I am terribly naughty to be starting on another, but I can't get
all the egyptian stuff out of my head and my other stories will
have to hang on the line for a while until ideas for this are
released and completed. I hope you don't mind :] I have two
banners, one of the title and one of my characters :D

[glow=gold,2,300]Divine Goddess, Goddess Divine,
Divine God, God Divine,
If evil dwells within this place,
Please make it leave my space.[/glow]
A subtle yet arousing Spanish guitar beat invaded my ears as I
made my way down the pure gold steps of The Electrum. Across the
room, sitting quietly at the bar on the other side of the wine
fountain, was my ex husband Rick. Beside him sat my brother
Jonathan and a man I could barely remember from our last visit
to Hamunaptra. By no means was I up to talking with the man who
ruined my life, but I just had to have a word with my beloved
brother about the whereabouts of the Book Of Amun Ra.
Rick had never been game for adventure or uncovering ancient
secrets that had been buried centuries ago with their masters.
Jonathan on the other hand was a lot more open to discovering
potential royalty and the gifts that came with it, as he would
call them. I often shook my head in disbelief at his childish
ways and pondered why I bother to bring him along on these
journeys. Thinking about it, I began to wonder why I brought
Rick along this time as well. Even if he was a lot tougher and
more prone to winning fights than my dear brother, I just didn’t
think we would get along very well anymore. Of course, we
remained friends after filing for a divorce only a few months
into our marriage, but from the beginning it was clear it would
not last anyway. I can’t say that I miss him and I dare say he
has been thinking the exact same thing since we went our own
separate ways. It was for the best.
“My sweet baby sister, come to grace us with her presence at
last” Jonathan boasted.
“Actually dear brother, if I may, I must speak with you, alone”
I spoke, approaching the bar where the three of them sat.
Jonathan drunkenly rose from his stool after placing his glass
down, spilling his wine everywhere and earning a few growls from
Rick. I steadied him with my arm around his waist and stumbled
across the room with him. I was starting to doubt him being able
to take anything in, what with all his brains turned to mush
from the alcohol he had been devouring all evening.
“Jonathan, are you sober enough to give me the location of a
very important book?” I asked.
He seemed to wobble a little in his seat as he tried hard to
focus on what I was saying to him. I pouted at the drunken mess
before me but continued on with what I had to say. Jonathan
focused a little harder with every word that escaped my lips and
before I knew it, he had passed out against the table between us
both. Absolute frustration coursed through my veins at the only
person I could really talk to being too damn drunk and
disorderly to help me out with my interests.
“Rick, get your ass over here and take this fruitless mess up to
his room” I shouted across the room.
Surprisingly, he ran straight over and heaved Jonathan up onto
his shoulders before making his way up the gold steps and out of
view. I had to laugh lightly at the situation and shook off the
thought of telling Jonathan off tomorrow morning. By all
accounts, after the day we had today, he had every right to shut
it from his mind, if only for a few hours rest. With my head
hanging low, I gripped my ankh necklace tightly in one hand and
spoke a silent prayer. Hopeful that my brother would be of good
health again by sunrise, I stood from the table and walked over
to the bar. If my brother and everyone else involved were having
a drink, I found no reason why I shouldn’t be allowed too.
“I’ll have a slow comfortable screw please” I said, carelessly
as though it was nothing.
The man behind the bar simply stared at me with wide eyes, but
went about mixing my drink as though nothing out of the ordinary
had happened. I was confused. Then, I remembered just where I
was and how incredibly unpopular that kind of cocktail must be
here. My cheeks flushed a deep shade of violet and I tried with
difficulty to shield my face from the man whom was sitting not
far from me, grinning from ear to ear.
“In all my years as a Medjai, I have never heard of that drink
before” he spoke, amused.
I turned my body a little so that I was facing him and eyed him
whilst he sipped from his own glass. It seemed to be the same
glass of wine that my brother and Rick had been drinking before
they left. I had not wanted to have anything too strong; unlike
these men who insisted on drinking themselves half to death
before the sun came up.
“I am terribly sorry but, I seem to have forgotten your name” I
said quietly.
“Ardeth Bay my dear, you attracted my attention and welcomed my
help on your last visit” he told me.
