Luckily, the synthetic rock didn't cause any serious damage. I'm
out of the hospital today, and I'll be back in school tomorrow.
Man, this school year sure has a track record of
hospitalizations. First Ricky's coma, then Maxton split his foot
open, now it's my turn... jeeze!
Oh, June dropped in. Like, she literally fell from a tree. She's
fine, though. You see, June has a really weird power called
Shadow Shifting. I found out she can turn herself into a shadow
and move quickly through them. I guess she saw me at school last
week. How embarrassing...

Thursday, September 16th, 2410
I didn't find June in our usual spot at lunch today, so I went
out looking for her. I eventually found her, behind the main
building talking with Ebony and Delsin. I didn't catch what they
said, but June seemed to be really distressed. She's a bit
shorter than the two, Delsin especially. I don't remember
exactly what happened after that, but I woke up a few minutes
later with a headache. They were gone, and I had to get to
science class. I couldn't find June anywhere. I'm worried about
her.

Like, seriously, what just happened? I can't seem to think

Saturday, September 18th, 2410
Sorry about that. After yesterday my mind's been really
scrambled. Now I think I'll be able to fill you in, though.
I talked to June in private today. We talked about how she knows
Ebony and Delsin... For personal reasons, I don't want to write
down what I heard in this journal. I think you'll understand.
After school, she dropped by my house. We went over the book
another time. It just occurred to me- perhaps the alchemy
instructions called for a power like hers. Could that really be
the answer we've been looking for?
We tested it- over the book... She turned her hand into a
jet-black shadow, and I turned my hand to pure light. Our hands
seemed to attract one another... We could both feel an immense
amount of power on the edge of release. We touched hands. Our
fingers interlocked... Sparks of light and black violently burst
from the point of contact, but the book started to glow. The
sparking intensified until it finally exploded- June and I were
blasted in opposite directions, and the book lit aflame. When I
came to, everything was a blur... I heard garbled whispering,
but I don't think it was in English. The book had lit my desk on
fire, but I saved my journal. As I was scrambling to put out the
fire, I heard voices. Frantic yelling, something about fire. I
think that was just me hearing the people outside, but it
sounded like it was in my head. That explosion must have really
busted me up.
After the fire was out, I was alone with June again. I must have
thrown a tantrum. The book was destroyed, and the experiment was
a failure... I remember June crying... Oh god, did I yell at
her? I didn't mean to. I was confused and frustrated.
June... I'm sorry... Will you forgive me?

I've thought it over the last couple of days. When we touched
light and darkness, the book lit on fire due to the sparks that
flew out. As it turns out, the book was just a bunch of
nonsense.
I mean, what did I think would happen? The spirit would just
walk over to our world and everything would be all dandy? Today,
I learned life doesn't work like that. There is no spirit
world... and there is no way to prove there is a parallel
universe. What a waste... I feel really stupid now.
I have to apologize to June tomorrow. I've been an idiot.

I talked to June today at lunch. She was quiet... but she was
real comforting. She told me it wasn't my fault that I lost my
cool. I KNOW that's not true. She's just trying to make me feel
better... It kind of worked. Still, though, I'm a bit
disappointed.
Well, anyway, it's time to get ready for the big final... the
tournament.

I'm thinking of asking June out for lunch on Friday. It's going
to be a date... sort of.
Something about Ebony really bugs me, though. Even more so,
Delsin... I didn't realize it until today- Delsin's eyes are
red. His hair's white, and his skin's pale. I think he's albino-
maybe that's why he wears that hood.
