Aww I'm glad! I thought that perhaps I've overdone it and that
their antics were getting old, haha. There's more mischief to
come from the guys so don't worry. :) I must warn you though,
Shell and Axl aren't doing so well, my blasted fingers know more
about this then I do so I'm nervous. Please don't hate me after
the next the update! It's the fingers' fault. I've got a feeling
that things may seem like they're working out but someone's
coming back into her life that she'd rather not deal with and
it's not in the form of a lover either. I do apologize for this
update, I cried while writing certain parts it. :(

       January 19,
"Are you sure you wouldn't rather just stay home? I mean You're
still getting over your Dad and everything.."
I sighed as I passed Axl a duffel bag out of the closet. We'd
been home since the sixth of January and things weren't getting
any easier. I'd have my good days where I was on top of the
world and then one little thing like an old movie, or an inside
joke would pop into my head and I'd reach for the phone and dial
the phone number that was ingrained in my memory only to get
that constant ringing that no one was destined to answer.
"I 'm telling you and I keep telling you I'm going to be fine.
Maybe this is what I need, something to keep me busy, something
that I can work through. Besides, you know I'm always up for
traveling. Did you remember to pack your toothbrush?"
Axl rolled his eyes and chuckled before checking his bag.
"Yea...no. Damn, how do you always know? You know I'd be lost
       without you, right?"
I shook my head as I reached into the dresser and took out extra
pairs of jeans and some sweatshirts and rolled them so they'd
fit into my own duffel bag.
"I know, and that's why you always want me to pack your bags."
A gleam twinkled in Axl's eye, a gleam I knew so well. I
grinned and took off from the bedroom and ducked downstairs to
an otherwise empty house with Axl close at my heels.
"If you want me you're going to have to come and get me!"
"You do realize I took cross country, right?" he called as we
sprinted down into the kitchen and squared off in the kitchen
dodgeing each other's movements around the kitchen island.
"Oh yeah, for what two years? C'mon Rose you can do better then
       that."
I took off out the backdoor and cut around the side garden.
I stopped for a second and waited wondering where the hell Axl
       went to.
"He's probably given up by now."
I muttered to myself but was cut off by arms grabbing me by the
waist and biting ever so lightly on my neck then trailing kisses
down into the hollow of my collar bone. My knees went weak as I
let out a groan as my body started to ache for more then a touch
       or a bite.
"I win. I always win." Axl whispered in a husky tone and then
took off leaving me a crumpled frustrated heap leaning against
       the house.
"Damn it!" was all I could manage to say before storming back
into the house and hunting down a very innocent looking Axl who
was leaning against the kitchen counter with a knowing grin on
his face. Without a word I grabbed Axl by the shirt and pushed
him againt the wall of cabinets and deepend that kiss that had
       left me wanting.
"You have two minutes to get your butt upstairs or you're
looking at a serious case of blue balls for the rest of this
tour." I whispered into his ear eliciting a husky groan from a
       pinned and prone Axl.
To his credit Axl cleared the stairs in record time and things
were heating up in the bedroom. Neither of us noticed that a car
had pulled up into the driveway and that the guys were back.
In the heat of the moment, with pleasure at it's near peak Axl
       let out a yelp of
       "Oh God...Erin"
"What the hell did you just call me?!"
Axl looked at me with bewildered eyes and tried to play it off
       as a mistake.
This wasn't a one time thing, it seemed that everytime we ended
up in an intimate postion he ended up calling me the wrong name,
and every time a little piece of my heart seemed to chip away.
In the eight years we'd been together I had never failed to call
his name, and until recently he had always called mine.
Something was up and I was going hell bent to find out.
Neither of us noticed Steven coming up the stairs in excited
       utter glee.
"Hey you guys you'll never guess what we go.....OH MY GOD
THEY'RE DOIN' IT!" Steven screeched as he all but beat down the
       bedroom door.
My head snapped up and I ended up head butting Axl in the face
causing him to scream in pain.
I grabbed the nearest thing I could find which was the alarm
clock next to the bed and hurled it at the doorway.
       "GET OUT!"
Axl and I barked as the earth shattered around us a second
hadn't even passed as I pushed Axl off and reclaimed my side of
the bed and wrapped the sheet around myself.
In what was supposed to be the after glow I was left seething in
       anger.
"I can't believe he just barged in here like that! Who the hell
does that?! It would have been one thing if he were our child
but he's not. As for you, sir, I can't believe you called me
       someone else's name, again!"
Axl who was left with a bloody nose sighed as he checked the
       tissue he was holding.
I was never more happy to see him bleed in my entire life and I
tried to keep a cold sneer out of his range of view.
"Look, I said I was sorry, Shelley. I really am, I'm not perfect
like you are, jeesh. I think it's time to invest in some locks
or something to keep him out."
I grumlbed in agreement as I got up to take a shower and then
       change into some fresh clothes.
"Or I could just move out.." I thought to myself as I grabbed a
towel and slammed the bathroom door behind me.
By the time I was done with my shower and changed I ventured
downstairs to start our last home cooked dinner until the end of
       the tour.
"Man, Steven's still quiet...I wonder what happened.."
Slash muttered from the living room as he and Izzy were going
over their pre-tour check list and Duff was cramming as many
pairs of socks a single small duffel bag could hold.
