---------------------------------------------------------
The sound of dripping water stirred me from my dreamless
slumber. With my eyes half open, I took in my surroundings. Fear
gripped my body as a knife would capture its victim in a fierce
struggle for life. I knew not where I was, or what I was doing
here. Another faint sound entered my ears. Gasping, I realised
it was the sound of footsteps. Unaware of any danger that might
be lingering in this dreadful place, I battled to remove the gag
from my mouth and started yelling for help.
A shot blasted from the other side of the door across the room
from where I sat leaning back against a wall. It echoed
throughout the whole building and bounced off the walls. I
jumped right along with the noise. My eyes had closed tightly of
their own freewill, but when I opened them again and saw a
splatter of blood on the glass window of the door, another yell
escaped my mouth.
The door opened, ever so slowly. I turned my head away from
whoever had entered and tried to turn my body right around as
well, but it was no use. Glancing down at my stomach, I noticed
a wound in my side that had been bleeding profusely.
“Do not fear me, woman” said the stranger.
“Why should I not fear you? And what am I doing here? Where am
I?” I asked.
“So many questions, so little time to explain..” he said.
Anger boiled in my veins as water would boil in a kettle. I
lifted my head up to meet the sombre coffee coloured eyes
staring down at me. My thoughts changed almost instantly, for
his eyes were like nothing I had ever seen before. My gaze
travelled down toward his lips and I almost gasped at how plump
they were, especially his lower one. It was too soon to tell of
course, but even with the balaclava shielding everything but his
eyes and mouth, he appeared quite dashing.
The man noticed me watching him, examining every detail I could
find and he smiled. It brought me right back down to earth. I
dropped my head again to look down at the ground beneath me
instead. He crouched down to my level and lifted my chin with
one of his hands. Though reluctant to do so, I looked at his
handsome face again.
“Do you really not know why you are here?” he said.
“No, I don’t” I replied.
When I tried to tear my face out of his hold, he only gripped my
chin tighter. I winced at the pain and something in his eyes
flickered. He almost looked guilty for a moment there. I kept my
eyes on him for a while longer, as he held my chin in his hand.
It seemed he was checking my face for something. When his other
hand reached out to stroke my hair, I flinched.
“You will soon enough” he said, pulling both of his hands away.
I fell back gently against the wall behind me, relief washing
over me. Had I not known any better, I would have thought he
would try something. As he walked out of the room, taking one
last look at me before closing the door, I sighed. If he did not
seem so dangerous, I would have tried to flirt my way out of
this problematic situation.
I did not know how long he had left me alone in that room, but I
knew it must have been at least a few hours before he came back
again. In his hands he carried a bowl and a glass of water. I
assumed the bowl contained some form of food, but from where I
sat it did not smell too wonderful.
“Here, you will eat this to get your strength back” he said,
handing over the bowl.
“That’s disgusting” I said, pushing the bowl away.
“It may be a little out of date, but it will not kill you” he
said, growing angry.
My eyes fixated themselves on his and he watched with amusement
as I pulled ugly faces at the taste. I could not even work out
what it was, it tasted so bad. Once I had eaten enough, he
handed me my water and told me only to sip it. Confused, I asked
him why I should be so careful.
“Why? what have you done to me?” I asked, through gritted teeth.
He smirked in response, “I have done nothing to you. That wound
on your stomach was your futile attempt to kill yourself a few
days ago. You refused to come with us, so we used force. I found
you trying to slice yourself until you bled to death.”
A little taken back by this information, I tilted my head to one
side and downed the glass of water as quick as lightening would
strike an umbrella. My face twisted into what could only be
described as pure agony as a burning sensation ignited my wound.
I looked up at the man with tears in my eyes. I hadn’t thought
water would be so painful. Or, that it would be connected in any
way with the wound on my stomach.
“I did warn you” he said, standing and heading toward the door.
“Wait!” I said.
He turned his attention to me, his hand pulling away from the
doorknob as he did so. As I looked into his eyes, I saw regret.
There was obviously something or someone who was part of this
scheme that he wasn’t fond of. Or, he simply knew what his job
involved, would soon have to kill me and did not wish to do so.
I scoffed, for he had easily murdered a poor man earlier. His
blood was still on the door.
He knew what I was looking at, “You should not fear me, I will
not harm you. What is it that you want?” he said.
“To know why I am here. I’d also like a few bandages and some
antiseptic” I replied.
