       Mosaiah
       Tap.
       Tap.
By now, the primary source of shoe tapping came from her own
boots and the footsteps of her glass guardian, Following behind
her. Talking and light footsteps would still be heard, but began
to be drowned out by the dripping sounds within the alleyway.
The ground was covered with puddles of dirty water, which
Mosaiah avoided. She just recently had her uniform and boots
cleaned off, and she wasn't wanting to dirty them up, despite
       being in such a location.
Time still went on, the skies growing ever darker. The clouds
remained, and while it hadn't begun to rain yet, a drop or two
could be heard tapping the roofs of the buildings every few
minutes. It wasn't a great mood, but for now, it was semi
fitting, and she wasn't getting blinded or heated out by the
sun. She already had enough to do with being out in the sun, for
       now...
As the two entities walked deeper into the alleyway, whispers
sounded through the walls, movements beyond. Mosaiah slowed her
approach, the glassen ally doing the same. The voices became
louder, scratching and hustling sounds become faster paced.
Then, from the darkened corners, a roughed up man, possibly
taking unhealthy substances, trotted over to the female slowly.
Mosaiah stepped back once, her face forming a sneer. And with
another step back, she purposly stepped and cracked one of the
many glass bottles that littered the alley. The man walking
closer, had a grow smirk, having a woman dressed as a maid
in-front of him, He raised his arms, hands posed to lynch, and
       called out.
       "Heey, boys, lookie who's vis--"
He never finished his exclamation, as glash shards flew
themselves from the females feet, through the head and neck of
the drunkard. Mosaiah huffed, crossing her arms disapprovingly,
as the now dead man fell down, backwards. More, and more, humans
prove to be an insufferable species.
Yells were called out, as a group of four, muscular and drunk
men, came forward, all with angry faces. One loaded a small
pistol gun. The female, however, spat on the ground, and stepped
aside, the glass figure behind her, stepping forward. As one of
the thugs scrawled, raising his fist at the guardian, the
glassen entity raising an arm. Its hand, first palm up, began to
deform, the fingers fusing themselves together, and after a few
seconds, started to expand out, and then formed a glass blade.
       ...
Eight minutes. Mosaiah was sitting on a crate, book in hand,
reading. it was nice and quiet. The glass guardian had stripped
itself of its business suit, for the time being, rinsing itself
off in a constantly leaking waste-water drainage pipe. Here, she
       can concentrate, at least...

       David
David was warmed by the glowing fireplace, which now housed a
large wooden frame, and the blackened remains of what had once
been words on paper. They were gone now. The army uniform had
also been removed from the wall, no longer in sight. All that
remained was the fatal, two-and-a-half word phrase, which glowed
       crimson from the firelight.
David stood in the center of the room, expression distant.
Fine.... if fate demands that I waste my life on fighting, then
I'll give fate the best goddamn fight it's ever seen. That will
be my legacy... I will become a warrior greater even than you.
Not on their terms, but on mine. As of this moment, I... am...
       LEGEND!
A barking laugh rang out, loud enough that the neighbors heard.
Everyone assumed it was David, but there was something in the
       tone... was changed.

       Professor Pronto
Dr. Oshiro was at his desk looking at papers. The
philosopher was doing some research for his top secret project.
The philosopher took a sip of coffee and heard a knock at his
door. Quickly, the philosopher put his papers away and opened
the door. It was Hiroto, the butler.
"What now?" Keiji asked, slightly irritated.
"If you want to enter in your case, you have confused travesty!"
Hiroto said. Hiroto never learned English properly.
       "What?"
       "Incident!"
Dr. Oshiro dismissed the dull-witted butler. Even though
speed was no concern of his, the philosopher packed up all his
things including all his papers on the top secret project. In a
flash, he was ready. The philosopher trekked down the many
stories to the floor above the subterranean room.
"Farewell, Keiji Oshiro." said Keiji's brother, Zentaro Oshiro.
"Au revoir, Zen." Keiji responded. Zentaro's nickname was Zen.
Dr. Oshiro also bid farewell to their building mentally and
clambered into his glossy gray car. The philosopher propelled
       his vehicle into the horizon.
The Oshiro family owned numerous buildings. A few buildings
were for living in and the rest was for business reasons. The
family was fairly wealthy. Dr. Oshiro began scrutinizing the
       megalopolis.

