"Alright it's all done", the doctor said while treating his
       patient's torso.
"But how did you do that?"
       "..."
"You really are not talkative huh?"
Even though he was just ignored the doctor kept smiling as he
       was writing some notes.
"So should I expect to see you again tomorrow?"
       "..."
The patient just put some coin on the table and stood up, seeing
       this, the doctor added :
"By the way, you should be careful, the street haven't been safe
lately. It is said that a mercenary arrived and is rampaging the
city. Since we are in the slum we shouldn't expect to see the
       Royal guards."
Nodding, the patient left without even turning to thank the
       doctor for the warning.
He went back to the inn and asked for some food. While eating he
listened to what the clients were saying.
"... It is said that a relic have been found in Kounat..."
"... I went to her house and dude it was..."
       "ONE MORE! HIC!"
"...scary isn't it? It is said that guy is eight feets tall,
whenever he swings his enormous axe, five people are killed on
       the spot!"
"The Heartless huh? The slum isn't safe right now between the
       Syndicate and that monster."
"SHHHHH! Don't say that loudly, you'll bring misfortune on us!"
Finishing his meal, the client went back to his room to rest for
       a while.
When he woke up, the moon was full. It was time for Rayerth to
       act.

Ariel look outside. The full moon, so beautiful. How it shines
through out the night.. Like a deity watching over us. She rest
her elbows on the rail of the balcony and rest her chin in her
hands while gazing at the moon.
       "Princess Ariel?"
"Kayla I thought I told you to just call me Ariel."
       "Of course Princess."
Ariel's maid does that to annoy her princess. She thinks it's
funny because everyone else calls her princess but she hates it
when her maid address her so.
       -sigh-
       "Is something wrong?"
       "No.. It's just... I don't know."
"Would you like me to play you some music? Or shall I fetch you
something to eat? Some wine perhaps?"
"No I think a nice walk will do me fine."
She walk back inside my room and slip on some comfortable heels.
"Princess, I hope you don't intend on going out for a walk in
your nightgown. You'll catch death walking outside like that."
Ariel blushes, she forgot that she was still wearing her
nightgown. But she really didn't want to change, the dresses she
wore took ages to put on.
       "Here, put this on."
The maid conjured out a night robe and comfortable clothes and
helped Ariel put them on. She leave my room and make her way to
the castle's garden. A guard on patrol passes by and gives Ariel
a slight nod. But before she reached the gate something
happened. She suddenly stopped walking and stared into space. A
feeling of some sort, a feeling inside of her is pulling her
       towards the city.
       "Ariel, is something wrong?"
"I..I don't know.. I feel like something is pulling me. It wants
       me to go to town."
"Is this a ominous sign m'lady?"
She become lost in thought, what could this mean? It wasn't a
dangerous feeling like she has ever felt before. It felt
similar...to danger but at the same time it wasn't at all. What
is going on? She has never experienced this before, curiosity
       sparked within her.
"I don't know, this is a new sort of feeling...May we explore
       the town?"
       "As you wish Princess."
They walk back where we came from. Then changed direction to the
exit. A guard confronts the princess in the hallway.
       "Princess what are you doing?"
"I wish to go outside for a walk."
The guard shakes his head. He doesn't like princess at all but
her safety was his concern for her father, the king would punish
       him.
"It is ok, Kayla is accompanying me."
       "Good Evening Sir."
       The guard changes his mind:
       "Ok then, be careful princess."
As they walk away the sound of footsteps could be heard. The
guard was walking away from his post. He was only eager to end
his shift early. They soon approached the castle gates but Kayla
stops the princess for a brief moment.
"Princess are you sure of this? The people still fear you. And
fear does not make them think straight. "
"It's ok. Your here with me."
"You put too much faith me in your highness."
"You defeated the captain of my father's royal guard. I'm sure
       you can handle anything else."
With that she bravely walks into the town of Kanavan, confident
that her maid will protect her from all harm.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
The slum was a pretty tight composition of building in poor
condition, from the window it was easy for Rayerth to jump to
the roof of another building and then move from roof to roof.
He was moving according to the few lights or sound he could hear
or see; most of them were drunkards or prostitutes though. The
slum has never been a secured place but lately a group called
the Syndicate has been acting and kidnapping people to sell them
as slave so most people wouldn’t go out when the sun sets.
For the Syndicate, the slum was the perfect hunting area since
nobility wouldn’t send knights in this place.
Still, Rayerth had doubts, who could have enough power to create
such a powerful organization in a few months only. As he’s
wandering in the slum, he finally found what he was looking for.
He heard some repressed noise from not that far away. Four men
holding two kids, the children were trying hard to struggle but
       they were obviously too weak.
“Damn kids just stop it already!”
“Shh! We’ll wake up those peasants!”
       “Such a fucking job…”
“It’s well paid so who cares?”
I do. This is what Rayerth was thinking but he continued
observing the situation, by following them it might be possible
to find their hideout. He quietly followed them as they were
moving in the slum till one of the kids bit a kidnapper.
“OUCH! Brats I’m gonna kill you!”
       “Hey stop it!”
“It’s okay as long as we got the other one we’ll still be paid!”
The hoodlum threw the kid against a wall and took a mace getting
ready to crush the kid. Rayerth drew his sword and jumped from
the small building he was on and slashed the kidnapper on the
shoulder failing to kill him on the first strike. The others
quickly draw their weapon surrounding Rayerth. They were very
well organized even though they were some flaws in their
formation. Their strategy was to let one attack while the other
were making to leave no room for counter attack or escape but
the lack of coordination allowed Rayerth to avoid the most
dangerous blow even though he got hit twice on the torso opening
       wounds from previous fight.
“I don’t know who you are but I’ll make you pay the price for
       trying to be a hero!”
Closing his eyes, Rayerth sheathed his sword and started
       gathering mana?
“So you’re giving up huh? I’ll make sure that you will have a
       painless death!”
They were laughing and when they were to give the presumed final
blow, Rayerth opened his eyes now shining and punched the man in
front of him. Upon impact an explosion of mana occurred sending
the opponent crashing against a wall.
Using the momentum, he summoned dark energy on his right hand,
which he used to grab another kidnapper. Releasing the dark
energy made an explosion killing the man on the spot.
The two other tried to attack him from two different sides but
Rayerth didn’t try to avoid their attack, he parried the first
one and let the second one stab him on the shoulder. He stabbed
one of them in return. Kicking the second one to the ground.
To this man Rayerth looked like a red-eyed demon, throwing away
his cockiness he started begging for his life, as Rayerth was
       getting closer.
“Please spare me! I won’t do that again. I have a family!
       PLEASE!
The man was crawling back until his back touched a wall. He
couldn’t escape anymore. Letting go of the sheathe on his left
hand, Rayerth put his hand on the man’s mouth and raised him
then he got close to the man ear and whispered coldly.”
“The people you kidnapped, they had a family too yet you still
took them away when they were begging you.”
He then stabbed him and let the body fall on the ground. Looking
around, the kids were nowhere to be seen, they must have escaped
during the fight. Leaving the scene, Rayerth decided to go back
to the inn disappointed, he couldn't find any hint about the
       Syndicate.

