Okie dokie, here goes. This is the first of two banners for the
tie in story of the other Sullivan duo. I'm still tweeking a few
things on the character banner. I do hope you enjoy the setting
       banner.

and the second one if it decided to cooperate, haha. I do
apologize to you and to all the viewers if my banners look all
the same. I guess I've got a specific theme or pattern to go
       with, haha.

I actually love how you create your banners, it's very unique. I
also love your characters for this story :] Sully is actually
appealing in his own little ways, though I have never admitted
that before. When watching The Perfect Storm, my focus was
always on Bobby cause I'm quite a fan of Mark. Saying that
though, I do love William in Contact. Both your banners are
beautiful and I can't wait for the start of this story!

Aww why thank you :) I'm a fan of Sully's and William's in
general (I'll always have a soft spot for Kent Clark though.) I
do adore Mark Wahlberg as well, have you seen The Departed at
all? You'd love him in that, haha. I'm still tweeking things
over here and I do apologize. But I will post either today or
tomorrow, cross my little William loving heart :D I actually
forgot to mention that this story gives a bit of a background on
Sully and Emmaline while it ties in with Flower on the Vine. Not
sure if I told you that, if I did I'm so sorry.

I don't believe I have seen that movie but now that it's been
mentioned, it's on the list. Do not worry about delays in
posting :] I am struggling to write more to any of my stories at
the moment as I am trying to make everyone happy haha. I'm
getting a lot of complaints about the lack of work hunting I am
doing so I'm trying to ease that tension. You hadn't mentioned
that detail about the story before so it's alright! and now I
really cannot wait to read the first part of it :D

