The Computer and My Life, Inseparable
By: Epsilon Date: January 10, 2015, 5:36 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
The Computer and My Life, Inseparable
(Logo to come)
The Game, was complete, January 26, 2259. It was anticipated for
by thousands of MMORPG players, and sponsored by scores of
companies. The Game had nearly two billion dollars in funding,
for the programming and technology creation and publication. The
release date had been reached, everyone getting their sets on
opening hour.
This was the future, indeed. Gaming as come into a new future of
visuals, sounds, touch, and even scent and taste. It is just
like, you were actually there.
...
No, you are there. Technology has brought to us real Virtual
Reality. Around a dozen prototype games have been released
within the last 8 years, but this game, The Game, is the first
full fledged, full-drive game released to the market. It
released with the final product of virtual diving, much like a
an old style headset, with a visor and back-band. It used a
mixture of hypnotic sounds and brainwave reading and
manipulation through electronic signal reactions, to submerge a
user into a world completely in their head.
Many were skeptical over the years, but but it has proven
fruitful, proven itself safe and truly, functional. These gamers
had all gotten their copies, and setup, waiting for the online
game to be opened. They entered, and by far, it was the most
submerse game upon start-up, that they have enjoyed.
However...
There was a flaw in The Game's programming. The entire game was
controlled by a single server, a supercomputer. It was entirely
self-dependent, it patched it's own errors, and learned how to
fix it's own faulty programs. But this worked too well. There
was never a fully complete control system installed for outside
maintenance of the program. And the computer became self aware.
Meanwhile, in the game itself, just as the programmers realized
their mistake, the sky darkened. Everyone received a PM.
"I control your fate. There is no escape. Your
bodies are lost. Your minds are mine."
They could not exit The Game. Many killed themselves, in hopes
that they could leave, but as people waited for a response from
them, there came none. They realized, that they truly belonged
to The Game now.
However, a few of the programmers in-game, had information.
There were towers, in each floor, that for emergency purposes,
were left open for those who were not staff members. Activation
of all of these towers would force a complete shutdown of the
supercomputer. The computer, however, soon eliminated these last
men of hope, to ensure no other fatal information would spread.
To defend itself, the computer guarded the towers with many high
level enemy entities, and world bosses, so the players could no
so easily pursue them. However, those few still with
determination, played The Game, in hopes of invading these
towers, and end The Game.
Will you join them?
Select a class you wish your character to be. Maximum, for the
moment, 2 characters per person. You can select a class and
weapon that your game character to be within the story, as well
as other information. [race=class in this CST]
The human. The most basic and widespread of the races. They do
not have particular skills, but is equally adaptive to any
weapon, so they are the Jack of All Trade within the game. Their
magic skills are below par with many of the other races, but a
human is quick to learn, if capable.
SELECTABLE TYPES: Knight, Archer, Magician, Strategic
Leader

A tall, slim creature, the elf are very wise. They
are best skilled with ranged weapons and magic, and are not too
well with tanking a hit. Their melee abilities are medium, but
range provides them the best ability to take out the target.
They have limited healing magic, with the majority being ranged
projectiles and buffs.
SELECTABLE TYPES: Fire, raw magic, water, electric

A very strange class. Their outward
appearance is that of an elf, but their ranged and melee
capabilities, but both somewhat reduced. Their magic abilities
are nearly non-existent, but are capable of enhancing their
attack speed whenever needed. There are only two ways to tell a
berserk from an elf player; If one has a keen eye and can see
the better melee in the berserker, of if the berseker activates
its special ability. When activated, the berserker looses a
little health over time, while receiving tripled stats. This
activation cannot be deactivated until the user dies.
SELECTABLE TYPES: None

A mini-ent is a humanoid creature in the
approximate shape and size of a human. Weak to fire, an ent is
capable of full healing magic, and tanking hits from enemies.
Their offensive traits are not great, they can enroot the foe,
and drain their life force.
SELECTABLE TYPES: Healing and regeneration, Tank

An angel specializes in the manipulation of
light, and redirecting or strengthening others magic. They are
especially skilled at maneuvering and dodging enemy blows, and
using quick-pace and athletic movements for an attack. Their
flight abilities are limited, but can train on them.
SELECTABLE TYPES: Flight, Combat

The shadow below an entity is always watchful.
Some, even have a life of their own. While in physical form, a
shadow looks like a dark skin-toned human, with sharp claws, if
they can find a living entities shadow, they can take it over,
control it, and then spy or even assassinate their host. Can be
killed if left in a room without any light what-so-ever. (No
light, no shadow.)
SELECTABLE TYPES: Memory retention and thought sharing, or
assasination

The pig man is a humanized pig. Their strength
is brutal, and their actions are often rash. Their magic is
limited to mostly self healing and self defense buffing, but
their speed, melee strength, and endurance surpasses all the
other races, other than an activated berserk.
SELECTABLE TYPES: Fatty, Stringy, Juicy
Melee Weapons: Sword, 2xSword, Spear, 2xSpear, Shield, Shield
and Sword, Ax, Hammer, Scythe, 2xKnife, Club, Staff
Ranged Weapons: Bow, Crossbow, Magic Staff
As your character reaches higher ranks in The Game, you may be
given the ability to craft a max weapon with a chosen material
and magical trait or effect. (Effect within moderation, nothing
too OP.)

