The Rant Thread Part II

Why is after someone famous has passed the press and hangers on
seem to feel the need to drag said famous person's good name
through the mud and muck? I saw an article earlier today that
basically stated that people should step forward as "Bowie's
Lovechild." I couldn't even get half way through the damn
article without feeling ill and tearing up. Now, I know that
David was no saint, he was a human being and he owned up to it
but please for the love of all that is holy let the poor man
rest in peace. I will never ever understand it and it infuriates
me to no end. Okay, rant over, please forgive me.

Ugh, really? I tend to see headlines for articles of that nature
and can't find strength enough to actually click them to see
what sort of tripe people are all for publishing about someone
who has passed on. It must be awful to have to sit and read
through things like that, because although there's a part of us
that knows deep down our favourites were not golden by any
means, they were also free to lead their own lives and do
however they pleased, which is a way of looking at it to bat
down any negative feelings that might pipe up, too, actually. I
don't think I've ever stumbled across any articles like that
relating to George Harrison, but most people are fully aware of
how he slept around, or how he cheated on his significant others
earlier on in life, and it hurts me to know that, but at the
same time .. when people dig up old dirt like that, especially
as he's now no longer here and has moved on to brighter things,
it's just like ' ... what did you earn from dragging this
person? '

I could have sworn I replied to your comment, I'm so so sorry
it's taken me this long to re-reply. Indeed. I usually try to
avoid those types of articles at all costs but one wrong click
and there I was, totally sucked in and totally heart broken. I
only got half way down and I had to stop. I once held reporters
in high esteem but these days it seems most of them have
forgotten their morals or ethics at the door and are just out to
sensationalize any thing or any facet of a famous person's life
living or dead. I couldn't agree more, what on earth have they
got to earn from dragging someone like that? I always thought it
was a horrible thing to speak ill of the deceased.

Ok, we know I think Jeremy Renner's adorable and he's a stand up
actor but I've got to wonder, what the hell was this man
thinking when he launched his app? I mean $2.99 a month to tell
the man you're his biggest fan? I get that it's supposed to
bring him a bit closer to the fans but all I can see it doing is
bringing out the fans that are full of themselves and enjoy
starting a "no, I'm you're biggest fan ever, Jeremy! Me! Me!"
fight and crashing the app thus causing fan girl chaos.
Basically pitting "fans" against the "super fans." It's really
disheartening to think about if I'm being honest. Maybe it's me
but I'm quite content to follow the man on twitter and view his
life from afar. I shouldn't have to pay for an app to get his
attention to tell him that I'm a fan of him or his work. I buy
his films for that purpose. I hate to say this but I think my
enjoyment of the man just went down a bit and man, that kinda
hurts you know? I mean you can have this with being a fan of
anyone be it an actor/actress or a musician or what have you but
damn, I had a little more respect for the man and he's sort of
blown it. Not that he knows that I'm alive but still. Sorry for
the rambling post but I had to get it out there.
