Hm, okay, I have absolutely no idea where that title came from.
I had a hard time finding anything appropriate so I had to throw
two words together and it just happened to sound decent. This
new story is based loosely, very loosely, on the Resident Evil
movies so do bear with me as I'm not used to writing about
science fiction stuff. Below is a creation I threw together in
photoshop as I wanted my own coloured virus and anti virus for
this story. I'll try to post a banner tomorrow morning.

I'm glad you like my photoshop effort! haha. I still have quite
a bit to learn cause I'm more or less following guides to create
things like that. I just don't like taking up too much time
trying to get it right myself, only to have it mess up
somewhere. Below, I've grabbed a screencap from the third movie
and adjusted its colour and added a lyric. I didn't want
anything too complicated. My characters are Alice and Carlos :]

Also going to give this story a theme :]

Alice's outfit is important and because I'm rubbish at giving
attire details, I'll post it all below!

Glad you like all of the above :] I had a hard time choosing a

Streisand was also in voting xD I may actually include it at
some point. I'll try to post the first part today :]

Liverpool, home of the infamous Beatles boys was looking worse
for wear as I trudged through the empty streets. Litter had been
scattered along the pavements, as well as the roads. Pools of
blood lay here and there as mice and rats scampered about in
search of leftover or discarded food. The city seemed almost
dead. My mind was screaming out to me that my conclusions were
correct, but I would not allow such morbidity to shine down on
the little bit of existence left.
As I continued my route toward one of the local churches, a
rustling sound across the street had me backing up against a
crumbling wall. With fear gripping my body, I pulled out my
desert eagle and aimed it in the direction I’d heard the sound.
Another rustling sound caught my attention and my arms turned
like lightning to my left. I couldn’t see anything moving in
either area. I shoved my gun back into my cut offs and walked
until I reached the church. It had been almost three years since
my last visit and I hoped the vicar would not be too displeased
upon seeing my face. When I reached the doors, the name above
them, carved into sandstone, put a huge smile on my face.
Spiritual Miracle Community
I recalled the very first time I had walked through these doors.
A pleasant experience that had never parted ways with me slipped
into my mind. A flashback caught me in a trance, but just as it
had begun, it came to an end at the sound of gunfire. Voices,
unfamiliar to me and sounding very authoritative, seeped through
the gaps in the double doors.
Pushing open one of the doors slightly, I squeezed through the
small space so as not to attract unwanted attention. I pulled my
gun from my shorts and kept it close to my side, just in case.
The voices grew louder the further my feet carried me into the
heart of the church. As far as I could tell, these were no
ordinary men. It sounded as though they had a duty to protect
and one of them was yelling about not wanting to be left in this
city to die. The government had been using them for months,
making them believe every last one of them was of importance.
Now, the government cared nothing about the lives of the only
men brave enough to take on the deadly pandemic. I admired them
greatly. Though, the man complaining about the loss of his job
and the thought of being stranded in this abandoned church was
beginning to annoy the hell out of me. It was rare my blood
boiled, but he was making it simmer.
With my gun tucked in my shorts again, I pounced forward and
stood my ground between the two men who looked as though they
were about to swing for each other. One of them raised an
eyebrow, whilst the other merely glared daggers at my feminine
stance.
“Girl, move out of my way!” he yelled.
“What makes you think I would put myself in such a situation,
only to escape it so quickly?” I said, sarcastically.
The man spat at the floor beneath my boots and stormed off with
his tavor firmly in his hands. I scoffed in response to such
rudeness and spun on my heel to face the amused man behind me.
He raised his eyes to mine and smiled handsomely. It took me a
moment to realise he was holding out his hand, for when he had
smiled, my brain turned to mush. He had to cough to gain my full
attention again.
“Quite the little she-devil aren’t you” he said, “What is your
name?”
I smiled at his comment “Alice” I said, “And yours?”
“Carlos” he replied.
We had been holding one another’s hand in the time we had spent
introducing ourselves. I hadn’t noticed we were simply clinging
to each others gloves, until I looked down. Not being one to
blush often, it came as a shock to find my cheeks burning
slightly. Thankfully, he was not paying attention or thinking
the same thoughts as he pulled his hand out of mine.
“I must apologise for how my partner treated you. He has never
known how to treat a lady, such as yourself. That, along with
his struggle to admit we’ve just been left here to die like
everyone else.” he said.