“Ah yes, I remember you now. You tried to kill me with that
ridiculous sword of yours” I said, a little too loudly.
I managed to garner the attention of half the people around us
with my statement and ended up regretting it when fury built in
his eyes. Turning myself around so I was facing the barman
again, I took a few sips of my drink and fluffed up my hair a
little. The same melody as before entered my ears and soon
enough, I was up from my seat and walking toward and open space
in the middle of the room. I raised the lower half of my dress
ever so slowly with one hand, sliding it up my thigh as I did
so, trying to make everyone forget about my comments over their
protective Medjai warrior. My efforts worked wonders as the men
looked my way and watched with anticipation as I gripped
handfuls of my dress in both hands, lifted it off the ground a
little exposing my feet and began to dance in slow circles to
the beautiful sound of the Spanish guitar.
When my eyes scanned the room and ended up back at the bar, I
noticed Ardeth was no longer there. I frowned in annoyance. It
had been ideal to attract his attention as well as some form of
apology, but it seemed he was far from interested in me. It did
not hurt however, he was not the kind of man I could see myself
spending a lifetime with; what with his unpredictable ways.
The music came to a halt and I bowed, smiling kindly at the men
surrounding me and clapping at my skilful dancing. I thanked
them and went on my way, back up the gold steps and headed on to
the library which was not far from our hotel. Clinging to my
dress to keep it from swaying on the dirty ground, I walked
quietly into the library and went in search of information. If
Jonathan was too drunk to help me find what I most desired, I
would just have to find it myself.
My hand reached out and grabbed a book I knew all too well from
my last visit. It was ‘A History Of Ancient Egypt’ and it gave
clues, if not complete directions and guidance toward what it is
you wish to find. I had only been given the chance to flick
through a few pages the last time I was here, having been called
out by Rick and my brother to fight off a few risen mummies from
the depths of the sand beneath our feet. It had been quite an
adventure, one that I would consider all over again, without the
mummies and ancient curses trying desperately to kill us of
course.
As my finger skimmed through the pages under the scribe section,
a voice interrupted my concentration and I dropped the book.
Spinning around to see Ardeth standing a little too close behind
me gave me the fright of my life. Had I not known any better, I
would have screamed and punched him, but I knew of his weapons
and strength.
“You should not be in here at such a late hour, Evie” he said,
stepping closer.
He grabbed the book off the floor and quickly looked at the page
it had landed on. Another frown appeared on his face and I
panicked immediately. Surely he knew what I had come back to
Hamunaptra for. If he did not, I questioned why he was helping
my brother and ex husband.
“I would think I have every right to be in here looking through
books, it is a public library and is always open in Egypt,
unlike back home. And please, do not call me Evie, you have no
right. It is Evelyn or nothing at all” I said angrily.
I snatched the book out of his hands and turned my back on him,
making my way out of the library and his company, which I did
not want at all right now. Just as I placed one foot outside the
library doors, his hand grabbed my arm and pulled me back. Now I
was simply furious and raised one of my hands to slap him hard
across his face, but he didn’t give me a chance. He gripped that
hand so tightly in his own that it caused me to drop the book
that the other was holding. His eyes burned a chocolate brown
that looked almost black under such poor lights. I was captured,
unfortunately. Ardeth seemed to notice my lack of struggling and
released my hand from his nasty grip. I instantly pulled away
from him as my eyes began to water at the pain building in my
fingers and raced off out of the library and back to my hotel,
without the book I had wanted so badly to borrow.
“Evie, is that you darling?” called my brother from somewhere in
the hotel room as I entered.
“Yes, Jonathan” I replied, collapsing on my perfectly made bed.
Jonathan walked into my room looking a whole lot better than he
had looked before and I was thankful. I did wonder where Rick
was, but I also did not care much. My bet was that he’d found
his old pal Beni on his travels and gone out shooting some
innocent cans of beer. Typical man he was, and yet I had managed
to find him attractive at one point. I didn’t know what I was
thinking, obviously. As Jonathan took a seat beside my worn out
body on the bed, he patted my hair down gently and asked what
was wrong. I didn’t want to tell him and cause a fuss, but
knowing Jonathan he would try to hunt down the reason behind my
miserable mood and attempt to disembody it. I couldn’t stand the
thought of my only brother being injured or murdered trying to
protect me, so I lied.

