It's a strange world we live in. Most of us are normal human
beings. We live, we die, we live normal lives. But some of us...
our experiences change us in odd ways. Somehow, our bodies
reflect our minds, giving us unusual powers. It's
near-impossible to understand, but we can control them if we
practice. That's what the academy is for, to help us understand
them.
The Union academy takes these children and pairs them with
another one of their kind. Together they learn about their new
powers, combat, and academics. However trouble brews on the
horizon, a group of alumni wish to drain the student’s powers
and life to charge a machine that would give every human on the
planet similar powers to theirs……
Will you fight back?
Each character has a set of powers (Fire, shape shifting,
illusion, etc) reflected by their backstories, specifically a
certain event that caused them to attain this power. The event
in question usually occurs between the ages of 10-18, and when
it occurs these young people are sent to the academy to train
their powers. Soon the characters here will choose one another
as partners, two to a team.
We're starting out with a 2-character limit for now. You can't
have both of your characters partnered to each other. Also,
follow the standard CST rules:
1- No God-modding (This means don't create characters that can
take control of other characters)
2- No Overpowered Characters (Pretty self-explanatory; OP
characters break the story, and while it's tempting to make a
ridiculously strong character that can do whatever they want,
RESIST THE URGE.)
3- Only Bunny Within Reason (This rule is broken quite often,
which annoys me to no end. Characters in general belong to their
creator, so in general I would limit bunnying to cases when a)
the owner has given you specific permission and set parameters,
b) you do not do anything crazy, and c) you stick with the same
personality of the original character.)
4- Follow Character Limits (Each story sets its own limits on #
of charaters allowed; it is important that you follow them
Filling a story with 50 characters that are nothing but cannon
fodder is just pointless. Similarly, 50 characters that do
important stuff is also pointless. Keep yourself to 4 or 5 at a
high maximum.
5- LOGIC (Good logic -> Story makes sense. Bad logic -> Story
doesn't make sense. Please, no flying buildings (unless it is
sci-fi in the premise) and no finding extra ammunition under a
bush. That kind of stuff makes stories confusing and they lose
continuity, thus taking away from the experience.
6- Avoid removing prior posts (This again makes it confusing and
difficult to follow.)
7- No Mary-Sues or Marty-stues (Perfect characters with no
personality faults have a place. That place is not here. Please,
just don't.)
8- One-scene characters may not have major plot impact.
-A one-scene character is defined as a character without a
sign-up form that is only present
during one scene for one purpose.
-These characters should be clearly foreshadowed or obviously
exist(i.e. "Go talk to the mayor,
she's over there) and exist only to communicate with the main
characters.
9- Don't be greedy; if you have an idea for the plot, and
someone does something contrary to it, don't just negate
everything they do; in short, work with other people.
10- If Character death/injury is a part of the cst, don't
complain and don't take it personally.
-Going off of the last one, don't kill/injure characters
for no reason. Do it with a legitimate reason in mind.
Name: Isilanta Hesnick ((Just call her Isi))
Age: 15 ((It's her birthday in a week!))
Gender: Female
Backstory: Isi was born in a prison, and lived in one her whole
life. Unlike most people in the prison, she had never done
anything wrong. Her father worked as a prison guard and her
mother died long ago. Though young, Isi was surprisingly clever.
She went to school underground and basically lived underground,
never seeing the light of day. A gift from her father on her
twelfth birthday was a trip unlike any other. It was a trip to
the world above! The best part was that it was a surprise. When
her dad took her out into the open, she felt the breeze for the
first time. It was like a whisper. Unlike most people that saw
the outside for the first time, Isi didn't care too much about
the sunlight or ACTUALL plants, all she cared about was the
breeze. She listened to it, and heard the whisper. Then suddenly
the whisper became words! The wind was telling her about ongoing
events! That night, she could hardly sleep. The outside world
was AMAZING! She wanted to hear more from the wind, so she tried
to sneak out, but was caught. Eventually, she willed the wind to
come inside so that she could hear it. To her surprise, she
found out that she could control it, move it, and change the
speed. The guards freaked out and dialed 911. Within seconds a
crew of police came to investigate and they took her away to the
academy. She could barely hear what the wind was saying. It was
uncontrollable, swirling around her. She needed a way to control
it! The police realized what was going on, so they knocked her
on the head and she fell unconscious (nice police indeed!). When
she woke up, she was in a white walled room atop a high tower
(to keep her wind from disturbing others during the night). Isi
looked out her window and gasped, for she could see the ocean
nearby. The academy was built on a high cliff that dropped down,
and HER TOWER WAS RIGHT AT THE EDGE! Then she noticed three
other towers, the building was almost like a compass.
Power: Wind manipulation, and 'speaking' (I may have forgotten
to mention, loves bow and arrows)
Romantically Available: Sure, why not, but I would prefer to
choose the charrie she's with.

