The One Thing You Always Wanted to Study...and didn't

Parapsychology. I've kicked myself countless times for never
having the stones to actually put my neck out and go for it.
I've found the study interesting since I was a child.
       Psychokinesis, Near death experiences, reincarnation,
precognition and clairvoyance have always fascinated me but
while my mother believes in it my father, sadly does not. I was
told that I was going to go to school for "something useful" and
that was the end of it. I'm also interested in Mindfulness
coaching but again was shot down with it being a bunch of
hogwash that would get me nowhere in my life. At this point I've
got my degree, ( a lot of good *that* did me, huh?) and honestly
I don't think I could go back to school even if I wanted to at
this point, I'm afraid I'd just end up having a break down and
throwing in the towel. Ehh. At least I've got a hobby, right?
What about you? Is there anything you wished you had studied or
even did study and then stopped for a reason and wished you'd
       picked back up?

I absolutely love that career choice and it's such a shame that
you didn't get to at least try that one out. I always commend
people for looking into that sort of career, because of how
beneficial it is to others as a whole, as opposed to being
single-minded and self-feeling almost. That sort of career
always makes me think about how, in extending findings and
learning more about what is really out there and sharing that
with others, you're also helping bring some kind of peace to
people. I like to think that the study of this particular
subject and all subjects leading off from that are important for
the world, so when someone tackles this and takes it on as a
lifelong passion, it's remarkable. Also, on its own and in
general, it's fascinating enough that even those non-believers
in such things, don't matter too much, because you're basically
studying something you find incredible and that in itself is
       rewarding.
Also really adore the career of Mindfulness Coaching, because as
I have pointed out above, it's always beneficial to others, as
much as you get a kick out of helping someone understand
themselves and the world around them a little more than they did
before. I always, absolutely adore people within these
professions for that very reason, as it's a step toward looking
at the bigger picture and taking into account everything and
everyone, as opposed to being stuck in a singular way of
thinking, where most people end up shooting for the stars in
careers that only wind up bumping their ego so high, they
actually lose who they are. I think mindfulness in general is
good for anyone to practice, because it helps with so many
       problems.
When I was younger, but old enough that I had gone beyond
wanting to be a Veterinarian, I wanted to go into Embalming /
Pathology, purely because I was increasingly more morbid back
then than I seem to be now. I still am fascinated by the
deceased and other such things relating to that particular job,
but I definitely am fully aware now that I couldn't stomach it.
Perhaps I am getting old, or I have shifted inwardly from
wanting to handle a dead body, to not wanting to be anywhere
near one. I'm not so sure where that change took place or why,
but I am adamant now that I wouldn't even want to try and tackle
such a career anymore. I also recall wanting to delve into
Cognitive Psychology .. still wouldn't mind that actually,
because I love leaning about the human brain and how we process
things differently, as well as how that can in turn affect our
behaviour, and how our own behaviour is a starting point to set
off someone else's. Also, why we do the things we do in certain
       situations.
I suppose I liked the idea of that career because it might have
       aided me in understanding myself.

You know, I've never thought of it that way? After all these
years , thank you my dear! It's very true though that studying
something you enjoy is reward in and of itself ( don't get me
wrong, I loved being in the classroom with the little ones but
sometimes...it got really really intense. But in hindsight it
did wonders for lengthening my patience to be honest. ) I'm
still considering looking into the Mindfulness Coaching and I
shall keep you posted. I'm just afraid that if I do go through
with it the area in which I live will see it as "too new agey"
and I'll end up out of business before really getting myself
started...does that make sense? People around here are so very
narrow minded that it boggles my mind.
Ah! I love your choices! I've always thought that both
professions were wonderful choices. The embalming/ pathology
always sounded interesting. This may very well sound morbid but
I think it's an art form of sciences. I mean, you're quite
literally the last person to see the deceased before their
family says their goodbyes. You're giving them a peace of mind
when it comes to their loved one and I think that speaks
volumes. Cognitive Psychology is wonderful as well! I say if
you're interested in and have the means to go after it do it. I
happen to think that you'd be a wonderful help to those that
need it, lord knows you've put up with me all these years and if
that doesn't count as part of the schooling I'm not sure what
does! ;) If you can help someone unlock the hows, whys and why
nots to their personality you're doing a wonderful thing.