"If can't understand what i'm saying why are you still here?"
Said Rex as he looked at a light blue crystal that seemed to
have a little symbol engraved on the inside of it, or so it
seemed anyways. The man stood there slightly annoyed with Rex's
attitude, he turned away facing his back towards him.
"Not everyone is going to know what the hell you're speaking
about. So try to be more understanding on that part."
"It's a good thing you're in a library then, so do some research
and try telling me something I don't know."
He moved his hair out of his face and continued examined a
crystal he found on his way to the library of magic. He let out
a deep sigh and threw it behind him hitting the man in the back
       and he quietly mumbled.
       "Useless stone."
The man flinched at the feeling of being hit in the back by the
stone and turned around to see it tumbling along the floor, soon
to either be picked up by someone else or kicked around by some
       kid.
"Don't litter in the library sir, you don't own this place."
Rex turned in his chair to look at the man, his eyes glowed a
vivid purple and the crystal levitates off the floor and
shatters disappearing into dust. He got up from his char picked
up his bag and the blade that is wrapped in a dark grey cloth as
       his eyes returned to normal.
"Now if you don't mind I will take my studies else where, have a
       good evening."
He nodded and started for the exit of the library planning on
       returning to the inn.

"Ariel. I really think we should head back to the castle"
"?? Why? I want to explore a little."
"You seen this many times before."
"But I want to see what has changed Kayla."
"I'm sure nothing has changed Ariel."
       "I still want to see.."
       "As you wish princess."
       "Stop calling me that."
       "Of course princess."
       "Hmph."
       "Hehehe."
Ariel and Kayla explored the streets of Kanavan. After exploring
a good part of the town Ariel's stomach growled.
"I knew it. You weren't eating enough at dinner."
       "..."
"Cmon, let's go to a Inn and get something to eat."
"We're not going back to the castle?"
"Do you want to go back?"
       "Not yet."
       "That's what I thought."
Ariel and Kayla found a Inn and went inside. Ariel found a table
at the end of the Inn and sat there while Kayla ordered some
food for the both of them.
"I assume you wanted something light but sweet?"
"Yes. I can't wait to taste the food."
"The princess has taste for the commonfolk's food hmmmm?"
"Shhhh. Don't say that here. And yes if you must know. I enjoy
it very much. So, how long until our food is ready?
       "About 15 minutes."

