I personally like Mystery, but out of the two you listed, I
would definitely pick fantasy. Honestly, what kind of person you
are determines what genre you like. If you like magic (GO TEAM
MAGIC!) you'll probably pick fantasy. If you're more of a
sciency kinda person you'll probably pick sci-fi.

Rationally speaking adventure is not a genre. It could be a
sub-genre I suppose. In my opinion, adventure is something that
can happen in a story rather then something a story is built and
based upon. An adventure genre would be a story based upon
exciting undertakings and risks (which would be more different
then you can imagine), which brings up the point that all
fictional stories contain exciting undertakings and risks,
opening up an argument of adventure being an omni-genre.
Personally, I do not believe adventure is an omni-genre, it is
simply one of the major elements of an everyday story.

Aaand? Just because I see adventure on a website doesn't lead me
to believe it is an actual genre. Just because it is on a
website doesn't make it an actual genre, either.

I agree with leaping deer if you go to the library and look hard
enough your going to find a book saying the genre is adventure
(though i do think it is a sub-genre)

I think the defining feature of "adventure" stories is that they
focus on a character or group of characters going on a journey.
I don't think it's a particularly descriptive name, and I
definitely share some of JG's concerns about it, but for
instance I wouldn't call... a realistic fiction story about high
school an adventure story.
I don't think sub-genre is the right word either, at least if
you mean a sublevel of a genre within a wider level. What is
adventure a sub-genre of?
