Thank you very much! I'm glad you are liking this story so much,
it makes me wanna keep writing pages and pages of it :D and I
shall be adding more very soon. I got very angry and upset when
I had Abbas do that :/ haha. I am getting attatched to my
characters now it seems. I don't believe I've ever done that
before and it's a nice feeling, it's allowing me to have
freedom, connect with them and have them write it it their own
way if you will :D thank you again, you've made me smile!

“Stop! stop this at once!” I yelled, running between the two of
       them, protecting Ardeth.
Though I was trying to save him from being hit by his father all
over again, he tried to get rid of me and asked me in a rather
dangerous voice to leave the tent. I really did not want to
leave them both alone together, not after what I’d just
witnessed, and what I had just heard. The most awful of things
you could ever say to your child. I recalled a time when my own
father had spoken those very words to me when I had not done
something he had asked of me.
My father had told me that I was a complete waste of space. I
couldn’t believe my ears when he had shouted those words at me,
and I couldn’t believe my ears that this man whom had been so
sweet to me earlier was now telling his son he was worth nothing
       to these men.
“How dare you hit him! he has done nothing wrong. There are no
laws in your religion that forbid you to be attracted to others
simply because they don’t follow the same God” I barked, a
little too loudly for my liking.
“You insolent little girl, what makes you think you have the
authority to talk to me in such a way” Abbas shouted, making me
       cower.
I shrunk back against Ardeth and he lay a protective hand on my
shoulder, letting me know he would back me up if I needed him
to. I stood my ground once more and proceeded to outsmart and
put shame to his father, knowing everything I was telling him
was the truth, and I believe at some point through my rant he
even became teary eyed. He eventually tipped his head and
signalled to Ardeth that he was leaving. But, not before he
stepped closer to me. Unaware of my bodies reaction, I slumped
back against Ardeth even more as Abbas approached me. I was
shaking like a leaf in a storm, but I stood tall before him.
“Little one, you have changed my mind. You and Ardeth can share
an interest in each other if you so wish” he said.
I beamed like a small child at his words, before he continued.
“Only, if you marry” he added, a hint of wicked humour in his
       eyes.
I opened my mouth to say something and object straight away, but
Ardeth beat me to it. He stood behind me still, clinging to my
arms with his hands as anger seeped through his every word. I
did not wish to be in the middle of them anymore, not with all
this going on, but I couldn’t seem to get away from Ardeth. It
was almost as though he was using me as a shield. Something I
       did not find very amusing.
“Ardeth, what are you doing?” I growled, so only he could hear.
One of his thumbs rubbed my arm in an attempt to calm me down,
and it worked, for all of two minutes, when he raised his voice
       to his father.
“I am sorry that you have such trouble with this father, but it
is not for you to decide what will happen between Shae and
       myself” he said, coldly.
I drew closer to him in fear that his father would snap and try
to hit him again, hurting me in the process. He did not, he
simply frowned angrily at both of us and stormed on out of the
tent. I was stunned to silence. I hadn’t expected such a
reaction from him in the first place, but that was simply
       horrible.
Turning like lightning, I scanned Ardeth’s face and noticed a
small bruise building at the corner of his left eye. I lay my
hand on his cheek and he flinched at the contact. I was more
than a little annoyed with Abbas for harming him, but I knew I
couldn’t do a thing about it.
“Ardeth, I am so sorry. I had no idea that he treated you in
such a way. Please forgive my stupidity for standing in the way
and causing him to anger even further” I said, looking up into
his eyes with tears about to fall from my own.
Ardeth lay his hands gently upon my shoulders and held me still
as he spoke “You should not be apologising for what you did. No
one would have thought about standing up for me like that, I owe
you a lot for taking my side” he said.
“But, he hurt you” I said quietly, reaching my hand up to brush
it gently across the purple bruise that was only growing deeper
       in colour.
He flinched again, but he did not smack my hand away as I
thought he might. He looked down at me with such caring eyes
that I didn’t know where to look. Looking back up at him would
be an option, but my shyness would always get the better of me.
Blushing was not a trait I liked to put up with constantly,
though in his presence it seemed to be routine. I could already
feel my cheeks burning up as he continued to look down at me,
though not smiling. He was simply staring as though caught in a
       trance of some sort.