Walking under the moonlight, Rayerth was making sure that no one
was following him. He was walking carefully abut the wound on
       his shoulder.
Even though it was hard to tell on his face, he was really
angry; angry at himself, because he went wild, he killed those
three guys before getting any information from them.
But at that time, he felt his blood boiling beside he couldn't
       let that kid die.
To regain his usual calm, he tried recalling his master's
teaching but in fact, it made it worse.
When he finally arrived in front of the inn, he saw two people
enter which was quite surprising regarding the time. Beside, one
of them was a maid... it was clearly suspicious... Seeing them
enter, he jumped to his room's window on the second floor and
       entered.
After quickly tending his wound carelessly, Rayerth hurried to
the stairs and started observed the two person. It was rare to
see a maid, but a girl with white hair was even more unusual.
Rayerth went to sit in a table a few meters behind them and
turning his back on them. Ordering some snack and alcohol, he
tried to listen to their conversation hoping to find some
       relevant information for his investigation.

After waiting the estimated time a meal was brought by a servant
boy. He took one glance at Ariel and he started shaking. Kayla
paid the boy and sent him back. Kayla talks in a hush tone as if
       mocking Ariel.
"It seems you still scare people here."
"It's not like I do it on purpose.."
"Hehe I know, I'm just teasing."
"Still it doesn't seem like anyone else is bothering us."
"That's because they fear you. I think that little servant boy
thought he was going to die."
       "Stop that.. It's not funny."
       "Ok ok."
They eat in silence for a moment. Ariel was in the middle of
chewing her food when a question poped into her head. She
       finished chewing and asked:
"Why did that boy think he was going to die?"
"Because of what the everyone calls you?"
"But...why? I haven't done anything. All I do is hide."
"Oh I don't know. I think it's because of the Syndicate.
       "Hmm??"
"They kidnap people and sell them."
"Oh. Is that what the boy had in mind?"
"Possibly. With your reputation I don't think it was far from
       his mind."
"Hehe, yes, I'm the all mighty mastermind of Syndicate. Bow
       before me.
       "Yes master."
Kayla makes her voice quiver and Ariel starts laughing
       menacingly.
"Don't worry child, you'll be in good hands..."
       "But.. My family."
       "Shut up slave."
       "Ok.."
"Now eat your meal and let us leave."
       "..."
Ariel and Kayla finished eating in silence. Then suddenly Kayla
       starts giggling.

"Hehe, ok let's go back home."
"Your father should really do something about Syndicate."
"Ya, I'll talk to him about it."
Ariel and Kayla get up and walk out the Inn into the night.

       Rex sighed
"Why must todays society know nothing?"
He quietly mumbled to himself as he made his way to the inn, he
saw a lady with white hair and a maid walking out of the
inn....unusual, but still nothing much of interest to him.
       "Good Evening."
He said and lightly nodded being polite, he did notice a little
something different about the lady but he didn't approach he
continued his way into the inn. He went to the lady at the front
desk to retrieve his key to his room.
"Good Evening madame, I'm here to collect the key to my room."
"Yes, look into the scanner to verify that you have a room
       here."
Rex nodded and removed his glasses to let the scanner do its
thing, soon a keycard popped out at the bottom to let Rex into
       his room.
       "Thank you."
       "Enjoy your evening."
The lady said in a cheerful tone, he headed up to the second
floor. Room 24B was his assigned room, he wandered down the hall
till he found his room. He slid the cardkey into the slot and
the door unlocks, he opens the door and walks in making sure
that his blade doesn't hit the door.
"I guess I can look more into this sword while i'm here."
Rex waslk over to the dinner table and placed the wrapped up
blad on it unwraveling it spreading the cloth over the table.
The blade emitted its usual light blue glow from the still
unknown crystal, it looked as if it has been unused but almost
every spell Rex knows has been casted at it and nothing seemed
to damage it. He sat there staring at the sword, it started to
levitate glowing more vividly, the energy coming from the blade
is rather easy to notice cause it isn't a normal energy to be
sensed around here. Rex sighed cause he can't find out how to
get any further than that and he doesn't know what it means, he
took hold of the blade and gave it a good horizontal swing and
       grumbled looking at the blade.
"What am I to do to learn more about you?"
He sighed and walked to the couch and sat down still holding the
sword resting it on his lap, it was still releasing that energy
and glow it had a nice feel to it only cause Rex has gotten used
to it, it would usually send a numbing sensation through your
entire arm. He focused on the blade reading its magical
signature, nothing has changed of it, it's still the same as the
day he found it, he felt as if he was getting no where with his
       research.
"I don't think anyone in this land would be able to help me
       further my studies on you..."
He moved the blade off his lap and onto the couch where it lost
its glow, he got up and made his way to the door taking his
cardkey with him leaving the blade on the couch. He walked down
the hall and down to the first floor where he made his way to
       the dining area.