I'm so glad you are liking this so far! and glad you like Evie's
dress. I have had my eye on that dress for a while but I have
absolutely no idea where to find one quite like it haha. I have
always disliked Rick for some reason, not a bad guy or anything,
he just isn't all that handsome. I just love Ardeth though :D
---------------------------------------------------------
“There is nothing truly the matter with me dear brother, I am
simply tired after a trying day” I said.
Jonathan believed my little lie and I grinned happily as he left
the room, closing the double doors behind him and bidding me
goodnight. I returned his wishful thinking and reminded him that
we had a big day ahead of us tomorrow, so he had better get some
more rest. He nodded, smile and locked the door from the
outside. I would have gotten up and started hammering on the
door to get out had I note felt so utterly drained from the
little drink I had at the bar. I was surprised it had knocked me
out so much; drinks without a great amount of alcohol never
seemed to do that.
I turned my head toward the desk beside the bed and spotted a
book. I knew I had not placed it there and became concerned.
Surely no one had entered my room while I was out wandering the
streets and buildings of Hamunaptra. Puzzled, I rose from my
laying position and grabbed the book off the desk, glancing at
its cover. I beamed and almost released a squeak of excitement,
but didn’t wish to disturb Jonathan and have him panic all over
again.
It was the book I had tried to read in the library, before
Ardeth took it from me. I frowned at the thought, but opened it
to the page I had been reading anyway. My finger ran below each
line as I read out loud the exact location of the book I wished
to find. I knew all the details of course, but had absolutely no
idea where our ancient friends had hidden it. The Book Of Amun
Ra was made of nothing but pure gold, dazzling the world over
with it’s elegance and was said to contain spells and
incantations that would take life away from those who were
living. It would come in handy during our stay here, as much as
it would be a treasure to keep and return home with. I wondered
if the Medjai would even allow such a thing, that book being one
of the very reason they guarded this city. I didn’t care in the
slightest and believed they would do just fine without such a
book. They had their swords, stamina and feisty ways to protect
them from all kinds of dangers heading their way. But, what if
they could not defeat those who were undead, just like last
time. What if, they perished at the hands of such creatures and
could not prevent our world from being taken over by undead
mummies.
The thoughts running through my head at such a speed terrified
me and I slammed the book shut. I pondered for a while on
whether or not I should go after the book I wanted, and soon
decided my collections were more important than any Medjai,
especially after one of them just scared me so.
I fell deep into slumber not long after I had made up my mind.
Having had no time to get under the bed covers, I shivered
horribly feeling a rush of air against my skin. I woke with a
start and found the window wide open; the curtains blowing right
up to the ceiling. Panic and fear rose in my body as I looked
around the room for any intruders, only to find no one here.
Looking to my left at the desk, I found the book was gone, along
with my memory of where to find the Book Of Amun Ra. Angrily, I
checked my attire and hurried over to my wardrobe to find
something a little more suitable.
After finding a gorgeous lime coloured harem outfit, I slipped
into the top and skirt before grabbing a dagger and burying it
in the side of my skirt out of view. I was ready to go and hunt
down whomever had invaded my room and taken the book from me,
with or without help. I was nothing short of afraid as I walked
through the silent streets of Hamunaptra, jumping at every sound
I heard along the way. In the back of my mind I knew I was being
watched, but my eyes could not point anyone out and so I ignored
the feeling. The library was just ahead of me now. A shadow
slipped by the doors and straight inside as I watched, shaking
like a leaf. It could be anyone or anything, and here I am alone
with nothing but a small dagger to protect myself with. I
inwardly scolded my stupidity and realised next time I would
have to either wake Jonathan, find Rick or borrow a gun from one
of them while they were sleeping. I loathed such weapons, but
they were far easier to shun evil with.