Name: John Robbins
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Backstory: John always seemed to have a good life. He had lots
of friends, excellent grades, and surprising good looks (he
definitly didn't take after his father). However, there was one
dark area in his life. Father was always fighting with his mom.
Not verbally, but physically. One school night when John was
thirteen, he walked into the kitchen to see his father beating
his mother. He was furious. He yelled at his father, telling him
to stop. When his father ignored him, he tried to punch his dad
in the stomach. However, his dad was too quick. A powerful hand
grabbed his wrist and jerked it out of the way. Just as his
father pulled his arm back to sock him in the jaw, John
vanished. His parents stood there in shock. They were even more
surprised when he reappeared in the backyard. Immediately
afterwards, John began to attempt to figure out the exact
exstent of his powers. He later found out about the Union
Acadamy and begged his parents to let him go.

Name: Pyro J. Nova
Age: 12
Gender: Male
Backstory: Pyro was kidnapped as a young child by the evil Duke
Kendo who performed lots of experiments on him to see if he
could use pain to create magic. So he cut off Pyro left leg
just below the knee. (without pain killer) The duke also gouged
out his right eye, but was sorely disappointed by the results of
his efforts. So just for fun he dragged Pyro up to a volcano
and pushed him in. Then his inner and outer pain merged into
something awful he rose out of the volcano. His hair had turned
into fire, and his eyes had turned red. Pyro turned on the duke
looked him in the eye and said only two words good bye. Then he
left by flying away on his new wings and was never seen again
until now!

Name: Adeline Triarch
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Backstory: Adeline was a nerd in middle school, the type of kid
to get asked for homework advice, mocked a little, but mostly
never invited to anything. Her parents loved her and were very
proud of her multitude of academic achievements. She had a few
friends that she saw occasionally and went out of the house for
a few extra activities.
That all changed freshman year. When her parents divorced her
dad moved her to a new state. Adeline decided she no longer
wanted to be the shut-in everyone knew her to be. She spent the
whole summer before high school going to all the right parties
and making the right connections Suddenly Adeline was in the
center of attention. Everyone wanted to know here, boys asked
her out left and right. She was satisfied with herself and her
new popularity.
Around a year later she and her friends were on a camping trip.
They had all promised to take a full week out in the woods at
the insistence of one of the girls. Halfway into the trip
Adeline was woken up in her tent by a screaming camper. One of
the girls was killing off the other campers. Adeline climbed out
of her tent and did the one thing she thought she could. The
threw a pole at the murderer with all her might. Something
clicked in her brain and she felt some extra energy latch onto
the pole, speeding it up tremendously until it put a massive
hole into the girl's chest. The campers, including Adeline,
fled.
A week later once the story got out Adeline was taken by her dad
to a school called Union, for the genetic defects like her.
Power: Telekinesis. Adeline can increase the weight and speed of
objects, along with being able to move them remotely.

Name: Isaac Ringwald
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Backstory: During his freshman year, Isaac was so overloaded
with homework and sports and music practice that he barely found
time to sleep. Everything would be so much easier if he could be
in multiple places at once. One day that year, he had an
out-of-town track meet and a massive project due the next day
which he'd barely started working on. Soon before he would have
to leave for the meet, he hid out in the bathroom trying to calm
himself down and trying to figure out the consequences of
skipping track and how he could possibly get the project done if
he did go to track. A few minutes later his coach yelled to him
to hurry up, and Isaac walked out of the bathroom and boarded
the bus. Ten minutes after that, Isaac walked out again, this
time heading home. When he reached his house, his mother asked
why he was back, to which he responded that he felt sick and
couldn't run. He then went upstairs and went to work on the
project. When the clone got back from track, Isaac attempted to
stealthily get him upstairs, but his mother noticed the moment
the clone reached the front door. Two weeks and many awkward
conversations later, Isaac was transferred to Union.
Power: Cloning himself and manipulating the size of those
clones. He is only able to create two full-size clones at a
time, but by splitting the clones he can make many small clones.
He can also combine the two full-size clones to form one huge
clone. The original Isaac controls the clones mentally. The more
clones he makes, the more he has to focus on controlling them,
so when he's working with more than one or two clones he turns
his headphones up and closes his eyes to block out distractions.
The original can't divide or combine with other clones; it can
only control the clones. Clones form directly from Isaac, and
for them to disappear they have to be... i don't know, absorbed
or something, or killed. If a clone is killed, it disappears and
can be used to form more clones as soon as all the other clones
are gone.