I sighed as perched myself on the edge of the couch and mulled
over the thought of telling the guys exactly what Steven saw but
       then thought better of it.
"Do you know what's wrong with Steven, Shell? He's been sitting
over in that corner for the better part of an hour. You two must
have given him quite the show."
       Duff thought for a second.
"You didn't tie Axl up like you tied me up, did you? Although I
always liked those silk scarves and the candles that you
       used..."
Steven's eyes bugged, Slash and Izzy stopped their checklist and
all three sat there opened mouthed and staring at Duff and I.
I shot Duff a look and rubbed my temples for a second.
"Oh knock it off you guys. Duff and I were only together for a
few months, it was nothing big. Before anyone says anything
else, yes Axl knows. It was before we got together. It's all in
       the past, right Duff?"
Duff nodded and grinned while trying to cram a few more pairs of
socks into his bag with a cigarette dangling from his lip.
"Yupp, it was fun while it lasted. Now it's all in the past,
       we're just friends."
This explanation didn't stop the dynamic trio from breaking out
into peels of laughter as Axl came downstairs in a bathrobe and
       drying his hair.
"What's so funny? Don't laugh at my Bullwinkle slippers!"
We all turned to look down at Axl's feet and sure enough there
they were twin Bullwinkle Moose heads staring back at us with
all their cartoon hilarity which just added to the moment.
"No, we just can't figure out how Shell dated Duff..."
Slash gasped out as he wiped his eyes and got up to go into the
       kitchen to grab a beer.
"Well, She did, so what? Oh, Steven, the next time you have
something really important to tell us knock on the bedroom door
       first, ok man?"
Steven tried to keep a grin from spreading and merely nodded.
"Alright you guys, last home cooked meal before the tour, what
       do you want?"
Suggestions were thrown at me like curveballs until the consesus
was reached that we would be ordering pizza instead.
I went out into the kitchen to find the menu which was tucked
away in an ever growing drawer of takeout menus and flyers.
The counter was already littered with empty beer bottles and
Doritos bags which made me roll my eyes as I took the menu back
out and let the fab five argue over what was going to go on the
pizza. I had some major cleaning to do if I wanted the place to
stay clean while this tour went down.
Two hours, four pizzas, a few six packs, and one very clean
house later we finished up with the packing, our bags awaiting
us by the door and we all settled in upstairs for our last night
       home.

Here's part two of the update, I cried writing this and I'm
still going to apologize so I'm really really really sorry.
Please don't hate me, my fingers are still working out what's
       going on. Please enjoy :)
       Four AM January 20
       "Shell...Shell...Shelley...Shell..."
I was being shaken awake and just wanted to be left alone, Axl
would have none of it. I groaned, got up, grabbed my clothes
that were laid out and got changed in the dark. I hastely combed
my hair and followed the guys downstairs to the awaiting car
that was sent courtesy of Geffen. I eased in next to Axl and
Slash and promptly drifted off again not even so much as
uttering a good morning to the guys.
We boared the private jet that was also there courtesy of Geffen
and taxied off the runway by six that morning. I was in a
miserable state, I hadn't slept well the night before, My
stomach was killing me, those stupid dots were back, and Steven
       kept kicking my seat.
       "Steven...Steven...Steven! Knock it off, please."
Steven's head poked around the corner of my seat and asked me if
I was ok and I plastered a fake smile and told him I was just
       fine.
Axl was absorbed in the novel I'd given him as part of his
Christmas present and failed to notice that I was turning a
rather dull shade of grey and the pain in my stomach had turned
into a dull throb of sorts. By the time we touched down my legs
had all but turned to jelly, which I covered with a white lie
about them falling asleep on the plane, but my color had
somewhat returned as we made our way through customs and checked
       into the country.
Two hours and many questions later we were allowed to enter the
country of Brazil, which was quite muggy, it's a tropical
climate after all and I had failed to notice, it was crowded,
not to mention noisy, and good God the sun was bright enough to
blind you if you went without sunglasses for more then a second.
We were shoved out into the bright white heat that was Rio De
Janeiro and into the awaiting limo. I, being the tail ass
charlie that I am was the last one in and ended up smacking my
head off the roof and cursing a blue streak before settling in
       between Izzy and Steven.
"Today just isn't your day is it, Shell?" Steven said as he
ruffled my already tossled humidity frazzled hair resulting in
my bangs going every which way except the way they were supposed
       to.
I scowled and then nodded. I was already sweating through my
tshirt, I'd ended up ripping my jeans getting off the jet, my
stomach was killing me, Axl had barely spoken two words to me
(and on our anniversary none the less) and here I was being
treated like the little tag along sister by Steven.
"No, Steven. It really isn't and if you touch my hair again
you're looking at some broken fingers."
I seethed as I pulled my hair up into a pony tail and adjusted
       my poor abused bangs.
By the time we reached the hotel a crowd had gathered and
flashbulbs were going off from every direction. I hadn't
prepared myself for something like this and silently cursed
myself for not dressing in something besides ripped jeans, UCLA
       tshirt, and flip flops.
Axl was walking ahead of the group and already brooding about
something only he knew about, he still hadn't said two words to
me as of yet and I was beginining to wonder what the hell was
going on in that pretty little red head of his.