“It’s quite alright. I honestly don’t blame him for feeling so
vulnerable to it all. It does seem incredibly unfair that you
have been left here to fend for yourselves with the lacking
ammunition you guys probably have left. Luckily for you two, I
know somewhere we can stock up. What do you say we go find your
friend?” I said, tossing a wink his way.
Carlos smirked in response and followed my lead through the
darkened halls of the church. I knew my way around here as I
knew the location and cause of every scar on my body. The last
week had been difficult, what with all the walking dead
lingering around every corner and managing somehow to break into
your sealed apartment as you tried to shower. It all became too
much for me. Instead of sticking around, I moved from place to
place everyday, finding somewhere safe to nap for the night
before moving ahead the morning after. It seemed a lot safer.
“Nicholai!” Carlos shouted from by my side.
His partners name was one I adored. It had such a beautiful ring
to it. As we kept walking through the church, our guns stretched
our in front of us to prevent any unwelcome attackers, footsteps
halted us in our tracks. Listening intently, I guessed the sound
was coming from somewhere behind us, unfortunately. I whispered
to Carlos so as not to attract whoever it was. They stopped
after a few minutes. The church once again filling with silence.
Shivers rolled up and down my spine, but we pressed on.
“Jesus!” I heard Carlos shout.
I raced back a few steps and found him clinging to the wall he
was leaning back against. Nicholai was kneeling on the ground
beside him, his shoulders shaking and his laughter echoing off
the walls. I silenced him with my gun to his head, at which he
gulped and raised his hands.
“Unless you have a death-wish and want us all to lose our lives,
shut your mouth” I said through gritted teeth.
Carlos was struggling to hold back his laughter as tears fell
from his eyes. I glanced over at him and gave him a stern look.
He too gulped and raised his hands in defence. My gun flew
between Nicholai and Carlos repeatedly as I spoke to them. It
seemed to me that they knew very little of the situation at
hand. Lord knows it would take a lot of time and effort
explaining it in terms they would understand, so I chose the
easy way to do things. I dragged them both up off the ground and
pulled them along; Carlos on my left and Nicholai on my right.
Both men appeared confused as I spoke about things even they had
never heard about before, but it intrigued them. Question after
question was answered and pretty soon, the look of horror on
both their faces was too much to take. My eyes welled up with
tears.
“Look” I said, sniffling. “I understand this is all very new to
the pair of you and you probably have no idea the Government
were using you and others like you as bait, but you have to
believe every word I’ve told you. In order for the remaining
survivors to get out of this city alive, we need to be prepared
for the worst. I want you to expect the deadliest and most
destructive undead mutations that come to mind, because they
will be out there, and so far we are the only ones alive in this
part of the city.”
“How do you know so much about this?” Nicholai asked.
“That is a question I cannot answer. I don’t even understand it
myself; it’s exhausting. It’s like I have been through all of
this before, thousands of years ago. I feel like I’m meant to be
here, helping people” I said.
Nicholai and Carlos exchanged worried glances, but I did not
see. I walked quickly ahead of them through the church until I
reached the organ. Sitting down in front of it, I lay my fingers
over the keys and played a melody I didn’t even know existed
until now. The two boys had gathered on either side of the stool
beside me and were down on their knees, their heads back a
little and their eyes closed. They were listening and swaying
slightly to the sound I was creating. I allowed my own eyes to
close over as my hands flew over the keys like lightning,
creating music only the Gods knew of.
“That was beautiful” muttered Carlos.
I turned to him and smiled, then turned my attention to Nicholai
as he lay his hand on my shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. He
nodded his head a little, agreeing with his partner. I felt
strangely at ease with the two of them nearby. It was almost a
feeling of contentment. No longer would I be on my own to make
it through the defeated world we were now living in.
“Guys, do you think any of us will get away from here?” I mused,
more so to myself.
Carlos kneeled down before me, in front of my feet. He lay his
hand upon mine and brought my saddened eyes up to meet his. I
hadn’t realised my eyes were pouring with tears, as he wiped
them away with his thumb and unexpectedly pulled me into an
embrace. His scent filled my nose. With my own arms shaking, I
managed to wrap them tightly around him, accepting the fact that
my eyes had not completed their waterfall show. Nicholai rubbed
my back, then he told us he was going to look around for any
signs of unpleasantness or undead mutations walking or crawling
around the church. Carlos continued to hold me against him. He
seemed almost reluctant to let me go, fearing I would crumble to
pieces like the church walls around us.
