{Neon Bullet meets Party Poison} — Neon is what most people
would deem quite a recluse, keeping her distance from anyone and
everyone in the hope that it might save her a huge amount of
grief in the long run, should those she loves fall at the hands
       of Better Living executives, or Korse himself. So far so good;
no one she had grown fond of had been taken, but she made sure
her feelings remained trapped in a jar to avoid the inevitable.
It is in no way easy ignoring your need to care for others, but
she manages, in order to protect her heart. On her travels,
however, she bumps into Party and his group of killjoys, intent
on taking down the destructive cooperation and exposing them for
what they really are. Despite her many protests and struggles -
she soon finds herself caring deeply about the lot of them and
from then on, she prays every day that they will never be taken
       from her.

I honestly cannot find the right gif to describe my feels right
now. I'm over the moon about this one! I adore Neon's style and
your banner and playlist are awesome! You've pulled me in with
the summary and I've gotta know what happens! *tries to sit
still and wait patiently but fails miserably.*

       Meeting The Fabulous Killjoys
Better Living Industries had taken control over nearly everyone
and everything over recent months, but there were still those of
us who denied their perfect drug and remained in the shadows.
Some were even brave enough to venture out into the afternoon
heat and take on a few of the corps most dangerous of dracs. I
was not normally one of those people, but today I willed myself
to go out there and fight for what I believed in. Those in
recluse who stood back and allowed others to fight, like myself,
were more than likely to be killed, but I had spent far too long
trying to protect myself and not offered any help to others.
Others, who were just like me. Those of us who fought to uncover
all of the toxic lies the corp had spread, were all very much
the same. We had a name, but only those defiant enough to enter
combat were worthy of referring to themselves as such. And right
now, on my first day in the sun and out of my hiding spot, I
deemed myself one of them — a killjoy, though I had an awful lot
to catch up on and make up for.
Nestling my ray gun into the side of my boot, I trudged out of
the shelter I'd tossed together weeks ago, having needed
somewhere at least a little secure to spend my nights, and
strolled out into the open. This was an unusual occurrence for
me; anyone with whom I may have made friends with would know
this, but the truth was, I hadn't. My own company was how I
wanted to lead this life because evading the one thing that
could be used against me was my best hope of survival. If I
bonded with anyone, they could easily be taken captive and
goodness knows what would happen from then on. Pushing forward
and stumbling a little with every step I took, there seemed
little hope for me and for others out there. We had only
ourselves to fight against evil and sometimes, that just wasn't
enough. There were those who formed small groups, however, and
they were much better off than rogues, like myself. But I would
forever be one. Developing friendships or other such
relationships with people was a dangerous thing in this world
       now.
No one was safe when emotions could be toyed with so easily; and
the corp did so enjoy ruining lives in every way they could. I
had heard that people lost loved ones because of Blind and it
wasn't hard to believe, what with all the drama that ensued on a
daily basis. I tried to avoid it at all costs and thus far, I
had been successful. Living alone and fighting alone was the
only method of survival, but others would disagree. Some would
argue that if you had friends around, they could guard your back
and look out for you, if ever you should fall victim to dracs,
       or high end employees of the destructive company. I digressed;
it would only cause great upset in the future when one or more
       were taken away from you.
My mission right now was to march at least an hour away from my
home before nightfall. I wanted to rummage around for food that
didn't taste like crap and perhaps some new, useful tools that
could be turned into weapons. Having my ray gun on me at all
times was great, but it didn't always work when I wanted it to.
A number of times had seen me trapped between two dracs, their
guns aimed in my direction, but my signature dive and roll had
outsmarted the seemingly braindead evildoers. I escaped that day
with my life and realised my life was now all I had left in the
world, so I was going to do anything and everything to stick
around. It was no easy task, but it gave me hope for the future,
my future and others like me.
With my back against the wall of a crumbling gas station, I
slowly slid along until I reached the corner. My gun was in my
hand and my finger hovered over the trigger, just in case there
was anything unpleasant to be seen as I turned. It was all
clear. There were no dracs in sight and as I looked just across
the way, I spotted piles and piles of boxes. They held food —
real food, I was absolutely sure of it. It did seem odd that
Korse would allow for unattended food to be left hanging around
like this and for a moment, I grew suspicious. But as before,
there was still no one around, so what harm could it possibly do
just to take a look? With that in mind, my gun still steady in
my hand and ready to shoot a hole in the first thing that moved,
I meandered through old cars and strewn about gas pumps, making
my way toward what I had come looking for. I searched my brain
for a number to help determine how long it had been since I ate
decent food, as opposed to all that foul tasting power pup
dished out every other day, or tins that had been discarded by
those who couldn't stand the taste any longer. I didn't blame
them and I too would have dumped mine, had they not been the
only edible thing I was able to get my hands on. It was
       disgusting stuff.