A camera was shoved in my face and a flash went off before a
command of "Say cheese!" was barked at me in portugese accented
English. I was scared to death and it was probably going to be
spread all over page six or something. We were finally at the
hotel doors with the crowd behind us our hearts racing in the
       same wild rythm.
"Please tell me you guys aren't used to that.."
Slash chuckled and shook head as we walked up to the front desk
       and signed in.
"I don't think we're ever going to get used to it, and if we did
you'd bring us all back down to earth. I think they're trying to
figure out who you are, they're trying to get in."
I rolled my eyes and waved at the throngs of journalists and
reporters grabbed my bags and followed the guys up to the
elevator to one of the upper floors.
Room keys were dispersed and I was left without a room key. Axl
looked at the roster sheet and looked quite irritated.
"Well, I guess you're going to have to room with Duff then,
aren't you?" he snapped before grabbing his other bag and
heading off toward his room with Steven.
Steven looked back at me, shrugged, and gave me an apologetic
look before mouthing "I'll talk to him."
I blinked back tears grabbed my bags again and looked around for
Duff, who was calmly awaiting me a ways down the hall.
"Hey, Axl's just under a lot of stress, he goes through this
       every tour.."
My stomach rolled at the mere mention of his name and those
       stupid dots came back again.
The door seemed to stick as Duff tried to swipe the key card
again and then wait for the beep.
       "Here, let me try.."
I offered as the key card was passed to me, swiped, and then the
       green light appeared.
"There we go...Sometimes the strip doesn't read all the way and
       the locks don't engage."
I fought back that searing pain and made my way into the room
which I was pleasantly surprised with. It was light and airy
much unlike the ones in the states who were all about dark wood
paneling and gold and green as a color scheme. The room was
nicely kept, hardwood flooring throughout, filmy white curtains
around the window and french doors that opened up onto the
balcony which had a beautiful view of the resort beach below.
"I could get used to this..." I muttered as the sea air mingled
with the fresh scent of tropical flowers and the sun shone down
       on my upturned face.
"Ooh, get a load of the mini bar. They've got the makings for
rum and cokes, a favorite of yours still, if I'm correct?"
I turned back to look at Duff who was busying himself behind the
bar organizing and most likely taking stock.
"How ever did you know? Or even remember?"
I was amazed, Duff and I had been together years and years ago
and he still remembered the little things. Axl couldn't even
remember my favorite flower let alone my alcoholic drink of
       choice.
"So, if you don't mind me asking what happened between you and
       Axl?"
Duff had settled into one of the lounge chairs out on the
balcony and looked out at the rolling waves.
I sighed and bit back a few bitter remarks before delving into
the subject of one W. Axl Rose as I settled into the chair next
       to him.
"It's a very long story, Duff. Too long, really. He's put a
block up or something and I have no clue what about. He's...how
can I put this? Oh screw it, he's been calling me the wrong name
in the bedroom for months, well, since the last tour. Do you
know anyone named Erin? I'm sorry I shouldn't be giving you the
third degree. I thought he was going to propose and he hasn't,
he even forgot our anniversary, which is today. His gift is
still in my bag and I'm dreading even giving it to him at this
point because I'm terrified that he's going to reject it or just
keep playing that indifferent game with me. I'd think that after
nine years together we'd be married by now, maybe thinking about
starting a family. Well, that blew up in my face. I'm sorry to
       throw this all at you..."
My eyes had filled up with fresh tears at this point, my stomach
was still addled with that searing white hot pain and those
stupid black dots were back again for what seemed like the
       millionth time.
Duff let out a soft sigh before looking directly at me.
"No, you don't need to be sorry about anything,Shell. Nine years
is a long time, especially a woman to wait to be with someone...
I think you have every right to be upset over him calling you
someone else's name...but as far as the name Erin goes you'd
have to ask him directly. I'd say just drop the gift off at his
door or gift to Steven to give to him. The fact that you
remembered is proof enough that your love is deeper then his.
Maybe you two should take time to talk it out? But if you need
someone to lean on you've got, you've got Steven, you've got
Izzy, and you've got Slash. We're all here for you no matter
what happens. Without you we wouldn't be doing this, we'd
probably all still be working day jobs and playing crappy clubs
at night or something. If he can't realize what you gave up then
he's an ass. You've got four other people who couldn't thank you
enough. I know it's not anything coming from me but, Happy
       Anniversary."
I managed to give Duff a watery smile of thanks before he leaned
in to hug me. The silence that had settled between us was cut
short by the blaring bleet of the phone on the night stand
between the two full sized beds which he got up to answer.
"Yeah, I'll be down in the lobby in a second. Alright, I'll tell
       her. Ok, thanks."
I sighed and came back into the room my eyes straining to adjust
       to the darkness.
"Let me guess, soundcheck?" Duff nodded and sighed before
searching his bags for a fresh change of clothes.
"I'm just going to get changed really quick, I don't want to end
up wearing something that's been through a few time zones. The
weather here sucks, man. Oh, and Doug wants to meet up with you
at the arena at like seven."
I nodded in agreement and thought about grabbing a quick shower
myself before I met the guys over at the arena later on when I
       was actually needed.
"Alright, I'll call him back and ask him to send up my passes."