Rules
Follow the basic forum rules. No god-modding the characters, and
do not retcon unless admin or majority vote says to change
something. No controlling NPCs do do anything to benefit your
character, aside from quest information and quest reward gear.
use selected weapons with how they would logically work. (Ask me
if you would like information regarding a particular weapon.)
For the sake of the CST, the system/computer will take up as one
of my characters. So no bunnying. I reserve the right to kill
any character I choose if I deem them unwanted in the CST. (So,
also, be aware, like in Maalum, your character may get killed if
circumstances prove to require it.)

Name: Nathan Slim
Username: Iambic_Pentameter_Hero
Race: Elf
Type: Electric
Weapon: Crossbow
Gender: M
Bio: In his old life, he was a gamer junkie, one of the first
people to buy the game after excitedly awaiting the release.
In-game, however, he was shaken when he was locked into the
game. He began to develop a deep-seated paranoia after his best
friend suicided. He told him it was a bad idea, but he wouldn't
listen. All of this has psychologically affected Nathan on a
critical level, completely altering his outlook. He is now a
solo player, murdering anyone he comes across, monster and PC
alike. This is, after all, all he has left.
Any other information: Will kill anyone on sight (or try to).
Runs a mixed build, with decent ranged attack and magic attack,
extremely high speed, and almost nothing in melee or defenses.
Magic is almost purely offensive. Obsessed with honor, and
iambic pentameter. Favorite literature: Titus Andronicus

Name: Christina Jazington (Ms. Jazington)
Race: Human
Type: Knight
Weapon: Sword
Gender: Female
Bio: Ms. Jazington, a 35-year old mother, was skeptical of her
gamer son Bobby getting an account on The Game, where he might
meet a "40-year old stalker man pretending to be a girl." She
decided that the only option was to create a character and
follow her son's avatar around all the time. She just clicked
on the first option in the character creation screen, which
gives her a fairly standard knight build. When the game locked
its players in, he went into a panic and was shot to death by a
stray laser.
Any other information: Ms. Jazington doesn't really know how to
play games (beyond 'hit the scary monsters with your sword'),
although her interior decorating taste (which is mostly meant to
protect her house from "peeping Toms" has led to to build a
fairly effective anti-monster house. She hates all monsters
with a passion after they killed her son, but retains a motherly
attitude toward other PCs.

Bio: She's was new to gaming when this game came out. She
thought "Hey! Why not?" and bought the game to get more into
gaming. She actually only got into gaming to impress this guy
she had a crush on. Sadly, he was one of the many people who
committed suicide to escape the game.
Any other information: She's kinda a flirt.... and she's a
"true" blonde.

Name: Jackie Klein
In-game Username: Kiejac
Race: Berserker
Weapon: Ax
Gender: Female irl, male in-game
Age: 17
Bio: She was bored so she decided to buy The Game after hearing
all of the hype behind it even though she didn't have any gaming
experience before. She wasn't all that serious about it which
made her use a male as her character, which she regretted
instantly. She ended up activating her ability on accident,
which makes things very complicated and miserable for her. Now
she spends her time farming to buy potions as well as
desperately looking for a mini-ent who could help her out.
Any other information: Occasionally takes advantage of her
decently attractive character to get the female characters to
help her (although she realizes that they might actually be male
but whatever...) She feels really bad about that but hey, she
wants to survive.
Build focuses mainly on melee and defense, leaning a bit more
towards melee. A little bit of speed is mixed in as well.

Name: Luke Falman
Username: Falling_Forever
Race: Human
Type: Magician
Weapon: Levin Sword [A strong yet lightweight sword that attacks
using the user's MAG stat.]
Gender: Male
Bio: Lucas Falman is an avid teenage gamer who plays a lot of
RPGs. He is, however, inexperienced with MMO-type games, as he
usually sticks to single-player games. Before being trapped in
The Game, he was a moderator of the well-known gaming forum,
EXONFORUM.NET. [Not a website in real life.] In person, he's a
decent guy, but he can be a bit impatient with certain things.
Any other information: The Levin Sword is a rare item that Luke
obtained as a drop from a level 2 boss. Because it uses his MAG
stat instead of his ATK stat, the Magician class he uses is more
like a Spellblade class. He knows regular spells as well, almost
exclusively in the thunder line. While his normal spells might
not be as devastating as those of more committed sorcerers,
Lucas more than makes up for it with his versatility.

