Kalmath
"It's Kalm- Jenny." Jenny said, "I knew I've seen you before. I
was wondering, have you ever met the chancellor?"

Ash
"I don't believe so. Jason might have, but not me. Not quite the
"people person" I guess."
She looked up at the sun.
"I have to get going soon. It was nice seeing you though!"
Ash bought some apples and headed back home.

Kalmath
"She's nice." Kalmath said to her.
She walked down the long stone roads of the market looking at
random magic trinkets. She picked up one and bought it. Dragon
Magic, huh. Well I have none of that She played with the charm
in her hands. I'll get a few of these and see if I can do
anything back at my little home.

Jason/Ash
Ash got back home with one coin to spare. She had run as fast as
she could without dropping any apples. Jason had been sleeping
under the tree the whole time. Ash shook Jason a little.
"Huh... what?" Jason mumbled.
He sat up and leaned on the trunk of the tree.
Jason saw Ash's basket full of apples, "Were you at the market
again?"
"Yeah. Just picking up some food."
...
"Have you met the chancellor?"
Jason seemed a bit confused.
"No," he lied, "Why?"
Ash scratched her head, "Just wondering."

Kalmath took a bite out of an apple, I wish there were big
apples for dragons.
A giant line of Luuiae Warriors ran by her, nearly trampling
her.
"EVERYONE STAY DOWN!" She heard a somewhat familiar voice.
"DO NOT MOVE, ANYONE!" The voice shouted, "Please remain calm,
there has been a situation in the north market that we need to
attend to, do not panic."
Kalmath looked up a little to see a skirmish happening just up
ahead of her. Some magicians had cast a recording spell to
capture the event. Others were fighting what appeared to be some
sort of ninja fighter person? Kalmath couldn't tell, he/she was
moving too fast.
"While we're sorting this out let me introduce myself. I know
this is a terrible time to announce this but I am the new Grand
Chancellor of the Luuiae, Kyla Verak. After we solve this little
issue I will be making a formal announcement at the gathering
tonight. Thank you. Again, please be calm."
Kalmath continued to look at the kerfuffle. The fighter seemed
to have dispatched two of the mages and was looking towards a
third when he stood still for a moment. He stared right at
Karmath and they locked eyes for a split second before a fire
arrow was fired at him. He quickly dodged away and dispersed
into the shadows.
"What is he? He killed two of our Warriors!" One of the mages
said.
"A shade, and a hell of a shade at that." Another one said, "We
need to find him before he finds us, or else the upcoming
coronation could turn to a bloodbath."
"I didn't even think of that."
"It's why I outrank you."
Kalmath put her head back in her hands as the Warriors slowly
filed out, leaving the dead bodies there.
"This MURDERER," A court official said using a voice enhancer
stone to the crowd, "Killed three innocent people and two Luuiae
Warriors, If you see anyone like this man!" The image of him
staring lit up the sky, "Report them IMMEDIATELY! That is all."

A report was sent out to all the authority figures in Colt.
INCIDENT: MURDER LOCATION: NORTH MARKET
TIME: 11:47 AM
DETAILS: Conflict and screaming were heard from the area of
incident. Kyla Verak sent her Luuiae Warrior to assist ending
the situation. When they arrived they found victims 1, 2, and 3
already dead and the murderer destroying victim 2's wares. The
Warriors engaged the murderer and fought him, losing two. After
pausing for a moment, he ran off at a blinding speed, seemingly
melting into the shadows.
Commander Troy says the man is most likely a Shade, or a shadow
magic user. However there is a slight possibility of him being a
shapeshifter.
VICTIM 1: Vendor of general magical wares [NAME REMOVED] Died
while defending Victim 2
VICTIM 2: Vendor of magical wares pertaining to changing one's
form [NAME REMOVED] Was the target of the murder, something to
do with what they were selling? No motive yet
VICTIM 3: Vendor of voice manipulation charms [NAME REMOVED] Had
no signs of cause of death, There will be an analysis of the
body later today.
ATTACHED IS THE CULPRIT'S LIKENESS.
THIS MAN IS WANTED FOR CRIMES AGAINST THE PEOPLE OF COLT.

Freyda
Freyda fingered her transparent dagger. A weapon that, when
stabbed into the body of a dead magician or magical creature,
could drain its magical energy. She and a medium-sized group of
other Seraphim were gathered near the north market.
Lucas, a high-ranked Seraphim, stood up and began speaking.
"I know we don't normally go after magicians. Too much bad
press for not enough energy gain. But that Shade killed one of
our own, and he sure didn't defeat two Warriors because he's a
weak magic user. Tonight, we're going to catch this murderer,
and avenge the death of our fellow Seraphim!"
Other members of the group cheered, but Freyda just sighed.
Catching this guy really wasn't worth the effort. She eyed the
vials held at Luke's side – most were empty, waiting to be
filled by magical energy, but three of them contained crackling
blue energy that could be used in the case of an emergency.
Their leader hated it when they wasted that stuff, and would
make sure you were ostracized for weeks if you used it
recklessly. That was why she had turned to blood magic in the
first place – finding a different fuel for her magic so she
didn't have to rely on the vials.
Freyda nicked the tip of her forefinger with her dagger, and the
blood that oozed out turned into liquid fire in her hands. If
they're going to accept me, I need to impress them tonight.
After the cheers died down, Lucas began talking again. "Okay,
now it's time to split up and investigate the northern market
and surrounding areas. We need to find this guy and kill him.
Report back with your communication charms. Now, go!"