After a quick change and quick goodbye I was left in the quiet
silence of the airy hotel room. I sighed in relief as I grabbed
a change of clothes, this time settling on a white tank cotton
tank top and jean shorts and my ever present flip flops.
After a cool shower, that seemed to wash away the pain and
resentments of the past few days I found I felt much better. I
actually smiled at myself in the mirror before digging through
my cosmetic bag and found a rather nice shade of pink nail
polish that seemed to fit my mood and perched myself on the edge
of the tub and proceeded to give myself a much needed pedicure.
As I changed and carefully walked through the now sunset filled
hotel room I flipped on the stereo and was pleasantly surprised
at how fitting the song was that was playing.
       Dusty words lying under carpets
Seldom heard well must you keep your secrets
Locked inside hidden safe from view
       Well,is it all that hard
       Is it all that tough
Well,I've shown you all my cards now isn't that enough
       You can hide your hurt
       But,there's something you can do
       You can talk to me
Talk to me, talk to me
I can set your secrets free, baby
I shook my thoughts of Duff as I checked the clock which read
ten after six and went about fixing my makeup and finishing off
my hair. By the time I finished it was almost six thirty, I
grabbed my bag which had Axl's gift in it as well as my room
key, turned off the stereo and slipped out the door.
I was met with open arms by Doug and the rest of the boys, with
the expection of an icy Axl who was focused on his vocal warm
       ups.
The show went smoothly, with only one or two broken strings
courtesy of Slash's overzealous playing, nothing was thrown at
the stage thank god, and the crowd was responsive. I was still
wondering what was going on with Axl but there was a part of me
that was too timid and afraid to even go up to him to ask him if
he needed anything. He was in a black mood and it was best to
       leave him at peace.
After two encores the band thanked the crowd and came back into
the dressing room where Doug and I were waiting.
"So, how long have you and Axl been together again, Shelley?"
Doug asked as he offered me a bottle of water. I accepted it
with a sigh, I felt the color draining from my face again.
"Nine years today, Doug...Uhm, do you suppose you could do me a
favor and give this to Axl? Tell him they go together...I think
I'm going to go back to the hotel.."
I rummaged through my bag and found Axl's gift and passed it to
       Doug.
Doug looked at me with a bit of concern but agreed. I had all
but gathered my things when Steven, Slash, Izzy, and Duff came
into the room spotted me and enveloped me in sweaty hugs and
       pecks on the cheek.
"Hey, we're going out, you wanna come with? Maybe see some
sights? Have dinner and drinks?" Izzy asked as he grabbed a
       towel to wipe his face.
Slash, Steven, and Duff all looked like hopeful, excited puppies
       at me.
I couldn't argue with those looks and I agreed but not before
asking Doug along who gladly accepted.
"Where's your fearless leader gone off too?"
Doug asked as we got into the awaiting limo.
Izzy sighed as he lit a cigarette and leaned back into the black
leather seats across from Slash, Steven, and I.
"Back at the hotel, said he was tired or something. I don't know
what his deal is these days. He's been short with everyone..."

Izzy looked at me for a second and that to me signaled he knew
       what I was going through.
For a split second I was actually happy my problems were aired
out into the open, that meant I wasn't entirely alone, or as
alone as I felt since my father's passing. That night I actually
felt a little more free, I could breath a little easier, and
those stupid black dots were few and far between.

Part three of the update for you for some reason it wouldn't
post with the other bit. Sorry about that. If you hate me I
       understand, but please enjoy :D
The morning dawned and I had actually gotten a better night's
sleep then I'd had in ages. I actually felt alive and
invigorated. I was sweating like a pig thanks to the heat but I
was invigorated. I tip toed into the shower, changed, and
ordered a light breakfast just as Duff's head peeked out from
under the covers on his bed. There was a knock at the door as
the room service arrived and Duff was finally awake.
"Coffee...need coffee..." He groaned as he rolled over and
propped himself up on an elbow facing the now set dining table
       by the balcony.
"It's right here...C'mon you've got to eat something too."
I said as I offered Duff a plate of fresh fruit and buttered
toast to go along with his coffee.
There was knock at the door which struck me as odd as it was
only a little after seven and the rest of the guys were probably
still asleep. Duff was about to get up when I motioned for him
to sit back down as I went over to the door.
I opened the door to see a worn out Steven clutching my gift to
       Axl that was still unopened.
"He told me to give it back to you..."
Tears prickled up into my eyes as I took the gift back my heart
       beating wildly.
"Steven, give me your room key, please."
Steven rummaged through his pockets and handed me his room key
and I stormed off in the direction of the room he shared with
Axl. I grabbed a bucket of ice that was outside Slash and Izzy's
room and then proceeded to open the door to Axl's room.
He was still sound asleep looking like an angel wrapped in those
bedsheets, I almost hated to wake him. Almost, but almost only
counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. I threw the bucket of
ice at the still sleeping Axl who was up like a gun dog hearing
       a gun shot.
"What the hell?! How did you get in here?!" Axl glowered at me
       through sleep fogged eyes.
"You don't need to worry about that my dear. I've got some
question for you but first I want you to open this gift. Right
here, in front of me." I tossed the still lovingly wrapped gift
into Axl's lap and perched myself on the end of the bed, eyes
       fixed right on him.
"But I.." Axl protested before I cut him off and said "Open.
       It."