       Alexis Conzette
On the cover was THE SANCTUM KEY, in bold golden letters. Alexis
opened the book. The first few chapters were simple review for
her; they disclosed the realm of Sanctum and its massive magical
power. However, it went further- the following chapter regarded
something she did not recognize: the "Key". The next few pages
described a great competition among a select few mages for hold
of the entirety of Sanctum's limitless capabilities. This was
symbolized with a key-like object, which would metaphorically
"Open the gates" and give its wielder infinite power.
The flow of destiny bestows upon a select few mages the means to
summon a Servant of tremendous power. This 'Heroic Spirit'
fights alongside the Master who summoned him or her to defeat
the others and seize the Key. A servant will be a manifestation
of one of seven classes: Lancer, knight of the spear; Archer,
master of the bow; Caster, wielder of magic; Assassin, killer of
mages; Rider, the mounted warrior; Berserker, the mad tyrant,
and Saber, the servant of the sword. Free spirits by nature,
they can be taught to submit to their master, come to submission
on their own accord, or be forced to obey through use of Command
Seals. These are three marks on one's hand that prove him to be
a master. He can use one to command his servant to obey a single
command without question. This can be done a maximum of three
       times before the seals vanish.
She had reached the end of the book not long after. The final
page was not unlike the pages of the countless tomes Alexis had
studied- it provided instructions to construct a summoning
circle. She looked over to the wooden box and brought out the
small object wrapped in cloth. She unveiled it, revealing a
heavily rusted dagger with a short chain attached to the bottom
of the hilt, with no apparent function. It was the catalyst. She
drew the symbols designated by the page on the library floor.
Afterward, she carefully placed the dagger in the middle of the
       circle and stepped back.
A cold draft churned in the room. Stray papers dragged across
the floor in a circular pattern around the summoning circle, but
Alexis did not flinch or even seem to notice. But when she
looked at the circle, she felt an odd sense of excitement. She
had been given this book and this catalyst for a very important
reason. She knew not what it was, but she was compelled to enter
this competition to find out. She looked to the backside of the
page and read the inscription aloud, breaking the silence.
"Heed my words. My will creates your body, and your sword
creates my destiny. If you heed our battle's call and obey my
will and reason, then answer my summoning!"
The draft accelerated into a roaring wind, circulating the
circle and carrying papers and small books along with it. The
circle began to violently glow, but Alexis did not back down.
Her eyes widened with the light and her heart began pounding,
but her soul compelled her to continue.
"I hereby swear that I shall be all the good in the world. That
I shall defeat all evil in the world. Seventh Heaven clad in the
great words of power, come forth from the circle of binding,
       Vanguard of Eons Past!"
With those final words the wind tore through the air, spreading
paper in every direction as the circle was bathed in magnificent
       light. Everything went white.

       Zain Krauss
Krauss stood up and stretched his back. The summoning circle he
had sketched on the ground was complete, and the lines looked as
straight as he could manage. The instructions for summoning
this particular spirit had been crude, obviously copied from
some greater book, but Krauss knew, upon seeing the lines on the
       ground, that they were accurate.
Krauss could feel his magic resonate as he approached the
circle. Perhaps it was just a trick of his mind, but he felt
that when his thoughts drifted closer to some essential theme
       – battles and empires, impossible odds, victories and
defeats – the resonation grew stronger. It was time to
       begin.
Krauss stepped into his bedroom and retrieved an urn of ashes.
His father’s. He had been a great man, but Krauss vividly
remembered every second of his slow descent into death, and so
the ashes had always pained him. He would be glad to see them
gone. He placed them in the center of the summoning circle.
“This is the empire that we shall defeat. You are defined
by your accomplishments, by those that you have defeated. I
present to you the longest odds you have ever faced, in life or
death – a victory that will resound through the ages!
       Join me!”
He then spoke the words that had been burned into his mind,
       tasted them on his lips:
"Heed my words. My will creates your body, and your sword
       creates my destiny.”
The lines of the summoning circle began to glow dimly white.
"If you heed our battle's call and obey my will and reason, then
       answer my summoning!”
Grey smoke began to rise from the center of the circle.
"I hereby swear that I shall be all the good in the world. That
I shall defeat all evil in the world.”
Krauss began to hear a thundering noise, off in the distance.
As the noise approached, he thought he could make out the sound
of trumpets. The room began to shake, and the picture of his
brother fell down and broke. The picture slipped out, and
drifted to the center of the circle. Krauss scrambled to
retrieve it, but it was already gone. Too late to stop now.
"Seventh Heaven clad in the great words of power, come forth
from the circle of binding, Bane of Emperors!” Krauss
felt a searing pain on his left hand, and knew that marks were
forming there, marks that would let him control his servant if
       the worst happened.
The grey mist expanded throughout the room, and Krauss could
make out a massive form within. “So,” a voice from
within spoke. Serious, harsh even, but with a hint of a smile.
“The empire of death, and the empire of order. This is
       what you desire to defeat.”
       Krauss swallowed. “Yes.”
The spirit laughed. “Fitting, then, that you should call
upon me. Very well, I will assist you. And perhaps I will
finally prove worthy of the title… of the greatest general
       of all time.”