Name as it appears in the Colt Royal Registry: Ashlynn Jabuka
Name you are called: Ash
Age: 18
Occupation: Farming
Religion: Luuiae
((Just backstory filler. For slightly more descriptive bio
purposes only.))
Ash
-- 2 years ago -- ((Cause why not))
Ash swung her sword.
"Good! Very good!" Her teacher shouted.
She blocked the two next swings.
"Very nice!"
Ash turned her head for a moment. She saw somebody- Jason. She
didn't know him back then, but she wanted to.
"Ow! You actually hit me!" Ash screeched at her teacher.
"Pay more attention next time."
"I'm sorry. I got distracted."
In the distance, Jason waved to Ash.
"Oh, I see."
Ash blushed, "I better go now.. thank you again for the
lessons."
************
She walked to the market. She ended up going to the market at
least once a day. Ash turned a corner and saw Jason. He started
walking over towards her.
"Hey, I saw you earlier. Ashlynn isn't it?"
"Ye- no- I think-" Ash stuttered.
"Calm down," Jason said smiling, "I'm Jason."

Kalmath
Kalmath slowly stood up. A group of crown officials were
cleaning up the crime scene while the rest of the vendors were
continuing business. She took another bite of her apple. Why did
that shade/man/thing stop to look at me?
She made towards the southern end of the market. People seemed
to be somewhat shaken but going on as usual. I guess that's
fairly normal, can't let pesky crime get in the way of business.
Kalmath thought to herself. She kept walking until she got to
the river. Oh! I need to stop by the cathedral. She made a right
turn and walked down the riverside until she reached the massive
church.
She walked into the main lobby and looked around, Now how would
I go about talking to the Chancellor?
Maxine
Max was done with her library shift and headed outside. Her
house was in a rather dingy neighborhood. She didn't mind of
course, but it did mean a walk through some rather suspicious
places on her way back. She went through the alley behind the
Meralee grounds as usual and heard some yelling from the other
side.
"Okay, now it's time to split up and investigate the northern
market and surrounding areas. We need to find this guy and kill
him. Report back with your communication charms. Now, go!"
Maxine looked around the corner to see several people all
dressed in red run off towards the northern end of the city.
I'll go see what's going on over there, won't hurt.
She dropped off her things at her house and headed towards the
north market.
--
Max stood near a pretty quiet alchemy stand looking around for
the red-clothed people but she couldn't seem to spot any. What
exactly are they looking for? She figured she might as well wait
there. They said the northern market, they were bound to cross
the center of it at some point. She wrote a few things in her
notebook and took out a small book, still listening for any of
them.

Smith
The corners of Smith's lips twitched upward as the priest read
out the traditional Meralee burial sermon. His dad only really
cared about 3 things in the world; Meralee tradition, Magic, and
Smith. He never really cared about money, although he'd
ironically amassed much more of that than of Meralee or Magical
lore. Father would have surely approved of the small, quiet
ceremony that had so far been going precisely as planned.
"And may our brother's soul rest peacefully among the Fae. May
our prayers be answered. May the Fae bless our brother and us
all. Zivilot."
A resounding chorus of 'Zivilot's, of varying degrees of
interest, was the prompt reply. Smith had never liked that word.
He understood, for he was educated in ancient language as was
expected from a noble, that the word was derived from phrases
meaning "Faerie" and "Life", but the pronunciation sounded very
forced to him. He corrected his mind off of that train of
thought, and stood up from his cross legged position in unison
with the other guests. The service was over, and they now
descended on the table of refreshments like they would never see
food again.
Smith's good friend, Oliver, stepped up to him, although stepped
seemed a bit generous. The man more stumbled up to him, the last
of his too-many goblets of rum in hand, and clumsily patted him
on the back.
"A great man, Brown Sharpe was; a great, great man."
"Th- thank you, Oliver..." Smith stuttered awkwardly,
embarrassed.
"Still, all that matters is that he's been adven... avenged.
Yeah." Oliver stumbled over the complicated word towards the
end, and Smith grimaced.
"Yes. We ought to put that behind us now."
"Wha? Behind who? Whachu talking about? We can't forget your old
man's honerrrr, can we?" Oliver said, throwing down his empty
goblet and lifting a full one up to his lips. "We gotta make
sure... all the... Luuiae... they pay for this, right."
"Oliver, must you drink so much on every occasion! I've told you
a hundred times, that'll destroy your health! You can only take
so many potions before you need humor adjustment."
"Right, right. Well I'm go home den."
"Not so fast!" Shouted Smith.
Later, he escorted a somewhat drunk Oliver back to his manor
house, reflecting all the while on his father.