Axl tore away the paper and gasped at what he found. A leather
bound diary with his original lyrics bound on parchment with
room to spare for more and a matching leather bound scrapbook
chronolizing his days from back in Indiana right up until the
tour. I had hung on to every little scrap I could find and the
end result was a book that he could look back on and recall
       nothing but happy memories.
"Oh Shell...this is..." I cut him off again and asked the
       question I'd been dreading.
       "Who is Erin, Axl?"
Axl's eye flickered that something I couldn't quite place
before, I recognized it. It was guilt, hurt, and shame.
"She's a model from the valley...she followed us around on the
       last tour...she's...just someone..."
I sighed and felt that my heart was going to shatter again, like
the day it did when my father passed away or the day we left for
California but I wasn't going to let him know that.
"She's your someone. Just like you were mine. I think it's best
if we just stayed friends. I've waited nine years for you and if
she's the one that truly makes you happy I'm going to have to
learn to accept it. I'll stay on the tour as an assitant but I'm
going to be moving out when we get back home. I want you to know
that I'm not mad. You're happy and who am I to take that away
from you? I'll be here if you need me."
Axl's eyes brimmed with tears as he nodded and then accepted the
       tissue I offered him.
" Oh please don't cry, I'm not going anywhere far away. I just
have a favor to ask, ok? I want to meet her one of these days."
I leaned over and pulled Axl into a hug and was taken a back
when he seemed to cling to me like a child.
" You were the first person to show me what love actually was,
or what stability means. I'll always love you no matter what.
You'll always be my best friend, Shelley ."
I hugged him back and then got up and smoothed my shorts out
before pulling a face as I ran a hand through my hair.
"Pinky swear? Just like the old days?"
Axl nodded as he leaned over and grabbed my pinky with his own.
He looked down at his gifts again still tearing up and his
       shoulders shaking.
I couldn't let him go like this without first trying to make him
       laugh atleast a little bit.
As I reached the door I called over my shoulder.
"Hey, don't ya know it's a sin to cry on a tropical island? You
always were an unsightly cryer, Billy."
Axl chuckled as he wiped his eyes and nose and threw me the
finger which I returned to him two fold with a grin.
"I'll see you later, ok? I think I've got beach and sight
seeing dutytoday. Somebody has to make sure Steven puts his
swimmies on the right way and that Izzy doesn't get Izzy-napped.
Where would you be without those two?"
Axl let out a laugh as I left him in his room and came out to an
       entourage of worried looking bandmates.
"Will you all calm down? He's still alive, I promise. Who's up
for a day of sight seeing and beach combing?"
Steven let out a whoop of joy and took off into the room and
came out with his beach bag.
"I'm ready! Last one of the beac is a rotten egg!" He screeched
before he took off down the hallway to the elevators.
"Somebody got catch up with him before he gets arrested."
I sighed as I went back to my room and got changed into my swim
suit and cover up and grabbed my tote bag that was packed and
ready for a day at the beach.
As I caught up with the excited childlike four a weight felt
like it had been lifted off my shoulders for now, at least.
As I ventured out to the rental car that turned out to be an
open top jeep given to us as a courtesy I went over my mental
checklist one last time before climbing behind the wheel,
buckling my seatbelt, and slipping on my sunglasses.
"Alright, everyone buckled in?" Yeses were heard all around, one
       question down.
"Anyone have to go to the bathroom before we leave?" A solid no
       to that one.
"Does everyone have everything they need?" Yes all around on
that too, three for three today.
As we were preparing to pull away a yelped was heard.
"Hey! Wait! Got room for one more?!"
There was Axl in bright red swim trunks and slathered in
sunblock trying to carry his beach bag out to the jeep.
       "Yeah, I guess. C'mon."
Some shifting was done we headed off for a day of sun filled fun
       and sight seeing.
After spending all day exploring the beaches and open markets
that Rio De Janerio had to offer we were all burnt to a crisp
even though we went through three bottles of sunblock. Well, all
of the us with the exception of Slash who had just deepened his
       already killer tan.
"I didn't know it could hurt to move..." Steven moaned as we
groaned in agreement and all hobbled back into the hotel and
       over to the elevators.
I made my way over to the front desk and got the desk clerk's
attention and only prayed he spoke English.
"Excuse me, could you please do me a huge favor and send up some
bottles of white vineger and cotton balls to rooms 410 through
413 please?" The clerk nodded and then asked me my name and room
       number.
"Shelley Kendall, I'm in room 412." I was asked to sign for said
items and then as I was about to walk away I heard the desk
       clerk call after me.
"Excuse me! Miss. Kendall. You have a message from a Mrs.
Maryanne Baker. Would you like it sent up to your room?"
My stomach rolled and spasmed, those dots were back again and I
felt the color drain from my face.
"Uh...no thank you. If Mrs. Bakers calls again please tell her
to contact me through a lawyer if she wishes to speak to me."

