Time Echoes Upon The Winds of Bleaklow

I wasn't sure as to where to post this, I haven't worked out if
it's a ficlet or a more lengthy story just yet. I do apologize.
This is the result of many readings and rereadings of Bronte's
Wuthering Heights and many a Stephen King novel and having dear
Rob as a muse. ;) I do hope you enjoy and have a very happy
Halloween! I'm so so sorry about the crap summary.
  HTML http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh628/mcohen3/Uponthewindsofbleaklow_zps643adaa5.jpg
       Themes/Playlist:
       Song Without Words - Mendelssohn
       Foggy Dew - James Findlay
       Kreisleriana, Opus 16 No. 4
       Moonlight Sonata
Tiree Love Song - The Corries
The Seeds of Love - Bella Hardy
       Summary:
Upon the moors of Bleaklow there stands a long deserted manor
house, once an opulent jewel hidden among the hills it's sadly
been plundered by time. Within it's crumbling walls it tells a
tale of a young couple that staked their claim on the world and
were sadly torn apart. The house, still in it's crumbling state
has been transferred to a new set of owners not much unlike
their predecessors. Strange things begin to happen to the couple
as the Hunter's Moon makes it's appearance one fine Autumn
night, this is the night of the thinning of the veil when old is
new again and the lines between realms are blurred. What will
the new day bring for the newest owners of Cainewick Manor?