As I reached one of the boxes and noticed it was on the ground,
I knelt down and rested my hands over the top, now debating
whether or not this was such a good idea. There could be
anything inside and I wouldn't know, all because I was selfish
and hunting around for something better. What about everyone
else? The guilt kicked in and I realised not everyone could be
so lucky. I also began to panic; what if there was a bomb, or
something I could not put a stop to, waiting inside the box
until I opened it? I couldn't shake these thoughts, but at the
same time understood that I needed to eat something else or I
would no longer have much strength left. I wondered how others
were coping with the power pups they managed to pick up every
       now and again.
“—Hey!” someone yelled from somewhere behind and immediately, I
dropped the box and froze. I was glued to the spot with
absolutely no idea who had caught me, or how they had managed to
sneak up on me like that. My hearing was extensive and I hadn't
heard a damn thing. “Set your weapon down and turn around.”
A lump formed in my throat and I felt panic take over, but
dropped the box in my hands anyway and slowly stood, inching my
way around on the heel of my boot. There were a number of
possibilities as to who this voice belonged to, but thinking the
worst of everything, I assumed it was a drac or Korse himself.
Neither would be very pleasant and now that I had set my gun
down, I was limited as far as defences went. The dracs were not
entirely stupid and could get the upperhand in most, if not all,
situations. This would probably prove to be one of them now I no
longer had a weapon in my hand and I feared for my life.
“Move it!” they yelled again, making me jump and spin the rest
of the way around to face whoever had caught me, expecting to
see a tall, masked and costumed draculoid standing a few feet
       away.
However, my gaze was met with that of another like myself. He
wore a mask, but it was evident from the gun he held in his hand
that he was not an enemy of any kind. Perhaps luck was on my
side after all. Or maybe he was just as bad and couldn't care
less who he harmed, so long as it meant retrieving all the good
stuff for himself and any others who might be tagging along with
       him.
“W..who are you?” I stuttered, followed by a string of curses at
       the sudden mishap in speech.
The killjoy dropped his arm down to his side, pulled back his
mask and flashed me a toothy grin. Obviously, I wasn't in too
much trouble. I took a moment to admire his outfit, what with
the combination of black and yellow. His hair barely touched his
shoulders and was black as the desert nights. I found myself
smiling in approval of his attire, as well as his ray gun as he
toyed with the end of it.
“Fun Ghoul to you.. and you are?” he questioned, taking a few
steps forward before he started circling me where I stood. As I
was frozen with fear still and my body was unwilling to
cooperate, I did not comment on what he was doing; instead, I
       gave an answer.
“Neon Bullet — nice to meet you” I said, my eyes snapping up to
meet his once more when he stood in front of me again. There was
something about him that made me feel at ease, so I soon
       relaxed. “Am I in trouble?”
Again, he flashed another grin and this time, I could only
return it with the same amount of giddiness. It was not just me
then, who wandered this vast, lifeless desert in search of some
kind of happiness. Even if only briefly, happiness in this hell
       meant an enormous amount.
“No, 'course not. Sorry for disturbing you, but I came for some
of these boxes myself and er.. well, seeing as you're here,
maybe you could help me take them back to my hideout” he spoke
slowly, testing the waters as his eyes filled with hope and the
possibility that I may very well decline.
But I wasn't about to. I knew my rule of never making friends,
but all this guy wanted was a little bit of help, so I was
unlikely to say no. And those puppy dog eyes of his would have
made it even harder to refuse, so I nodded my head, followed by
a short burst of laughter as he jumped up and down like a little
       kid.
We both gathered a box or two under our arms and I followed
behind him as he led the way. Just up ahead, I spotted a vehicle
and was thankful I didn't have to carry the boxes any further.
My arms were already aching from the powerful heat directly
above our heads and my legs were giving out as well. I turned to
him then, waiting as he unlocked the car doors and held open the
back for me to toss in the boxes soon after he did.
“Hey, why don't you tag along with me? It'll save you some
trouble carrying a box or two back to wherever you're staying”
he commented, slamming the back door of the car and holding open
       the passenger side.
As before, his expression was one of a man who should be on his
knees begging and I found it difficult to object, so again,
nodded my head and climbed in. The smile remained on his face as
he closed the door and jogged around to the drivers side,
starting up the battered vehicle and pulling out of the gas
station. I wondered where he was staying and whether or not it
was any safer than where I had been residing for months and
months. In a way, I was happy just to get away from there, even
if it meant breaking a few of those rules I promised I'd stick
by when Blind first made themselves known. Friends of mine and a
select few family members had fallen prey to their evil ways and
were now beyond help. I could visit them, but they would have no
idea who I was or would try to convert me over to that horrid
       wonder drug.
“Rest your eyes, kiddo. We won't be there for a while yet” he
spoke up, after an hour or two of driving and noticing how I
kept leaning toward the window as though in a bit of a daze.