Oh my :O I don't quite know how to word my thoughts on those
parts you have posted. I'm still letting it all sink in and can
honestly say I'm in love with this story. I can see why you
cried whilst writing that bit; I teared up a few times myself
reading it. I do find it lovely that they are choosing to remain
friends however. I think that's always wonderful when a
relationship isn't working, it'd be nice to stay friends if
you'd gotten on so well. With them still getting along and
delighting each others company, it's nice xD but oh so sad! I
can't wait for the next part to see what happens :)

*peeks out into the board and comes out of hiding.* phew! I was
so upset when I posted those I wasn't sure how'd you take them
seperating. I actually felt guilty over that one, but I've got a
few tricks up my sleeve so don't worry I don't think Axl and
Shell are officially in the friend zone just yet. :D I was so
worried you'd hate me, for a second I thought I heard far off
screams during my General Psych. class today. I'm so so so glad
you like this bit. Oh, and you're going to *love* Mrs. Baker.
       ;)

Aww you shouldn't panic so much over how your stories go :] I
like that you switched things around and put something dangerous
in there, like them splitting up! I was a little shocked by it
because it wasn't expected at all. I started thinking that she's
pregnant, what with her vision going all blurred on her and
such.. maybe she is. I'd be surprised :O but not too surprised
haha. I wouldn't scream over anything like that xD but perhaps
my mind was screaming a great big no as I was reading. I'm glad
they won't be entirely seperated just yet! I'm excited for the
       next bit now :]

I do hope you enjoy this! There's more to come I promise :D
Perhaps a camping trip? Get those s'mores ingredients ready!
       August, 1992 (Somewhere in Wisconsin)
Axl's relationship with Erin seemed to disinergrate with every
passing tour date. We'd been on the touring roster for the
better part of a year, well a year six months and twenty-nine
days but who was counting anyway, and it was starting to put a
strain on them as a couple as well as the rest of us within
earshot. Izzy was nearing a nervous breakdown, Steven was even
more off the wall, Slash was indifferent, Axl was depressed,
Duff slept all the time it seemed, and I lived and breathed for
this tour to finally come to an end. We were all sick of living
in hotels, no matter how nice they were, we wanted home cooked
meals, and our own space. I digress though, back to the dear red
head whose life was in a tail spin.
Promises were broken on both ends, she said she'd be flying in
for his birthday Axl waited by the arrival area of yet another
airport for three hours, she never showed.

She called later that night saying that she just couldn't fly
out because of her dog being sick. He retaliated with promising
to spill the beans about their relationship in a Rolling Stone
interview but ended up saying he was single and intended to stay
       that way.
Truth be told it seemed that Erin didn't know quite what went on
on the tour which must have driven the poor girl crazy. I was
called in to talk to her and set her worried mind at ease which
       did little good.
I was told quite bluntly to but out and mind my own business
       because I didn't understand a musician's lifestyle.
I firmly but politetly told her exactly what a musician's life
entailed and that she could go take a long walk off of a short
       pier.
She placed a phone call to Axl a week later telling him that it
was over between the two of them
Axl was left in a bit of a funk and many a night he seemed to
find his way to the bar and drink himself into a stupor until
one of the guys or I went down to collect him.

I on the other hand had my own problems to grapple with, some
good and others not so great. I'd met an upstart guitarist from
New Jersey whose band was playing the small club circuit. He was
a guy that was content with where he was in life. Roofing and
home repair during the day and playing the bars and clubs at
       night.
After seeing the effects of touring and all but living in hotels
month after month it was nice to meet a "normal" guy with a nine
to five job and a hobby that didn't include getting plastered
       night after night.

We'd hit it off and we'd made a point of meeting up when the
band bounced back and forth from coast to coast.

Our current meet up point was in a small town in New York in
September when the band had a week off. Axl had taken the news
of my budding love life quite well even though his own had
       crashed and burned.
Now,for the not so great, It seems a certain Mrs. Maryanne
Baker, or as she was formely know Maryanne Kendall wanted to
talk to her darling daughter. My mother left my father and I
when I was twelve so that hurt was still fresh. I was left
bitter and hurt by a woman I loved with all of my heart who
traded in her family for some jerk from Wisconsin. I'd ended up
spending the summers with her and hated every second of it. I
ended up homesick and leaving early every other year. There was
something about Kenowsha that made me restless and unsettled,
yet every year I'd pack my bags and take the greyhound out. Some
part of me wanted to be close to my mother again and another
wanted to get as far away from her as I could. To her credit my
mother supported me through all the ups and downs and never once
passed judgement on me. I guess that counts for something,
       right?
"Will you just answer the phone, please? It must be pretty
impotant if she keeps calling you, Shell. I'd give anything to
have my mother call me like that and want to talk."
Axl sighed from my right as we checked into yet another motel in
the middle of what seemed like another endless night.
"I don't see why she'd have anything to say to me after
twenty-five years." I shifted my bags and followed the guys over
to the elevators and was stopped by the concierge.
"Miss Kendall, there's a phone call for you, shall I transfer it
       up to your room?"
I rolled my eyes before Axl looked over at me and nodded.
"Gah...fine! Transfer the call." I huffed my bangs away from my
eyes and looked over at Axl.
"If something goes horribly wrong I'm holding you completely
       responsible, Axl."
Axl grinned as he flopped down on the bed and scanned over the
       room service menu.
I thanked my lucky stars that he'd decided to stay in tonight
and not wander down to the bar.
The phone let out a screeching ring and picked it up while
trying to brace myself for the onslaught of the millions of
       questions she had.
"Hello?" My heart was beating a millions time a minute but my
       voice didn't quake once.
