Deus Ex Human Revolution
By: yt__ Date: August 22, 2011, 1:12 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Reviews are kicking the summer games drought in the teeth ;D and
I haven't seen one below a 9 yet out of about 5 different
reviews! :o
I have a pretty good sense whether a game will be good or not
usually by knowing the developer, or whether its a big named
sequel, or AAA title like Deus Ex and I put my money on the
table ages ago. I even paid for the game at the weekend so I
didn't blow all my money in the pub and not be able to afford it
lol ;)
I remember the original way back in early 2000, but like a lot
of games back then I played them but can never remember if I
finished them or not ??? I mean I never knew about sites like
gamefaq's so If I got stuck, I gave up very easily and moved on
the next game. What I do remember tho was a game unlike anything
else, it had guns and was a shooter, but it had stealth and
various options & choices to make, and the cyber punk setting
was pretty sweet.
And here we are, Blade Runner meets Metal Gear Solid backed by
some very strong reviews. What's not to like eh?
*waves goodbye to the summer games drought*

I didn't know much about this game until about 3 weeks ago, then
I really got interested. To save me money for now though I'm
reminding myself how bad I am at stealth and waiting until it's
cheaper.

Ahh but that's where this game holds an Ace up its sleeve
letting you go through the game either guns blazing, bribing
people or stealthily.
From Wikipedia
HTML http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_Ex:_Human_Revolution/
The different "pillars of gameplay", as called by the
developers, are "Combat", "Stealth", "Hacking", and "Social".
Players can switch between these gameplay types whenever they
please, and certain pillars may flow into others. For example, a
failed hack may sound an alarm and start a fight, and
exploration might lead to the discovery of a stealthy way past
the area's enemies.
A few quotes from Eurogamers review
HTML http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-08-22-deus-ex-human-revolution-review/
Sometimes, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is just the best
Deus Ex tribute act ever. You can still save the world by
crouching behind desks and hacking into people's email if you
want, but it doesn't judge you if you want to do something else
for a bit. In fact, it rewards you. It gives you an XP bonus for
not being seen, but it also gives you an XP bonus for brutally
incapacitating two guards on patrol with the same takedown.
There is no wrong kind of progress, there's just success. It
would be nice if more of the games that wished they were Deus Ex
treated us like that.

The systems that underpin everything are all great.
Dialogue and interrogation are like boxing, full of ducks and
weaves and - if you buy the right augment - vital signs and
physiological tells upon which you win or lose exchanges.
Stealth is based on line of sight and the cover system is
perfect, allowing you to hide and move with confidence in every
situation. Direct combat is brutal and difficult, but once you
think beyond the assault rifle and start mixing it up with
various kinds of explosives and projectiles, you can really
master your environment.
The game is centred around augmentations, which are
biomechanical upgrades for your body so you can upgrade the ones
you see fit to how you want to play it.

Deus Ex is still the greatest game ever made for me.
I've had this pre-ordered since it was announced.