“As I said before, you will know soon enough.” he said, “I shall
bring you something to clean your wound”
I nodded my head in thanks, beginning to think a little more
highly of this man. Though he and a few others had brought me
here unwillingly and for reasons I did not know, he seemed
almost gentle. I smiled slightly at the thought of him being a
kind kidnapper, it was quite amusing.
He left me again for another hour or so, though I had made it
quite clear I wanted those bandages soon. The door opened and he
walked up to me with a bag in one hand. I had grown tired in the
time it had taken him to return, probably from the blood I was
still losing. As soon as he reached me and crouched down in
front of me again, I scowled horribly at him. His expression did
not change. He simply looked at me as though he had done nothing
wrong.
“Why did it take you so long?” I said.
“I had to run to the store to get these things for you, woman”
he said, coldly.
“Don’t call me woman! I have a name” I said, turning away from
him.
He pulled me back around so I was facing him and glared at me.
His hands moved down to my top and he lifted it slightly,
inspecting the wound. My hands gripped his as he prodded around
the injury, though gently so he wouldn’t cause too much pain. I
was thankful he knew how to treat someone who was in pain. I
would never have believed it before meeting him. Again, he took
notice of the fact that I was watching him.
“What is wrong?” he asked.
“Nothing” I said, turning my attention elsewhere.
He, without me even asking, got to work on cleaning and
bandaging my wound for me. I was ever so grateful. I would not
have been able to concentrate if I’d had to do it myself.
“Thank you” I said quietly, once he had finished.
“No problem” he said, “Just do me a favour, don’t try to injure
yourself again. I can’t keep running out while I’m holding you
here.”
My eyes sparkled as he looked at me. They were glancing down at
his mouth as he spoke, that plump lower lip of his. His gaze
followed mine and his eyebrows furrowed a little. I quickly
changed the subject for fear of embarrassing both him and
myself.
“Please, what I am doing here? What do you want from me?” I
said.
“Nothing that you cannot give me” he answered.
Though no expression crossed his face as he spoke, horrible
thoughts crossed mine. I was starting to realise all he wanted
was to sleep with me. I wondered why the hell anyone would go
through so much trouble just to snag a bit. It was sickening. I
was about to yell at him for thinking he’d get away with this,
when another man walked through the door.
“Bobby, watch her for me while I go grab a coffee” he said to
the new stranger.
The man, who I had learnt was named Bobby, did as he was told
without question. He stood on the opposite side of the room and
watched me intently. The look on his face made me feel nauseous.
After a few minutes I gave up trying to be nice. I snapped my
head up to glare at him and spoke up bravely.
“Get your filthy eyes off of me you sick fuck!” I shouted.
Before I could blink or object, he stood over me and pulled me
up to stand. As soon as I was standing, he backed me up against
the wall with such force, my freshly bandaged wound ached. I
groaned in agony as he had me pinned between himself and the
crumbling wall behind me. Though I tried desperately to fight
him off, he was too strong given my current weakness. By no
means was he as tall as the man who had gone to grab a coffee,
but he just wasn’t giving up on what he wanted.
With one final attempt, I elbowed him in the face, causing his
lip to pour with blood. He looked back at me after wiping the
blood away and glared daggers. I screeched and tried to run by
him, but he grabbed my leg as I went and we both toppled onto
the ground. The impact had me rolling from side to side, holding
my hand over my stomach. He would pay for that one. When I took
a look at the wound, it had begun to bleed through the bandage.
I growled in annoyance.
The man managed to crawl up on top of me and tried, with
lightning speed, to lift my skirt up over my thighs so he could
have his way. No matter how hard I kicked at him with my legs
and punched at him with my fists, he did not give up.
I closed my eyes over briefly as tears filled them to the brim.
Then, almost as quickly as it was happening, it stopped. The man
was no longer on top of me. The sound of angry voices entered my
ears and my eyes shot open to find out what was going on. Mr
coffee eyes had returned. He had Bobby pressed against a wall on
the far side of the room and a gun in one hand, pointing at the
back of his head.
“Look away!” he shouted.
I did so, immediately. The second I turned my head away and held
my hands tightly over my ears, the gunshot bounced of the walls.
I sat there with my knees pulled up to my chest, my hands still
over my ears, rocking back and forth. My eyes were now pouring
with tears and I couldn’t control my breathing.
“What is your name? you did not tell me” he asked, laying one
hand on my shoulder.
“Gracie..” I answered, wiping away my tears, “what is yours?”
“Alek” he said.
