Name: Elijah Winters
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Backstory: Elijah is an only child that used to live with his
father. 13 years back when Elijah was just 2 years old a fire
had started in his house, panicking his mother ran to where he
slept and took him in her arms and fled. As she ran out of the
house with Elijah’s father, she saw her beloved son crying out
loud and she handed him to his father telling him to keep going.
Elijah’s mother turned around and went to his room where she saw
his favorite toy, she was about exit with it but the spreading
fire blocked her way, still persistent to protect her family she
was yelling at her husband to keep going with Elijah. The house
blocked the rest of her pathways with fire and she was trapped
with no way to even say goodbye to her son.
After this, Elijah’s father always blamed him for his wife’s
death always taunting him for the day she passed. In school his
classmates weren’t better he was called the “kid who never
tried”, he never even had a decent friend, the only people nice
to him would always give him a pitied look.
One day in school he was visiting the library, when his favorite
librarian came up to him ( she is 59 years old but the closest
Elijah has got to a friend). She came up to Elijah giving him
her usual greetings when suddenly she put her hand to her heart,
Elijah quickly came to her aid and asked what was wrong, she
said she was having a pain in her chest. Elijah realized she was
having a heart attack, he put his hand to her heart and focused
like he has done this a thousand times. Instantly The librarian
got up and told Elijah she felt fine. She knew that that Elijah
revived her. The librarian then advised that Elijah should join
the union academy. So he that's precisely what he did.
Power: Has the ability to heal and has super sight
Romantically available: Yes (he always dreamed for the day where
it would happen)

John grabbed his suitcase from the back of his mom's car.
"Are you sure you packed everything?" asked a worried looking
woman.
"Yes, Mom."
"You double checked?"
"Yes."
"You have deodorant? Toothpaste? A fresh pair of underwear?"
"Yes! Now, can I go?"
"Just one last thing." His mom grabbed something from the
backseat of the car. It was a present.
"Mom, you shouldn't have," John said as a smile spread across
his face. He gave his mom a hug.
"It's the least I can do. I'm going to miss you, John."
"I'll miss you too." John grabbed his suitcase and backpack and
began walking towards the front entrance of Union Academy.
"Make sure to call!" His mom called after him.
"I will!" John walked into the massive building and walked
towards the front desk.

Name: Rajesh Narang
Age: 16
Gender: M
Backstory:
Rajesh was never terribly popular at his school, and while he
was well-known, he was always viewed as more of the class clown
rather than somebody to actually respect. He continually makes
jokes to try to fit in, but his casual, self-deprecating
demeanor conceals his true intelligence as a chess virtuoso. He
entered numerous competitions that he balanced with schoolwork,
but tried to keep his skill mostly a secret from his classmates,
thinking that it would get him branded as an unpopular nerd. To
add to his concerns, he developed an incredible crush on his
classmate Clarisse, who he knew was far out of his league.
However, as they became friends, Clarisse soon discovered
Rajesh's incredible chess skills, and began to visit him at
competitions. She rejected his romantic advances for the most
part, but eventually caved in and promised to date him if he won
the upcoming national competition. Rajesh trained harder than
he had ever worked before, thinking carefully through every
strategy and move he could face. However, when the day of the
competition came, Rajesh choked, forgetting his instinctive
skill and playing with the skill of a beginner, losing in the
first round.
Rajesh's shame and horror at his dreams being dashed were so
great that he ended up developing a power to use real life as a
chessboard, moving figures around it like pieces on a playing
field. However, as a side effect, he retreated into his shell
for a time, talking to almost nobody. After being transferred
to Union, Rajesh went back to almost his old self in terms of
his joke-making and social capabilities, but plans to be much
more wary about showing anyone his true colors.
Power:
Rajesh can move figures on a scale model of a location in order
to create them and move them around in real life. To use his
power, he must possess some kind of sketch or model of the area
he wants to activate his power in (which must be close by to
him). The more accurate the model is, the more powerful his
power is: it will be much more effective with a painted,
three-dimensional scale model than a quick sketch on a sheet of
paper.
Rajesh then places figures on the scale model, usually chess
pieces. A giant version of the figure is then projected onto
the area that the figure has been placed. Rajesh can move these
figures around on the scale model, and the projections will do
the same in real life. While virtually any object can be used,
chess pieces have special properties:
-Pawns take very little effort to summon, and many can be active
at once.
-Rooks have additional mass, and are harder to defend against.
-Knights can pass through physical barriers such as walls and
shields.
-Bishops can become invisible, although they are still solid.
-Queens emit a field of heat around them that becomes
progressively more dangerous closer to the queen.
-Kings allow for Rajesh to control more pieces at once and to
control them telekinetically, but if destroyed, causes Rajesh's
power to break down for a few hours.
Romantically Available (Yes or no): Yes; he is liable to fall in
love with someone unattainable hard and fast.

Isi looked out of her window again. It was the first thing she
did every single morning, and her favorite part to the drawbacks
of her power. Fortunately for her, this was one of the few
nights that she actually got some sleep. She wondered if she
could find more to her wind manipulation, so she headed down to
eat breakfast (what energy source is better than food?)

Adeline
Adeline put a finger on the window and looked up at the ceiling,
which was only two feet from her face. The train lurched
forward, and Adeline adjusted her pillow. She looked out the
window again.
Nowhere, always nowhere. Adeline wondered where in the world
this school could be? Other kids with crazy powers, a safe
haven, all too good to be true. She was being sent to a boarding
school in the middle of nowhere so she didn't kill anyone else.
She closed her eyes. It wasn't hard to accept her fate, she had
already threw most of her life away, why not the rest? Her
parents had spent tons of their savings hiring therapists and
all sorts of professionals to convince her and the other kids
they were delusional. No, the pole didn't put a hole in his
chest. It knocked him in the head and killed him that way. No
out of the ordinary things happened. Adeline defended herself,
killed the assailant, and had gotten off on self-defense. She
was now headed off to a remedial school.
The train shook again and a man opened the door to her bunk.
"We've arrived in Gyre! Home of Union Academy. This is the Gyre
stop." The man said before walking to the next room.
Adeline climbed out of her bed silently and opened her palm. The
suitcase flew into her hand. She grimaced at the sight before
walking out into the hallway. She pulled her hair back before
finding the exit. She had to look somewhat presentable, at
least.
A smiling man greeted her as she stepped off the train.
"Hello! You must be Adeline! Welcome to Gyre. You'll love
Union."
Adeline faked a smile and nodded as the man led her to a car.
She climbed in the back seat.
The car started up and the man turned around to look at Adeline,
"I know you must be tired or confused but don't worry. You're
safe with us, there's nothing wrong with you at all." The man
smiled and floored the gas, the car took off down the long
country road.

Adeline stared at the massive building. She sighed, might as
well head on in. Adeline walked in the large glass doors and
approached the front desk. There was another boy standing at the
desk. Adeline waved to him.