I heard my mother exhaled into the reciever with a huff accented
by the gameshow that was playing in the background.
"Took you long enough! When are you going to stop in and see us?
       We'd love to have you."
I rolled my eyes as I picked up the hand set and carried it over
to the opposite bed and motioned for Axl to move over so I could
       sit down.
I could barely get a word in edgewise as my mother went on and
on about her friends and neighbors going away to visit their
children or having grandchildren by now.
"I'll be over tomorrow, Ma. As for the grandkids you're going to
be playing the waiting game on that one for a while. Yes...I met
someone. No, we're not together anymore. Ugh! Ma, his name's
Richie ,ok? He's from New Jersey...No he's not involved with the
mob. Mom, stop. He's a very nice guy. Here, if you don't take my
word for it, talk to Axl!"
I rubbed my temples and passed the phone to Axl who was trying
       to keep a straight face.
"Hello, Mrs. Baker. Oh, I'm fine...I can honestly say that
Richie's a very very nice guy. He's in roofing and home repair.
He's a musician on weekends. I'm just happy she's happy, Mrs.
Baker. No, I'm still looking...oh please don't set me up, I can
find someone. Alright, Mrs. Baker, It was nice talking to you
       too. Ok...goodbye."
Axl rolled his eyes and pulled a face as he handed the phone
back to me and rolled off the bed to look out at the cityscape
       that was down town.
My mother went on about the church meetings and every other
little detail of her life that she thought would interest me but
       almost bored me to tears.
"Alright, Mickey, I'll talk to you tomorrow. We love you...oh!
Darryl says hello. Stop by any time!"
I cringed at her nick name for me tried to overlook it by
telling her that I loved her too and to tell Darryl I sent my
greetings back. After hanging up the phone I shuddered.
"She called you Mickey again didn't she?"
I nodded, cringed again, and sighed.
"She's riding me about the whole grandkid thing and she doesn't
seem to understand that I still want to live a life without
having to carry a diper bag."
Axl chuckled as he lit a cigarette and cracked open the window.
"Well, maybe she's trying to tell you something? You've snagged
a nice guy, you just bought that place is in Woodbridge.
Subconciously you're going into the settling down mode. I'd be
lying if I said I wasn't just a little bit jealous for you."
It was my turn to chuckle at that one as I kicked off my shoes
and went over to grab my bags.
"I'm not "settling", Axl. I'm just getting...comfortable. Is
       that a crime?"
Axl raised an eyebrow as he took a drag off of his cigarette
       shook his head.
"You're planning how to renovate that house already. You're
practicially picking out china patterns and baby names. You're
settling in, and no it's not a crime. It's adorable. I can just
see you going to PTA meetings and putting a down payment on a
mini van. I just wish I could find someone like that. Your
mother's trying to set me up with your cousin again..."
My eyes widened as I tried to keep a straight face while I was
looking for a clean set of pj bottoms and a shirt.
"Bernice? I didn't realize she was divorced again. What is
that...six now? Oh, and by the way I would never be caught dead
driving a mini van thank you very much. As for the china
patterns and names that's a big no. We haven't even been
       together a year."
My mind was turning through my list of friends until I settled
on one that would be utterly perfect for my darling red headed
best friend. I just had to track down her phone number and get
her to come out for some reason.
Axl looked at me with those glittering green eyes and tilted his
head to the side as he snuffed out his cigarette.
"You're up to something...every time you do that little grin
       thing you're up to something."
I put on a face and continued to dig for a shirt that I could
       sleep in.
"What you do mean, Axl? Damn it! Where the hell is that stupid
       shirt?"
Axl shook his head as he settled into an overstuffed chair by
       the tv set.
"You did that little mental calculation thing. Y'know the one
where you look over my head for a second. It's like you're going
through a mental databank or something, Shell. I've known you
for too many years not to pick up on that one. By the way, you
two've been together for one year, three months, and
twenty-eight days. By my calculations more then enough time to
contemplate marriage. Especially to a girl like you. I wanted to
marry you the minute I met you but I screwed that up. My loss is
his gain. But, back to that mental tick of yours, don't try and
       set me up, please."
I sighed and looked down, I was trying to come off as a little
upset and praying to God it worked.
"Alright, you caught me. I won't try to bring a little joy into
your life. I just want you to be happy, that's all. I've found
mine I just wanted to help you find yours."
Axl sighed and shook his head.
"I'll find it eventually. It might take me next to forever but
I'll find it, I swear. I think back on how I treated you at
times and I feel like a freaking jerk. If that had been anyone
else they would have left me. Why did you stay?"
I shrugged and thought about for a second before flopping down
       on the bed.
"Well, when you love someone you stick by them for however long
it takes them to realize they're worth just as much to
themselves as they are to you. I didn't want to leave you
because I knew that would tear you apart. You're my best friend,
Axl and best friends leave you high and dry just because
something didn't work. You know I'll be here for you. You know
every little thing about me and I know every little thing about
you. Maybe that's why we weren't meant to be a couple. Best
friends and twin souls yes, but soul mates on a man and wife
level no. A lot of people would give their eye teeth to have
       what we have."
Axl nodded, sat back, and thought for a moment.
"Y'know I never thought it that way before. That's a weight off
my chest, but just one question. What the hell am I going to do
if you get move to New Jersey? I'll be left all alone with the
       guys."