I smiled in response and tried to argue my way out of it, but he
insisted. I shifted a little in my seat, removed my shrug and
formed a pillow between my head and the window before allowing
my eyes to close over. It usually took me a long time to doze
off, but as we were driving around in the heat, I was out like a
light within minutes. My sleep was undisturbed by troublesome
dreams, which made quite a difference.
Usually, I had nightmare after nightmare and it was never
ending. My sleep was only disturbed when someone shook me, but I
woke with a bit of a jolt and held out my fists, ready to attack
whoever it was. It was then I remembered where I was and who I
was with. It took me a moment or two for my eyes to adjust to
their surroundings but as the sun had fallen from the sky and
twilight was in full swing, they were able to focus quite
easily. I looked around, rubbing my eyes a little and spotted
Fun Ghoul with a huge grin on his face, same as before. That was
pretty much the only expression he had been wearing since I met
him and I was steadily growing rather fond of it. Despite being
half asleep still, I was able to return it.
“Come on then, time to go meet the guys” he grinned, bolting out
his side of the car and stumbling around to mine. He pulled the
door open so fast, I jumped in my seat. But there was also a
look of horror on my face and it took him a long moment to work
out why, though he couldn't possibly know my reason. “Not much
       of a socialite are you?”
“—No, I'm not. I prefer my own company and don't really like
making new friends” I blurted out, only to receive a raised brow
from him. “I know I didn't put up much of a fight with you,
but.. oh, you would never understand. I'm just better off
       alone.”
“Aw, come on now. The guys aren't all that bad.. I'm sure you'll
all get along great, if you give them a chance. You never know
unless you try, right?” he said, moving away from the car door
and over toward what looked to be an abandoned bar. He was
giving me room to run, if I wanted to. Given the time of day and
the lack of energy stored in my body at the moment, it wasn't
likely I'd attempt that particular task.
“Uh.. right, okay” I finally agreed, closing the door and
skipping in his direction so I could keep up.
Fun Ghoul practically barged into the place as though he owned
it and though technically, he did, it had probably given someone
a heart attack. I playfully smacked him upside the head as I
followed in behind him, earning a grunt as a reply. The child in
me wanted to stick out my tongue, but I knew how ridiculous that
would make me look and I didn't want to leave such a bad
impression. He called out to the others as he turned away from
me and I flinched, not having expected such a loud racket from
       such a small guy.
“Damn.. big mouth you got there” I joked, taking it upon myself
       to wander around the place.
“If you think that's impressive, you should the tongue I've got
packed in here” he grinned, tossing me a wink, though in
response I shuddered and wounded his pride.
A soft laugh escaped my mouth as I went about my way and he went
about his, no doubt to go alert the other guys he had mentioned,
to let them know they had company. I wasn't really much company,
though. He gave me a little wave as he walked off and I sent him
another nod; I realised I would most likely be doing that a lot
while I was here, though I didn't really want to be here that
long. Come morning, I would have him drive me back to where we
first started and I'd be all good to go from there.
“Hey, where's your bathroom?” I shouted, only to have him shout
right back to follow the narrow hall until I reached the end,
then step into the last room on the left. I chuckled at his
marvellous directions and went on my way, down the hallway and
right to the end. If I was going to meet a group of guys, I
could at least freshen up a little bit, not that it made too
       much of a difference.
Just as my hand reached out to turn the handle, the door pulled
open from the other side and there stood a guy with vibrant red
hair. All we did was stand there staring at one another – not a
sound could be heard, nor the footsteps or voices of anyone
else. It was as though it was just the two of us, here, in this
old bar. I had to clear my throat after a short while and
dropped my gaze down to my boots, feeling the heat rise up on my
cheeks and knowing I had about thirty seconds to get myself away
from him. If my embarrassment became too much of a burden and he
was made aware of it, things could get a little hectic. In the
time I'd had to look at him, I'd made a note of how incredibly
attractive he was. His eyes were a beautiful shade of hazel and
that hair — it looked to be on fire with how red it was. My own
hair was a very subtle purple; I hadn't thought to be quite as
daring with my colours as some of the other killjoys around
here. And clearly, none I had seen on my travels had hair that
was even on par with this guys. As I stood there in my own
little world, I failed to notice his hand waving about beneath
my face and immediately snapped my head back up.
“Hey there” he flashed me a smile, raising his hand a little
more to shake mine, which flew up so quickly I almost gave him a
nosebleed. “I'm Party — and you?”
“Uh.. I.. Neon” I stuttered, realising how gentle he was in
taking my hand and giving it a light shake, as though I was made
of glass and would crumble if he did it any other way. “You
       know, I'm not that fragile.”
Party's eyes remained zoned in on mine as I spoke and minutes
later, our hands were still connected, though no longer moving.