Ariel gives the man a slight nod of the head. Kayla returns the
greeting but the man already went inside the Inn.
"Hmmm? I guess he's new in town."
       "I suppose so."
       "Hmmmm."
       "Kayla?"
       "Yes?"
"Could you go tell father and ask him about Syndicate?"
"I thought you were going to ask him."
"Well.. I don't want him to know I went into town.."
       "I understand."
       "...Could you go right now?"
       "And leave you here alone?"
"It's ok.. no one will come after me. They'll think they die
within a hour or something." Ariel blushes.
Kayla giggles:"I suppose so. Ok then. I'll come back after I
       explained everything to your father."
Kayla goes to a nearby alley and teleports herself to the
       castle.
"Wish I could teleport myself like that...-sigh-"
Ariel starts wondering around a little and notices a cat flying
through the air. It lands on it's four feet and starts running
away hissing. Two men came out from the shadows laughing.
"Hahahaha, did you see that cat fly?"
"Ya, I kicked it pretty hard. I hope it gets a bruised rib or
something. That little thing annoyed the hell out of me."
"I told you not to eat fish tonight."
"Ya, whatever. You can't say that shit tasted good though."
       "Hahaha."
Ariel frowns at the two men and walk past them.
       "-who to sell toni--."
Ariel stopped at the man's words. Even though she only caught a
few words she knew who the men where.
       "Syndicate..."
Ariel needed to tell someone, but she sent Kayla to the castle
       already to tell her father.
"I should go.. Wait no. This is good. Kayla is telling father
about Syndicate. And here are two men that are from Syndicate
itself. If I can catch these two men I can turn them in. Or
Kayla can do that if she returns fast enough."
Ariel decides to follow the men to see where they go. As they
were walking they suddenly turn a corner. Ariel quickly runs and
see them turn another corner, and another. Irritated Ariel
wonders if she should just give up. But just as she turns a
corner into a alleyway something covers her mouth and grabs her
       loose rear strangle.
"My, my? What's this little girl doing out here?" the men said
       in unison.
       "?!?!"
Darnit! I been tricked. They knew I was following them.
One of the men lifts her chin and observes her.
"She's pretty, she'll go for a good price."
Grrr... They better let me go!
"Cmon little girl what's your name?"
The man holding her in a bear hug takes his hand off her mouth.
       Big mistake.
"LET GO OF ME YOU FILTHY MEN!"
Her screams echoing off the walls of the alleyway. The men in
front of her punch Ariel in the stomach.
       "Fucking bitch."
       Ariel is grasping for air.
"Do that again and next time it'll be your pretty face and I
really do not want that to happen."
Ariel started breathing regularly and tried to cast the bind
spell but a hand came over her mouth.
       "BBBBMMINFSIFEKH"
       "Ya ya, shut up."

Since he was a bit far away, Rayerth couldn't exactly hear what
they were saying but he definitely heard one word... Syndicate.
Someone else entered but he paid it no attention, he probably
found a clue for his investigation.
Eventually when they left, Rayerth waited a little bit and
dropping some coins on the table, stood up.
I should follow them is what he was thinking.
When he catched up to them, the maid wasn't here anymore, only
       the white haired girl remained.
“What happened to the maid? Is she hiding? But it's only a
       maid...”
Doubtful, Rayerth carefully followed the girl until a... cat
came flying... two man appeared, it seemed that they didn't
notice the girl as they walked but for some reason, that girl
       started following them.
Is she an idiot? Following people on a whim, unless...
Arriving at the corner of a street the girl was dragged by some
hands probably one of the two man.
"LET GO OF ME YOU FILTHY MEN!"
Picking a piece of fabric that was hanging near a window above
him to dry, Rayerth rushed to the corner covering himsel with
the tissue and thus hiding his face. The girl had her mouth
covered bu one of the two men's hand.
“Huh? Who're you? Get to fuck of if you don't wanna die.”
“I'm just someone who hate animal mistreatment...”
“Are you an idiot? Who give a shit about some damn cat?”
       “... Speak... who's your master?”
Rayerth summoned mana on his right hand which slowly turned into
a spiky crystal made of ice which made one of the man laugh as
he took a pendant in his pocket.
“A mage... don't make me laugh. This charm will protect me from
whatever you throw at me! Ahahahahahah!”
From a sharp move of his right arm, the icy crystal became a
       thin curved sword.
       “Answer or die...”