Alek stood up and looked down at me with concern. I looked back
up at him and suddenly winced at the pain in my stomach again.
He followed my gaze and noticed my hand holding the wound.
Carefully, he crouched down beside me and removed my hand from
its place. I heard him gasp in horror, but before I could say
anything, he was out the room and back in again with more
medical items. He was carrying a bundle of them, his arms full
as though he was holding a baby. I smiled at the sight, but he
did not seem to care or notice. He crouched down beside me again
and asked me to lean back, so I did.
When I was laying flat on my back, he lifted my shirt and pulled
off the bandage he had placed over my wound not so long ago. It
seemed to last forever, but after a good half hour, he had
perfected his practice. I was no longer feeling any pain, even
in a dull form. I looked over to my left and admired his work.
“Thank you” I muttered.
This time, instead of ignoring me or turning to leave, he
smiled. It was a real smile, nothing forced. That sight alone
was enough to calm me down. My cheeks had turned a rosy pink
without me noticing, but he did, though he didn’t comment. His
smile lingered a while longer before he helped me sit up. Then,
before we could delve into any type of conversation, he left the
room.

---------------------------------------------------------
I waited patiently for another hour. Hearing muffled voices on
the other side of the door, I crawled over to it slowly. My
stomach ached a little as I went, but it wasn’t anything I
couldn’t handle. Just as I reached my hand up to grab the
handle, someone pushed the door open. A policeman stood before
me, his mouth agape at the sight of my bloody shirt. He turned
on his heel to face Alek, who was standing directly behind him,
a gun pointed at his head. The policeman tried to dig his own
gun from his belt, but Alek was much to quick for him. Two shots
were fired. I covered my ears and buried my face in my knees as
I had done earlier.
“What makes you think I would have kept him alive? he saw you”
Alek said.
It was then that I noticed his face was no longer covered. His
hair, short and silver, seemed to flop down just over his ears.
Now that I could see his whole face, my own mouth hung open
slightly. He noticed, cursing himself for allowing me to see
what he really looked like. He scampered around outside the door
for a moment or two and came back in wearing the balaclava.
“Don’t you think it’s a little late for that now, Alek?” I said.
With three big strides, he was hovering over me. He lifted his
hand to his head and pulled the material off, revealing his face
to me again. I was taken back by his sudden change of mood.
“What will you do now, Gracie” he said, “Don’t you know I have
to kill you after all this is over, now that you have seen my
face?.”
I dropped my head as my eyes began to fill with tears all over
again, “I’m sorry, please, you don’t have to kill me” I begged.
Alek, looking as though he was having an inward debate, stood
from his crouched position and paced across the floor in front
of me. He shook his head angrily and came down to my level
again. Raising one of hands up, he held it across my neck and
lifted my face up to the sunlight shining through the window. He
was getting a closer look at my face, though I didn’t know why.
His fingers buried themselves a little into my neck and I knew a
bruise would soon form there.
I lunged my hands up from by my sides and clung to his wrist.
Gasping for my breath as his grip seemed to tighten, I tried to
choke out my words.
“Please, you’re hurting me” I said.
“What makes you think that I care?” he replied.
His grip loosened a little and I broke free of his hand after
shoving it away from my neck. I rubbed the spot where he had
gripped me so hard and felt a searing pain as I did so. I knew
he had either bruised or broken something, though if it was the
latter, the pain would feel much worse.
“I may not know you well, Alek, but I can see somewhere in those
eyes of yours that you do” I said.
I turned my head away and shuffled further from where he was,
determined to keep a fair distance between the two of us. No
longer feeling any kindness or sympathy toward him, I stayed
silent when he told me to come back, for he had something to
show me. I didn’t respond. I did not move a muscle either. Alek
stood from where he was crouching and walked over to me. He lay
his hand on my shoulder and gave it a light squeeze, surprising
me.
“Understand this, Gracie. Your wellbeing is of no matter to me.
If push came to shove, I would kill you without thinking twice
about it. Do not underestimate me.” he said.
A stray tear slipped down my cheek, “Then, what is it you want
with me? why can’t we get it over with now?” I said.
“Just over a year ago, you published your second non fiction
work with a company called Harper Collins. Your book became
incredibly popular. Most people turned to it for guidance and
realism. Others, however you may see them, did not. Others, like
myself, found nothing but slander and belittling in that book.”
he said, bitterly.
