I have lost track of how long this phenomenon has been here.
It's so... odd... yet I can't seem to remember just how long ago
this whole thing started. Wasn't it just last week? No... it's
been going on for years, right? What was it like before then? My
mind's a cloud. Is anyone else confused as I am? I'm too
embarrassed to ask. Maybe I'll get a straight answer if I just
ask someone, "Hey, how long have people been turning into
Matryoshka?". Maybe I'll be branded insane. But, if I don't ask,
I'll never figure it out, because for all I know, everyone else
could be wondering the same thing. But what if they aren't? What
if I'm seriously the only one who's confused about this?
Am I a Matryoshka? Is that why I'm so confused?

- Matryoshka (ma·try·osh·ka, ˌmatrēˈäSHkə)
refers to a human who transforms at night.
- The ratio of normal humans to Matryoshka is 7:1.
- Normal humans are well aware of the existence of Matryoshka.
- By day, a Matryoshka acts as he/she is a human.
- By night, a Matryoshka transforms into a much more wild form,
reflected in physical changes such as pure white skin,
neon-colored hair, etc.
- A normal human has a single set of memories.
- A Matryoshka has two sets of memories: Those of Day life and
Night life. By day, the individual lives like a normal human. By
night, the individual takes on a wild alt. identity.
- A Matryoshka's night form reflects the inner character of
his/her day form. This may mean that by night, a Matryoshka's
personality may be exaggerated drastically, or his/her true
feelings may be brought fourth.
- By day, a Matryoshka does not recall memories of what happens
by night. By night, a Matryoshka does not recall memories of
what happens by day- therefore, they have two sets of memories
that cannot be directly transferred, and are more like two
separate people who take turns using one body.
- Friendships and Romantic interests are not reflected through
different forms. Someone a Matryoshka may love by day, said
Matryoshka may hate by night, and vice versa.
- In their night forms, Matryoshka possess strange abilities
such as increased speed, insane luck, impressive charisma, etc.
These traits do not carry over to day forms. Normal humans and
Matryoshka in their day forms do not possess these powers.
- Matryoshka in night form may fall in love with normal humans,
but may also fall in love with other Matryoshka. Whether a human
may return such romantic feelings depends on the individual.
- A Matryoshka's day form may find out that he/she has a night
form and therefore is a Matryoshka, but cannot learn naturally
and must learn through proof (Security footage, eyewitness
reports etc.) Without knowledge of his/her night form, and
individual cannot know if they are a Matryoshka or not.
- The lucky number of all Matryoshka is 524. It appears on
numerous occasions in random situations, but nobody knows quite
why.
- No one is certain how or when the Matryoshka Phenomenon began.
Rules
1. Your style of writing must be in Role Play format- that means
you speak in first or third person and cannot control characters
you have not created. You may, however, loan the right to use
your character to another user.
2. The setting is Las Vegas, Nevada. If your character starts in
another city, please, make it in the same time zone and avoid
isolation from the other characters for too long.
3. Day/Night cycles regularly and universally, but you may
request additional time to finish a scene. Don't keep us all
waiting, please. I'm looking at you, Zen! Wait. Uh, anyway...
4. Lilium is the Matryoshka Hero. What this rule means is up to
interpretation.
5. Non-RP speak will either be done in a separate thread or
using [THIS], ((THIS)), {OR OTHER SUCH THINGS SUCH AS THESE
CURLY BRACES}.
6. You do NOT need permission from anyone to interact with any
character, so long as it makes chronological and physical sense.
You may control another character's dialogue only during
situations of small talk- major plot elements known by a
character may only be revealed by its creator or anyone given
rights to use it.

Personality: Senji often times emotionless and expressionless,
seemingly cold. He holds his arguments valiantly, rarely failing
to convince the other side. When outside of debate, he tends to
avoid contact with others. Tends to become annoyed easily,
however, towards annoying interactions.
Education: Employed
School/Job: Lawyer
Does he/she know that he/she is a Matryoshka?: Is suspicious of
the fact.
What he/she knows about his/her night form: He knows very little
of his transformation, knowing only that suspicious things
involving him seem to occur at night.
Day Hobbies: Seems to spend a lot of time in his room, debating.
Skills: Highly charismatic when needed, and remaining sulk
towards any interaction, including things that would surprise
most people.
Are you okay with this character falling in love?: Sure.
Bio: Senji is a tall, suited man, almost never seen not wearing
a formal suit. His hair is slightly long, almost reaching his
shoulders, and often seen unkempt. Eyes are a dark blue.
At a young age, he took an interest into law, and decided to
learn the basics of being a lawyer. 10 years later, he became
well known for his argumentative ability and loyalty to law.
Outside of the court house, however, he seems to become a rather
anti-social person who hides in his room. No one has ever been
in the room, but it has become a rumor that there are a lot of
otaku items behind the door.

Personality: Psychotic and/or strange, outgoing and seeking
attention of others, however, makes little sense, and always
wears a crazed look.