A whoop was heard down the hall along with a thud and a crash.
I didn't even get up to look because I knew exactly what the
other four were doing, having room service cart races down the
corridor and trying to play a game of chicken. By the sounds of
it Steven and Slash chickened out and turned into the closed
       elevator doors.
"Trust me, I'm not getting married any time soon but I can
promise you that I'll have a room ready for you, I swear. Or
call me, anytime. You do know that where ever you go they're
       going to follow you, right?"
Screams and yelps of were heard in the hallway as it was decided
that Steven was going to be the one to go down the laundry
       shoot.
Axl sighed before lighting another cigarette and getting up to
go out to watch the spectical.
"You're going to need a hell of an insurance policy and an
       addition to that house."

Oh my! this was a very interesting chapter to the story. Shell's
mother seems like quite annoying to be fair, and she really
hadn't bothered with her in so many years? that's disgraceful. I
can't imagine what it would be like to have such a nagging
mother, mine isn't like that haha. I love how her and Axl are
still able to have such intimate conversations about life and
love and all involved :] I also love how the boys are getting
themselves into all kinds of trouble yet again! hehe. Can't wait
       for an update :D

Shell's mother is quite the overbearing lady isn't she? I hate
to say this but she's going to get worse, haha.
Somewhere in South Dakota (two days later)
Well, this is just great, everybody in the state of South Dakota
must be asleep except me. I thought to myself as I stared at the
ceiling and tried to get comfortable. Axl had called it a night
and gone to the room he shared with Steven leaving me to myself
for the rest of the night. I'd thought about unpacking my bags
but the way we breezed in and out of towns it just wasn't worth
it. I awaited a phone call that never came from Richie, I tried
calling him but found his answering machine was full at this
point. He wasn't taking any of my phone calls so I asumed that
that was a sign of the end of our relationship. Maybe he'd found
someone more stable then me. I thought to myself as I tossed and
turned in the otherwise monsterous bed. I hadn't wanted to
worry the guys with trivial things that were going on in my
relationship so I had tried to down play the lack of phone calls
I recieved. I sighed as I heard the hammering of summer storm
outside, I loved the sound of a summer storm but at this point
it just made me feel all that much more lonely, I hated to admit
it but I was homesick. How could I even be homesick when I
didn't even have a place to call home anymore? I was starting to
wonder is I'd be alone for the rest of my life or if I'd ever
get the chance to sleep in once place again. I rolled over on my
side looked at the bedside clock that glared 3:45 in bright red
numbers. I heard a soft knock at my door and assumed it was a
lost room service cart again. I crawled over to what I thought
was the edge of the bed and ended up in a heap on the floor with
a solid thud I smacked my head off the wall next to the bed and
bit my tongue. I untangled myself from the sheets and padded
over to the door rubbing my forehead and trying to get the taste
of blood out of my mouth. I cursed my lack of height as I was
unable to see through the peephole.
       "Hang on a second."
I noticed I had a hint of a lisp from the bite to the tongue I'd
given myself and sighed. I unlatched the door and peered out
into the hallway which was otherwise desterted. My head was
still reeling from the crack it had taken at the wall my eyes
adjusted and I saw a soaking wet and dripping Richie standing in
the hallway with a suitcase at his feet and a grin plastered on
       his face.
       "Miss me?"
A string of gibberish was all I could manage to get out as
Richie searched his pockets for something.
I tried to keep myself upright as I saw a small black box emerge
from one of Richie's pockets as got down on one knee.
My heart stopped and my eyes grew that much wider as it opened I
       was overcome by tunnel vision.
"I didn't want to do this over the phone so I called in a favor
from five of your closest friends. Will you marry me?"
Flashes went off around me as tears welled up in my eyes and my
heart hammered away in my chest as I nodded franticially and
pulled him in for a kiss.
"Congratulations!" Five voices chorused as they gathered around
us and pulled us into hugs.
Five throats cleared and Axl, Duff, Slash, Izzy, and Steven were
       standing around us.
They each shifted from foot to foot and looked down like lost
       little boys.
       "What about us,Shell?"
I shook my head as I pulled each of them in for a hug and a peck
       on the cheek.
"Do you honestly think I'd forget about you? You four are my
       honorary...well you wouldn't be bridesmaids...bridesmen? Yes,
you'll stand in for my bridesmaids."
I looked at Axl who was grinning from ear to ear for me.
"I want you to give me away, Axl. Without you I don't think I'd
be here right now, it's least I can do."
Axl turnd beet red and agreed as I pulled him into a hug and
       kissed his cheek.
Thankfully they agreed and let out whoops of joy as they moved
around to pull Richie into a bear hug of congratualtions until
Steven turned to me with a worried look on his face.
"Please tell me I don't have to wear a dress..."
Steven still looked a little worried and I shook my head and
       hugged him.
"No, Steven. I was thinking a suit would be just fine."
After the guys retired back to their rooms and Richie settled
into what was formally known as my lonely room for one I had to
ask him why he showed up sopping wet.
Richie looked down sheepishly at the bedspread.
"I dropped the ring down a storm gutter and I had to get down on
my hands and knees to get it back.."
I shook my head and I settled in next to him and sighed.
"I'm marrying a guy with a serious case of butter fingers."