“I don’t want to die here” I mumbled into his shoulder.
Carlos pulled back, releasing me from his hold. He made sure to
capture my full attention before reciting what sounded like a
very sentimental poem meant for the likes of a loved one.
There is no corner, no darkened place
That your love cannot fill
And if this world starts causing waves
It’s your devotion that makes them still
My eyes let slip another few tears at the beautiful verse he had
spoken. Without thought or reason, I wrapped my arms around his
neck and he lifted me into the air, swinging me around in small
circles. Soft giggles escaped my lips and I felt his lips curl
into a smile against my neck. Our moment was soon interrupted by
Nicholai, unfortunately. Carlos coughed as though nothing had
gone on between us and I simply shrugged my shoulders, looking
off in a random direction, away from his partners prying eyes.
“The place seems pretty clear. Are we hanging out here for the
rest of the day, or are we moving forward?” he asked.
Both men looked to me as though I had all of the answers to
their questions. Whilst this was partially true, I didn’t like
the idea of needing to be the leader of this small group of
three. I racked my brain for the best solution and bit my tongue
when I couldn’t make a decision. Instinctively, I stuck with my
guns and informed them that it was best to keep moving. Thus
far, I had moved from a building a few streets down, so this
church was the next best thing. I explained my strategy to
Carlos and Nicholai and they agreed.
With our minds made up and our plans to be up and on the move
come sunrise, we all settled down on the strong smelling pine
pews to try and get some rest. The pews were not the most
comfortable of makeshift beds, but it was better than sleeping
on the floor and in full view of danger. Snoring woke me a few
hours after I had managed to fall asleep and I cursed inwardly.
I poked my head up from the back of the pew and realised it was
Nicholai; but of course. I would never have imagined it to be Mr
tall, dark and handsome, though I could have been proven wrong.
A loud clatter interrupted my thoughts and my head snapped
toward Nicholai again. A small pebble had landed on his stomach
after hitting the seat he was lying on. I cackled quietly and
glanced over at Carlos, who was now sitting up with a grin
plastered on his face. I couldn’t help but continue to laugh. We
both shared a look of understanding and settled back down again,
sleeping right through the night and into the early hours of the
morning.
Groaning startled me into a sitting position as sunlight hit my
face. I had dug my desert eagle out from its burial in my shorts
and pointed it toward the sound. It was coming from the other
side of the church entrance, which was bolted shut. I sighed in
relief. There was no way those mutated zombies could break
through that door, unless by some unfortunate miracle, they had
sprouted ultimate combat methods overnight, but I doubted it. I
shook myself as I stood to wake up properly. Carlos and Nicholai
were still sleeping soundly. I wanted to leave them be, but I
knew we had to get a move on before the gang of undead actually
did find a way inside the holy building.
“Carlos..” I said, shaking him gently.
He moved, but only to turn his back to me and fall right back
asleep again. It was ass whooping time.
“Carlos!” I said a little more loudly.
This time, too quick for me to steady myself or stop him, he
grabbed my arms and pulled me down until I landed with a thump
on top of him. We lay there, both shocked at what had happened.
A cough, again, disturbed us both as we were slowly leaning
toward one another. I growled as I looked over at Nicholai and
shot him a look that he knew was deadly. He smirked at my
reaction and pulled himself up from the pew he had sprawled out
on.
Nicholai walked over to the pair of us after witnessing me
fighting to stand up properly. He offered his hand and I
reluctantly grabbed it. He then whispered something to Carlos
and they both snickered, taking small glances at me every now
and then. I chose to ignore their childishness and checked I
hadn’t lost anything in the middle of the night. With my back to
them, I couldn’t hear a word they were saying. I smiled,
realising I was obviously a lot more mature than the two of
them. It was strange, after them acting like such grown men only
yesterday.
“Come on then. It’s about time we got going before that lot
outside find a way inside” I said, walking off toward the
furthest side of the church.
The hallway I was walking down was pitch black. The sun had
already begun to rise, but there were no windows surrounding me,
so I couldn’t see much of anything. I was prepared however. With
my gun straight ahead of me, glued between my hands, I aimed it
at every sound.