I gulped back a fistful of terror and made my way quietly into
the library’s entrance. The shadow had vanished and I saw
nothing as I walked down the narrow hallway toward the book
section. Across from me was the curators office. My legs moved
themselves and soon I found myself opening the door to that
room, curious as to what was inside. All thoughts of there being
something dangerous in here had escaped my mind as I poked my
head around the door. I bit back a scream at the sight before
me. I could not believe what I was seeing. Imhotep, the one
mummy whom everyone feared would once again return from the
dead, was standing over the lifeless body of Ardeth. The curator
was struggling to climb down from a high window to make his way
outside safely, away from the creature. And here I thought I was
a cowardly, good for nothing, useless woman. He was more of a
woman than I was at the moment. Anger boiled through my veins
and my eyes, stained with tears, eyed Imhotep with such a
destructive stare, he backed off immediately. He spun into a
dust devil and vanished before I could even do anything to stop
him. Regaining control over my body and allowing the tears to
fall like a fountain from my eyes, I rushed over to Ardeth’s
body and noticed he had been stabbed. Laying my hand over the
wound, I sensed it was incredibly deep. I did not wish to move
him for fear of hurting him more, but realised again that he was
actually dead. A shrill scream poured from the bottom of my
heart as I clung to his dead body, hoping by some miracle he
would return.
“Evie…” someone said from the doorway.
I turned my head around to see Jonathan standing there, Rick
behind him. They both looked worse for wear and I assumed they
had just woken up. Jonathan donned an apologetic look and felt
sorry for our dear friend Ardeth, as did Rick. Only, Rick seemed
a little ticked off that I cared so much. It annoyed me, seeing
as we were no longer together. Not to mention I had no feelings
for Ardeth whatsoever, it was just very unpleasant to see
someone you know dead.
“Jonathan, where is the Book Of Amun Ra?” I spoke through my
tears, wiping them away.
“Evie, I don’t think that will do any good” he replied.
“It’s for Imhotep, not Ardeth. In order to save Ardeth we must
first kill Imhotep, then find the Book Of The Dead” I said,
angrily through gritted teeth.
Pushing past both Jonathan and Rick, I ran off in search of the
only book I knew would help save Ardeth before it was too late.
Tears sprung from my eyes again as I ran and I didn’t know why.
He had hurt me twice now, and one of those times he had been
trying to kill me. I couldn’t work out why I cared so much that
he had died. Shaking my head of its stupid thoughts and the
conversation I seemed to be having with myself, I ran into the
enemies quarters. Beni and the boys where no one to be seen, so
I did a little snooping. I knew that they had the book, it had
been in their possession since their leader was killed on our
last trip.
“Just what do you think you are doing in here?” called a voice
from behind me.
I spun on my heel and came face to face with Beni. I hated him
so much, but I was desperate so had no choice but to
communicate. Even if it meant harming him to get an answer. I
wouldn’t think twice about doing such a thing, seeing as he had
left my ex husband to fend for himself all those years ago. I
might dislike my ex husband, but I still have a heart and could
never let that go.
“Where is the Book Of The Dead, Beni?” I asked him as he circled
me.
“What makes you think I would tell you where it is, Evelyn” he
replied, cornering me.
“Please Beni, it’s needed” I said, getting ready to pull the
dagger from my skirt.
Beni watched my hand getting lower, tucking itself into the side
of my skirt. An evil smirk played on his lips and he must have
had the wrong idea. Before I could stop him, he pinned me
against the wall and gripped one of my legs with his hand,
raising it to his waist. I growled and battered my hands hard
against his chest, trying to get him to let me down, but he
wouldn’t budge. He moved his mouth closer to mine and I turned
my head to one side. His tongue traced a circle on the side of
my neck and I gasped, trying harder to get him away from me. My
screams didn’t seem to attract attention from anyone either as
he started to nibble on my neck a little too roughly.
“Get your filthy hands off my sister you spineless weasel!”
Jonathan shouted as he barged into the room with Rick hot on his
heels.
The fear on Beni’s face amused me as he let me go and backed off
quickly towards another door in the room. Unfortunately for him,
Rick caught him by knocking him down with a chair, which had to
hurt by the look and sound of it. I was far too happy that they
came to rescue me to even care that Rick was now holding Beni’s
nose dangerously close to the ceiling fan. I had rushed over to
Jonathan and hid behind him when Rick took his anger out on his
old buddy Beni.