“Ardeth..” I whispered, trying to get his attention.
Before I had time to think, he closed the space between us once
more and kissed me hard, his lips almost bruising mine upon
impact. I had moaned at that, and it only encouraged him. He
backed me up toward the bed and I toppled backwards, only to
have him follow and land over me. Though, he had held himself up
with his elbows so as not to crush me under his well built form.
I was thankful he’d done that. Having the wind knocked out of me
       wasn’t a pleasant thought.
He kept kissing me, not even breaking away for air. It lasted
quite some time. I didn’t mind however, it was more than what I
could have asked for. I just hoped his father wouldn’t come in
again and witness us actually taking that next step. He would be
furious and possibly try to hurt Ardeth all over again, if not
something worse at his injustice toward him.
“Habibti, you are far too tempting” he purred into my ear after
       pulling back from our kiss.
“Ana asefa” I replied, watching the smile grow on his lips at my
perfect pronunciation of the phrase I’m sorry.
He lay his forehead against mine, and we lay there for a little
while, just staring deeply into each others eyes. A cough
interrupted our moment and in walked Abbas. My heart began to
beat rapidly in my chest and I prayed to Allah that nothing bad
would happen with him seeing us both like this; so close to one
       another.
“Shae, I would like to speak with you” he said, turning and
heading back out of the tent.
Ardeth looked awfully worried, and I just sighed loudly. I lay
my hand on his cheek and told him with my eyes that I would do
nothing to upset his father further. He smiled a little at my
bravery and sat up so I could leave the tent.
“Child, do you know the severity of the situation you are in
with my son?” he asked, but did not give me chance to respond
and went on to say “It is not that I don’t want him to be happy,
it is just that it wouldn’t be right for him to be frolicking
with a woman whom was not his betrothed” he added, allowing me
       to speak.
“Sir, I understand your worry and I can only apologise for my
feelings toward your son. I would say the same for him, but I
will speak only for myself. What I have felt over the last few
days has been very real, something I have never experienced
before in my life. I ask only that you give us both a little
time to sort things out” I said, hoping he would consider my
       offer.
He brought his hand up to his chin and stood deep in thought for
a moment or two, before Ardeth joined us. He stood to my left,
and his fathers eyes lit up suddenly. Looking from me to his
son, he smiled a genuine smile, nothing forced or devious. I
turned my head a little to take in Ardeth’s reaction and was
ever so pleased to find him smiling back just as kindly. It was
a lovely sight to see, seeing as his father hadn’t been the best
       he could be for him.
My eyes twinkled when Abbas held out his arms to Ardeth, and a
tear or two slipped from them as the two men embraced before me.
I was beaming like a child again. Noticing I felt a little left
out of the happy union, Ardeth grabbed my arm and pulled me into
the embrace with them; I only laughed in return and hugged them
       both tightly.
“Now, shall we all head to dinner?” Abbas said.
“We shall” Ardeth answered for me, throwing a happy smile my
       way.
I smiled back, delighted that my powers of persuasion had not
only changed his fathers mind, but also that whatever I had said
to him, had actually brought up a ton of love he had been hiding
for Ardeth. He was ever so happy when he’d received that hug.
He linked arms with me as we strode through the camp toward the
long table, where a few men were already seated, waiting for
their meal. I leaned over a little closer to Ardeth as we neared
the table and asked him what would be served today. He informed
me that we would be having the same thing yet again, bread rolls
and barley. I frowned, visibly. As he looked at me puzzled, a
thought crossed my mind. What if I could make them something a
little more filling, maybe then they all would accept me and
forget about the horrid incident that occurred with my
       underwear.
I clapped my hands together and Ardeth stared at me very
       confused.
“Ardeth, you and your men should go to that lake not far from
here. I would like to prepare something special for you all this
evening” I said, smiling sweetly at him.
He did not object as I thought he might. Instead, he passed the
word around the camp and after the men had all thanked me and
shook my hand, one after another, I was left with two large pots
and a very long, empty table to fill up.