“Christ! will you watch where you’re pointing that thing, woman”
Nicholai said.
Apparently, I had spun in a full circle and was aiming it at his
head. Had I pulled the trigger, his skull would have shattered.
At the moment, it didn’t sound like such a bad idea.
“Oh my, I’m so sorry, did I frighten you?” I said, mocking him.
I heard Carlos laugh lightly from somewhere behind me. Turning
my head back to look over my shoulder, I caught the amusement in
his eyes. It seemed that he enjoyed my like of tormenting his
annoying partner. Perhaps they weren’t so bad after all; or at
least Carlos wasn’t. It was comforting to know at least one of
these guys was well aware of himself.
“Alice, you really are one of a kind” he cooed.
Both he and Nicholai passed me and had me walking in their
shadows. I didn’t mind, for I now had something less to worry
about. We reached a dead end within ten minutes of walking, guns
pointing in every direction as we went. The men cursed aloud as
they both bumped into the wall ahead of them, grunting from the
pain. It was my turn to laugh now, but their looks startled me.
I brushed off my laughter and pushed them both aside. With my
eyes closed and my hands resting against the brick wall before
me, I told them to step back. They did, a little puzzled. With
great force, force a small looking woman such as myself should
not have, I kicked a gaping hole in the wall. Their faces were a
picture. Nicholai’s mouth was hanging open in pure shock and
Carlos’s eyes were bulging from his head. It looked as though at
any moment, they would burst into flames from the intensity that
was rising.
I stepped forward, examining my work. Smiling to myself, I stuck
my head through the hole to be sure there was nothing dangerous
outside the church. Sure enough, the place looked deserted as it
had done the day before. It was a sorry sight to see. Having
lived here all my life, thinking of the whole city as one big
playground, it broke your heart seeing it so beaten down like
this.
Carlos came forward and stood beside me; very close beside me.
My focus was on the world outside in ruins. I followed Nicholai
with my eyes, gun in my hand at the ready in case anything
jumped out unexpectedly to attack him. A warmth surrounding my
free hand stirred me from my concentration. Carlos was holding
it in his. He gave it a little squeeze and looked at me from the
corner of his eye, a small smile gracing his lips. It was a
smile that comforted me as a lullaby would comfort a baby from
its nightmares and worries. I had to smile back, if only a
little bit, for a little was all I could manage with the way I
felt right now. My home was falling apart. I’d lost contact with
half my family weeks ago. I didn’t even know if they were still
alive out there. I’d spent hours upon hours belittling myself
for moving away from home all those years ago. If only I had
been there with them when this happened, I would know they were
alright.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Carlos said, as we started walking
forward with Nicholai.
“I don’t really think I’m ready to talk about it yet, sorry” I
said.
He nodded his head in understanding, but held my hand tighter. I
smiled a little again at the kind gesture. It was a nice
feeling, having his hand around mine protectively. Nicholai had
made it quite a way ahead of us by now, but he kept turning his
head back now and again to check we were still following. It
looked like he was afraid of being left on his own. Perhaps that
had been his problem yesterday. I had gotten in his way of
continuing a pretty good debate, though from where I stood it
sounded more like an anger management class, with all the curses
flying around.

Oh my lord! I loved this! Your descriptions made me feel like I

Carlos? Just a smidge: :D I loved the song as well! I've looked

Yay!! I'm sooo happy to know that you like this so far. I
struggled horribly right through that first part, but it seemed
to pick up a little here and there. I'm doing my best to add
little bits from the movie and the characters real
personalities, although Alice will seem a lot different. I
didn't want to recreate the movie because that wouldn't be too
creative at all haha. Glad you liked the song :] I first heard
that at the end of the Hitcher movie, so I used it as a title
for a Jackie fic I wrote months ago. It didn't go down very well
though.

“Carlos, do you think he will be alright?” I asked, glancing to
my left to look up at him.
His face twisted into a look of guilt. It was as though he knew
something Nicholai did not know, but had been unable to tell
him. I gave his hand the same squeeze he had given mine before
and smiled encouragingly at him. He returned it and explained
what had gone on.
“Sometime a few weeks ago, Umbrella released a deadly virus into
the open air through one of its laboratory venting systems. It
was of course no mere accident. Their plan is to destroy half of
mankind and make way for a new generation of upgraded humanoids.