I led Jonathan out of the room and asked him to help me search
for the book. He did so without question and soon, we were
making a right old mess without even worrying about clearing it
up. Just a few moments later, I found the book and jumped up
into the air, holding it tightly in my hands. Jonathan stood
there grinning like an idiot at my antics and clapped heartily
at my discovery. I bowed and played along before finding room on
a table to read through the appropriate incantations. We did not
have too long before it would become impossible to save Ardeth,
so I had to hurry. The sound of Beni being beaten up by Rick was
awfully distracting, so I asked Jonathan to calm him down while
I got to work on finding the ideal spell. Again, he went without
question.

I'm updating with the last of this story now :] I'm actually
quite happy with this one. I have another lined up which is also
based around Ardeth and I hope you don't mind. I'm going through
yet another phase it seems haha. I've been seeing a hell of a
lot of my fiance in Ardeth lately and can't keep my eyes off
him, or my mind off him.. haha.
---------------------------------------------------------
As I skipped through page after page, sadness built in my heart
at the thought of losing someone like Ardeth. He was too
important to his people and the people of this city to perish
just like that; I had to do something to help him. Then, I came
across a spell for resurrecting those who have passed. I smiled
from ear to ear and repeated the words over and over to myself,
trying to pronounce it correctly otherwise it would never work.
After what felt like a lifetime, my pronunciation of each word
was spot on and I rushed out of the room with the book wide open
in my arms. Along the way, I passed Jonathan trying to pry Rick
off of poor Beni, but he did deserve what was coming to him.
They noticed me running by and let Beni go after giving him a
stern warning never to come near me again. By this time, I had
already reached the library and burst through the office door.
Ardeth lay very still where we had left him earlier and looked
even paler than before. A lump grew in my throat at the sight
and I hurriedly ran over to his side, dropping to my knees. I
clung to his body one last time and prayed silently that this
would work, otherwise we would all be in serious trouble; and
the city would be without their protector.
I was unaware of my position when the boys ran into the room to
join me. I’d somehow managed to straddle Ardeth as I lay the
book on his chest and ran my finger under each line, making sure
I had it right. The words seeped through my lips like the sun
shone through the clouds on a summers day. Over and over I
chanted the words to the spell, hopeful that it would bring him
back.
I had become oblivious to all around me as I closed my eyes and
continued. Not even the sound of my brothers voice broke me free
of my concentration, nor the sound of Rick telling me to get the
hell off Ardeth. I didn’t care. All I wanted was to do something
right for a change, and this was going to work if they wanted it
to or not.
[glow=red,2,300]Hic en spiritum

“Evie! you can’t think that will work, it’s been almost fifteen
minutes now” called Jonathan.
I only shushed him with an evil glare and went back to chanting
the spell. I grew louder and louder when I realised it wasn’t
going to work and the boys left me alone. Once they had walked
out to find something to occupy themselves with, my heart sank
deep in my chest. I picked up the book and angrily tossed it
across the room; it didn’t even shatter into a million pieces. I
felt absolutely sick to my stomach. The one thing that was
supposed to have any purpose at all failed to do its job. This
would be my last trip to Hamunaptra. I just couldn’t face losing
anyone else, knowing there was nothing I could do to bring them
back from the dead.
Whilst I was busy sobbing like a child into my hands, I hadn’t
noticed movement beneath me. I had felt it of course, but
thought nothing of it. My cries calmed after a little while and
I wiped at my eyes trying to rid them of every last drop they
had spilt.
“Evelyn..” someone called.
I snapped my head toward the door and noticed there was no one
standing there. To say I was confused was an understatement,
until a hand brushed across my cheek. Startled, my eyes met his
the moment I looked down at the body still between my legs. I
blushed incredibly hard and apologised, laying my hands on
either side of his head to heave myself up off him. He didn’t
let that happen.
Ardeth lay one of his hands on my neck and his other on the
small of my back, pulling me right down until my lips crashed
against his. I gasped in surprise, having not expected him to do
that, but he didn’t loosen his grip or let me move away.
“Ardeth!” I managed to shout, confused but happy at the same
time.
“Why?” he spoke, barely above a whisper.