       Madame
A few hours later, Madame had left her office.
"Do you know where she went?" A man asked her secretary.
"I do not sadly, I am paid to take care of her paperwork and to
       reveal nothing about her."
"Well she was an old classmate of mine and I wanted to talk to
her." The man scratched the back of his head.
"Well I'll leave her a message for whenever she comes back."
       "Thank you!"
"Oh it's nothing." The secretary said.
       Madame smiled.
       "Name?"
       "Houyi, the archer."
       "You will assist me?"
       "Yes."
"Refer to me as Madame. It's good that you're here. We have a
       lot of work to do."

       Mosaiah
Grinding noises, the glassen guardian itching a circular pattern
within the asphalt ground. It was slow, but the glass
nonetheless cut through, a hexagonal batter etched inside, as
well as other intricate symbols, copied off of the book Mosaiah
had in hand. The robotic-like movements made the cuts precise,
almost perfectly, had it not been the old and jagged material
that was being carved. It would suffice, however, and should do
what it was required to accomplish.
She had no true idea why, it felt as if she obtained a strong
case of OCD, but something told her that this was required to
be done. Miraculously, she even brought a book that have vague
information regarding this, 'ritual', when the OCD-like mental
pull had her select it as one of the few books to bring along.
So, as she sat there, the transparent entity sketched a symbol
into the ground, a summoning circle, as she herself, studied the
book, a passage of a chant to speak. It confused her, but she
decided, she must do it anyway.
       Tap.
       Click.
The footsteps continued to sound. However, at this point the
female couldn't even be sure it was footsteps anymore, but she
pretended it was, as the alternative would be, fairly
       nerve-wracking.
       Tap.
Mosaiah stood up, when the summoning circle was complete, the
efficiency of the glass guardian making the job quick. She
closed the spell book, stepping closer to the carved symbols in
the ground, her adrenaline seeming to spark up slightly. Bending
down, she'd place the spell book she was reading in the center,
before standing back upright, and stepped back.
"Heed my words. My will creates your body, and your sword
       creates my destiny."
Her words came somewhat sudden, reciting the passage that
herself was focusing on earlier. They were low, but audible. The
glass figure had stepped away at this point, watching silently.
"If you heed our battle's call and obey my will and reason, then
       answer my summoning!"
Mosaiah continued to speak, her tone becoming louder with each
word. The circle, began to glow, faintly. A neon like blue. The
air and sky around seemed to begin darken, making the blue glow
of the circle appear to brighten greatly.
"I hereby swear that I shall be all the good in the world."
       Tap.
       Tap.
       Click.
"That I shall defeat all evil in the world."
       Tap.
"Seventh Heaven clad in the great words of power..."
She wasn't even sure if she was fully in control, by now. She
was nearly finished. But, the feeling around seemed to push her
to continue, beyond her own choices. The excitement of the rush,
the raising power around, and the unknown outcome of it, kept
       her from consciously resisting.
"...Come forth from the circle of binding, Artist of Olden
       Times!"
A shock-wave blasted through, the glass guardian thrown back and
shattering against the wall, Mosaiah herself getting knocked
down. Her head became dizzy, and eyes slightly phased by the
light, the last thing she saw before loosing conciousness from
her head cracking down on the ground, was that of a friendly,
but old beared man, bending himself down to assist her.
       Tap.

