       Irrational fears

I know I've got a laundry list of them these days but the one
that sticks out the most at the moment is the fear of Hepatitis
       C. I blame all of those commercials you see advertising a cure
over here, you can't go an hour without seeing an ad for it and
it's left me unsettled. I would love to add on to my collection
of tattoos but the fear of contracting some sort of disease has
me spooked, totally irrational because I've gone to reputable,
licensed and clean places for both of mine. It's frustrating
really because I was never like this before, I mean I used to be
       adventurous...now...not so much. It's like I've lost a little
part of myself. I think it stems from the fear of what would
happen if I did come down with an illness of some sort. I'm
terrified of being a burden to others and what would happen to
my loved ones/family ( yourself included my dear - you're
officially part of the kinship and always have been ;) ) if I
wasn't here. I know it sounds so stupid but it's on the top of
       my list.

I can totally get behind this fear because it's terrifying to
think of how easy this can be contracted. Among many other
things, of course, but this one is as much a horror as others,
so I really don't blame you for feeling that way. I know I would
feel the same; feeling as though I would become a burden to the
people I care about and the thought is wicked. I go through each
day worrying about this sort of thing regularly, because little
thoughts pop into my head of this nature, like ' Oh, what if
something happens to me? ' and things like that .. and all the
while, I am reminded that by default, within myself, I am only
ever interested in looking after other people, so the thought of
that needing to be the other way around is really horrid.
I'm not too sure what my greatest irrational fear would be,
really. I know I have a daft fear of needles and / or medical
things as a whole, but I would not go as far as to say that is
in any way irrational, for the amount of people who also suffer
from this. I think as far as irrational and a little bit daft
goes, I do want to include this fear I have of walking up the
stairs and then sprinting up them because each time, I think
that someone is going to run up behind me and grab my ankles.
This only happens at night, or if the house is dark, and never
happens on my way down the stairs .. only going up. I am fine
for all of a few seconds and then the thought enters my brain
that someone or ' something ' might be behind me, so I run for
       my life.

Thank you! I'm alone in that and it's big, no, it's huge relief
but at the same time it's hell because we both know what it's
like to have that same niggling what if thought. Needles, as you
said are very common and ton of people have the same fear but
the stairs thing you're not alone there my dear.
Stairwells/staircases are freaking creepy in the dark. It's like
they get long in the dark, must be a trick of a light? Oh lord
that's scary! The idea of someone grabbing your ankle while
you're trying to go up is even freakier than when you're going
down them. *shudders* I'm sending you some smudge stick to
cleanse those stairwells hun, perhaps it'll give you peace of
mind? But I got thinking about it and really...what's scarier
than the dark? The things that are actually in the dark. Does
that make sense? Either way, I feel you hun! I feel you!