Umbrella want a perfect world, or so they said. I knew all about
this before I had been given my mission. I’ve worked for the
corporation for more than seven years. Nicholai has been with us
for no more than a few months. The virus that is spreading
throughout the city will soon spread like wildfire across the
globe. There isn’t anyone that can stop it, unless you have the
anti-virus, which only Umbrella officials know the whereabouts
of.” he said.
His words stung my skin and coursed through to my very core. I
couldn’t believe such a well organised and highly trusted
company could go downhill in such a way. I had a hard time
piecing the bits of the remaining puzzle together. Carlos looked
at me worriedly, but I shook it off as nothing. My eyes burned
with hatred and the look on his face frightened me. He himself
looked absolutely petrified as he looked into my eyes. I closed
them tightly, having forgotten about my abnormal side effect.
Since birth, if ever my anger took over my entire body and made
me shake from head to toe, the pupils of my eyes grew and grew,
until there was no colour present. They grew like cats eyes in
the dark, from small dots to the size of a beach ball.
Carlos took a step away from me. Nicholai had stopped walking
ahead and was now making his way back toward us, confused as to
why his partner was backing away from me. I rubbed my eyes once
and calmed myself down, determined to avoid scaring the hell out
of him as well.
“Is there something wrong?” he asked, now weary of me.
“No, everything is fine” I answered.
I glanced down at the floor and it was then I noticed a red dot
sight hovering over my heart. My head rose slowly and met
Carlos’s eyes. He still appeared frightened, but was also
holding a lot of anger inside him. I knew he thought I was one
of them and absolutely could not be trusted any longer, but boy
was he wrong.
“Carlos, I can explain” I said.
“Explain what?” said Nicholai.
Carlos and I both snapped our heads toward him and he shut up
immediately. I took a step closer to Carlos, his gun still aimed
at my chest. I lay my palm over the muzzle of his tavor and
stared into his eyes, allowing him to see that mine were now
back to normal. The look in his was one of concern and fear, but
he lowered his gun regardless of his emotions. I took a deep
breath and went on with my explanation, not caring if Nicholai
found out about my hidden past. I myself had not known a thing
about it for a good number of years after I had been born.
“Alright” I said, “This is really hard to explain, so it will be
hard for you both to understand. Ever since I was born, my
family treated me as though I was some sort of supreme being,
keeping me protected from absolutely everything, fearing that
anything could bring harm to me. They could wrap me in endless
rolls of cling film and still believe I would be hurt if I went
out alone. This went on for years, from the minute I could walk,
to the day I turned eighteen. Afterwards, I got so fed up with
all the pampering and smothering that I moved away from home.
Not far though, just across the city. I was tired of being
suffocated with every move I made. My mother never mentioned
anything to me until I turned twenty one. She told me that if I
ever injured myself, I would not bleed. If I was ever hit by a
car, stranded at sea or caught in a house fire, it wouldn’t kill
me. I’d come back ten times stronger than I was before. She
never told me why. I did not believe here. All she wanted, she
said, was to keep me from harms way so the other kids my age
wouldn’t make fun of me. My eyes, for as long as I can remember,
have been the Da Vinci display of all my emotions, anger being
the most dominant.”
Carlos and Nicholai both gawked at me when I had finished
speaking. Both opened their mouths to speak, but only loud
breaths came out. I knew it would be difficult for them, or seem
too far fetched to go along with, but it was all I knew about my
condition.
I turned my attention away from them and walked on ahead, my gun
hanging down at my side, looking back at the boys once to hurry
them along. They both lingered close by my side now, their guns
aimed at anything that moved, even a little. I smiled. They had
been listening after all. Now all I had to do was stretch out my
developments. Surely, if one was given such an ungodly gift,
then there must be a way of putting it to good use. As we kept
walking through the empty streets, I focused on my minds eye.
The harder I focused on my sixth sense, the more I was shown.
Memories I had long forgotten popped into my head and I smiled
sadly at them. As my attention was no longer on the present, I
couldn’t see Nicholai or Carlos shooting repeatedly at a flock
of mutated crows hovering above us. When I came to, Carlos’s
raised voice and Nicholai’s cries for help stunned me. I shook
my head violently to rid it of everything I had just been shown
and focused my eyes on the crows that were diving toward the
boys.
