"
"... Just be careful."
Nodding, Rayerth left the doctor's office, since he was still
early he decided to go and read a book in the park.