I glanced around the area in search of something that would make
a delicious meal, but I could not find an awful lot. That was
when I spotted a bag or two sitting to one side next to a
barrel; Allah only knew what was inside there. I would not be so
tempted as to open it just to find out though. I was a good
girl, so instead, I peaked inside the bags and found an
abundance of food. I gasped, wondering why on earth they would
result in eating only bread and barley everyday instead of all
this deliciousness. I shrugged, picked one of the bags up and
spread every item out onto the table, weighing up my options.
Being that there was an awful lot to choose from, I came to the
conclusion that using everything would be most appropriate.
I got to work on cooking and baking all the bits and pieces of
food I had found in both bags and within half an hour, the
majority of the table was filled with pots and plates of every
meal you could imagine. I didn’t want to limit myself, and of
course, I wanted to make a good impression. If they liked what I
had made for them, they might let me hang around a little
       longer.
“Habibti, what have you done..” called Ardeth as he came rushing
       over to the table.
His eyes showed no signs of happiness and I stood there worrying
myself to death. I couldn’t work out what I had done wrong.
“Um, I found some fresh food in my bag and thought I’d cook
something exquisite up for you all” I responded, lying through
       my teeth far too easily.
“Shae, do not lie to me. I can see right through you” he stated,
now standing tall in front of me.
I bowed my head in defeat and proceeded to explain what I had
found, where I had found it and why I had done it. I hadn’t
thought about it being such a problem before I’d cooked it all,
but apparently it was being saved for a certain ritual that
would take place two days from now. To say I felt guilt ridden
was an understatement. I had no means of getting any of it back
for them, and now there would not be enough for the festival of
sorts that would soon be taking place.
Ardeth’s hard stare upset me. I had only wanted to make them all
something nice to eat for once, and my actions had cost me my
pride. I no longer had any at all, and I no longer had the urge
       to stay here.
“I think, I’ll wait in my tent until you have all eaten, and
then I will be on my way to Cairo” I spoke quietly, but he heard
       every word.
I turned my back on him when he didn’t respond and walked toward
the tent to collect all of my belongings and start packing them
into my bag neatly. Just as I reached the entrance to the tent,
a hand gripped my wrist and I was pulled back against a very
firm chest. I knew it was Ardeth, but I didn’t want to deal with
him right now. My stupidity had tormented me long enough, and I
knew I would be better off leaving this place before I caused
       anymore trouble.
“Please, let me go. I don’t wish to be a burden to you any
longer” I said, pulling away from him.
“No” he bellowed, now wrapping his arm around my waist to hold
me still “You will be going nowhere for a while” he finished,
whispering the last part into my ear.
His soothing voice sent shivers up my spine, and try as I might,
I could not stand up for myself whilst being so close to him. I
felt the beating of his heart against my bare back, and fell
into a deep lustful moment. A moment I could not shake myself
free of. Even the sound of his men returning seconds later with
wide eyes and loud cheers did not shake me free. Ardeth,
whispering softly into my ear yet again, did not stir me. I was
captured and unable to move. I stood there, leaning back against
him for support, fearing I might just collapse any moment now.
His worry got the better of him and he picked me up bridal
style, carrying me into the tent and placing me down on the
       pillowed bed.
I lay there, very still, in my trance. My eyes fixated on the
ceiling of the tent as he sat beside me, running his fingers
gently over my cheek to try and get my attention and pull me
back down to earth. It was awfully sweet of him. I couldn’t
conceive of him ever truly being a horrible person, though his
reaction to my kind gesture had been one I would love to avoid
from now on. Perhaps that was what knocked me off course. My
       zone was slipping away, finally.
“Habibti, are you alright?” he asked, very concerned.
“Yes, I think so. Thank you, Ardeth” I said, smiling up at him.
He smiled back, but I could still see full concern through his
eyes and it made me smile even bigger. He was such a loving man,
so caring and considerate of others, long before himself. In
fact, if he even did anything selfish, that would strike me as
incredibly ridiculous, for he did not appear to have any of
those bones in his body. He would not harm a soul unless they
tried to harm him first, which I considered a good bargain with
       death.
