Slumber Stories

Putting up a new thread for this because the last one was under
' Giggling Glee ' and sometimes it isn't appropriate to have
them there, ha. The one I had last night has left me pretty
shaken and I'm snapping at everything, so I wanted to take a
little time to myself and managed to tidy the whole house as a
result, so something good came out of it. I don't remember many
details at all, so I'll make it vague just to get it off my
chest. I have no idea where such a thing popped up from; what
sparked it or even why, but I'm fully aware I've never had a
dream like it before. It was definitely more of a nightmare. I
killed someone —— or attempted to. I remember that the dream
started and I was drawing a blade through someone's forehead?? I
have no idea what kind of sick little games my brain is playing
when I sleep, but that was half of it. What followed was me then
pulling their scalp away and just examining the brain and god
knows how, but they were still alive and their speech was
untouched by what I had been doing. I was just standing over
them and thinking 'Now what do I do?' sort of thing, and they
were like 'You're going to get into so much trouble. You should
just put my brains back in and attach the scalp again and let me
go..' and of course, at that point in my dream, I did realise I
was dreaming and began to panic like crazy. Some time skipped
and I'm not sure what happened during that time, but when it
moved forward and I became aware of everything again, I was the
one with the scalp hanging off of my head and I was trying
desperately to cover the wound with a hat.. I just. I woke up
pretty quick after that and I still have no idea what to make of
it. I'm a little frightened that I would even try something like
that in my sleep.

Oh Wolfy. I'm so so sorry that you've had this kind of
nightmare. These kinds of dreams are utterly terrifying on their
own but when you find that it's really yourself that's the
subject of the dream it get even more unsettling. While I can
never say I've had that kind of dream I did have one where I was
strangling someone - turned out to be myself- but it happened in
a sort of a split screen type thing. ie; me strangling someone
and then me feeling that I was being strangled and it went back
and forth for what seemed like forever. But enough about me, I
did a little digging and I tried to break your dream down into
smaller parts just to see what I could find, I know it's not
much but I can't stand the thought of you being upset hun. The
first two came from dream moods.com and dreamhawk.com
respectively.
Killing - To dream that you kill someone indicates that you are
on the verge of losing your temper and self-control. Consider
the person you have killed and ask yourself if you feel any rage
towards her or him in your waking life. Your dream may be
expressing some hidden anger. Alternatively, you may be trying
to kill an aspect of yourself that is represented by the person
killed. Identify the characteristics of this person and ask
yourself which of these qualities you are trying to put an end
to.
To dream that you have been killed suggests that your actions
are disconnected from your emotions and conscience. The dream
refers to drastic changes that you are trying to make. There is
a characteristic that you want to get rid of or a habit that you
want to end within yourself. Killing represents the killing off
of the old parts and old habits. Alternatively, the dream
represents feelings of being let down or betrayed by someone in
your waking life. You are feeling overwhelmed, shocked and
disappointed.
Skin / Scalp - This is often shown in dreams as the quality
you display to others, or your awareness of someone else’s
quality. This means things such as skin colour, condition of
skin, whether rough or smooth, young, old, thick, thin, healthy
or injured.
It is also your contact with the world. Through it you feel
warmth or cold, wet or dry, and all the subtle interaction with
other people and your environment. So to understand the dream
consider what impression you have of the skin, then ask yourself
how this connects with your self image, or your sense of your
own quality.
The skin may also relate to what tactics we use to deal with
others; our strength or vulnerability in feeling the impact of
other people, their remarks and actions. It is our protection
against the huge forces we deal with every day.
Skin is a window on your emotions also – so any disturbance can
show in your dreams as spots or things. So what emotions –
strong ones have you felt recently? It could make you feel
uncertain of what people think of you, especially if you have
met a new girl/boy friend.
Self - Seeing one's self in a dream is a representation of the
'rational self'. ( I'm so sorry I didn't find much else. :-( )
Panic - Sensing panic in your dream could mean that you're
feeling overwhelmed by something in your daily life.
Maybe you've got a bit of some sort of pent up anger toward
someone or something? Those posts in Jared's tag could have
upset you. The job center? Maybe both? Then you've got the skin
part asking you how you've dealt with those strong feelings
lately - anger, sadness, fear etc. maybe it's your mind's way of
trying to rationalize all the feelings and the stress and
telling you to vent them? This is just a suggestion but have you
tried 'emptying your mind' right before bed? If you're feeling
an intense emotion, no matter what it is - write it down on a
piece of paper just to get it out, this acts as a sort of
pressure release valve on your mind and maybe it will help. Have
you tried visualizing a story before going to sleep? Nothing
huge or scary, just something calming like going for a walk in
the woods during the day or sitting by a stream - anything you
find calming. Or centering your breathing - ten or twelve deep
breaths in through through the nose out through the mouth -
before turning in? Even if you didn't feel edgy before you
drifted off you very could have been keyed up over something.
I'm so sorry I couldn't find more and I hope this makes sense
and can help you. Please please please keep me updated on all of
this hun. *hugs*
