Yes! That would be great!
There should be a shield pickup, too.

Here are a few more ideas:
<u>Free-For-All Items</u>: Naviron-style items that can be
picked up by both avatars and enemies, adding some new functions
to Energy games. For example, Rose (health), Fire Bulb (medium
blaster), Frost Bulb (freeze blaster), Wisp (speed boost)
<u>Empowered Health</u>: The health meter can allow certain
avatars more than 8 health--HOWEVER, it makes the health meter
larger, so you can't have as many system sprites. An avatar with
9-16 health has a health meter that fills the space of 2 system
sprites, while an avatar with 33-40 health has the entire bar
filled up.
<u>Enemy Trophies</u>: Items which turn into enemies. If an
avatar bumps into an enemy trophy, it becomes the enemy it
depicts. Enemy trophies can be hidden in gift blocks. Avatars
with backpacks can pick up these trophies and summon enemies
wherever they want.
<u>New multiple-avatar handling</u>: If you try to place an
avatar in the game when one already exists, it doesn't display
an error message; instead, it places the avatar, but makes it
grayed out. During the level, these avatars are immobile
background characters, like NPCs.
<u>Buildable Human Avatars</u>: You know the
Addison/Jhansi/Samson/Naja/Emile/Aran/Amstrad avatars? What if
you could make your own? It seems like the interface would be
pretty simple.
<u>Spellbooks</u>: Gives you a projectile weapon--if you already
have one, it changes the element.
Red Spellbook changes your attack to Fireball.
Blue Spellbook: Freeze Blaster.
Light Green: Life Blaster (heals).
Dark Green: Poison (target loses 20 energy).
Yellow: Lightning (passes through multiple enemies).
Black: Curse (reduces target to 1 hit point).
In addition, there could be special blocks that can only be
destroyed with a certain element, allowing spellbooks to be used
in puzzle games.
<u>Nametag</u>: Apply to an enemy, causing a name to appear
above its head. Depending on settings, the name can always be
visible, or only when the avatar draws near.

The fireball does need an alteration, though... perhaps it sets
an enemy on fire, which causes it to take 1 damage every second
or so, increases its speed, and lets it set other enemies or the
avatar on fire?

The Avatar Aid
The Avatar Aid is similar to the V.I.P. but much more powerful.
They can be more powerful then the avatar itself. You can only
have 3 per level. All Avatar Aids can kill enemies and collect
points. Whatever points the Avatar Aid collects and whatever
enemies the Avatar Aid kills counts for what you kill and/or
collect.
There would 2 groups of Avatar Aids:
1. Top-Down Avatar Aids
2. Platformer Avatar Aids
In each group there would be these types:
1. League Avatar Aid
The League Avatar Aid is the original Avatar Aid. It will follow
you around helping you. They can help you kill enemies. The
bullets deal 2 damage to enemies only. If their bullets hit you,
you get 1 life back. They can have up to 5 health points and can
go up to 10 speed points fast.
2. Altair Avatar Aid
The Altair Avatar Aid also follows you around helping you. They
can also help you kill enemies. The bullets deal 1 damage to
enemies only. They can have up to 5 health points and can go up
to 20 speed points fast.
3. Acheron Avatar Aid
The Acheron Avatar Aid follows you around aiding you. Like every
other aid, they can help you kill enemies. The bullets deal 5
damage to enemies only. This Avatar Aid starts with an armor
pack that can have up to 3 armor points. They can go up to 8
speed points fast and can have up to 10 health points.
4. Karakuri Avatar Aid
The Karakuri Avatar Aid can either follow you around helping you
OR walking around the game helping you. You get to choose that
in the settings. The Karakuri Avatar Aid's bullets deal 4 damage
to enemies only. When the Karakuri Avatar Aid is in contact with
an enemy, you and the Avatar Aid become invisible. They can go
up to 10 speed points fast and can have up to 6 health points.
5. Naviron Avatar Aid
The Naviron Avatar Aid follows you around helping you. They
don't have a blaster but they have a sword and shield. The sword
deals 3 damage to enemies only. When in contact with an enemy,
it will fight with its sword while shielding itself. When it
shields itself, you get shielded also. I also spawns 5 Health
Packs and 1 Backpack when being fought by tons of enemies. They
can go up to 10 speed points fast and can have up to 5 health
points.
6. Energy Avatar Aid
The Energy Avatar Aid follows you around helping you. They don't
have a weapon, but they have poisonous breathe that only effects
enemies. The poisonous breathe deals 6 damage. Also, they spawn
Energy that gives you 25 Energy Points when your energy is low.
They can go up to 12 speed points fast, can have up to 6 health
points and start off with 500/500 energy (they need Energy to
survive too, so sometimes they eat the Energy they spawn).
7. Spooky Avatar Aid
The Spooky Avatar Aid follow you around helping you. Like the
Energy Avatar Aid, they have poisonous breathe that only effects
enemies instead of a weapon. The poisonous breathe deals 7
damage. Also, they are like a force field. Whenever they are
near you, if an enemy gets close they scare it off. This only
works every so often, however. They can go up to 8 speed points
fast and can have up to 10 health points.

So, about these Avatar Aids.
First of all, they would be incredibly hard to code. They would
need really advanced pathfinding AI that shoot bullets. Even
ignoring that, they're incredibly overpowered. No Avatar Aid
should have a bullet or attack that deals more than 2 damage -
otherwise, they would defeat enemies far too quickly.
The League Avatar Aid's healing bullets would be too helpful,
completing defeating the point of being damaged. After you got
hurt, you would just stand in front of the Aid. It also
probably does too much damage for a League Aid.
The maximum speed of an avatar is 15 (17 with a Ghastly Phantom
or the like), and since the Avatar aids follow the avatar, the
Altair Aid's speed would be useless.
The Acheron Aid does way too much damage: it can defeat anything
in 3 bullets, and the Acheron fire rate is fast. I like the
armor pack idea, though.
The Karakuri Aid also does too much damage. In addition, the
only invisibility Gamestar Mechanic has right now is the one
that prevents you from moving. Any way that you could still
move while under invisibility would be really powerful.
The Naviron Aid would require especially advanced AI to learn
when to shield and when to attack. Also, it doesn't make any
sense that you're shielded too.
The poisonous breath of the Energy and Spooky Aids also do too
much damage.
It seems like a cool idea, but I would recommend scaling it down
a little.

You know in Gamestar Mechanic they have Health Packs, that heal
the avatar? Well, Life Packs are more powerful. They can give
the avatar 3 health points to 6 health points back. They also
effect V.I.P.s! They can give the V.I.P. 3 health points to 6

Health Packs already restore one to six health points so the
Life Pack would simply limit the effective health restoration
range of these Life Packs. The closest thing to having an enemy
sprite collecting an item is the Naviron Grazer who seeks out
nearby plants. If some similar code is implemented, I can see
how the restoration would work.
Due to the basic nature of the follow pattern,
HTML http://prntscr.com/3nwwle
a path like the one in the screenshot is mandatory for the VIP
sprites to obtain the Life Pack if the avatar can also obtain
it.
It's an interesting concept that basically extends Health Packs
to be able to be consumed by VIPs as well.
If this is ever implemented, it seems more likely that they
would just add this to the default health pack seeing as you did
not suggest health increase value differing from what is already
in place.

Hey guys! I just thought of this cool idea Gamestar Mechanic
should add in. They should allow users to transfer packs,
Addison's Complete Quest, the Online Learning Program and
anything else you can buy in the store for free (or for a price)
to a different account! Whatcha think?
