Ok, here goes nothing, haha. This one had better appease the
muse! Playlist and clothing details coming soon :)
       Summary:
Old flames torn apart by differing life choices are brought back
together by their best friends one snowy evening in Sheffield.
What happens the sparks fly all over again and it turns into a
full fledged five alarm? Will they last or will it fizzle out
again? What happens when the two match makers find themselves in
a match made in heaven, with each other? Only time can tell.
Theme: "I Wanna Be Your Hero" from the Hysteria album

*Disclaimer* - I own nothing except Maggie, the boys belong to
themselves and their significant others, Lottie was on loan from
the lovely Wolfy. (Thank you my dear!) The situations and themes
expressed in this piece are purely fictional and in no way,
shape or form intended to harm or slander any member of Def
Leppard or the lovely man known as Steve Clark. I would never in
a million years ever do that. Remember, Fiction = made up (even
though we sometimes wish it would happen.) Also, please do not
post my work as your own or on any other sites, if you'd like to
please ask me first. I can assure you that I'm a very easy
person to get on with. :) P.S. Enjoy!
       Sheffield, UK (Mid December)
Steve would be loving this weather, right now.
I muttered to myself as the cold winter winds whipped my hair
free of the knitted cap that held my wild curls in place and my
ears warm as I turned down the street to go home. That was the
third cap I'd lost this week and since given up trying to track
them down. Home these days was the house I once shared with the
man I thought I'd grow old with. A drafty semi detached three
bedroom home in Hillsborough that I now shared with my best
friend and long suffering would be match maker, Lottie. I
hurriedly unlocked the front door and scrambled in with my
various bags, one of which being my writing essentials bag
containing my newest romance novel manuscript that needed heavy
editing. Days like today were when I truly missed Steve the
most, coming home to him huddle on the couch with a sketch pad
or fiddling with one of his guitars. I blinked back tears as I
unwound my scarf and shook the flakes from my hair.
“Thank god you're home! I'd thought you'd gotten lost or
something. Are you up for a night out on the town, Mags?”
Lottie asked as she popped out from the kitchen holding out a
mug of tea to me. I shrugged off my coat and threw my bags on
the ancient settee in the living room and stood there for a
second brooding. Lottie, who was used to my moods looked at me
expectantly and held out the tea again. I felt a tirade coming
on and started pacing back and forth around the coffee table
       shaking my head.
“I don't know, Lottie. Would it kill him to at least drop a line
every now and then? I mean we separated on pretty good terms,
       right?”
It had been two years since Steve and I had split and I hadn't
dated anyone since then. Every year around our anniversary I'd
go off into a tizzy and find him the only thing I could think
about. Given my writing schedule as of late my thoughts of Steve
were popping up more and more thus making me a shell of my
       normal bubbly self.
“Well, you did but...Oh please don't cry, Mags. I'm sure he'll
send a post card or something.”
I flopped down on the settee and sighed rubbing my eyes and
feeling another sob shudder it's way out.
“I don't think I'm ever going to get over him, Lottie. Ever,
I'll end up alone and childless with a bunch of cats or
something. Meanwhile he'll go on to have a brood with some model
       or something.”
Lottie set the now stone cold tea down on the coffee table and
got up and got her coat giving me a look of both pity and
       something I couldn't place.
“Come on, Mags. We're going down to the The New Barrack to have
a drink. You my dear need a night out of this house to let your
       hair down.”
I sniffled on the couch for a second and then thought it over, a
drink did sound quite appealing at the moment. I sighed as I got
my coat and followed Lottie out into the bitter weather that had
claimed Sheffield. Three blocks later we were both shivering
and all but blue as we ran for the warmth of the tavern and
shook off our coats as we sat at the bar.
“Next pay day I'm getting a car, dammit. This whole walking
around everywhere in bitter weather is nuts.”
I muttered as we ordered our drinks and settled in. Lottie
looked at me for a second as she took a sip of her Grasshopper
and reached into her purse and passed me a tissue.
“Your tears are watering down your White Russian, dear.”
I sniffled totally unaware that I was even crying and downed my
drink calling for a second before wiping my eyes.
“I think they're the ones that thawed out, I was crying on the
       way over.”