My pupils grew and covered the whites of my eyes. Nicholai
looked on through his effort to kill the crows with multiple
smacks of his tavor against their beaks, but they were still
diving downwards. As quick as a light would turn on, fire
erupted and took the lives of the deadly birds. My eyes, now
shining in the light of the sun, sent flames through the growing
flock.
After a great struggle to find all my energy, every last one of
the crows had turned to dust. I looked around, unsteady on my
feet. The city was spinning madly around me and as I tried to
walk forward to see if Carlos and Nicholai were alright, my
knees buckled.
Carlos ran toward me just as I was about to hit the ground. I
landed on my knees, my upper body draped over one of his legs as
he cradled me in his arms. One of his hands reached up to stroke
my hair and the other lay around my waist, holding me tightly.
As I looked up after regaining control over myself, Nicholai was
standing over us with fear in his eyes. I wondered what was
wrong, but when my gaze followed his to the wound on his arm, I
panicked.
Pulling myself up, though I was still fairly weak. I grabbed my
desert eagle and aimed it right at his head. I did not want to
do this, for he was still only young, around my age. Carlos
seemed at least a few years older than the pair of us.
As I held the gun toward him, my eyes welled up with tears. This
wasn’t going to be easy, but he was infected and we did not have
the location of the anti virus in order to turn it back. Carlos
stood in front of me, the gun now aimed at his own head. My arm
faltered so I held the gun steady with both hands. Both men, now
gripped with fear, tried to talk their way out of this
predicament. It was no use however. I wasn’t gullible enough to
buy any of it and if we did not kill Nicholai, he would soon try
to kill us.
Carlos walked forward until my gun was pressed smack bang in the
middle of his forehead.
“If you need to kill him, then you need to kill me” he said.
My mouth hung open in shock at his words. Pure loyalty that was,
wanting to die right along with his partner, probably out of
guilt. I had a miniature debate with myself before lowering the
gun to my side. The look in Carlos’s eyes allowed me to
understand that he knew what would happen now that his friend
had been bitten. He knew more than Nicholai; he knew that he
would lose him sooner or later and there was currently no way
out of it.
“Carlos, if we don’t do anything soon, he will turn on us both”
I said, quietly.
Nicholai had heard me. It seemed he had known all about the
virus, but not what it could do to those who were infected with
it. He paced in a circle for a few minutes. Both Carlos and
myself showed great concern for his wellbeing.
“Where is the anti-virus? It has to be inside the building
somewhere” I said, hoping Carlos knew.
“It is possible, but I wouldn’t even know where to start
looking” he answered.
“That is of no importance right now. If we get there, we can
split up and find it in no time” I said.
I walked over to Nicholai and wrapped one of his arms over my
shoulder to give him a little support. His legs seemed to be
failing on him. Carlos joined me, only on the other side of
Nicholai, keeping him upright as we all walked through the city.
Thankfully, the daylight made things easier to navigate. Within
five minutes of walking through narrow alleys, we came to a huge
steel door; an umbrella shape on the front of it in red and
white colouring.
“I’m guessing this is it?” I asked.
“Yes” they both said at once.
I smirked and kicked open the door with the same force I had
used earlier. This time, they weren’t all that surprised.
Lifting my gun into the air in front of me, I fumbled around the
wall beside the door for a light. It didn’t work, much to our
displeasure. Nicholai searched around in his pockets and pulled
out a very small but powerful torch. Smiling, I patted him on
the back gently and we followed his lead. He seemed to be
walking quite well on his own now. I began to wonder just how
long it would for the virus to take over his system, because
when it did, we wouldn’t have long to fire. When mutations
absorb and use up all of the energy inside the human body, their
strength heightens to vast levels.
Nicholai stopped in his tracks momentarily. His head twisted
from one side to the other and snapped around fully to stare at
us. I shrieked in horror and aimed my gun at his forehead,
determined to protect myself and Carlos. Unfortunately, Carlos,
being the daft bugger he was, jumped in front of me and started
punching Nicholai in an attempt to knock him out so we would
have chance to run and hide.
“Why can’t you just shoot him!” I screamed at Carlos.
He gave one final blow to Nicholai’s chin and sent him flying
backwards, landing hard against one of the walls. It seemed to
knock him out completely. I noticed blood pouring from his head
and realised I had gotten my way at last. Carlos looked worse
for wear as his hands hung loosely at his sides. His shoulders
began to shake and soft whimpers escapes his lips. I felt awful
for being so hard on him, especially as Nicholai was most likely
under his care since he had joined. Still, Carlos had to
understand that killing off those infected was necessary in
order to avoid being infected yourself.