Name: William Klaskovsky
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Backstory (Event that caused character X to get the power):
Prior to his inauguration into The Union, William was an
orphan in every sense of the word. He bounced around various
child support systems and facilities entirely alone, and be it
his unnaturally sunlight-deprived pallor, hair the color of
India Ink, or crystalline blue eyes whose skittish shifting
belied a certain world-weariness, he was actively alienated
from his peers. Due to his young age, the specific details of
his Parents' "disappearance" were withheld from him, and the
only physical article he received was a fountain pen: a subtly
complex and ornate artifact that has always felt comfortable in
his hand. Later on in his life, he began to write personal
mementos in an attempt to dissuade loneliness; fake letters to a
father he never knew. Simply writing with the pen that everyone
claimed his parents had cherished as an heirloom made him feel
closer to them, part of a lineage greater than his own dismal
life. It remained this way until a worker in his current
orphanage discovered these "letters" between father and son in a
routine cleaning. Stories of baseball games that never happened,
and school that never existed to be boring. William was expelled
permanently from the social security system that very week for
living a life that had never truly existed outside of paper.
Thankfully, watchful eyes looking for strange events exactly
like this one took notice: it was rather unusual to see a
ten-year-old so brutally punished for the first known case of
"orphanage fraud". Those watchful eyes were followed by
comforting voices and beckoning hands soon after, and William
Klaskovsky's life as a full-time border began.
Power:
William sustains the ability to temporarily influence the
conscious thought of others through his writing. Utilizing the
fountain pen (which he constantly keeps about his person), any
statement he writes on an adjoining piece of paper will be held
true by those that read it. This being said, he lacks the
ability to maintain more than three of these separate "notes" at
one time, and no anomalous properties will manifest on new slips
of paper until one of the previous has been destroyed or
rendered completely illegible. In addition to this, the created
"truthful" statement must be considered well within the realm of
feasibility by the recipient, or his abilities will fail to have
any influence. For instance, a sentence reading "The sky is
purple." handed to any normal individual would simply be
dismissed as nonsense instead of having the intended effect.
Note that while the amount of notes are limited, the number of
influenced subjects are not, so long as the statement is not
addressed to an individual. Not even the original writer is
immune to the effects. For this reason, William has developed
safety measures surrounding the use of his unique abilities, and
refuses to use his father's pen unless it is labelled for a
specific individual.
Romantically Available (Yes or no): Technically yes, but you may
be on the receiving end of a lot blank stares if you try.

Pyro Nova Intro:
After Pyro Had left the volcano he landed on some boulders next
to a lake. He sat down, and stared at the water gradually
calming down. His hair went back to its usual red and his eye
went back to green. What he did not know was that a maid from
the mansion in the woods had seen the whole thing. She came out
and hugged him. He was scared at first, but after a hot meal
and a long bath he felt much better. He then told the maid and
her mistress (Lady Melony) the whole sad story. "I'm sorry to
hear all that," said Lady Melony," but you're safe now. I tell
you what, tomorrow we will go see my old friend Dr. Malyi to get
you a magically powered synthetic leg, and get him to do
something for your eye. Okay?" Pyro looked at her and said,"
Thanks Miss Melony, but I'm very dangerous, aren't I?" Lady
Melony shook her head with a laugh," You know what I'll sign you
up for that academy that trains young ones with magic, and you
must stay with me over the summer. Oh, and new clothes, school
supplies, and a magical eye are in order. This will be so much
fun!"
" I-I can't," stammered Pyro. " You most certainly can!" she
exclaimed," we'll have one week to get everything ready. Now go
get some sleep." Pyro nodded his head thanked her one more time
and followed the maid up to a huge bedroom.
That all seemed so long ago Pyro thought as he walked up
to the front desk. I guess I'm finally getting the hang of this
leg, but I wish my eye will arrive soon, Wow how many people say
that I wonder? Well I'm here, time for a new challenge!