       David
David's back ached as he drew the short dagger across the
ground, scraping in the final line. He had been crouched down,
running the dagger across the rough ground, for what felt like
ages, although he had no way to be sure. The light spoke of
early evening. At last, it was ready.
The complex pattern lay out across the ground, and David
carefully placed the pottery shard in the exact center. As soon
as it touched the ground, a jolt shot up his arm, slightly
painful. David recoiled, but his arm would not move; it seemed
fixed to the pottery shard, which had fixed itself to the circle
in turn. The low humming grew louder, and if David had hair it
would have been ruffled, not by any conjured wind but by the
sheer megatons of arcane might. David began the chant that he
had memorized by the 8th reading, quickly at first, but then
slower as his very breathing seemed to reach a harmony with the
       humming.
"Heed my words. My will creates your body, and your sword
       creates my destiny."
"If you heed our battle's call and obey my will and reason, then
       answer my summoning!"
The room dimmed, as if the circle was drinking up the energy,
and the humming seemed to purr in pleasure, almost greedily
       drinking up the words.
"I hereby swear that I shall be all the good in the world. That
I shall defeat all evil in the world.”
Now the lines glowed crimson, the light illuminating David's
face. It did not flicker, but made a steady crescendo.
"Seventh Heaven clad in the great words of power, come forth
from the circle of binding, O Rouser of Armies, Titan of War!"
The hum became a scream, and David fell back, as mist billowed
up from the center of the circle, a figure forming.
"Yet you shall serve with your eyes clouded by chaos. For you
would be one caged in madness. I shall wield your chains."
The man shrieked, as if being burned, and David felt the same
pain, as if a hot spike was being driven into his scar. Then,
all at once, it was gone, and there was only that massive,
bearded man, with hateful eyes visible beneath his war helm.
       "H-Hello?" David found his voice.
       The man only frowned.
       "I- I summoned you, I'm your m-master."
At this, the man glowered, and David was all at once aware of
his massive might, aware that this man could kill him in a
second and think nothing of it.
       "I have no master."

       Professor Pronto
After some driving, Dr. Oshiro swiveled around an
intersection and parked at a gargantuan building. This building
was located in a remote chunk of the megalopolis. It had a
plethora of signs reading OFF LIMITS and it was disguised as an
eminently perilous power plant, but it was actually a lodge for
magi. A guard loped over to the glossy gray vehicle.
       "ID?" the guard inquired.
"Keiji Oshiro." the philosopher responded, showing his ID as
       proof.
"Keiji! It's an honor to meet you!" the guard asserted.
"Yeah, yeah, now let me pass."
       "Right this way, sir!"
       Keiji rolled his eyes.
Later, the philosopher was sitting in his room, ready to summon.
His relatives had been in previous Sanctum wars, so he knew what
       to do.
"The rock from a river, deep and wide, washes you onto the
       southern side."
Keiji tossed a rock into the center of the summoning circle.
"Heed my words. My volition creates your body, and your sword
       creates my mirai."
The summoning circle began to flare expeditiously, and
water started to careen into the room, followed by echoes of
numerous shrieks in the air. The philosopher was utterly
       unruffled.
"If you heed our battle's call and obey my will and reason, then
       answer my summoning!"
A tumultuous wind bellowed into the room, making a mess.
Thunderous neighing was heard in the distance, then a booming
gallop getting closer and closer and closer.

"I hereby swear that I shall be all the good in the world. That
I shall defeat all evil in the world. Seventh Heaven clad in the
great words of power, come forth from the circle of binding, the
Wild Bullet, Soothsayer of Youth!" Keiji felt a sweltering ache
on his left hand. The philosopher tossed a pile of dust on the
summoning circle as a tall man on horseback emerged holding a
       dandy instrument.

       Alexis Conzette
Eventually, her vision returned. She regained her thoughts as
she adjusted to her surroundings, still lying on the floor.
Right... Last I remember, I was summoning something to fight
with me in some sort of war.
She looked up and was met with an unfamiliar face. Above her
stood a fair young man, maybe no older than nineteen years of
age, with blond hair and deep red eyes. He wore a dark,
shrouding cape over jet-black medieval armor, and yet despite
his intimidating outfit, he clearly meant no harm to her. Alexis
got off the ground to get a good look at his face as he stepped
down to one knee, and the two reached eye-level.
       "...Are you alright, Miss?"
She blinked for a second, then regained her composure and stood
up completely. "I'm fine, thank you. Who, may I ask, are you?"
The young knight also rose. "I am the servant you have summoned
to fight alongside you in the Sanctum War. You may call me
       Saber."
She murmured under her breath, repeating what she had read in
the book. "The Servant of the Sword..."
       "...Hmm?"
"Oh, it's nothing. It's just that I'm still recovering from that
spell." Alexis looked down to the back of her left hand. Sure
enough, symbols that matched the book's description were now
etched into her skin; they were the Command Seals.
"I'm sure you know what those do." Saber suggested.
"Do I appear so naive that you feel the need to explain?" She
       challenged.
"No, Ma'am..." They both looked around the room. The private
library which had once been a silent study was now distraught,
littered with scraps of paper and books all around.
       "...How long was I out?"
"No more than a few minutes."
Alexis sighed in relief. "Well, it looks like we still have all
morning to clean up. And it looks like I'll be getting some
help." She smiled at Saber. He smiled back.