“You mean, all of this is over pages in a book written by
someone you don’t even know, that you did not like?” I spat,
“Who on earth do you think you are to even think you will get
away with this. There wasn’t anything as such in that book
anyway, you have it all wrong.” I replied.
“It may have escaped your attention, Gracie, so let me fill you
in on exactly what was wrong with your book” he said, pulling me
up and pressing me against the wall.
I frowned as he looked down on me, his eyes filled with delight
at my torment. Before he could say anything however, I reached
my knee up and tried, without success, to seriously injure the
bulge growing through his black pants. He gripped my leg in
midair and forcefully pushed himself against me, still holding
my leg to one side. My anger multiplied in that moment. Though I
tried to free myself, he wouldn’t allow me to move.
“Get away from me!” I yelled.
His other hand came up and covered my mouth, “Not until you
behave” he said.
He seemed so much calmer than I was, considering I’d almost hurt
him. His hand slowly came away from my mouth. I stared up at
him, my eyes burning with hate. He backed off, dropping my leg
down from his side as he did so.
“Now, will you behave and let me explain things to you?” he
asked.
“Yes..” I mumbled.
“Good. Now, your book was based loosely on the scheming
behaviour of Scientologists, is that correct?” he asked.
I nodded my head in response, not wishing to annoy him.
“I, like many others, are strong believers in the work of these
scientologists. As you can imagine, your book would have caused
uproar among many, myself included. The reason I brought you
here was for you to apologise. Also, if you would be so kind, I
want you to pull your book from the shelves.” he said.
My mouth dropped at his words. He wanted me to just call up my
publishers and request the removal of my book from every shelf
in the states, most likely all over the world. I couldn’t
believe what he wanted me to do, for I also knew now that I
wouldn’t survive this either way. It just wasn’t worth the
trouble. Raising my head, I met his eyes.
Alek leaned in closer to me as I opened my mouth to speak.
“If you think that I am going to just call up and ask for my
books to be removed from the public eye then you have another
thing coming mister. Do you have any idea how long it took me to
write all of those pages? Do you have any idea how many people
did like my book and appreciate such dedication?” I said.
Alek took a step toward me, glaring down at me as he walked. It
took only two steps for him to reach me, but when he did, he
would have wished he hadn’t. My knee came up so quickly this
time that his reflexes weren’t enough to save him. Right on
target, he gripped his manhood with both hands and fell to the
floor, sobbing like a newborn baby. It was almost amusing to
see; a grown man crying.
I checked on my wound seeing as I had raised my leg so high to
kick him, but it was still wrapped neatly and didn’t seem to be
bleeding through the bandage. Looking down at Alek as he
continued to twist in pain, I felt no guilt whatsoever.
Just as I stepped over his body to race out the door, though I
had no idea where it would lead, his hand grabbed my ankle and
sent me flying to the ground. I cursed loudly and shouted all
kinds of horrible names at him, but he didn’t respond. I checked
my wound again, but it was still intact. Thankful for at least
something, I lay my head back on the ground and looked up
momentarily at the old building. I’d only just realised it was
an abandoned asylum and not a very nice one at that. Even though
the walls and ceiling had been left unattended for what appeared
to be centuries, it didn’t look as though it had ever been too
nice a place for people to be. I felt for those who must have
spend their lives in here.
“Alek, where are we?” I asked.
He did not answer. I was puzzled, but when I lifted my head to
see if he was alright, he was laying over me, a little too close
for comfort. Though I tried to push him away by laying my hands
on his chest, he was too strong to move. He grinned down at me,
but I didn’t know whether to grin back or be very afraid. The
look he was giving me was confusing. He either wanted to kill me
or he wanted to kiss me. I wanted neither, though if it came
down to it, I would much rather live.
“This is a very old prison, or asylum if you will. It was built
thousands of centuries ago, yet it is still standing. It might
need a few adjustments here and there, but I’ll have it looking
just fine soon.” he said.
I furrowed my brows, “Are you planning on living here? are you
completely out of your mind? this place is falling apart, you’ll
have to get it rebuilt.” I told him.
Alek stared down at me, intrigued by my outburst. He didn’t seem
to care anymore about the injury I had tried to bestow upon him,
or at least I thought he didn’t, for he hadn’t mentioned it. My
eyes travelled from his face, down to his neck and then his
shirt. He was wearing a white vest and tight black pants. His
vest had not been visible earlier, for he had been wearing a
tight black sweater over it. His gaze followed mine, but no
expression crossed his features.