Alrighty, here goes the first part of Em and Sully's story and I
do hope you enjoy it. I apologize for not posting it sooner but
I was so caught up tweeking things I finally got it right, or at
       least I hope I did.
       July
"Oh dear lord it can't be morning already..."
I muttered to myself as the first bright rays of summer sunshine
came through my window. The cool sea scented breeze of early
       July
wafted in through my bedroom window that overlooked the busy
Main drag of town. I rolled over and held my pillow that much
tighter. It was one of those days that I didn't dare want to
move. I'd worked the past week non stop at the Crow's Nest and
pulled a double last night at the baseball field running the
beer tent. I heard a thud at my bedroom door as my mother
knocked and then a shout from my older brother Bobby down below
       on the street.
"Hey Pun'kin head! Up and adam! Ma wants you to help her clean
the kitchen at the Nest today! Shake a leg!"
I detested that nickname and thanks to my flaming orange hair it
stuck. I stalked over to the window and leaned out to find Bobby
still standing there with that big grin on his face.
"I'm up you big jerk! Why don't ya yell a little louder so all
       of Gloucester can here you!?"
I immediatly wished I'd never said that because the grin on
Bobby's face grew wider as he took a deep breathe and shouted.
       "Punk'kin head! Pun'kin head! Emmaline Grace Shackleford's a big
       ol' Pun'kin head!"
It seemed everyone on Main Street heard and craned their necks
up to the window and stared at me as Bobby busted a gut on the
sidewalk and I ran away from the window and grabbed the clean
clothes that were folded on top of the dresser. I stomped
downstairs as I finished pulling my hair up and glowered at my
       mother.
"Why can't we train him to be more civilized, Ma?"
My mother chuckled as she grabbed the ring of keys for the bar
and shook her head as we walked out into the bustling noisy
morning that was typical in Gloucester in the summer, the
tourists hadn't invaded yet so we were lucky to be getting work
done. My mother sighed as she unlocked the door to the Crow's
Nest and started to turn down chairs at some of the larger
       tables.
"If he was any other way you'd be unhappy, Em. He's only doing
it because he knows it gets you riled up. Now, why don't you go
and get that fish chowder started for the lunch crowd?"
I was already elbow deep in sudsy dishes from last night and
       glowered.
"Why do I have to go? I'm elbow deep here, Ma."
My mother's head popped into the kitchen and she looked at me
with the same sharp green eyes she and I shared.
"Shake a leg, Em. I'll finish the dishes, we've got to get a
move on on that chowder. Boats are coming in today and those
guys are going to be hungry as wolves."
I rolled my eyes as I striped off my rubber kitchen gloves,
grabbed the canvas tote bag from the hook off the wall, and
stalked off through the back door of the kitchens and went down
to the docks where the boats were offloading their catch of the
       day.
After flagging down Bobby I ended up with ten pounds of cod
filets and some trout to add to that chowder.
"You'll never guess who's due back in town tonight, Em."
Bobby said as he went about gutting the rest of the fresh cod
       with lightening fast precision.
I sighed as I adjusted the bag that was slung over my shoulder
and leaned against the dock post. I knew exactly who was due
back in town and half expected him to lose my number. Billy
Sullivan was the type of guy that lived on the edge of every day
because he was convinced that tomorrow would be the last day of
his life. Something I admired and feared all at the same time.
We'd met through Bobby a few summer back when I was working on
one of the processing boats and had hit it off from the start.
We'd meet up every time Sully came into port and settled for a
few days and waited for room on a boat. We barely seperated the
entire time and people began to wonder just exactly what our
deal was. We shrugged it off and told the nosey old hens to step
       off and leave us be.
"I know exactly who's coming into town tonight and if you're
going to ask what's on the agenda don't because I'm not telling,
       Bobby."
Bobby sighed as he went about fileting the cod and looked at me.
"I don't know about you, Em. When are you ever going to settle
down like the rest of the girls in town, huh? Most of the girls
you graduated with got families by now. Ma's been wanting a
       grandkid for six years now."
I rolled my eyes as I set down the tote bag and looked Bobby in
       the eye.
"Well, you're the first born son, why don't you get married and
have a kid, huh? You've been going with Christine for what?
Eight, nine years now? I'm just the second born, I don't count,
brother dear. Dad'll tell ya that."
Bobby tensed at the mention of our father who it seemed only
came into the picture ever so many years just to stir things up
at home. Our parents divorced when Bobby was ten and I was five
so I honestly don't remember much of our father, except he was
partial of forgetting he was married and bringing home strange
women when he thought the rest of us were asleep. Ma finally had
enough and went against her Catholic faith and filed for
divorce. Something totally unheard of in Gloucester, or atleast
it was at the time she did it.
"You do too count, Punk'in head. So don't be talking like that."
I pulled Bobby in for a quick hug and then checked my watch and
hightailed it back to the Crow's Nest before Ma got ticked at
       me.
I ended up spending the better part of the day peeling and
cutting various vegetables while Ma went to work on prepping the
fish and serving the odd customer when they stopped in.
Fishermen filtered in and out until the usual twelve AM closing
time and still there was no sign of Sully. I'd long been
deserted by my mother who had looked at worn out as I felt.
       "Figures..."
I muttered to myself as I collected the last of the beer bottles
and overflowing ashtrays. I had made my final rounds around the
place, wiped down the bar, and turned out the lights before
locking the doors and making my way home. After wrestling with
the front door and tip toeing upstairs and flopping down on my
bed I was ready to call it a night. Until I heard a tapping at
my window. I rolled over onto my side and cracked open the
window just as another pebble hit the pane. I looked down at the
dimly lit street and saw a sea worn Sully staring back up at me
with his sea bag at his feet and that devil may care smirky grin
on his face. His hair was a little longer, he was a little
thinner, but he would always be my Sully no matter how long he
       spent at sea.
       "Did I wake you up?"
The grin was unmistakeable and he knew that I'd be down in a
flash. I barrled down the stairs and through the front door and
threw myself at him covering his scruffy face in quick kisses.
"Are you crazy?! No you didn't wake me up! Do you know how much
       I've missed you!?"
Sully swung me around and set me down as he kissed me again and
       then looked at me.
       "You...seem...different, Em."
He sniffed my hair and then kissed me again.
"You haven't changed soaps or anything...but you smell
       different..."
I raised an eyebrow as I pulled him into the house putting a
finger to my lips to motion him to be quiet. We tiptoed into the
kitchen and I set up the coffee maker.
"You've been at sea a little too long, my dear."
Sully leaned back in the kitchen chair and looked at me with an
       amused glint in his eye.
"Twenty bucks says your pregnant, babe. A Sullivan man is never
wrong about that type of thing."
I waited for the pot to beep as I poured out a cup of fresh
coffee and handed it to Sully.