Lottie gave me a sad little smile as she flagged down the bar
tender again and told him to hurry the drinks. I noticed she was
glancing at the door every few minutes. Given the people that
came in here I didn't think anything of it. Half of the town
knew Lottie based on her work as a painter, she was the one that
did the new mural in the town registry office and always got
compliments on it. Hours went by like minutes and the drinks
started flowing freely, Lottie and I both lost our inhibitions
and had progressed from the sugary drinks we'd started off with
to the slightly harder side of the bar by starting in on Vodka
       and Tonics.
“Do you want to go sit by the window? It's getting a little
       crowded here at the bar.”
I didn't even have time to answer as Lottie pulled me off of my
bar stool and over to the nearby booth and plopped down with my
       back facing the doorway.
“Lottie, what the hell is going on? You keep staring at the door
and now we're moved all the way next to window? Is something
       wrong?”
Lottie grinned as she took a final sip of her drink and then
shook her head. Casually in her oh so subtle Lottie like way she
slid her glass over to me and gave me a puppy dog look.
“I'll love you forever if you go back up to the bar and get me
       another drink, Mags.”
I raised an eyebrow at her and then silently made my way back to
the bar. As I made my way through the crowd I saw, or thought I
saw a few familiar faces in the crowd. I could have have sworn
I'd seen Steve's band mate and buddy Rick Savage but I'd blinked
and he'd all but disappeared into thin air.
“Get a hold of yourself, Maggie. You've just got Steve on the
       brain.”
I thought to myself as I put in an order for another round of
drinks for Lottie and I and waited...and waited. I was nearing
the end of my tether when the bar tender finally slid the
refills towards me and I wandered back to the table only to find
Lottie gone and her place taken up by a familiar blond. I stood
at the edge of the table with my eyes wide and mouth open in
       shock.
“Hello, Mags. A little birdy told me you missed me.”
All the anger I had felt for the last two years melted away as a
fresh torrent of tears welled up in my eyes and I eased myself
into the seat across from Steve. He looked at me for a moment
and then reached across to brush away my tears I swatted his
hands away and then regretted it immediately when I saw the hurt
       look on his face.
“Don't, I'm sorry, Steve. It's just you're gone for two years
and now all of the sudden you're back. I think my mind's been
       blown.”
Steve sat back for a minute and shook his head as he took a sip
of the fresh drinks I'd set down on the table when I'd sat down.
“Ahh, going all out tonight, are you love? I've wanted to call a
million times, believe me, I just thought you never wanted to
speak to me again after we broke it off. I'm sorry, Mags.”
I patted Steve's free hand and smiled at him for the first time
that night reassuring him that things were just fine and that I
       understood.
“So, what brings you back to Sheffield, Steve? Work? Play?
       Both?”
Steve shook his head and set his glass down as he took my hand.
“Nope, you. Well, we wrapped up the tour and we're back
recording in London. Sav got a call from Lottie telling him to
casually stop by the pub and bring me along. Don't tell the
match makers this but I was going to hunt you down regardless.”
I raised an eyebrow that caused Steve to color a bit in the
cheeks and then examine the table. One of the many things I
loved about him was the way he could never hide his feelings, it
       was a trait we shared.
“Hunt me down, eh? What would have done after that, gone all
caveman and hit me over the head to take me back to the cave to
       have your way with me?”
Steve's face colored even deeper as mine took on a rosy tinge
leaving us in a beet red silence for a second. Steve was first
to break the ice as I fidgeted with my bracelets.
“Well, only if you gave me consent of course. Oh, looks like our
match makers are having a good time.”
We looked over at the dark haired duo who at this point were
over in a darkened corner of the bar chatting amongst themselves
and looking like there wasn't a single other soul in the place.
       “Oh how sparks fly..”
“I'll say, so, do you maybe want to get out of here? Go some
place a little more quiet to talk?”
Steve asked hopefully as I smiled and grabbed my coat.
       “I know the perfect place.”
Just before we left we waved good night to Sav and Lottie only
to find them nowhere in sight.
“Where do you suppose they went?”
I asked as huddled closer to Steve as we walked the three blocks
       back to the house.
“Probably back to Sav's place or something. She's in good hands,
       as are you, Miss Mitchell.”
We'd just arrived at the front steps and before I could stop
myself I pinned Steve against the front door and kissed him with
a fire that was two years in the making. I could tell by the way
we he was stammering as I unlocked the door that the night was
going to go out with a bang.