I wanted to cough to clear the air a bit, but there was a lump
in my throat. As luck would often have it, I wasn't always given
so many nice things in life, so this one took me by surprise. It
took stifled laughter from a few feet away to break us apart and
I recognised Fun Ghoul immediately as he stood there, two other
guys behind him and all with their arms crossed and a stupid
       smirk on their faces.
My blush, if it hadn't been noticed already, deepened to an
ungodly level and I quickly excused myself. I took the nearest
exit, which luckily was one door away from the bathroom and
forgot all about freshening up. My insides were all over the
place and the butterflies would not give me a break.
Shuffling my feet as I walked a little ways around the old bar,
I finally stopped once I was on the other side and around the
back out of view. Without a word spoken, I kicked at the solid
wood with the toes of my boot and cursed a couple hundred times
for being so foolish. Yes, he was a great looking guy and yes,
I'd lost my senses for a while there, but there was no need for
me to have gotten so caught up; so wrapped up in some guy that I
completely forgot who I was, or where I was for that matter. I
dropped down, my back sliding against the bar as I went and no
doubt making holes in my lace shrug, but I didn't care. After
all this time of being alone and looking out for myself, having
no one to see me fail and no one to laugh at me if I did
something dumb — well, all of that was over now. Whether I liked
it or not, I would have to go back in there and face them all
sooner or later. And with the cool wind nipping at my exposed
skin, I chose sooner. But before I could pull myself up off the
solid desert earth, I spotted the hand outstretched in front of
me and looked up, only to find the same red head from before. A
tiny scowl formed on my lips and I kept my eyes on everything
but him as he hauled me up. With the strength he had, I stumbled
a little and went crashing right into him, much to my
displeasure and no doubt his own.
“Oh, shit.. I'm sorry” I muttered, gripping the front of his
blue jacket and not realising my nose was practically buried in
       his shirt.
“Don't be sorry.. that was my fault” he chuckled, straightening
himself out so we were once again standing upright and not about
to topple over. If we had toppled, I would have crushed him.
“You all right?” he asked, a hint of concern in those beautiful
hazel eyes as he checked over me.
I gave him a shrug in response, then nodded my head. There was
an evident pout upon my lips but he had chosen not to question
it. Instead, he led me back inside, all the while resting his
hand on my lower back. A simple, sweet gesture, but it gave me
       goosebumps nonetheless.
Once we got back inside, the guy I'd met earlier bounded over to
us both and enveloped me in a hug and I had no choice but to
return it. He whispered in my ear that he was sorry for laughing
like that and he really didn't mean to upset me. I smiled,
giving him a quick peck on the cheek before the other guys came
over to introduce themselves. As soon as we all knew one another
and everyone was okay with me being around, Party decided to
give me a tour of the place, as a safety precaution, or so he
       said.
“I just don't want her getting lost or falling over someone's
shit” he argued his case and I couldn't help but laugh at the
debate they were all having, as though it mattered all that
       much.
“Come on, let's get going” I spoke up above everyone else and
gestured toward the red head to get a move on before I changed
my mind and left. It took him no less than a few seconds to jog
over to me and slip his hand into mine. I wasn't expecting that.
My face flushed as it had done before, but a whole lot less,
thank god. With my attention set in front of us as we walked
about the place, I tried really hard to hear everything he was
saying and look in the direction of everything he pointed out,
but with our hands connected as though it was the most natural
thing in the world for strangers to do, I had to fight against
       my inner girly ways.
“—And this” he began, opening up one of the doors as we walked
down that long hallway I had gotten to know earlier. “This is
where you'll be sleeping. Is it okay?”
I peered into the room and easily slid my hand out of his grasp
as I walked in, examining both the interior and how it was a
dainty little space. It was perfect. A whole lot better than
where I had been living before and my eyes filled to the brim
with tears. When I had finally finished looking around, I turned
to him as he stood in the doorway and practically pounced on the
poor guy. My arms wound around his neck and I had to stand on my
tiptoes in order to give him a proper hug. A chuckle sounded in
his throat and his arms fell around my waist as he kept me
lifted slightly off the ground. I found myself smiling; it hurt
my face a bit, seeing as I hadn't had a reason to smile in a
very long time, so this was almost an entirely new emotion for
       me.
“Thank you..” I whispered, clinging to the collar of his jacket
with one hand and burying my nose in his shoulder to refrain
       from sobbing. “It's perfect.”

I know I left a reply on your My Chemical Romance forum but I
couldn't help myself. This is so damn good it gets not one but
two sparkling reviews from me. Two thumbs way way waaay up!
Seriously though, have you considered ever publishing this?
Maybe self publishing? I know it would be right at home on my
Kindle. :-D I seriously can't wait for more and I've yet to find
an appropriate gif to describe my feels.
