Advertising Resolution

No direct challenge, no preference with regards to who decides
to join. Basically, leaving this as an open debate.
Claim (Assertion):
Advertising does more good than it does harm.
Evidence:
-The field of advertising, marketing, and public relations
employs about 625,000 people in the US. This means that
approximately one in 500 people are employed in this field.
-Advertising is a method by which one's ideas become accessible;
for example, a presidential candidate may choose to advertise
that they will protect the environment while their opponent may
claim to defend the rights of the middle class. As such, in
public decisions, such as a vote, advertising is an unimaginably
important tool.
-A significant portion of transactions made in America are the
result of advertising; it creates a positive feedback cycle that
strengthens the economy.
Starting with these three major points for now; hopefully
somebody will reply and I won't be forced to debate myself.

I agree with this statement: advertising is more helpful than it
hurts. As far as I can see it, a major positive benefit of
advertising is allowing a website or TV station to provide
entertainment or a product without directly charging the
consumers. Without advertising, many websites that we can
currently access for free would have to find other ways of
making money, which would likely involve charging the users of
the websites. Sure, it's a nuisance, but it's better to have it
than be without it.

I accept this challenge. I will add my rebuttal soon.