“Ardeth, please forgive me. I don’t wish to leave, but if I am
in any way a bother to you and your men, or I can any kind of
trouble, I will not know where to stand. I’m asking you to
respect my wishes and, though it is sad to say, let me return
home tomorrow” I said, turning my head away from his gaze so I
       would not cave.
“But, habibti, I do not want you to leave. You have not stayed
long. I know I suggested it would be a very good idea for you to
go home as soon as possible, and I apologise sincerely for
snapping at you, but don’t be so absurd” he spoke, laying one
       hand on my forearm.
I still would not turn my head to look at him, for I knew my
weakness was deep in his eyes, I would never be able to stick to
what I had chosen to do. Carefully, I sat up from my laying
position and tossed my legs over the side of the bed, so that I
was now right in front of him. He had moved to kneel down on the
floor, and my legs were resting before him, his hand spread on
my lap as he looked at me pleadingly. It was difficult not to
say I would stay, just for him.
“Shae, why will you not look at me?” he asked, squeezing my leg
       a little.
“Because..” was all I said in response.
His hand having squeezed my thigh like that had sent bolts of
electricity up my leg, throughout my entire body and was now
sending signals I knew all too well straight into my brain. My
body wanted to act on its own, but I wasn’t going to give in.
“Because what?” he said, a little harshly.
I turned my attention to him when he had spoken in such a tone,
and his cold, hard stare shocked me. My wish to leave and return
home immediately seemed to be tormenting him, but I knew not
why. Sure, we had shared a few intimate moments, but he couldn’t
possibly tell me anything involving love. I would only stay for
love, and with that I’d made up my mind. Nothing else would
stand in my way of getting back home and reuniting with my dear
cousin Evie to tell her all about my stay here.
“Because, Ardeth. Please do not question me” I said, growing
       annoyed.
His stare remained cold and emotionless as I refused to give him
a detailed explanation for my ignorance toward him.
“Very well, I shall leave you alone for the rest of the evening.
Sleep well, Carnahan” he said, venom dripping from his words.
Not wanting to be treated as such, I stood straight away and
blocked his path so he could not leave the tent without an
apology. Though our heights were somewhat different, I did not
feel so small anymore. He had made me feel like a complete idiot
and had no right or reason to be referring to me as just
       Carnahan. It was horribly rude.
“Just who do you think you are!” I yelled, now poking his chest
pretty hard with every word I spoke “You have no right to start
calling me Carnahan in such a way that makes me seem unimportant
and small as a mouse. Just so you are aware, Bay, I do not and
will not back down from you ever again” I finished, now that I
had him in the corner of the tent.
His face was an absolute picture; I hated that I had not brought
my camera along with me on this trip. He looked a mixture
between angry and confused. It was either one or the other, or
even both for all I could tell. I didn’t really care either,
he’d upset me and made my blood boil, so I was standing up for
myself for the first time in my life, and I had to admit, it
felt really good. It was going to become a permanent trait of
mine. I smirked, despite the fury burning in his eyes, and it
only made him release a low growl, before gripping my arms and
       shaking me roughly.
“Ta’alay ma’ee!” he yelled. Thankfully, I knew what he had said,
but would have worked it out either way by the strength and
determination in him as he gripped my wrist and pulled me
       fiercely out of the tent.
He dragged me through all the prying eyes of his men, some
giving me sympathetic glances as I passed by. Apparently, they
had heard everything I’d been saying to him and vice versa. Not
one of them was laughing, which made me feel all the more
worried over what Ardeth might now do to me for disobeying him.

       ---------------------------------------------------------
When we came to a halt right beside the lake, the bushes and
small trees now surrounding us, he stood directly in front of me
after releasing his grip and glared daggers. I was waiting for
him to do what I thought most men did, having had no loving
relationships before. I closed my eyes over tightly and held my
arms up to protect myself, and then it happened.
His hand smacked me across the face, though not hard at all,
more or less as soft as a feathers touch. Tears threatened to
fall from my eyes as I pushed passed him and ran quickly back
toward the camp and straight into the tent, ignoring the calls
from his men asking what had happened and why I was so upset.