       Oh my :3
I'm not sure where to begin, hehe. I need to point out first
before I forget, that kiss she gives him at the end was so
unexpected! on the reading side, as I am sure he wasn't
expecting it either. I didn't think Maggie would do something
like that! but I can clearly understand why she did. I'd end up
doing just the same I suppose. I love how descriptive you were
of both Maggie and Lottie. You do that really well and it's
almost as though I have known them both a lifetime. Lottie's
sneaky little ways made me smile and I'm pleased that she
managed to get Rick and Steve to turn up out of the blue like
that to cheer up Mags! that's quite beautiful :D
Also, your disclaimer is brilliant! I have now been reminded to
write my own for my Lestat fic (which I will be starting very
soon, I'm so sorry for the wait)

Aww! Bless you my dear! To be honest neither did I, I didn't
know good old Mags had it in her! :D Poor Steve probably nearly
had a heart attack, I too would have done the same thing if I
were in Maggie's shoes. I'm so glad you got that feeling from
dear Mags and Lottie I tried on that bit. I think Lottie
deserves a medal for putting up Maggie to be honest and she's a
crafty one at surprises. I happen to think her and Rick are
quite the pair. Aww, thank you! I tried to be as straight
forward as possible without sounding mean, if you know what I
mean. Woohoo! Lestat fic! No need to apolgise at all! I've got
all the time in the world my dear and I know like all of your
work it's well worth the wait and it's going to be awesome! :D

I would absolutely love to do that to someone one day.. not just
a random person though, that would be weird, haha. I'd love to
see someones reaction to such a bold move like that though.
Maggie was quite brave to do such a thing! and I understand
completely why she did it. Honestly.. if I bumped into my ex
anytime soon, I'd be likely to do just that. Can't say he would
mind much either to be honest. I know what you mean, and there's
nothing to worry about because it sounded perfect and you
included everything you should have. I wouldn't know what to
include really.. but I'll remember that one and know what to
write for my own! haha. And thank you SO much! I will definitely
be posting the first update as soon as possible. It's driving me
       bonkers!

Bless you my dear dear friend! For your never ending kindness
and patience I've taken to posting something for you, I hope you
don't mind. :) Ugh, talk about a week! Still finishing those
damned journal entries for my final presentation (it's tomorrow
and I'm dreading it) I've still adding on to this so there are
plenty more adventures for our lovely match makers/love birds to
go on. :) I do apologise for this one being so short though.
       The Following Morning
“Steve, seriously if you don't knock it off we'll never get out
       of bed.”
I sighed as I settled in next to him for the fourth time that
morning and rested my head on his chest as he traced intricate
patterns across my arms and side with that tiny smile that
       turned me to mush.
“We've got two years to make up for and we've got no place to
go. Unless you want to christen every room in the house like we
did when we moved in that's fine by me.”
I playfully smacked Steve on the arm as I enjoyed the closeness
we shared once again, home finally felt how it was supposed to
feel. The cosmos had aligned and here we were, basking in the
afterglow. Our oh so quiet moment was cut short by the front
door swinging open and a set of clamoring footsteps thudding up
the stairs and into the hall outside our bedroom door.
       “Do ya think it worked?”
“I dunno, they looked quite chummy last night before we
left...twenty quid says they're in there cuddling.”
“Oh you're on, Rick. Wait, what if they're...busy?”
“Lottie my darling dear we're talking about two people that are
so prudish they probably turn the lights off and draw the
       blinds.”
Steve and I exchanged looks and noticed we'd both turned a soft
shade of pink. I wrapped the sheets around myself and opened the
blinds as Steve turned on the bedside lamps and then settled
back into bed together with a shared smile plastered on our
faces. The doorknob turned ever so slowly as the door creaked
open to reveal a rather amused looking Sav and Lottie.
“They've broken our views of them, Sav.”
Lottie said as she pulled a floundering Sav out of the room by
his collar as he stuttered and his eyes bugged.
       “I'll say, I think I need a drink.”
Sav muttered as they both ducked downstairs leaving Steve and I
       to our own devices.
After thirty minutes of laying there contemplating what the day
might hold for the two of us Steve ducked into the master
bathroom for a quick shower and came out with one of the newer
towels from the rack and what I could have sworn was a scowl on
his face. I had to admit that pastel pink certainly brought out
the red in his hair. I'd taken the liberty of throwing myself
into some DIY redecorating around the house when we'd first
broken up, just to get my mind off of him, not to mention the
pain. I could see now that settling on all things pink and sage
green wasn't the way to go after all.
