The House passed a bill along party lines on Thursday to alter
the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) role in overseeing

within its Superfund cleanup program and would allow states to
add potential cleanup sites to the list. It also would allow the
EPA to review and revise waste disposal regulations and would
eliminate the federal government’s claims to sovereign immunity
from state enforcement actions over Superfund cleanups of sites
       on federal property.