I grabbed his arm gently to gain his attention. He snapped his
head around and glared at me, his eyes filled with hatred at
what he had just done. I looked down in despair, afraid that he
would not like my words.
“Carlos, it was for the best. I know you loved him, but there
wasn’t anything you could have done to help him, it was too
late.” I said.
Carlos pulled his arm out of my grasp and walked forward through
the narrow hallway, his gun in front of him, darting off in
every direction. I knew he was upset and probably would be for a
while, but I couldn’t allow him to leave himself vulnerable,
especially now that we were this close.

I hate writing short stories cause I think I'm letting people
down :/ but this is the last part now.
--------------------------------------------------------
“Carlos, please don’t be like that” I said, running a little to
catch up with him.
He stood still for a moment, then he turned to face me, looking
me straight in the eyes. My breath caught in my throat as his
pools of chocolate captured my tropical ones. He opened his
mouth to say something, but the firing of my gun cut him off. A
corpse had come to life behind him and almost, before I spotted
it, managed to bite into his shoulder. I was thankful I had
pulled my eyes away from his in time.
“Thank you” he whispered.
His eyes landed on mine again and I walked toward him, in some
sort of trance. As I reached him, he lowered his gun to his side
and held out his hand. I took it, smiling up at him. The last
few minutes had been tragic, but he managed a smile himself,
though it did not fully reach his eyes. I frowned a little.
“Do not worry about me, Alice” he said, squeezing my hand
slightly and letting it go again.
I looked down at my hand and noticed the blood covering my
fingers. Gasping, I cleaned it all off using my mesh top and
found that the wound was not on me. My head shot up to ask
Carlos if he had hurt himself, but he was already walking deeper
into the building, his gun pointing in every direction he heard
an unfamiliar sound. I admired his courage, but if he too had
been injured by one of those mutated zombies, we didn’t have
much longer to find that virus, and it would be absolutely
horrible if I had to end his life. I didn’t think I could do it.
Though we had known each other a very short amount of time,
there was something about him that had me believing I couldn’t
let him go; I just couldn’t lose him.
“Carlos, slow down!” I shouted, racing to catch up.
“Sorry..” he said from somewhere in the distance.
It seemed he had rounded a corner by the time I got there. As I
turned the corner also, the lights flickered on around us and my
heart started to thump against my chest. It was unbearable. I
lay my hand over it and breathed deeply to calm my nerves.
Carlos appeared beside me, laying a hand on my shoulder to see
if I was alright. He was also laughing lightly to himself, at
which I simply growled.
“Carlos, your arm..” I said, breathlessly.
He frowned and turned his back on me. We walked through a small
tunnel-like area and found a load of cabinets ahead of us. It
looked almost like the lockers in a gymnasium.
“We should find them in here, I hope” I muttered.
“Better get started then” he replied.
We spent over half an hour looking through ever cabinet we could
get into. They were all unlocked, which I found unusual, but I
didn’t question it. After what felt like forever, my arms gave
up on me. I had been standing on stools in order to reach into
each cabinet, whereas Carlos was tall enough to stretch his arms
up to have a feel around for anything important.
“I’ve got something!” I said, pulling it down from the back of
the everlasting compartment it had been placed into.
I turned around to face Carlos with two bottles and a needle in
my hands. His face looked deathly pale, and his skin looked
incredibly dry. The wound on his arm was still bleeding, rather
rapidly. I jumped down off the stool and rushed over to his side
as he collapsed against the wall, sliding down until he reached
the floor. I perched myself in front of him and filled the
needle with enough of the anti-virus to cure him. All the while
I was praying quietly that this would work. I really couldn’t
stand the thought of losing him, but I didn’t know why he was of
such importance to me.
“Carlos, open your eyes” I said firmly.
He tried to, though they only ended up half open. I tapped the
needle twice and grabbed his arm. With one push, the needle
punctured the skin of his forearm and he winced in pain. As I
raised my head to look at him, I saw his eyes had turned grey
and were slowly darkening.
“No!” I shouted, frustrated with everything.