I removed his hand from my back and took his other in my own as
I told him why I brought him back from the dead. He seemed to
smile a little every now and then with my confessions about his
people and his city, but knew there was something hidden behind
every word I spoke. I as starting to believe it myself the more
I spoke with him about it; how I had been so heartbroken when I
found him laying there lifeless. It was not the Ardeth I knew.
It should not have happened to such a man.
“So” he spoke, sitting up and watching me lean back away from
his face as he did “aside from my people and being the protector
of this city, why else did you bring me back?” he finished.
“Well, I..” I said, trying to find the right words as a blush
appeared on my cheeks again.
Ardeth tried to hide a grin but it didn’t go unnoticed. I
growled in response to his question instead and pulled myself up
off of him and the floor. I walked over to the book and picked
it up, closing it and telling him that I had to return it to a
few friends of mine. He bowed his head, but stood so quickly it
made me dizzy. I turned my back on him as he stood staring at
me, afraid to face the man I was beginning to fall for.
“Evelyn..” he whispered into my ear, now standing close behind
me.
His hands moved gently up and down my arms as I clung to the
book, holding it tightly against my chest. My legs felt ever so
weak, but I couldn’t work out whether it was him or all the
stress I’d been through this evening. He seemed to take note of
my weak body and wrapped a supportive arm around my waist. I
instinctively leaned back against his chest and relaxed, unaware
that my brother was standing in the doorway watching everything.
“Jonathan!” I half yelled when I spotted him there, moving away
from Ardeth with lightning speed.
The expression on Ardeth’s face returned to one of seriousness,
the look I had always been used to. He glanced at me out of the
corner of his eye and Jonathan cleared his throat.
“Evie, darling, I think we need to talk” he said, leaving the
room again.
“She has done nothing wrong. Should you not be congratulating
your baby sister on such a remarkably brave task she’s
undertaken?” Ardeth said, angry with Jonathan for being so rude.
I was a little taken back. I had never seen him so riled up over
much before; he had always been the type to remain calm through
even the worst of situations, yet here he was defending me as
though he was my husband. I blushed as the idea crossed my mind
and Jonathan frowned a little, but nodded his head toward Ardeth
and accepted his proposal. I love my brother dearly, but his
mood swings and bad tempers can often annoy me so much that I
forget all about our wonderful relationship.
“Jonathan, you really should not be so angry with me. I told you
this would work and now it has. Are you not in the least bit
glad that he’s back?” I said, approaching my brother.
Jonathan eyed me suspiciously for a moment but soon recovered
from his nasty mood and beamed at me brighter than the sun could
shine. I returned his smile and jumped into his arms, clinging
to him and whispering thank you repeatedly into his ear. When I
let him go, we all made our way back to the hotel to find Rick.
I asked Jonathan where he was when he left him, but he simply
said he’d gone to the bar to have a few rounds with our American
friends.
I gagged at the thought of being surrounded by that ghastly
group of men and shuddered, but did not object to a drink or
two. I just hoped that Beni would not be joining them. I can’t
imagine Rick having forgiven him so soon, so perhaps I was in
luck.
As we all walked down the gold steps into The Electrum, Rick
waved us over to the bar and we headed on over straight away.
The music in the background delighted my ears, but first I
needed a drink to warm myself up before considering giving them
all another show. With Jonathan in front of me and Ardeth
somewhere behind, I glanced over Jonathan’s shoulder and caught
sight of Beni with a horrible black eye he was trying his best
to shield with his hand. In his other hand he held a large glass
of wine and was gulping it down like there would be no tomorrow.
I scoffed and stopped in my tracks when he looked over at me,
grinning again as he had done when we were alone. Ardeth, not
looking where he was going, bumped into me and managed to catch
me before I fell into the wine fountain. I blushed and
apologised to him for being so clumsy and let him walk ahead of
me.
He did so, though curious as to why I wouldn’t carry on walking.
As we got closer to the gang, I hid myself behind Ardeth’s cloak
and he laughed a little at my childish ways. I only punched his
arm and received a growl in return, but stayed behind him. When
we finally reached the bar, Beni was seated right in front of
where Ardeth stood chatting with Rick. Rick, unlike Jonathan
earlier, seemed very happy to see him. I knew the two had grown
close on our last visit and were now pretty much brothers in a
way. It was nice to see someone liked having him back.
