To be honest I think that in some ways, this series has degraded
over time... it's basically just introduce a mythological
character, defeat it, move on. To be honest some of the
characters are kind of shallow: Percy and Jason are Marty-Sues
as far as I can tell and Piper focuses on Jason so much that
she's overshadowed by him. I do like Frank, Hazel, and Leo,
because they have creative backstories that actually affect them
today. It's not bad, it's just a little bit mediocre – like
we're just trying to advance the plot so we can get to the
finale.

I agree with Nitrox. The plot seems to be getting forced, and
it's the same pattern for every book. Not that it's a bad
pattern but it gets... tedious.
Also, it is functioning on deus ex machinas. One of these days,
one of the seven needs to die. And it needs to be soon. So that
this series is just a shred more realistic.

a deus ex machina.