Happy Halloween! I'm still working on part two to this so never
fear! I hope you All Hallow's Eve is full of good fun and many
       treats. :-D
Cainewick Manor October 1st, 1830 (The Cainewicks: as told by
       Annabel Winifred Cainewick)
We've all heard tales of old, there stands a fair maiden, a
damsel in distress if you will and up rides her prince charming
on his noble white steed. I'd always been fascinated by those
types of fairy stories but my life wasn't one marked with
hardships. I'd been lucky enough to marry for love as we both
came from like stations in life. William Robert Cainewick was
truly my knight in shining armor, tall and lanky, good of nature
and sweet of soul with kind eyes and a merry laugh. I knew there
was no one else in the world I'd rather live my life with but
him. I'd always thought that William and I would be together
until we were old and grey, funny how things work out, isn't it?
Ahh, I'm getting ahead of myself, pardon me.
The day had dawned bright and shining, something almost uncalled
for in this part of the country.
"Roses and violets doth bloom from the ground my lover walks
upon. Her with her hair as dark as raven's wing and skin of
fairest basque. Where do I find my love on this the first day of
       Autumn?"
I felt a blush begin to rise within my cheeks as I opened the
door to the small drawing room off from the parlor of the house
we temporarily were calling home and rewarded my would be poet
with a bright smile and chaste peck upon his cheek.
"Roses and violets you say? Well, I shall have to look behind me
when I take my walks. What, pray tell have you been up today my
       dear sweet William?"
"Oh, not much. Just wandering upon the moors as I am one to do
on days like this. The final shingle and the last piece of
furniture has been delivered to Cainewick just this morning.
I've come to collect you. I've many surprises in store for you
today, Anna so we best not tarry."
Our journey was made post hast as we traveled upon the
moorlands, our carriage carried swiftly by the finest team of
Shire Horses known within in the county. We passed many familiar
walking spots we'd claimed as our own this past year of living
at the temporary home called High Gate House.
"Oh I don't see how this is necessary,William."
I muttered as he gently covered my eyes with his hands as the
carriage came to a grinding halt just outside the front steps of
the place we now called home.
"I know but you only get to see a newly finished house but once
in your life and as I said I have many other surprises in store
for you my dear heart. So, indulge me, please?"
I relented and allowed his to cover my eyes once more but this
time with a long strip of black silk, probably to ensure that I
       didn't peek.
"Watch your step, alright one more step and we're home free."
"Where on Earth are you taking me, William? I feel as though
       I've walked two country miles...oh we're stopping."
"Welcome home to Cainewick my dear."
My eyes were officially uncovered and there at the bottom of the
immense stone steps we stood both looking up at the opulent
jewel that we both now called home. An immense stone manor house
complete with coach house and fountain and front flower beds and
       stained glass windows.
"Good heavens, William are you sure this is ours?"
"Indeed, Anna. I've many more things to show you."
As we made our way around the house the more my heart swelled
with joy. This was finally the place we were going to call home.
The music room, completely furnished was ours, as were all
twelve bedrooms, two parlors, the solarium, kitchen, and my
favorite place on the entire estate, the gardens with it's two
fountains and various walking paths that I was sure we would
       make great use of.
"I fear I'm still in shock over the size of this place,
       William."
I said as we walked along the graveled paths only to find
William gone from me. Panic started to sink as I had no idea
       which way was which.
"William Robert Cainewick where on Earth are you?!"
I called as I scurried up and down the paths failing to find my
       love.
       "In the garden, dear heart."
"But where? Have I taken a wrong turn?"
       "No, come closer."
I trusted William completely and took a step closer to what I
       presumed to be a wall.
"What on Earth..William if this is a joke I'm going to be quite
       cross with you."
"Cross with me? Wait until you see it in here my dear."
I heard a heavy click as a small door opened to a smaller garden
off of the main walking paths.
"Here, you have a bit of earth to do with as you see fit. You've
said you always wanted a garden of your own, now you have one my
       dear."
We ambled back toward the front of the house where a small grove
of oaks stood. Out of his coat he withdrew the silver encased
penknife I'd given him last year for our first anniversary, that
same day he'd surprised me with plans for the house. I watched
as he carefully carved our initials within the bark of the tree
and then turned to me with his usual sunny grin.
       "Now, we're home, Anna."
I don't think he ever knew how much I loved that garden, that
house, or him for that matter. Our time together was short you
see, we lived there for only four brief years until the Ague
took my William from me. My fair haired knight in shining armor
was no more as he succumbed to what I believe is now known in
this day and age as Malaria. I followed him not shortly after
the birth of our only child six months later, a son whom was
born too soon and joined his father before I could even give him
a proper name. I don't remember much of my passing, just light
and warmth and then turning away from it as I heard William call
to me from the music room down the hall. Our house, our home and
it's gardens are now sitting in disrepair upon the moorland. So
here we sit, my William and I bound to this house until the
thinning of the Veil when everything is made new again. We've
come close to being together in the land of the living again, so
close we can almost feel it. Perhaps this year will bring
something new? One can only hope.
Present Day October 1st ( The Willetts AKA Maggie and Bob)
"Are you sure we're going the right way? I mean absolutely
sure? I still can't believe we did this as a blind buy. For all
       we know it's mess."
Bob let out a sigh as we seemingly hit every pothole on the road
before reaching over to give my back a reassuring pat.
"I'm sure, Mags. There's something about this place that feels
familiar. Where's your sense of adventure of dear?"
I attempted to fold the map back into it's original form and
utterly failed and ended up making what I looked like the
world's biggest bow tie. I had a feeling that we were getting
close. I'd had this feeling for some time now, right before Bob
told me he'd managed to buy a house in the country "for a right
       steal."
"I think I might have left it back in the old house, I'm sure
the new owners will return it soon enough. Wait, stop! Stop the
       car!"
Poor Bob almost had a heart attack as he slammed on the brakes
just outside a grove of oaks. Somewhere I'd seen those trees
before. Initials. Somewhere on one of those trees there were
initials. Come hell or high water I was going to find them. I
ended up heaving myself out of the car and running a mad sprint
toward the oak grove until I found one of the long forgotten
trees toward the middle edge. I cleared the trunk of it's
clinging ivy and found there a set of initials.
       WRC + AWC
"There you are. Maggie, what is it?"
"Initials, I knew they were here somewhere."
Bob gave me an odd look before wrapping an arm around me before
kissing the top of my head.
"Well, why don't we add to them then?"
Bob hastily added our initials below those of the first owners
and turned to me with a smile.
       "Now, we're home, Mags."
A sudden chill came over me as we walked back toward the house.
Somewhere I'd heard those words before. I brushed it off to
coincidence and thought nothing of it as we moved the various
boxes into the front parlor from the car. Little did I know that
later that evening things would truly start to become even more
strange in the new place we called our home.

you've written it so well :] at first, I was thinking all about
Wuthering Heights! Thank you so much for sharing this one. I
should have read it last night though, I apologise :( I only
wish there was more to it ❤

No worries there! I know how that feels and it's a nightmare,
especially when you want it to be done as soon as possible.
Lately, I've been struggling a great deal with writing so my
Quoth The Raven fic is an old one, though I was supposed to
write something fresh for Halloween. I actually cannot wait for
the update on this piece, you wrote it beautifully :D and thank
you kindly! I hope you are well, too ^^