Instead, as he was propped up over me by his elbows, he moved
his hand toward my face. I did not flinch as I had done last
time and he lay his thumb on my lips, brushing them gently.
Though this man had a hard exterior and looked as though he
would kill you at the drop of a hat, his kindness shone through
when he let his guard down.
“Alek, what’s wrong?” I managed to ask, very aware of the look
in his eyes.
“You remind me of an old friend. She was killed a few years ago,
by one of your fans” he said.
Guilt shot through my body at his words. The reasons he had
given me earlier for wanting rid of my book were false. Surely
they were. He couldn’t hold so many negative opinions on just
one book that had barely enough pages to be considered a novel.
It was merely an opinionated idealistic take on what scientology
is all about, as well as featuring insiders information on what
the public did not know.
“Alek, I..” I said, reaching my hand up and cupping his face.
He said nothing after that. He just lay over me, staring at me
for what felt like eternity. Then, as if a light had gone off
inside of him and told him to change his ways, he lay his head
down on my chest and fell asleep. My heart was thumping loudly,
indicating that this was no ordinary situation. I knew it was
problematic, but I couldn’t just take advantage of this poor
soul. An hour had passed and the sun that had been shining
through the window was fading. I closed my eyes, seeing as I
could not move toward the bed he had made for me, and fell
asleep myself. My bravery had me lay one hand on his back and
the other in his hair, though I knew not if he would be best
pleased when he woke up.
I panicked as I tried to drift off to sleep, hoping he was not
merely having a vulnerable moment and would actually start
attacking me again when he woke up. I woke up sometime later,
the sky outside was pitch black and the weight of another body
on mine startled me, until I remembered what had happened.
“Alek” I said, shaking him gently.
He stirred a little, but didn’t open his eyes. I shook a little
more roughly and he snapped his head up, gun in hand and ready
to attack. I rose my hands up to my head as I looked at him with
wide eyes. A small grin spread across his face as he saw he had
frightened me, but this time I had to grin back at him. He
wasn’t all that bad after all.
“Good morning, Gracie” he said, sleepily.
Even though his reaction had suggested otherwise, he wasn’t all
that aware of what was going on just yet. I wondered whether he
knew he was still laying over me, or he just simply did not
care. I coughed when he closed his eyes over again and hinted
that he should move, as he had been pressing on my stomach all
night and it was quite uncomfortable.

This is utterly wonderful! Now, I must find a copy of this movie
just to see Alek! I dare say you've given me a case of the
goosebumps with this! He seems like a bit of a bugger! Please

Hehe xD I'm glad you like it. It's very different to something I
would normally write, but Alek kept bugging me to write about
him. I struggled quite a bit with this, but it seems to be
flowing okay for the moment. Ahh yes, I tried to keep him in
character as much as possible, but there are things in this
story that aren't in the movie at all. I didn't want to give
anything away xD

This is the last chapter. My apologies :(
-----------------------------------------------------
“Oh” he said, “Sorry”
He moved himself up off my stomach and lay right beside me,
nuzzling my neck as he got closer. My face flushed at what was
happening; he was supposed to be a kidnapper and I wasn’t
supposed to like him. He yawned quietly. One of his hands,
though he thought I had gone back to sleep, was slowly working
its way down the side of my body. I allowed his hand to wander,
waiting for him to notice that I was still very much awake, but
it didn’t seem as though he would. I grabbed his wandering hand
in mine and his head shot up to look me in the eyes.
“Just what do you think you’re doing?” I said, looking at him in
disbelief.
He returned my look, “Just exploring” he answered.
“Just exploring huh” I mused.
His hand travelled along my side once more, but this time I did
not have the strength to stop him. In a way, I think I wanted
him to touch me. No man had ever explored my body like this
before. It would be something new to me and I was desperate,
even if he wasn’t someone I could trust entirely.
He lifted my shirt up a little, exposing both my stomach and the
wound that was slowly healing on the left side of it. Pulling
himself up from beside me, he planted small, soft kisses around
my bellybutton. I felt a swarm of butterflies in the areas his
mouth had been, before he brought his kisses further up,
reaching my chest. He tore open my shirt and a few buttons went
flying across the room. Unwilling, or so I thought, I tried to
stop him, but my energy levels were too low.
“Alek, please, don’t” I said, not sounding very convincing.
Alek stared into my eyes when he had kissed right up to my neck.