Beni winked at me from his seat and took another sip of his
wine. I wrapped my arms around one of Ardeth’s and lay my cheek
against the top of his arm, not daring to move. Ardeth was very
confused, until Rick whispered something into his ear and he
glared daggers at Beni, both of them did. I was highly amused,
but still fearful of being around Beni for too long.
Once Ardeth had been made aware of the situation, thanks to Rick
and Jonathan, he lifted his arm so I would release it, took a
seat at the bar and pulled me onto his lap.
“Ardeth!” I squeaked, wondering what he was doing.
“Relax, it’s just so he doesn’t bother you tonight.” he spoke
into my ear, calming me.
I played along and nuzzled his neck, twirling his hair around my
little finger as I did so. Rick seemed almost amused at the
sight, which was strange, but I knew he liked Ardeth too much to
take a swing at him. Jonathan had lightened up a little himself
and was also grinning at the pair of us pretending to be a
couple and very much in love. I heard Beni growl in anger and
turn his attention away from me, at last. I pecked Ardeth on the
cheek and thanked him for being so helpful.
“Anytime. Besides, I think I owe you for what you did for me
today” he replied.
“Oh, Ardeth, you really don’t have to feel that way about it.
I’m just glad that you’re back safe and sound and nothing can go
wrong anymore.” I said, attempting to hop down off his lap.
When he noticed I was trying to leave him, his hands gripped my
waist tightly and I gasped. It didn’t hurt, but it wasn’t
expected. I turned my head slightly to see his face and he
looked very serious. It was a scary kind of serious, nothing
smouldering going on at all. I decided to just stay where I was
for the time being until he felt like letting me go, whenever
that would be. They all dove into a conversation about past
times and I was left sitting there running my finger around the
rim of an empty glass, pouting severely. After almost two hours,
their conversation died down and I quickly jumped off his lap
and scurried over to the middle of the room.
Another melody had begun to play, building up my courage and
brightening up my mood; I just had to get up and dance. I
recognised the beat straight away, having performed with this as
backing music before, though never in front of so many people.
I spun in a small circle, raising the ends of my Harem skirt to
attract attention and request that people make way for me to
dance. As the music continued, lyrics appeared with it and
without reason, I started to sing along as I twirled in my
space. My hips moved to their own rhythm and thunderous applause
surrounded me. Wolf whistles flew my way from near the bar and
both my brother and ex husband were standing on their seats and
chanting my name. I had to giggle at the drunken mess they had
gotten themselves into and finished my dance shortly after.
Applause took over again as I made my way over to the bar and
hugged them both. When I turned to hug Ardeth as well, he was
missing. I didn’t know whether to scream in anger or worry.
Jonathan grabbed my wrist, pulled me toward him and told me he’d
gone to the library.
I grew very angry with him. That was twice he had walked out on
me dancing now and I wasn’t a very happy bunny. My aim the first
time had been to simply enjoy the music, but this time I’d been
trying to seduce him, and he wasn’t even the slightest bit
interested. I stomped up the gold steps out of The Electrum and
stormed down the long hallway leading out of the building.
Out of nowhere, a hand gripped the side of my skirt and pulled
me backwards. I screamed in horror, thinking it was Beni, but
that same hand covered my mouth to silence my screams. I
continued to mumble for help anyway, not wanting whoever it was
to get away with this.
“Shh, it’s me” whispered a voice into my left ear.
I stopped my struggle and silenced my voice at the sound of his.
I relaxed once more, leaning into him as he moved his hand away
from my mouth. Then, I remembered that he had left while I was
dancing and all of my anger rushed back to me. Without fear and
with the urge to get my own back, I raised my knee to kick him
between his legs, but he was far too quick. He moved his face
closer to mine so I could see him clearly. His eyes grew darker
and his expression was serious, very serious. I was scared all
over again. He looked from my parted lips to my rising chest and
grinned slyly.
“Are you afraid of me, Evelyn?” he cooed.
“No I’m not!” I half yelled, moving my head forward to try and
bite him.