"Alright, you're on, Sullivan. I'll go out tomorrow and buy a
test and I'll show you that you're wrong."
       The Following Day
"I don't see why you asked me to go with you, Em. I'm a guy,
guys know next to nothing on the subject of pregnancy tests."
My brother moaned as we drove the next county over to a small
drugstore where no one would recgonize us.
"Well, for one Sully took my car today and two, your truck's a
beast and I can't drive a stick, oh and it was only day that Ma
gets called in early. Just grab two of those and I'll grab three
       of these...."
We hurridly grabbed a few tests each and booked up to the check
out line where we were met with wondering eyes of the cashier
       who looked but
       said nothing.
The thirty minute drive back was torture as I tried to make
sense of one of the test's directions.
"Well, what does that mean? There's a control area? These people
do know that I didn't take a day of chemistry in my life,
       right?"
I groaned aloud as we pulled into the drive way.
"You've got bigger problems, Pun'kin head. Your car's back and
Ma's home. Looks like you're going to have some company while
       you take those tests."
Panic hit me all at once and I seemed glued to the passenger
seat as Bobby leaned over and hugged me.
"It's going to be ok, I promise. Ma's probably going to be over
the moon if you are. Sully'll marry you no matter what..and
maybe all those girls we went to school with will stop talking
       about you.."
I was trying to calm myself down and tried to brush off the last
part of Bobby's little pep talk and grabbed my bag and made my
way into the house to see Ma and Sully all but staring at me
       both with knowing eyes.
"Will you two knock it off?! I've got the stupid tests right
here. Ended up going a county over for the stupid things..."
I realized I was rambling and mother looked confused while Sully
tried ever so hard not to laugh.
My mother looked confused but said nothing as she was used to my
rambling rantings from an early age. I thanked my lucky stars as
she simply said she was going up into Annisquam to visit one of
the many aunts Bobby and I had and wouldn't be back until Friday
night. She'd left without another word and kissed both Sully and
I goodbye and took off for the door leaving the two of us in
silence. I flopped down at the kitchen table and stared at that
stupid bag that had "Thank you come again" scrawled across it in
bright red script complete with smiley faces. Sully looked at me
with a wry smile on his face as looked at the clock.
"How many did you buy, Em? You only needed one..."
I scowled and looked Sully in the eye before blowing my bangs
       out of my eyes.
"I've heard that sometimes a test gives a false result so I
wanted to be sure I wasn't getting jipped."
Without another word I grabbed the bag and stalked off toward
       the downstairs bedroom.
"I don't see why you blew all that money on those tests. I'm
telling you a Sullivan man is never wrong.."
My only response was to slam the bathroom door at his chuckles
and start taking those stupid tests.
Two hours and twelve tests later I sat there in the bathroom
dumbfounded as Sully sat down in the hallway outside the
       bathroom door awaiting the details.
"Well? Are you going to sit in there for the rest of our child's
       life or not, Em?"
Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at all the tests that all
       had the same positive result.
"They've got to be wrong. He's got to be wrong..."
I finally got to my feet and opened the bathroom door to find
Sully sitting with his back against the worn wood paneling by
the stairs with a grin plastered on his face.
       "Aww, don't cry, Em."
Was all Sully said as he pulled me into a tight hug and kissed
the top of my head as I sobbed into his shirt.
"You were right...and now what the hell are we going to do? We
swore up and down that we'd get out of this town before we had
       kids, Sully."
Sully stroked my back as I tried to catch my breathe and sighed.
"Well, it just wasn't meant to be, I suppose. We can make a go
of it, I promise. I talked to my Dad about one of his cabins.
It'll need some work but we can do it before you get too far
along. It's not too far from the docks and it's ours free and
clear. We can go on up to the court house and get a marriage
liscense and everything by the weekend. My cousin Charlie can
stand in for my witness and Bobby and your Ma'll be yours. We
can do this, Em, we just have to put our hearts into it."
For some reason I now felt that my tears were selfish and
unwarrented. I should be happy to be getting on with my life, no
matter how unplanned for this baby was it was going to be coming
into a world filled with love. I ofcourse didn't plan on all the
ups and downs that were to come but honestly, who does when such
a rosey picture is painted in their mind?
A wedding date was set for the following Saturday along with a
doctor's appointment and things seemed to be going full tilt as
I found out I was a month along and due the first part of March.
Sully and I moved our meager possessions into the worn down old
cottage down a dirt road from the docks. I was skeptical about
the place but in time it came together as Sully and I worked at
a quick pace nights and weekends with the help of his cousin
Charlie who was skilled roofer. Bobby helped lay the carpet in
the front room and the nursery and ended up being rushed the ER
for a smashed set of fingers on his left hand. Sully had crafted
a set of toy chests and a crib and by some divine grace of God
didn't end up losing a single digit. Between the two of us we
painted the nursery and the living room before I was in my sixth
month. We'd decided to leave the master bedroom due to time
constraints and work schedules. Life was quiet for the most part
until Sully was laid off and ended up working on one of the
processing boats before it tanked and then finally ended up
working odd welding and parts repair jobs for old man Wyler.
Times were tight and the belt was sinched as tight as it could
go and that's when our darling daughter decided to make her
grand entrance into the world feet first resulting in a very
long labor which resulted in a cesarean section and four day
hospital stay and restrictive recovery for me and very large
hospital bill made out to Sully.
"I can't believe one little person could cost this much..."
Sully moaned as he made out our second very large payment to the
hospital one night after I'd put the baby down.
"I know...maybe we should just name her bank breaker or
something. It's unethical for a baby to go this long without a
       name, Sully."
Sully ran his hands through his hair and thought for a second.
"Well, my grandmother's name was Sarah...and I was always her
       favorite...how about Sarah then?"
It was settled and the paperwork was finally filed and Sarah was
finally named. Although Bobby had dubbed her lil' Pun'kin head
two and was quite upset that his suggestion of naming her after
him only spelt with an i instead of a y didn't go down so well.
"Mark my words, Sullivans. You'll have a second and that one'll
       be named after me!"
Sully and I had laughed in his face and called him crazy because
we planned on spacing our children out to avoid financial ruin.
Like everything else in our lives things just didn't go as
       planned.

This is an excellent chapter and I can't wait to read an update.
I was all emotional when Em got sad over finding out she was
actually pregnant, I'd be sad too but not only because I don't
want children, as mean as that sounds haha. You wrote this
wonderfully and it's drawn me in. I feel so sorry for them
having to deal with all that debt in regard to the baby though!
I hope they can pay it all back very soon.
