Top Five Cruise Movies

Five is the limit and for some it will be hard to narrow it
down, but I'm very interested in the choices.
Also, you must write a brief reason as to why each of them are
on your list.
Vanilla Sky
This one has been named first because it's running through my
head when I'm awake and asleep lately. It took me a while to
fully grasp what was going on, but since realising what it was
about, I've fallen in love with it. Not just the movie, but
every character in it. Each character is an individual in some
weird and wonderful way, and each represent different things in
life, and I love that.
Mission Impossible 2
Despite how everyone feels about the second movie in the series,
I actually adore it. For me, this one was the most entertaining,
had a great cast and a brilliant soundtrack as well. To those
who found the storyline weak, you're very wrong. There's nothing
weak about this one at all, and it definitely deserves its place
on this list.
Interview With The Vampire
Solely because I fell in love with Lestat a very long time ago,
thanks to Cruise. It was he who dragged me into the world of
vampires and immortality, starting obsessions with other
vampires such as Louis, Dracula and Armand. Not only that, but
no one else is capable of portraying the Brat Prince as well as
he did, and for that, this movie is definitely in my top five.
Rain Man
After a rewatch, I remembered exactly why I loved it in the
first place. Though I was a lot younger at the time and didn't
really follow the story all that well, Charlie Babbitt was quite
a character. I also loved Raymond and adore the relationship
between the two of them. Both actors are outstanding in this,
when they are acting together, especially in the most intense of
scenes.
Top Gun
Really should have been the one to put down first, but the list
is no longer in order, hehe. I am including this one for obvious
reasons, it's one of his most famous roles to date. And, it was
the very first Cruise movie I had the pleasure of viewing back
when the Spice Girls were the in thing. So, from that time
period, I remember only Maverick and Baby Spice! haha.

no particlar order here.
C.o.c.k.tail (did I find away around the filter this time?! :D)
C'mon, Tom's juggling bottles and is an adorable bartender for
pete's sake! Besides, only Tom Cruise can say the drink name
Ding-a-Ling and make me blush. Last Barman Poet indeed!

You're very right, each character is very much their own person
but I too fell for Tom's because he just seemed like the type of
person that needed someone there for him, even if he seemed a
teeny tiny smidge self centered in the very beginning.
Top Gun
Every girl needs to have or has had a crush on Maverick once in
her life, mine still carries over each time I watch the movie. I
just can't help myself. I once told my father, who's a hard core
Navy man that I was going to find a man like Maverick. He looked
at me, turned the page of the newspaper he was looking at and
sighed before giving me twenty bucks to go out and buy the dvd
of the movie to replace the vhs version I'd worn out. I was
about nine at the time and his excuse was "Let her dream, not
all Navy Aviation guys are that good looking. Besides, I'm
getting sick of hearing about that Lestat guy."
Interview With The Vampire
First ever Tom Cruise movie, I was about seven and home from
school for winter break. Stuck sick in bed and with access to a
tv. Lestat was the one that grabbed me with his lion's mane of
blond hair and soft yet predatory voice. There was something
about him that made me want to root for him. He was all I talked
about in terms of "dream man" until I discovered Maverick.
Rain Man
This one will always have a special place in my heart due to the
relationship that's coaxed out to the viewer between Charlie and
Ray. I'll admit I wasn't a fan of Charlie's at all during the
first twenty or thirty minutes but as the film progressed it
truly showed what ends he would go to and what he would do for
his big brother and it always makes me shed a tear or two. Deep
down Charlie had a heart of gold.

I love your list too! every movie you mentioned is brilliant and
your reasons are just the same, if not wonderful. I agree with
everything you said about David Aames and Charlie Babbitt. Also,
your comments about Top Gun made me laugh! haha. I can just see
your father saying that. Mine has been saying that lately
actually, because the Cruise phase has come back around and the
last thing he said when I spoke to him was 'oh, not him again'
xD