He looked a little shocked, but continued to grin at me. With
his free hand, he lay it over my heart and in time with its
beating, he repeated the sound with his voice. I turned my head
away from him as my chest kept rising and falling rapidly. Even
I didn’t know why it was now. I tried to clear my head and think
straight. I knew I had been afraid of his seriousness, but I
also knew of the effect he had on me.
“I think you are. Or, could it be something else..” he said, his
breath hitting my lips as he turned me to face him once more.
“It could be” I said “Why did you leave again?”
Ardeth, amused, gripped the back of my thigh and lifted it up to
his waist. My breath caught in my throat and I panicked,
remembering what Beni had done earlier, but I didn’t let it
trouble me. Ardeth moved his lips closer to my ear and whispered
softly in response.
“I did not leave. I was watching you, until I couldn’t take it
anymore.” he said.
“What do you mean you couldn’t take it anymore?” I said,
confused.
“Your body Evelyn, the way you move, your eyes lingering on me
when you dance” he said.
“Oh, well, I’m sor..” I said, being cut off by his lips pressed
hard against mine.
I moaned at the impact and immediately buried my hands in his
gorgeous black hair. He didn’t mind, he simply held my leg
tightly in place and pushed himself against my body. My moans
grew louder with every push and before long, I couldn’t take it
anymore either.
“Ardeth, I can’t wait any longer” I purred into his ear.
“Nor can I, you’re so beautiful” he said, gasping at the
pressure inside his robes.
I grinned sheepishly at his eagerness and had to wonder what had
taken him so long. If I was being honest with myself, it had
been our first trip to Hamunaptra that shone a light over
Ardeth, and my eyes no longer saw him as just a friend.
I lay my hands gently on his chest, pausing him just as his lips
tried to connect with mine again. The passion building in his
eyes was clear as day, and I was certain the same flame burned
in my own.
“Ardeth, how about we go back to the hotel and have a little
something to drink” I whispered, licking his lips lightly with
my tongue.
He opened his mouth ever so slightly and I felt his warm breath
hit my tongue. It was ever so arousing, but I wanted to get him
up to my room first. My patience was wearing thin however, which
was rather unusual for me, but I grabbed his hand and pulled him
out of the building. As we hurried along, he kept pulling me
back against him and running his hands all over my body, much to
my delight. I would have told him off had it not been such a
wonderful feeling.
In all my life I would never have imagined falling for a Medjai,
or a man anything like Ardeth, but here I was in the midst of a
blossoming relationship with one. It was baffling.
We barely managed to make it into the hotel bedroom. Ardeth
gripped either side of my waist and pinned me so roughly against
the wall, I had to gasp for air. He apologised quickly, before
removing my clothes at the same speed. I giggled despite the
seriousness of the situation and his stare calmed me instantly.
I knew I was quite shy all of a sudden, and he noticed it too.
My hands, shaking, ran up his robes and over the silver lining
patterns adorning it. He lowered his lips to one of my hands and
kissed my fingertips softly, closing his eyes as he did so. I
melted right then and there, knowing he had me and always would.

Oh my lord where do I start?! I loved this and I couldn't think
of a better ending for Evie and Ardeth. I'm a bit sad to see it
end but I suppose all great stories have to end. You did a
wonderful job my dear :) I felt like I was right in the middle
of it all and I loved every minute of it! By all means go right
ahead and write the next Ardeth story! I've always been a fan of
him myself and I can't blame you one bit for being entranced by
the man, you lucky duck seeing this lovely man in your fiance.
:D

I was a little put out when I realised it was coming to an end
as well, so you're not the only one. I am very happy you liked
it and I apologise for it being fairly short. I seem to keep an
eye on how many pages in word I'm writing and this one reached
14 so I slowed it down and brought it to an end. I didn't want
to, but my ideas for this other story were building up and I had
to end this one appropriately, and I hope I did that :D haha.
Ever since I first took interest in the Mummy movies years ago,
I was fond of the 'strange man in black robes', but it didn't
phase me much then. It seems to a hell of a lot now though and I
couldn't be happier with that. Thank you! I think so too, I seem
to see many people in him, including Jesus.. but that was my
Auntie's opinion and was a little odd at the time, but I get it
now haha.