       “I see you've redecorated a bit.”
Steve said almost sourly as he made his way over to the wardrobe
and found the clothes he'd left behind right where they'd always
been, only freshly laundered and actually hung up in the proper
       place.
“I have, I hope you don't mind I kept your clothes for you, I
had a feeling you'd be back so they've been washed every few
       weeks just in case.”
Steve opened his mouth but I cut him off with a slight wave of
       my hand.
“No, I haven't changed detergent or fabric softener so don't
even ask. You smell nice by the way.”
Steve rolled his eyes as he gave me a peck on the cheek before I
ducked into the bathroom. I heard him mutter something about
       smelling like a woman.
“I don't see why you couldn't keep some regular soap in the
bath, I mean Lavender and Vanilla is wonderful but it smells
       better on you, love.”
       “Everyone's a critic, I'll make a note the next time I'm out
       shopping.”
Twenty minutes later I got changed and headed downstairs to
find Sav, Steve, and Lottie crammed into the kitchen peering out
the picture window trying not to oogle the crowd that had
amassed itself right outside. Sav and Steve ducked down as I
poured myself a cup of tea and waited for it to steep.
“What's going on? Don't tell me there's a strike on or
       something...”
Lottie shook her head as she passed me the paper with the
       tiniest hint of a smile.
“It seems we've made the papers all thanks to our dear Leps
       here.”
“Two More Leps Have Ladies.” The headlines glared at me in bold
print, the Sheffield Standard had something akin to “Could cubs
come next as two more Leps are off the market?” Photos of Steve
and I and Lottie and Sav were splashed across the pages. I'd
always hated having my picture taken and even now I couldn't
       stand looking at myself.
“What in the world, they've got us practically married off. Who
the hell told the papers you were here?!”
I asked as I went about buttering a piece of toast as a rather
large rock came hurtling through the window making my blood
       boil.
“Oh now that's just beyond rude! It's not even ten in the
morning and I haven't even had my tea yet!”
I said in utter disgust as I watched the crowd jam themselves
into the tiny little area that I'd once called my patio to try
and get a better look into the house. Lottie and Sav were taking
it in stride as they waved to a few of the friendly ones and
Steve and I just stood there each turning a deep shade of red as
the tiny head row and grassy area that was once our backyard get
torn up and trampled. Steve and I had always taken the greatest
care in tending to the garden and I made a point of always
covering the rose bushes that came with the house every year
before the first frost so they wouldn't go into shock. Lottie
thought I was crazy but so far it worked.
       “There go the rose bushes.”
Steve said as he took a slow sip of his tea and wrapped an arm
around my shoulder as I went about fixing my own tea.
“Did someone seriously just walk off with one of my wind
       chimes?”
I asked with a mixture of shock and wonder. Lottie looked out,
nodded and waved to a few more people as they snapped picture
       after picture.
“We've arrived, Mags. Ever think that you'd be the girlfriend to
       a world famous rock god?”
I turned beet red as I attempted to hide my face into Steve's
shoulder as I shook my head.
“Shh, Lottie, you'll give Steve a complex or something...oh
my...is that the ring you were telling me about, Steve? I dare
say I spy it back on Lottie's hand after all.”
Sav said as he pulled Lottie closer to him, making her grin as
       she settled in against him.
Steve gave them a very self satisfied look and nodded proudly as
he announced that we were officially “back on”.
“Man, two years apart and after one night they're able to
reconcile everything and start back up where they left off.
Sounds like something out a romance novel, doesn't it?”
Sav muttered as he finished his own cup of tea and received a
       playful swat from Lottie.
“I think it's incredibly sweet, Rick. Now, all they have to do
is set a date and they'll be good. I think we should go into the
match making business, these two are living proof.”

It's official; I am full on in love with this story and both its
couples. You write about their relationships beautifully and
I've been sitting here going 'awww' for the most part, haha. I
love how they each know so much about one another.. and picked
up on the bit about the soap! I spotted that you posted a little
rant on Tumblr about people complaining over the soap you buy xD
and figured that's where that one came from. I loved that bit..
poor Steve! there's just so much love floating in the air and
it's wonderful. I can't wait for the next update :D
