Hardison Mill Schoolhouse

I’m a little hesitant to share this over on Tumblr because deep
down I think I’m afraid I’d get some sort of flack for it. Why?
I have no idea. I think I’m afraid of somehow offending someone
in some way. Either way I’m sharing it here because I know it’s
safe to post. I’m not sure if I told you about Mr. Feek’s blog
but he chronicled his life ( from his daughter Indiana’s birth
to his wife’s battle with cancer and everything in between )
thus far in a very touching blog that was then turned into two
books. Anyway, he went ahead and built a schoolhouse for his
little girl. An entire school house that grows as she grows and
I think that it absolutely amazing and worthy of support.
Thought I’d share the link, they’ve got a Facebook page at the
moment and the website is coming along. Perhaps I’m getting
sappier with every passing year but this brought a tear to my
eye as it warmed my heart.

This is absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing this here! I
would be prompted to share it around on tumblr and other such
sites as well, honestly. It's probably the one place that people
need to read about these things ( tumblr ), because I think
far too many focus on things that don't need attention - whereas
this definitely does. The school house itself is gorgeous and I
read some of the reviews from others on the facebook page and
commend all that he is doing, for his daughter and for other
children. It would be wonderful to have farmland, too. It's
actually high up there in the dream home list, but for the most
part, living way up in the woods, well out of the way of society
etc, is what myself and Drac are aiming for. I think we'll
probably invent in a little camper / combi van too for getting
around in, but for the most part, travelling on foot will
probably be what we do. These sort of lifestyles are an escape -
and beautiful ones, because in my mind now, I no longer want the
whole .. surrounded by houses and other people thing. I actually
want to be far away from civilisation, aha.

I just wanted to give a little update on the Hardison Mill
Schoolhouse. The preschoolers have graduated! I get so excited
when I read about those types of things, but this just warms my
entire heart like you wouldn't believe. I believe you can still
donate, but I will gladly double check. I honestly wish this
would kick start a schoolhouse movement, too many overcrowded
classrooms and not enough one on one time for children,
especially the ones living in rural communities. I actually
wouldn't mind the quiet farm type life myself. Even if I pitch a
fit about how icy our driveway is during the winter months and
how many times I've walked it on foot loaded down with groceries
and other things needed for life 840 feet away from other
people.