It's funny how music puts time into perspective
Add a soundtrack to your life and perfect it.
Name: Armenia Vandran
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Backstory: As a child, she had possessed an exceptional gift at
the musical arts. However, this came with a price -- she was
unable to speak, or make any sort of vocal sound. This did not
prevent her from giving performances, beaten by only the most
prolific musical geniuses. On one fateful day, her parents had
stepped outside to go buy some groceries. A typical day.
It was about 11 at night. She was still awake near the piano,
and her parents had been gone for two hours. They've never been
outside for so long. As she finished playing a song, there was a
pounding at the door. Armenia refused to get near the door; her
parents always told her not to open the door for anyone. They
had the keys after all. The pounding grew louder. She took
shelter under her piano, quivering in a ball.
The door gave in, and fell with a mighty crash. Heavy footsteps
grew closer to her. A ghastly chuckle. Armenia could see the
shadow of the giant axe he held. With two hands, he lifted the
axe high up, and it descended upon the piano. It was nearly
destroyed, hinted by the chilling noises of a dissonant mess of
broken strings and hammers. She scattered as fast as she could,
trying to run into her room. She wiped away her tears, but they
wouldn't stop falling. She took what little comfort she could in
her harp, affectionately named Lyre. She waited for the
inevitable in fear.
The giant figure broke down the door to her room too. He dragged
his axe across the floor, ripping the floor in its wake. He
lifted it again slowly. As a futile effort, she tilted the harp
for use as a shield. Before he could hurt her, she accidentally
played a shimmering barrage of notes, snapping the looming axe
in half. The axehead fell behind him, and in a panic, tried to
attack Armenia with the handle. She played some more random
notes, high in pitch, and he suddenly stopped attacking. He
dropped the handle, and covered his ears as if in pain.
Confused, Armenia let go of the harp and observed him rampaging
in an attempt to stop the pain. He soon fell to his knees, ears
still covered. In a few moments, the man no longer moved.
Armenia dashed back to the living room. She grieved the loss of
the piano, and started to cry again. In that moment, a wonderful
sound played in her head, and she began to feel lightheaded.
When she opened her eyes, it was like magic; the piano had
repaired itself back to normal. A resonating hum hung in the
air.
15 minutes later after the incident, her parents had finally
returned, their clothes dirtied and damp from the rain. They
could tell something was wrong, and they tried to comfort
Armenia. She pointed to her room, and her father went to check
it out. Shocked by the scene before him, he called her mother
over to see it as well. A man lay on the floor with a broken axe
next to him.
For years, Armenia's parents tried to cover up the incident. To
this day, the man's body hasn't been found. However, another
much more minor incident occurred that convinced her parents
that something was off. During an argument, Armenia was playing
the piano as she usually does in the afternoon. Distressed by
the yelling, she struck a dissonant chord that silenced the
room. Right after, a vase with flowers broke, and her father
complained of a sharp, lasting pain in his ribs. They consulted
the Union Academy, convinced she had a power like no other.
A fitting recital.
Power: Armenia has the ability to turn musical instruments into
deadly weapons. With just a few notes, she can turn a sonata
into a massacre. After the traumatic event of nearly losing an
instrument, she always keeps her two sidekicks by her "side":
Lyre (Harp) and Sceunohn (Piano). Lyre is more fit for slicing
things cleanly, but is very protective of her owner, able to
alleviate minor to moderate pain. However, Sceunohn is more
aggressive; he is exceptionally skilled at smashing and
shattering objects. They can all communicate musically, in a way
only Armenia and her companions can understand.
Romantically Available (Yes or no): Uh, sure. Not sure if you
can really have a heartfelt conversation or anything though.
QUICK EDIT: Her instruments exist "next to her" in a sort of
"alternate dimension" that harbors only Lyre and Sceunohn. No
one or nothing else can go in. Not even Armenia. She may only
summon them at will.