I sobbed like a child as I filled his veins with the last of the
liquid in the needle. His head fell back against the wall and
his breathing became uneasy. I watched his arm intently. A small
bump was moving up and down, surrounding the wound. It was
amazing; the skin was sewing itself back together again. As I
looked on with my mouth half open in surprise, Carlos’s eyes
fluttered closed. He appeared almost dead, not moving or
breathing as far as I could tell. I just didn’t understand it.
He’d had the anti-virus but it seemed to do nothing for him at
all.
“Alice..” he said, with difficulty.
I had hung my head low as tears poured down my face. I fell
forward and landed hard against his chest, clinging to it
tightly with my fingers as though it would bring him back. Then,
the sound of his voice in my ear jolted me back to reality. He
lifted my chin with his weak hand and gave his best smile. I
smiled back through my slowing river of tears and embraced him,
holding him close enough to feel his heart beating against my
own.
“Did you think you would lose me that easily?” he said, laughing
softly.
I sniffled and laughed right along with him. His arms managed to
wrap themselves around my waist and I took that as an
opportunity to try and lift him up. With a little struggle, I
managed to get him on his feet again, though he was still a
little wobbly. That was to be expected after all the chemicals
he had in his body, both fighting for dominance.
“I’m so glad you’re alright” I said, looking up at him.
“Me too” he replied, looking back down at me.
In the space of five seconds, almost as though we were both
thinking the exact same thing, our lips connected in a
passionate kiss. It was somewhat bruising, but anything less
would have left me disappointed. I sighed audibly into his mouth
when he parted my lips with his tongue and dove inside.
Our kiss lasted a long time, a lot longer than I could have
imagined. When we parted, my breath caught in my throat at the
sight of him. His face, his skin and his eyes had all returned
to normal. It was as though I was looking at a newborn baby, he
looked that delicate and surreal. I reached my hand up and lay
my palm on his cheek. I watched in pure happiness as he closed
his eyes over and leaned into my hand, enjoying the warmth and
feel of it against his growing stubble.
“Alice, where do we go from here?” he asked, opening his eyes.
Carlos lay his own hand over mine and brought it to his lips,
kissing my fingertips softly.
“Well, I have people I need to find. Then, maybe we could travel
to Alaska where the infection ceases to exist, together.” I
said, hoping he would grab the hint as it flew at him.
His smile indicated he was following what I was saying. I beamed
up at him and flung my arms around his neck, and as before, he
swung us around in a small circle. Our giggles echoed through
the room in which we stood. The lights flickered again,
frightening me, but they did not go out. When Carlos placed me
back on the ground again, I grabbed one of his hands with both
of mine and told him we should probably get going in case
anything else out of the ordinary sneaks up on us. He agreed,
gripped my hands tightly and led us back toward the entrance of
Umbrella.
“Do you think we will make it to Alaska alive?” I asked him,
hoping he could comfort me.
“You found the anti-virus, which is all we’re going to need.
Apart from our weapons of course, and your magical musical
traits, along with those combat skills. By the way, I don’t
think I have ever seen anyone do such things before, it’s quite
intriguing. You’re better than me” he said, smirking.
I giggled and punched his arm playfully, at which he mocked
being in great pain. I had panicked for a moment before I
noticed the look in his eyes. Being the stubborn woman I always
have been, I pulled away from his hand and walked a few feet
away from him with my arms folded, pouting like a child. Carlos
roared with laughter at my sudden change in attitude and ran
over to my side. He lifted me into a fireman’s hold and carried
me the rest of the way, listening to my complaints to be let
down every five minutes. It was not the most comfortable of
positions to be in, but he was too strong and determined to
simply let me go.
“Alice, will you give up already? I’m not putting you down” he
said, sighing.
I groaned and quit my attack on his back when he said that. I’d
also been trying to lift his shirt right up, exposing his bare
back to cool air. He fidgeted a lot when I did this, but said
nothing to stop me. It was obvious I wasn’t going to get my own
way this time.
He walked for miles and miles, me slumped over his shoulder like
a huge teddy bear he’d won at a festival of some sort. It amused
him, but it did not amuse me. After a few hours of hanging
there, I found that I could just go to sleep, now that I was
used to the pain his shoulder was bringing to my stomach. My
futile attempts at using that as a reason to be let down didn’t
do anything for me, he still refused.
I snuggled my head into his arm and caught him smiling adoringly
at me. I smiled back, and as the sun began to lower in the sky,
I fell into a rather delightful slumber.