He was now laying over me again, propping himself up on his
elbows as he looked at me, his eyes filled with lust. Mine were
no doubt of great resemblance to his when he lowered his face
ever so slowly. Our mouths were a breath apart, so I broke that
distance, grabbed the back of his head and forced his lips
against mine. A little startled by my sudden change in ways, he
growled into my mouth, but it only encouraged me. Not caring
about the pain this would cause my wound, I raised my left leg
and wrapped it tightly around his waist, pulling him down closer
by his vest. With my legs parted and him laying between them, I
was in ecstasy.
He pressed himself teasingly against me, looking down at my
facial expressions with a grin across his face, knowing what he
was doing to me. I gripped the back of his vest between my
fingers and groaned loudly. His mouth found my neck again and
there, he left small but painful bites wherever he could.
“Alek, stop” I breathed through dull moans.
“I don’t think you want that, Gracie” he remarked.
“I said stop!” I shouted, slapping him hard across the face.
His face turned on impact, but he was soon staring down at me
again, only this time his eyes held nothing but pure anger. I
hadn’t wanted to hurt him, for I knew I would only get myself
into trouble, but he had been asking for it. As he glared down
at me and pinned my arms over my head as he had done before, I
knew he would kill me without thinking twice about it this time.
I thought I had gotten away with being murdered when I allowed
him to sleep on me last night, but obviously not. It was clear
now what he did want. I was beginning to think the whole book
thing was just a lie to get me feeling sorry for him.
“Don’t you ever do that to me again” he said, his voice deadly.
His hands held my wrists tightly and he made no notion that
suggested he was going to let them go. It was painful and almost
stopping the blood from flowing freely. My face twisted as I
winced at the tightness, but he just kept glaring at me.
“Please, I’m sorry” I said.
My eyes had begun to water with the pain. I opened them to look
at him and noticed how close he was now, his mouth dangerously
close to mine. I smelt his scent all over me as it emanated off
him. Again, I lifted my head off the floor and our lips
connected in another wonderful kiss. At first, he seemed
reluctant to kiss back, but when I pushed my body up against
his, it all changed.
“Alek, is there any other way I can make up for the pain I have
caused you and your friends, other than pulling my book from
publication?” I asked.
I had parted from his mouth and was now staring up at him
intently. He stared back for a while, then lowered his head a
spoke just above a whisper into my ear, making every word as
clear as day. His voice sent a shiver up my spine, but I would
not allow him to see my reaction.
“There is nothing you can do, Gracie. I want your books
demolished, every last one of them. Lord knows, if things prove
difficult for you, I’ll do it myself” he said.
“But, what if I could give you something in return for allowing
my books to stay in print?” I questioned.
He lifted his head and looked with wonder into my eyes. I
blushed, involuntarily, and this time he noticed. I turned my
face to one side and told him of my ideas, how I would abandon
my career as a writer, or simply avoid writing about such
controversial topics. He listened closely and didn’t interrupt a
word I told him, but no smiles or hints that he approved were
visible.
“Please, Alek. You have no idea what it would look like if I
suddenly requested for my books to be brought down. My fans
would never buy anything from me again, but I don’t suppose that
would matter if I dropped my title as an author” I said, talking
more to myself than him.
“Gracie” he mused, “It is not that I wish for you to be unhappy
or disliked. I just cannot go back on my word, for my friend had
told me of her wish to banish your books and I will make her
wish come true now that she is no longer here”
The pain in his eyes haunted me, right through to my soul. As
much as I wanted to keep my books up and on view, I couldn’t
bear seeing him like this. No one should ever have to deal with
something so awful.
“Alek, for you and your friend, I will do as you ask” I said,
turning my head off to one side.
Tears slipped from my eyes at the thought of losing so many
devoted and encouraging fans, but I knew I had no choice.
Regardless of all that had gone on since my arrival at this
abandoned asylum, Alek had reminded me that if anything became a
problem or I refused to meet his commands, I would pay for it
with my life. I pondered on that thought for a moment, very
aware that he was watching me, but he didn’t say anything. He
didn’t even try to comfort me.
Standing, he held out his hand for me to take and I did. Once he
had pulled me up, he backed me up against the wall, gently. His
lips brushed against mine lightly, teasingly. I did not think I
could take much more of his torment.
I gripped his vest in my hands and forcefully pulled him toward
me, our bodies crashing into one another. I groaned in pain,
having forgotten about my wound. Alek reached his hand up and
lay it carefully over my stomach so as not to press against it
too hard. I smiled up at him and he returned it.
Despite our clear differences and incapabilities, we had found
at least one common goal.