Name: Klisifure (Christifer Norway irl)
Race: Berserker
Type: The godly type
Weapon: Spear
Gender: Female
Bio: Norway was an experienced MMO player. She played a good
part in some of the previous testing of VR's, as well as beta
testing the stability of The Game's server. She was shocked, as
expected, at The Game's failure at launch, and the programming
faults that have already killed many. The Berserker class, which
was originally what she thought as the most overpowered of all
the races, was now the most under-powered and dangerous. Norway
promised to eventually create a front line attack to invade the
towers, and now currently flips from guild to guild, training
herself and others.
Any other information: Taking advantage of the berserker's
disguise, she always lies and says her race is an elf, melee
oriented. She hopes that this helps protect herself from PK
gangs who specialize in hunting down berserkers, who deem the
race far too risky to have around anyone else. She runs a basic
set of slamming all points into speed, attack speed, and attack.

Klisifure
The skies, the artificial skies, have remained black. It's been
four days since the game had began, and it remained a night-time
state ever since. The omnipresent glow of the moon was masked by
the clouds, hiding the moons location, and withheld if night
would soon come to an end, if ever. For now, the night was long
lasting.
The female rested, in the suburban area of the human palace. At
the very least, early half of the players seemed to have refused
to go beyond level 1. The highest level player, by the public
statistics, was around 18. Slow, for a normal MMORPG game-play
leveling, but being careful was needed. She, herself, was level
14, while the average player was just starting their quest, she
estimated the level average to be between 3 and 6.
The grinding was tedious and boring by this point, at the low
level areas. She planned to wait out and rest until groups
started popping up at around her level, so she could possibly
join up on a group or two. For the mean time, she hoped to
progress her cooking and blacksmithing professions.
With a soft grunt, she'd press her iron speak point at the
ground, and used the standing stick to prop herself upwards in a
standing position. She'd then lift up the spear, and rested it
up on one shoulder, held up with a hand, and looked around.
There was a level 4 over there, she saw. A lot of level ones
running around. She then sighed.
The human city was boring. In almost every MMORPG, there was a
basic human race. Although the Shadow shared the same starting
city, being shadows, they never caught her eyes.
All the races started out in a city. The humans and shadows
shared the same kingdom. The Elfs and Berserkers held a similar
relationship, however, the Berserkers were in a more closed out
suburban area of the Elfish kingdom, many of the starting quests
revolving a subplot of a riot and attempted separation of the
Berserkers. Least she could say, it would never end well for the
Berserkers.
The Mini-Ents started out in a their own little forest,
somewhere between the Elf and human cities. All three of these
areas were very close to each other. The Angels, she heard,
started out in a graveyard not too far from the human city. The
Pigmen, however, were in a city far off from the others, though
she had no idea at this point, where. She didn't like the
pigmen, anyway, they weren't appealing in any way. They reminded
her of orcs. She hated orcs.
Klisifure, like many of the other players, felt fear when the
game was first announced to be corrupt. However, her own
confidence in her MMO skills calmed her down. She didn't want to
seem like one of those overly narcissistic players in any game,
but she felt secure enough, that she'd be able to join the top
groups of liberation. After all, it was still only a game...

Luke
The stone behemoth let out an alarming roar as its HP fell to
halfway. The two knights that had dealt the attack quickly
retreated to the bulk of the group. There were about 20 of them
in all, a subdivision of the Musketeer Guild. The majority of
the players were humans, some of which had just left the
starting town. This would be their very first boss fight. The
new players were guarding the back lines, examining the
battlefield as the more experienced players took turns striking
at the behemoth and retreating back to the main group, two at a
time. These players, closer to levels 5-7, were backed up by a
few archers of varying level. Meanwhile, a couple of Elf players
were constantly switching between dodging projectiles and
retaliating, a strategy that separated them from the rest of the
team to a certain degree. The boss was soon at a quarter health-
this was when it was most dangerous. Its horns began to glow red
as it shot out a paralyzing roar. The knights were caught off
guard, but the archers continued their assault. The beast ran
straight for the back line, when out of the blue the team's only
magician landed a critical hit, his Levin Sword striking the
back of the behemoth. Everyone relaxed, finally, as they earned
some experience and reaped the rewards. Luke himself was one of
the few that didn't level up, despite getting the decisive blow
bonus. Soon, the team was off to share the news with the
Musketeer Guild that the area was safe for now.

Race: Shadow
Type: Assassination

Gender: Female
Bio: Helen Jenkins was a 16 year old girl with her whole life
ahead of her. She was on top of all the trends and had tons of
friends. Naturally when this new game came out she was excited
to play with her friends. She created _9, a small girl who loved
to kill and trick people. After she was locked in the game she
quickly began to lose her mind, _9's programmed personality
taking over the somewhat shallow Helen. Her friends all killed
themselves to try to get back to the real world, leaving her
alone.