Shocked to my core, I fell down on the bed and grabbed my bag as
it sat beside it and started packing in a hurry. I didn’t hear
the commotion outside, but I didn’t care. Nothing would stop me
from leaving this time, not even my feelings for him. He hadn’t
hurt me much, but the fact that he had actually done such a
thing baffled me. I hadn’t pinned him as the type of man to do
that to a woman. He seemed very different.
“Ana asif..” a voice said from the entrance of the tent.
“Get out!” was all I said as I turned my back on him and kept on
       packing my bag.
I was almost done, before two strong arms wrapped themselves
tightly around my waist and held me very still. My struggles
were in vain, for he was not going to let me go anytime soon.
“Ardeth, let me go and get out this instant!” I half yelled,
possibly alerting the men lingering around outside the tent,
just waiting to hear everything that would be said.
“Habibti, please forgive me. I would never mean to hurt you, I
don’t know what came over me. Can you find it in your beautiful
heart to accept my sincere apology?” he begged, whispering every
word into my ear, his breath warm against my neck.
“Ardeth..” I said, trying not to give in to him.
We stood still and silent for a while. He thought he had won me
over again with his charms, but boy was he wrong. I removed his
arms from around my waist with force, grabbed my bag and swung
it over my shoulder. As I was about to exit the tent, I turned
to him and with a look of regret, I told him I was leaving to go
back home, as he had wanted me to in the first place. It seemed
to anger him all over again and I panicked, of course, thinking
       he would strike me.
I raced out of the tent as quickly as I could and darted toward
the area in which the horses and my lovely camel Sandu were
snoozing. Upon reaching them, Sandu shot up immediately and
rushed to my side. I struggled to mount him, but once I had,
there was no stopping me. He sped off as fast as he could
through the desert, up over a few dunes until the camp was
becoming a small dot in the distance.
“Shae Carnahan!!” I heard Ardeth yelling, at the top of his
       lungs.
I looked above me and spotted a falcon, carrying a message
inside one of his claws. He hovered over me for some time,
before flying off at quite a speed to get somewhere before I
did. I grew angry with his efforts to try and get me to stay,
but I just didn’t want his company anymore. His attitude was
like a whirlwind and I didn’t know where I was with him. It made
       me horribly uneasy.
“Come on boy, you can slow yourself down now” I said to Sandu,
       scratching behind his ears.
I must have fallen asleep on Sandu’s back as a sudden chill woke
me from my slumber. I glanced around and had to smile a little
at where I was; back at Hamunaptra. I decided to waste a few
hours here first, then I could go back home satisfied that I’d
       had the chance to explore.
Jumping down off Sandu, I allowed him to rest near a small pond
of crystal clear water. He sipped it every now and then, and
eventually lay his head down to sleep a while. It was only fair,
seeing as I had done the same thing without even realising it. I
would have to repay him for carrying me all this way on his own,
       without any guidance.
“Habla imra” called a voice I was growing very tired of hearing.
I had just entered through that same gap in the stone wall and
was wandering along the darkened pathway in order to complete my
reason for coming here in the first place. His voice was now a
bother to me, more so than it was a pleasure to hear. He no
longer held my heart in the palm of his hand. I would make sure
       he knew that too.
“You..” I said, spinning around and coming face to face with his
dark eyes “Why do you insist on tormenting me. Can you not just
leave me alone and go back to your playgroup?” I said, smugly.
Ardeth looked down at me with a fire in his eyes I hadn’t seen
since our last kiss. I chose to look away, to stop myself from
falling. When he did not say anything in response, I went to
push my way by him and carry on through the corridor. His arm
flew out in front of me, stopping me from walking any further.
“Oh please, give me a break. I only came to Egypt to visit this
place and you won’t even allow me to do that!” I said, getting
       angrier by the second.
“Carnahan, you will not go exploring this city on your own” he
       said, bitterly.
There goes that surname again. I shot him a death glare but he
didn’t even budge. I huffed in annoyance and shoved his arm out
of the way, wanting to ignore his warnings. He didn’t like that.
As soon as I took another step forward, away from him, he was
standing before me again almost immediately. It was frightening,
he was like a cheetah when he moved so quickly. Still, I stood
my ground and tried to outstare him. With my chin held high and
no fear present in my eyes, I kept looking up at him, ready to
cave. I battled with my emotions, trying hard to not let them
show through my eyes, knowing he would be able to see what was
       going on.