Night Hobbies: Roaming the streets, interacting and scaring
other people, being a creepy mad-hatter in general. Pulls
pranks.

sturdier. Speed also seems to increase slightly. (+6%)
Are you okay with this character falling in love?: If one can
handle the madman, sure.
Bio: Despite his his hard, serious nature in the day, at night,
Senji becomes a deranged, angry madman, roaming the streets of
the city without aim. His hair becomes a dark green, as his face
contorts to that of a psychotic killer, hunting down people and
scaring them half-to-death, before switching targets. His
walking posture comes slumped over.

Bio: Just last year, her miser father died and she and her
mother inherited his fortune. Her mother, who moved to Paris,
was glad that she no longer had to work (since the father never
wanted to pay for the family with his own personal money.) She
never touches many of her father’s facilities on the
estate, including the massive garage with 9 cars, the indoor
water slide, the personal movie theater, or the shooting range.
She, however, is studious, active, and can’t stand doing
nothing, so she took her mother’s leaving as an
opportunity to be what she really wanted to be, a writer. Now,
she lives a routine, quiet and single life (if you don’t
count the fact that she is extremely rich). However, she has
always dreamed of a chance to do something more adventurous with
her life, which is why she almost exclusively writes fantasy.

Personality: Brilliantly intelligent, but much more adventurous.

Powers/Abilities: Intelligence is insanely high, although common
sense is lacking. High charisma and persuasive abilities. Really
bad luck.

Bio: Nobody really knows here night form, but they know OF her
as that weird girl that drinks and goes to cazinos and rides a
bike that looks way too big and loud for her. Also, loud sounds
are occasionally heard near her estate.
Extra notes: Both forms fall in love relatively easily, night
form especially so. Night form is liable to falling in love with
a random person they see walking.

When he sets his mind to an objective, he seldom quits before
the job is done.

Day Hobbies: He's a member of the mystery club of his high
school with his friend, Jenny.
Skills: He's working with skills in deduction. Alan aspires to
become a detective, starting with catching his nemesis.
Are you okay with this character falling in love?: Yes.
Bio: Alan is an Asian boy with sharp-looking glasses and a
nonathletic demeanor. As a dependable member of the West Valley
High School Mystery club, Alan Gray has made it is job to catch
and bring to justice his Matryoshka arch nemesis, a thief that
calls himself Tony Red. Each day, he examines the leftover
scenes to piece together his whereabouts, but Tony always seems
to give him the slip. The two have been going at this for a few
months now, yet have never met in person (Though, they sometimes
write to each other- threats and the like.)

Nickname: Tony Red
Personality: Wild, trouble making and has a love for shiny
objects.
Time of Night character transforms into Night form: 12:12 AM (He
calls the time One-Two-One-Two)
Time of Morning character transforms back into Day form: 5:24 AM
(He calls the time Five-Two-Four)
Night Hobbies: Robbing banks and stealing purses are just a few
of the many acts of mischief Tony Red carries out nightly.
Lately he's been getting more clever, however, after noticing
the presence a skilled detective by the name of Alan Gray. The
two have exchanged threats in the form of letters as they
anticipate their eventual showdown- in the meantime, Tony Red
just keeps on stealing, and Alan Gray continues to pursue him.
He hides his riches in an unknown place somewhere in Las Vegas.
Powers/Abilities: Tony Red knows how to escape all manners of
traps and tricks set up by bank security, as well as tactics
common police use in attempt to catch him. He makes use of his
treasures in numerous, creative ways, such as throwing coins to
the ground to trip chasers mid-run. Tony's swift on his feet,
some have even reported seeing him jumping high in the air and
taunting his victims and foes.
Are you okay with this character falling in love?: Yep.
Bio: Tony Red, master thief. Every night between the hours of
12:12 and 5:24, something of value always goes missing, and
pieces of paper with red stamps left behind always signify the
culprit. Tony Red, the arch-nemesis of detective Alan Gray, is a
tough one to catch- but Alan will stop at nothing to catch him.
Extra notes: Alan Gray does not know that he is Tony Red by
night; likewise, Tony Red doesn't know he's Alan Gray. Neither
has even considered the possibility that he has been jumping
over his own shadow. The battle will seem to go on
indefinitely...

I looked around my surroundings. I found myself in the center of
some empty street. Smiling slightly, I began to walk forward, my
shoulders slumped over. I did not know what I found amusing, or
even, why I was here. I had no aim. I simply walked forward. And
for the next 5 or so minutes, I continued this.
I soon came across a pair of small children. Seeing them, my
smile grew, my head turning to the side. I saw them playing
catch. I wondered, why were such small children playing at this
time of night? I must teach them something, then. They might get
hurt.
I then rapidly move closer to them, being about 6 feet away
before they spotted me. The larger one of the children who held
the ball, thrusted it with all his might at me. The ball hit my
right chest rather hard, but I felt nothing, shrugging it off.
I raised both my arms, as I began to laugh uncontrollably,
staring down at them, continuing my advancement. The children
screamed, before turning the other way and ran. What i found so
funny, was beyond me, but I knew this is what I loved to do.
Scaring the innocent.