“Do not call me Carnahan” I spat “If you say it again, I’ll have
to hurt you” I added, smirking.
My bravery seemed highly amusing to him as he released a
heartfelt laugh at my threat. Clearly he did not believe I was
capable of such a thing. Little did he know, I had injured Rick
pretty badly the first time I met him. The stupid idiot had
tried to lay his hand on my breasts, but my cousin butted in and
said he was simply removing a bug off my shirt. I hadn’t waited
for that explanation, and poor Rick was thrown into the wall and
       kicked in his family jewels.
I smirked again at the memory, then focused on Ardeth again. He
stood tall in front of me, but when I wouldn’t break my gaze, he
lowered himself a little to my level, our noses now barely an
inch apart. I gasped and looked down at his lips momentarily. My
fear of him came flooding back when he raised one of his hands
to cup my face, but I calmed when he did not hit me.
I could see his regret as he watched me flinch at his touch. It
made me reconsider everything I’d been thinking about him over
the last two or three hours. I also hated that I hadn’t forgiven
him earlier and rode off away from the protection of him and his
       men.
“Ardeth..” I said, barely above a whisper “I’m sorry”
“It is alright, habibti. I am the one who should be sorry, not
you” he said, pulling me close against his chest.
My nose filled with his scent and I clung tightly to his robes
with my hands. I could not see his face, but I could tell he was
smiling into my hair as he held on to me tightly, afraid that he
would lose me all over again.
I loosened my hold on his robes and looked up into his chocolate
eyes. He stared back into mine, and before another word was
spoken, he closed the gap between us until our lips connected.
The familiar feeling brought tears to my eyes, tears that flowed
as though the rivers of Egypt would run dry for being emptied
through the windows to my soul.
Ardeth, noticing my tears, pulled back and questioned me. I
informed him that I was perfectly alright, but I would need him
to prove to me just how much he cared. With that, he picked me
up bridal style and carried me out of the building.
“I will prove it all to you tonight, habibti. You just wait
until we get back. Sleep, I will wake you when we get there” he
said after mounting his horse and pulling me up in front of him.

I leaned back against him, enjoying his warmth, and soon fell
into a sleep I didn’t think I would need. I had not woken once
on our short journey back, but when he stopped his horse and
jumped down, my body livened. He rested his hands on my hips as
I swung my legs around to one side, then rested my hands on his
shoulders. As he lifted me up and helped me down, he purposely
allowed me to slide down his body. Sparks and tingles explored
my insides at such close contact, and my eyes burned with lust,
       as did his.
He grabbed my hand and held it tightly in his own as we walked
through the camp, men staring at us and glancing at one another
with a knowing grin. I couldn’t help but blush at them knowing
what was about to happen. A few of them even sent me a thumbs
up, and I laughed at that.
Ardeth wasted no time once we were safely out of view. He picked
me up in his arms and lay me gently down on the bed before
climbing over me as a predator would its prey. It was insanely
arousing. He growled into my ear and got to work on removing my
clothes. I followed suit with his robes shortly after, and from
the intensity of that night, we understood what was next in
line, and oh would his father be pleased with what we had to
       tell him.

Where do I begin?! I was blown away by this, in all honesty. I
can't believe Shae's father called her a waste of space! That
jerk should be lynched! I've never wanted to beat a character as
much as I wanted to get ahold of Abbas, and then Ardeth for
using poor Shae as a sheild. I couldn't believe Ardeth was so
angry with her for standing up to him, it almost put me in mind
of a spoiled child being put in his place, haha. I was so happy
to seem them make up. I think you've just created my new
favorite character pairing yet my dear! :D Will there be a
       sequel?

I'm so pleased to know you liked this story so much, it really
helps to get things moving along. I'm sad it's come to an end,
but I've been debating with myself over what you have just
asked, and I've decided there will indeed be a sequel :] I'll
begin on that sometime today and shall post the first part today
as well. Thank you for following the story and the characters
for the length of it! :D and I hope you enjoy the sequel too
       when it gets started.
